Mark Levin: GOP Needs to Start Thinking About a Government Shutdown

I'm game.

Levin is on to something here. If President Obama refuses to even contemplate trimming $60 billion from his preposterous $3.73 trillion budget - a measly 1.6% - then he is basically daring the GOP to shut down the government.

They should not hesitate to do it, if necessary.

Because the Republicans have to know that they simply cannot sign off on anything close to this budget and expect to retain credibility with voters.

Of course, Obama's credibility on fiscal matters fell into tatters immediately after he was sworn in. But that doesn't matter nearly as much as it should, because the media doesn't harp on that. Obama understands this, so he just plows ahead with blatantly incoherent platitudes about how the federal government needs to "stop running up the credit card" - even as he proposes a budget that adds $26.3 trillion in shiny, brand-new debt over the next ten years. He knows reporters will basically transcribe this inanity without much skepticism.

Media firewall notwithstanding, Obama is plainly an unserious President, at best. At worst, he is intentionally undermining the system. And what's the difference? Either way, the country is doomed unless we can figure out a way to A) toss Obama and a good number of his minions in Congress out on their cans in 2012, and B) replace them with principled, politically courageous conservatives.

Mark Levin to Smear Merchants: 'I'm Gonna Drag Your Ass Into Federal Court'

Chris Matthews and Ed Schultz messed with the wrong guy.

And Levin is putting his money where his mouth is by threatening to take MSNBC hosts and contributors like Chris Matthews, Ed Shutlz, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Joe Scarborough and David Frumm (“you little weasel”) to federal court for accusations tying Levin to Loughner’s rampage.

“I don’t care if they’re bloggers,” Levin announced. “I don’t care if they’re television hosts, I don’t care if they’re radio hosts. I’m going to drag your ass into federal court. Oh, you’ll have due process. It’ll all be nice and legal.”

“Anyone,” Levin continued, “who accuses me of inciting mass murder in Tucson, Arizona is going to be sued. Period.”

NY Times 'Reviews' Mark Levin's Book ... By Completely Ignoring His Book

I guess considering Mark Levin's book "Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto" is the top-selling book in the nation, the New York Times can't completely ignore it.

But they manage to pull off a dubious feat here. They "review" his book by completely ignoring his book. Rather than, you know, actually reading the book, what do they do instead? Why, they go to a fan website and lift comments.

Unreal. This isn't just the laziest display of journalism I've seen in recent years, it's just beneath contempt, another example that the mainstream media is totally absent any semblance of responsibility. Maybe instead of sneering condescension they could actually examine why Levin wrote the book, why it's so popular and why people are lining up around the country to get autographed copies.

No, they'd rather diminish Levin's credibility by cribbing comments from a website.

Just a disgrace.

Would it be too much to find someone who's actually read Levin's book to do a review of it? It can't be that hard, considering there are hundreds of thousands of people who've bought it already.

Why Investigate When Media Matters Does It For Him?

Henry "Nostrilitus" Waxman denies that he and his taxpayer-funded henchpersons are monitoring Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin and Sean Hannity.

There are two possibilities at play.

One, he's come under such ridicule from all three of them, or two, he and his goons realize they have Hillary Clinton's frontgroup Media Matters to do the job for him.

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) on Wednesday denied that he is conducting or ever planned to conduct a congressional investigation of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin and called on a conservative magazine to retract its report that he asked investigators to compile information on the popular conservative talk radio hosts.

"The American Spectator report about a congressional investigation into talk radio is completely false," Waxman, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said in a statement to Cybercast News Service. "There is no investigation."

Waxman was referring to a report Monday that he "has asked his investigative staff to begin compiling reports on Limbaugh, and fellow radio hosts Sean Hannity and Mark Levin based on transcripts from their shows" to build a case for bringing back the Fairness Doctrine.

Naturally, I'm skeptical of anything coming out of Waxman's mouth since all he lives for is petty investigations of Republicans, and think it's likely some staffers flapped their gums a bit much and Waxman realized how stupid he looks.
