SCOAMF To Spend Time With Union Thugs at Government Motors

Other then playing golf where else would you expect the man to be? Obama is going to be spending at least a portion of his day in front of what he hopes is still his loyal followers by giving a speech to the AFL-CIO at a Government Motors facility in that failed union held, liberal bastion of economic success called Detroit. Probably the best thing about the whole visit is he is going to be using the opportunity to do a "dress rehearsal" of that all important, earth shattering, answer to all our needs, jobs speech that he will be giving to congress later this week.

Obama's speech at an annual event sponsored by the Metropolitan Detroit AFL-CIO was serving as a dress rehearsal for the jobs address he'll deliver to a joint session of Congress on Thursday night.

Yeah, you read it. If you get the transcript of today's speech to the union storm troopers you will have a good preview of what he is going to say Thursday night in a speech that he expects the country to be watching, but for most of us will have us scrambling for the remote to find an infomercial on television rather then have our ears assaulted yet again by this SCOAMF.

Obama spent part of the holiday weekend at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland "putting the finishing touches" on the proposals and the speech, said spokesman Jay Carney.

Poor Detroit, just when they thought things couldn't get any worse "The Curse" comes for a visit.

I wonder if he'll motor in on his Canadian-made bus? He took some heat from angry racist Maxine Waters last week while she was babbling in Detroit, so maybe he feels the neehd to show up in the city Democrat policies have destroyed.

President Barack Obama will join thousands of union members at Labor Day festivities in Detroit, the Free Press has learned,

Obama will deliver remarks at a Labor Day event sponsored by the Metro Detroit Labor Council, according to a White House official with knowledge of the trip.

Who knows, by then he might be able to blame Hurricane Irene for his failed presidency.

Instapundit posted a link to the FBI crime stats for 2010 that was embedded in an article listing a ranking of the 10 Most Dangerous Cities. I was surprised to see that Atlanta was not on that list. I think the way Atlanta avoided it was due to the nature of the way the city limit lines are drawn. When it comes to number of murders, Atlanta is still high on the list, but these numbers would be even worse if they took into account the numbers from the south side of the county that Atlanta is located in but are separate cities.

Here is a list based solely on number of murders, and the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, apparently is killing a lot of people with all that love while Barry O's hometown has a death toll rivaling the number of soldiers killed in Afghanistan in 2010. (499)

Bloomberg's Solution to Immigration: Make Newcomers Live in Detroit

Let's face it. If all new immigrants to America were compelled to live in Detroit, immigration likely would cease immediately. When I first saw the headline to this story I figured maybe Bloomberg was doing some shtick as the DC egofest last night. But he said this on "Meet the Press" this morning.

Mayor Bloomberg has a fix for the nation's immigration debate: Send 'em to Detroit.

"If I were the federal government," Bloomberg told David Gregory on NBC's Meet the Press Sunday morning. "Assuming you could wave a magic wand and pull everybody together, you pass a law letting immigrants come in as long as they agree to go to Detroit and live there for five or ten years."

Detroit has suffered a devastating population loss in recent decades, losing 25% of its citizens since the last census.

Meanwhile, immigrants are clamoring to enter the United States.

Bloomberg says he can fix both at once.

The immigrants would arrive in Detroit, "start businesses, take jobs whatever," Bloomberg said. "You would populate Detroit over night because half the world wants to come here ... You can use something like immigration policy - at no cost to the federal government - to fix a lot of the problems that we have."

I'm wondering where the genius thinks they'll be going after their five-to-ten year stretch in Motown?

For the past several decades, a plethora of Democratic politicians and the UAW have teamed up to drive the once-thriving city of Detroit straight into the crapper.

Now that the city has finally achieved de facto Third World status, its few remaining residents are increasingly desperate to try anything to reverse their sad economic decline.

Short of electing conservatives or standing up to the UAW, of course. That's just crazy talk! Unlike legalizing pot and prostitution - now there's a perfectly sane idea!

Could Detroit be the new Amsterdam -- a city where prostitution and marijuana are both legalized to help attract young people and turn the troubled city’s prospects around?

Why not, barrister and occasional mayoral candidate Geoffrey Fieger said during a taping of “Michigan Matters” on what he would do if he walked in Detroit Mayor Dave Bing’s shoes and tried to address the city’s woes.

“I could turn it around in five minutes,” Fieger said.

“I’d shovel the snow and I’d clean the streets and parks. Then, I’d tell the police department to leave marijuana alone and don’t spend one dime trying to enforce marijuana laws. I also would not enforce prostitution laws and I’d make us the new Amsterdam.”

“We would attract young people,” Fieger said. “You make Detroit a fun city. A place they want to live and they would flock here.”

Hey, they might as well make murder and aggravated assault legal too while they're at it. Just imagine the fun times! Nobody would ever have to worry about getting arrested, and remember - all those would-be criminals do have to spend their money somewhere.

Why not make it Detroit?

If that doesn't work it may be time to consider bulldozing the entire city.

'On Many Occasions, I Have Asked Him Not to Touch Himself'

Must be a Kwame Kilpatrick appointee.

Otis Mathis, school board president for Detroit Public Schools, is attempting to rescind his resignation after being accused by the district superintendent of fondling himself in front of her.

