As Crime Skyrockets in NYC, Bloomberg Focuses on Gun Control ... in Virginia

With the NYPD tied up babysitting the Wall Street "occupiers" and crime spiraling out of control, the pipsqueak mayor of New York has decided to focus on the issue most important to New Yorkers. Gun control in Virginia. Is this guy for real?
Mayor Bloomberg is crossing state lines - and opening his wallet - in his latest salvo in his war to keep guns off city streets.

Bloomberg has donated $25,000 apiece to the campaigns of six Democratic candidates for the Virginia state Senate who share his strict beliefs on gun control, officials told the Daily News Friday.

The deep-pocketed mayor, who drew the ire of the Virginia attorney general when he ran gun stings there five years ago, will travel to Old Dominion to campaign for the candidates next week, the officials said.
It might be better if Bloomberg focused on rapist control in Zuccotti Park.

One Virginia resident summed it up nicely.
"He's an arrogant bastard who shouldn't be meddling."

Bloomberg Explains Why He Caved on Zuccotti Park Cleanup: 'If You Don’t Stop This, We’ll Make Your Life More Difficult'

Who are these "elected officals" who threatened Michael Bloomberg?
Mayor Bloomberg made his weekly radio show appearance Friday morning, saying Brookfield Properties informed him the company “got lots of calls from many elected officials threatening them and saying, ‘If you don’t stop this [the planned cleanup], we’ll make your life more difficult’.”

The mayor said he was not told who called Brookfield. Bloomberg’s girlfriend, Diana Taylor, serves on Brookfield’s board of directors.

Bloomberg told the radio show Brookfield Properties made the decision to call of the cleanup around midnight on Thursday night and is hoping to broker some kind of agreement with protesters in the next few days.

“Brookfield said they want to take a couple of days to try and negotiate something,” he said. “If you get through a couple of days, the question is what would be possible, and is it more complex to do two days from now what they wanted to do today?”
Just imagine if NYC had Rudy Giuliani back. This mess would have been cleaned up weeks ago.
Brookfield reversed its decision to clear the park because it was intimidated by elected officials who are siding with the protestors, an angry Mayor Bloomberg said today.

"My understanding is Brookfield got lots of calls from many elected officials, threatening them and saying if you don't stop this we'll make your life more difficult," the mayor said on his weekly radio show.

"If those elected officials had spent half as much time trying to promote the city to get jobs to come here we would a lot more ways towards answering the concerns of the protestors.

"I'm told they were inundated by lots of elected officials..."

The mayor said he didn't know which elected officials applied the pressure.

On Thursday, numerous officials -- including Rep. Jerry Nadler and Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer -- stepped forward to demand that Brookfield and the city try to work out a voluntary resolution of the month-long sleep-in.
Update: The idiots are empowered.
"The longer this goes on, the worse it is for our economy. You just go down and talk to the stores in the neighborhood - there's one or two selling more pizzas, but most of them say this is hurting," Bloomberg added.

News of the postponement set off a wild celebration among the hundreds massed at the park, which they have occupied for the last four weeks. They hugged, sang, danced and beat on drums - all the while proclaiming victory.

"We are the 99%," the motley band of demonstrators chanted repeatedly.

"The powers that be can't touch us and this proves it. It's a big victory for the occupation," said Josh Long, 30, of Kensington, Brooklyn. "It's infused us with more passion and energy. No one can stop us now."

'Hello Innovators, Entrepreneurs, Or As I Call You, My Peeps'

Does this tool have the slightest idea how idiotic he sounds?
MC Nate Westheimer cut the demos short tonight to introduce NY Tech Meetup to a former Wall Street worker who had seen the light and invested his savings into a tech startup instead.

“Hello innovators, entrepreneurs, or as I call you, my peeps,” said Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who likes to break the ice with a little street slang. “Thirty years ago I would have been sitting out their with you. I was unemployed, I had a lot of passion, but no business.”

Bloomberg Warns of Riots Due to Obama's Horrendous Jobs Record

Well, he doesn't blame Obama, of course, because Mike Bloomberg is a No Labels kind of guy, so he can't blame anyone specifically. But I'll blame Obama since these potential rioters are out of work because of him. Bloomberg, of course, kisses Obama's ass.
Sounding alarm bells about the nation's high unemployment rate, Mayor Bloomberg warned this morning that there could be an uprising in the streets if Washington lawmakers don't start creating jobs for millions of Americans.

"We have a lot of kids graduating college, can't find jobs," Bloomberg said on his weekly WOR radio show. "That's what happened in Cairo. That's what happened in Madrid. You don't want those kinds of riots here."

Bloomberg also said the damage may be done as the nation's unemployment rate hoovers around 9 percent.

"The damage to a generation that can't find jobs will go on for many, many years," Bloomberg said.

Despite that, the mayor gave Obama praise for coming up with a jobs bill.
It's not even Obama's fault, he weakly claims.
Obama didn't create this economic mess, it developed "over long periods of time," Bloomberg said.

'He Wanted To Go From Bozo of the Blizzard To Hero of the Hurricane'

If by showing up on television seemingly every hour on the hour for three days running makes one a hero, then so be it. Most of us call this doing your job.
In sharp contrast to the bruising Bloomberg took as the city struggled to dig out from the debilitating post-Christmas blizzard, Hizzoner was lavished with praise yesterday from even his toughest critics.

"I'm not a critic today. I'm a fan," said City Councilwoman Letitia James (D-Brooklyn), who last spring conducted what some called the "Mother of all Hearings" into the city's disastrous blizzard response.

"I'm sorta disappointed. I emailed some of my colleagues today and said, 'Damn! I missed my opportunity to have the Mother of All Hearings, Part II.'"

Last winter, elected officials from across the city said they spent the days after the blizzard fielding furious complaints from constituents and getting no response from the administration.

This time they were invited to frequent conference calls and meetings ahead of the storm.

Top city officials responded to emails and calls as the winds and rains pelted the city.

And by yesterday, James said that when she notified the administration of downed trees in her central Brooklyn district, "they responded with the cavalry."

Maybe it was a little too much, some acknowledged.

Maybe some New Yorkers were inconvenienced by the forced evacuation or alarmed by the panic.

Surely many are steamed at Gov. Cuomo and the MTA for yanking the crucial lifeline of the city's public transit system for nearly two days, but, this time, no one could complain that their mayor was AWOL.

"He wanted to go from bozo of the blizzard to hero of the hurricane," said Baruch College political science Prof. Doug Muzzio.

Instead of swooping back into the city from Bermuda as Bloomberg did just before the blizzard, New Yorkers could barely turn on their TVs over the weekend without seeing the mayor giving a briefing or inspecting the troops.

"This was Michael Bloomberg saying, 'You know what, nothing else is going to happen on my watch,'" said Councilman Domenic Recchia (D-Brooklyn), who helped evacuate thousands of people from his Coney Island district.

"Some people are going to say he overreacted, but you know what? It's better to be safe than sorry."
What we could have lived without was the cringe-worthy Spanglish portion of each press conference, which naturally has spawned a hilarious Twitter feed. The latest:
Los offices del la cuidad will be opentado maƱana. El commuto el mucho tough y mucho slow. Que crowding!

Bloomberg: The Best Way to Create Jobs is to Open the Borders or Something

So let's see. We have real unemployment at around 18%, the economy is in the toilet, wherever jobs open up huge lines form, so the best solution to all this mess is to open the borders and let anyone in.

Sure, that should work.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Friday that the "single biggest" thing President Obama can do right now to spur job creation in the United States is to allow more immigration.

"Most importantly we want to get immigrants from around the world to come to America. That's the single biggest thing that the president could do with Congress, is open up the borders to those that will create jobs here, said Bloomberg in an interview with the CBS Early Show.

He told CBS that immigrants "don't take away jobs" but rather they create jobs for people already living in the United States.
Really? Why hasn't someone already thought of this?

Bloomberg's Ramadan Greeting: 'Shalom Alaikum'

This twerp ought to know that when you're pandering to a select audience, at least greet them properly.
Mayor Bloomberg practiced his version of verbal jujitsu Wednesday, mangling a greeting to Muslim leaders at a Ramadan gathering with "shalom alaikum."

Hizzoner was shooting for "salaam alaikum" - the traditional Arabic "peace to you" greeting.

"He just got a little confused," one witness said.
What a dope.
The mayor frequently butchers names and words, and he often ends each press announcement with a cringeworthy pronunciation in Spanish.

His famous malapropisms include saying he "recluses" himself from decisions concerning city business that might create a conflict of interest with his company - instead of recuse.

And he routinely botches the names of celebrities and local politicians.

He once took heat for calling singer Shania Twain "SHA-na-ga Twain" and referred to country crooner Tim McGraw as "Tom McGraw."

The latest gaffe came in front of several hundred Muslim and community leaders at a Ramadan conference at Police Headquarters in Manhattan.

Bloomberg Suddenly Not Into Perp Walks, Rushing to Judgment

That Mike Bloomberg, you can never accuse him of having knee-jerk judgment, right?
Now that the case against former IMF honcho Dominique Strauss-Kahn has fallen apart, Mayor Bloomberg objects to handcuffed "perp walks" of crime suspects.

"I've always thought that the perp walks were outrageous," Bloomberg said Tuesday. "They're not guilty until they're convicted, and yet we vilify them for the benefit of theater, for the circus. ... They did it in Roman times, too."
Actually, they also did it just last year.

“If I had to guess, twenty five cents, this would be exactly that,” Bloomberg said. “Homegrown maybe a mentally deranged person or someone with a political agenda that doesn’t like the health care bill or something. It could be anything.”

Pathetic: Bloomberg Using Adam Gadahn in Anti-Gun Ad

Get read for saturation coverage of this abomination.
An ominous television ad commissioned by Mayor Bloomberg will soon blanket the airwaves - warning that Al Qaeda could exploit the so-called "gunshow loophole."

Bloomberg's anti-gun alliance raises the alar [sic] that terror thugs may be trying to buy powerful firearms within the U.S.

The 30-second ad, which debuts Tuesday, uses images from a June 3 video released by Al Qaeda that features its American-born spokesman Azzam Al-Amriki urging would-be jihadists to obtain their guns here.

"This is a golden opportunity," said Al-Amriki. "America is absolutely awash with easily obtainable firearms."
Indeed, especially if you're getting them from the ATF.

You suppose gun-grabber Mike Bloomberg is even aware of Gunwalker? Yet here the little tyrant uses the words of our enemy to score cheap political points. Shameless.
The commercial urges viewers to contact Congress to change the law, but some top Republicans on Capitol Hill have already dismissed the proposal.

"Simply because terrorists abuse our liberties doesn't mean that we should limit the rights of law-abiding Americans," Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, told the congressional newspaper The Hill after Al-Amriki's video first emerged.

Michael Bloomberg: 50 Years From Now the Earth Might Be "Uninhabitable"

Scary stuff.

But don't panic! All you need to do is cough up more taxes to science experts like Michael Bloomberg, and the global warming apocalypse can be averted.

Sorry, I meant to say 'climate change apocalypse'.

Whatever - just give Bloomberg your money and nobody will get hurt.
MICHAEL BLOOMBERG: If you ask the public ‘is there global warming,’ is in ’50 years the earth going to be dramatically different or perhaps uninhabitable,‘ their eyes roll. Nobody can think 50 years in advance.

MICHAEL BLOOMBERG: Your job is not to ask the public where they want to go and get behind them. Your job is to tell the public and convince the public where they should go, and lead from the front.

The Mayors of these cities are not asking the public whether they are willing to spend to live healthier lives and live longer. They are there to explain to the public that if they don’t spend that money they’re not going to live as long and not going to be as healthy. And then convince them to come along, reach into their pockets, pay their taxes, change their policies.
Gee, it's too bad Bloomberg isn't running for President. I can just picture the bumper sticker:

Bloomberg 2012: Reach Into Your Pockets, Pay Your Taxes, Obey My Commands

He'd be a shoo-in!

Bloomberg's Solution to Immigration: Make Newcomers Live in Detroit

Let's face it. If all new immigrants to America were compelled to live in Detroit, immigration likely would cease immediately. When I first saw the headline to this story I figured maybe Bloomberg was doing some shtick as the DC egofest last night. But he said this on "Meet the Press" this morning.
Mayor Bloomberg has a fix for the nation's immigration debate: Send 'em to Detroit.

"If I were the federal government," Bloomberg told David Gregory on NBC's Meet the Press Sunday morning. "Assuming you could wave a magic wand and pull everybody together, you pass a law letting immigrants come in as long as they agree to go to Detroit and live there for five or ten years."

Detroit has suffered a devastating population loss in recent decades, losing 25% of its citizens since the last census.

Meanwhile, immigrants are clamoring to enter the United States.

Bloomberg says he can fix both at once.

The immigrants would arrive in Detroit, "start businesses, take jobs whatever," Bloomberg said. "You would populate Detroit over night because half the world wants to come here ... You can use something like immigration policy - at no cost to the federal government - to fix a lot of the problems that we have."
I'm wondering where the genius thinks they'll be going after their five-to-ten year stretch in Motown?

Delusional Bloomberg: GOP Should Stand Behind Obama

Has this guy been sniffing glue or something?
Even the Republican candidates lining up to topple President Obama next year should be supporting him now for the good of the country, according to Mayor Bloomberg.

"We should be behind this president even if you're a candiate who's going to run against him -- which I am not," Bloomberg said in a taped interview with PBS' Tavis Smiley in taking bi-partisanship to its highest level.
Considering how gracious Obama has been towards Republicans it's really so unfair of them to even think about running against him. Strange, but I don't recall the mini-mayor calling for Democrats to stand behind George W. Bush. Must have missed that proclamation.

Oh, and hanks for the reminder you're not running for president. It must have been a couple of weeks now since we heard you claim you're not running.

Let's not forget this craven opportunist changed from Democrat to Republican so he could run for mayor, then later abandoned the GOP and became an independent.

Bloomberg's Advice to Obama: Play More Golf

This is one bit of advice I'm sure Obama will go for.
New York Michael Bloomberg, who loves a good party, thinks President Barack Obama needs to loosen up.

Bloomberg, on on-again, off-again admirer of Obama rumored to have called Obama the most arrogant man on the planet, says Obama needs to schmooze his Republican counterparts to govern effectively.

"The president has got to start inviting people over for dinner, he's got to play golf with them," Bloomberg told Fox News host Wallace. "He's got to pick up the phone and say, 'I know we disagree on this, but I just want to say I heard it's your wife's birthday or your kid just got into college. He has to go build friendships, that's what an executive's job is. And the president is a people person...nobody's suggestion he couldn't do a better job."
He can't possibly call someone and ask how they're doing. It's all about The O. Unless someone's calling to suck up to him it's not likely he wants to talk to anyone.

Bloomberg does make some sense with these remarks.
Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Bloomberg praised Rep. Paul Ryan's moxie for proposing a comprehensive budget plan but wouldn't say which plan -- Ryan's or Obama's -- he backed.

"I don't know that we are in big trouble, but we certainly could be very easily - this is a warning," he said when host host Chris Wallace asked him about S&P's outlook on downgrading on U.S. treasury bonds.

A Democrat turned Republican turned independent, Bloomberg said he favors an all-of-the-above approach to deficit reduction but thinks hiking taxes on the rich at the moment would kick the U.S. economy into a tailspin.

'Who Cares About Bike Lanes? He’s an Idiot'

The dopey mayor of New York insulted the Irish a couple of weeks ago.

Bad move.
Some Celts are still cross.

Boos followed Mayor Bloomberg yesterday as he walked in the annual St. Patrick’s Parade in Rockaway, Queens — his first Irish outing since he made a quip about their drinking last month.

Many in the working-class neighborhood also got their Irish up over Bloomberg’s cost-cutting initiatives, including his efforts to overhaul the city pension system, fire more than 4,000 teachers, and change the “last in, first out” rule for teacher layoffs.

“Go back to Manhattan!” yelled several parade-goers as Bloomberg and other elected officials strolled the 30-block route along Newport Avenue and Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Belle Harbor.

“Take the A train home!” shouted someone amid the sea of bagpipes, green face paint and Irish flags.

Chants of “Union-buster!” and “Respect the teachers!” trailed after Bloomberg, who was making his 10th consecutive appearance at the parade.

Maureen Bergin, one of about 6,000 proud sons and daughters of Erin lining the march, said Bloomberg disrespected her heritage when he joked that he usually only saw “people that are totally inebriated” at the Irish American Historical Society on Fifth Avenue.

“He wouldn’t have the audacity to make that joke about another group of people,” grumbled Bergin. “Plus, I’m a teacher, so he’s not on my list of favorite people right now.”

Retired worker Ellen Moran agreed. “A stereotype is simply a stereotype. It may have been a joke, but the bottom line is, I was offended.”

Anthony Hannon, 80, was more angered by Bloomberg’s quality of life initiatives – like outlawing smoking in public places such as the boardwalk on Rockaway beach.

“What he’s doing to our teachers and our Fire Department – it’s shameful. Who cares about bike lanes? He’s an idiot,” sputtered Hannon.

Bloomberg: Hey, Sorry for Insulting Those Drunken Irish

Is there anyone left this boob hasn't insulted? Oh yes, there is. He would never say a disparaging word about his radical Islamist pals who plan on building a mega-mosque at Ground Zero. And don't you dare say a bad word about them or he'll be quick to insult you. Apparently, though, trashing a good chunk of his constituency with a century old stereotype is fine.
One thing's for sure about Mayor Bloomberg's next career: It won't be in comedy.

The mayor's stand-up act fell flat Wednesday night when he told a crowd at the American Irish Historical Society that he's used to seeing drunks hanging out the windows of its Fifth Avenue headquarters, around the corner from his town house on East 79th Street, the Irish Central Web site reported.

"I live in the neighborhood, right around the corner," the mayor said. "Normally, when I walk by this building, there are a bunch of people that are totally inebriated hanging out the window. I know that's a stereotype about the Irish, but nevertheless, we Jews around the corner think this."

The remarks were met with a combination of laughs, boos and groans.

"He was trying to be funny," one official in the audience later told The Post. "It wasn't funny. Some people took it as a personal or ethnic [slur]."

This isn't the first time the mayor's inappropriate choice of words has raised eyebrows.

Last year, during a trip to Hong Kong, he asserted that incoming members of Congress "can't read," to make the point that they're unprepared on international issues.
I wonder how he feels about any new Congressmen who are Irish?

For his next gig, maybe Bloomberg can crack some black and Puerto Rican jokes. Those would should go over well.

Bagels and Bullets: Thanks, Bloomie!

Well, this is sure to get Mike Bloomberg's knickers all in a knot.
For five years Smyrna gun shop owner Jay Wallace has been the target of a lawsuit by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

But that isn't stopping Wallace from opening a $5 million, 70,000-square-foot sporting goods store on South Cobb Drive in August complete with a 17-lane shooting range with computer operated targets, a cafe and a mezzanine that will seat more than 600 for NRA events, and the like.
Bloomberg is taking his road show of illegal gun purchasing agents to Arizona in an effort to do to them what he did to several gun shops in the south. My question always has been, and continues to be, what the hell business is it of the Mayor of a New York City? Just because he has gazillions dollars of his own money, New York City resident tax dollars, and the power of a city government behind him, he is allowed to go on his crusade. I wonder how the citizens of NYC feel about having their tax dollars spent this way?

Anyway, the owner of the store does understand irony as well and likes tweaking the nose of that blue nosed Yankee.
In fact, of the cafe, he said: "We're thinking about calling it the Bloomberg Cafe.

'This Is Not Democracy, Letting People Yell and Scream'

King Mikey Bloomberg want want to bone up on that whole freedom of speech thing. You may not like the tactics of protesters, but they do have a right to be heard.
The booing and chanting crowds that disrupted meetings on closing 22 schools this week were "embarrassing" - not just to the city but the entire nation, Mayor Bloomberg said Friday.

"The decorum: it's embarrassing for New York City, New York State, for America. This is not democracy, letting people yell and scream," Mayor Bloomberg said on the John Gambling radio show.

"That's not freedom of expression, to take away someone else's rights. If we want to attract good people to come and work for the public, you don't do this."
How is this embarrassing to the nation? Is anyone outside New York City even aware of these school closings?
Angry parents and teachers union members hollered, chanted and even banged drums at Panel for Education Policy meetings this week to oppose the closures of struggling schools and placement of charters in existing schools.
I bet if they lined up outside some gun manufacturer and banged drums Bloomberg would be kvelling with glee.
The mayor said a wide array of New Yorkers, however, should take offense at the disruptions.

"When you're yelling at a meeting like they had last night, you're yelling at the teachers, you're dissing them, you're dissing the principals, you're dissing the school safety officers, you're dissing the custodians, you're dissing the taxpayers paying for it," he said.
But I guess it's OK for Bloomberg to diss ObamaCare opponents by insinuating they had a role in the attempted bombing of Times Square, or diss the state of Arizona by running a gun sting, right?

Bloomberg Avoids Injury Holding Up Rodent, Declares Sping is Coming or Something

Is it just me or has this whole groundhog act grown stale? Especially when you now have a thousand knockoffs around the nation waiting for some rodent to see a shadow. As if this actually portends future weather. Anyway, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg took time out of his busy schedule of harassing legal out-of-state gun owners to go to Staten Island today to play along with the schmaltzy tradition. It's leadership like this why Bloomberg is considered a serious candidate (by himself) to run for president.
Staten Island Chuck made prediction this morning even as he was pelted by freezing rain during the latest in a seemingly never-ending series of winter storms.

"Spring is coming," cried Mayor Bloomberg as he held the wet woodchuck aloft.

His wooden home encased in a sheet of ice, Chuck bounded outside and seemed unfazed by the crowd of photographers and fans.
Bloomberg's irony meter clearly isn't well calibrated. As the region and a good chunk of the nation reels from blizzards and ice storms, he now boldly predicts good days ahead. Well, for him anyway. He can just jet off to Bermuda to keep his tan up. Fortunately, our hero managed to avoid any calamitous injuries this year.
Bloomberg was not injured during the ceremony in Staten Island - unlike two years ago when his finger was chomped by Chuck.

Wearing black leather gloves, Bloomberg held the woodchuck at a safe distance as the animal squirmed in his grasp.
We can rest easy. Now the fearless Bloomberg can get back to the hard work, like measuring everyone's salt intake.

Whining Nanny-Stater Mayor of NYC Now Running Gun Stings in Arizona

Seriously, who put this guy in charge of Arizona laws? In case he hasn't noticed, New York City is buried under mountains of snow and garbage. And he's got the resources to pull stings at Arizona gun shows?
The operation was conducted as part of the Bloomberg administration’s effort to crack down on illegal gun sales nationwide.

Bloomberg said the operation cost $100,000 and came out of the NYPD's budget.
Maybe Sheriff Joe Arpaio or Governor Jan Brewer can send some undercover police in to New York City and investigate why it took a week to dig out the outer boroughs after the December 26 blizzard. Or maybe infiltrate restaurants and find out some folks are sneaking too much salt with their lunch.

The governor defends the laws in her state.
"We believe our laws are fair and just in the state of Arizona,'' the governor said Monday.

Her comments come on the heels of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg releasing videos Monday taken by undercover agents at a Phoenix gun show just 15 days after the Tucson shootings. There, Arizona private investigators hired by New York City were able to purchase weapons not only without a background check but, at least twice, after admitting to sellers they probably would not pass.

Brewer said she had not seen the videos. Nor had she seen Bloomberg's comments.

But the governor said the laws are "something that the Legislature and I decide.''
Imagine that. You mean she doesn't report to King Bloomberg?