He abruptly submitted a letter of resignation Thursday, citing health problems. Today, he indicated to school officials he has no intention of quitting, has retracted his resignation and attended a court hearing this afternoon about the district.

Board Vice President Anthony Adams today released a two-page letter from Superintendent Teresa Gueyser accusing Mathis of touching himself during a recent meeting. She called it his "usual habit" during one-on-one meetings. She said she tries to ignore it.

"On many occasions, I have asked him not to touch himself," she wrote in the letter dated Wednesday.

Mathis declined to comment on the allegations today and would only say: "I removed my resignation." He attended the board's 5 p.m. meeting today, but sat in the front row of the audience. His name plate was already removed from the board table. Adams said the board won't comment further on the controversy.

He said he plans to attend a public board meeting tonight. But colleagues are moving forward as if "he is no longer a board member," Adams said.

Board member Reverend David Murray called the allegations "a terrible thing" but said he doesn't believe the 55-year-old Mathis should quit.

"It happens to a lot of young men. They engage in behavior they feel is harmless and it's offensive to certain people," Murray said. "... It could be deemed offensive, but some women are more sensitive to those types of things than others."

"I feel bad for him because he probably felt that it was something she would probably like or she got humor out of it."

Gueyser's letter describes in detail an incident during a meeting about her employment agreement. Her contract is to be reviewed tonight.

"President Mathis continued to fondle his genital area for approximately 20 minutes, or the entire time I was talking," Gueyser wrote. "At one point, I lifted some papers from my binder above my eyes to separate my peripheral view in order to avoid watching his activity."

The letter doesn't explicitly say when the incident occurred, except that the meeting began at 4:55 p.m.

"He then re-zipped and unzipped his pants again; again placing the hand with the handkerchief inside the zipper area; this time moving his hand as if to be masturbating in front of me," Gueyser wrote.

How charming.

One of the most classless people alive, Monica Conyers, wife of representative John Conyers just got sentenced to 37 months in jail for her role in a scandal in Detroit involving her accepting bribes while serving as a Detroit City Council member.

Just a reminder of what a class act she is, here she is getting owned by an eighth grader who asked her about her behavior at widely publicized council meeting where she called the president of the council 'Shrek'.



Yup, the political discourse in Detroit just got a little more civilized.

And you thought John Conyers was insufferable before, although getting away from this woman might improve his outlook on life.

Yes, Detroit has several problems and all of them can be linked back to failed liberal policies. Look anywhere where the Democrats and liberals have been in control for more then 20 years and you will see a landscape littered with shattered dreams and a rot like that of dead carrion in a tropical environment. At this point I would think the evidence would be apparent. Look at Detroit and Michigan as a whole, California or New Jersey. The evidence is far more overwhelming and provable then anything the mad scientists who work at East Anglia or the IPCC have ever produced.



The very people Democrats claim to be looking out for are the very ones most effected by their failed schemes. They have only one answer for any problem. Throw money at it. If it doesn't improve it is because you didn't throw enough money at it. Look at the current spending spree the Democrats are engaging in, charging up a huge national debt on the taxpayer credit card. It is some sort of perverse form of identity theft. In the end we will get stuck with the bill and have to suffer the consequences of a ruined credit rating while they simply move on to the next victim, resolute in their belief that it wasn't the policy that was bad, simply the lack of funds which caused it to fail.

I think the same school of thought was employed by the Soviet Union at the height of communism.

'This is Really Crazy, It's Not Worth All This'

Consider this a sneak preview of what to expect under ObamaCare. Long lines, rationing and a lot of angry people. Naturally this is taking place in a city controlled entirely by Democrats in a state governed by a Democrat. Just extrapolate it out across the nation and you'll get what Democrats love: Chaos.

Thousands of people jammed into Cobo Hall and lined up around the building to seek out housing aid from the federal government. It quickly turned into a mess with reports of fights and nearly a stampede.

People started lining up around midnight, but the real chaos broke out near the front entrance that leads to the ballroom.

One frustrated resident told Action News it was absolutely out of control.

"There was no organization whatsoever, we got down here this morning at 5 - 5:30 a.m. and it was calm, but then a mass of people came around 7:30 and took over, they pushed me down," said Tori Williams.

Karen Cox, another resident, couldn't believe what was happening.

"This is ridiculous, people falling out fighting. This is crazy. This is really crazy, it's not worth all this."

No, it isn't worth it.

Maybe they ought to try voting Republican. Then maybe they'd have some order in their lives.

Update: As if the state of Michigan isn't in dire straits, the genius Democrats in the House are looking to jack up taxes, including additional "fees" on doctors.

Democratic lawmakers have begun what could be an uphill fight to raise some taxes and find more revenue for a college scholarship program, health care, and local governments in Michigan.

The Democratic-led House passed bills Tuesday, mostly along party lines, that would increase fees on doctors and stop an inflationary increase in the personal income tax exemption from taking place. Another bill passed by the chamber signals the intent to reduce credits against Michigan's main business tax by up to 15 percent, saving more than $100 million, although the specifics would be subject to negotiation with the Republican-led Senate.

Bills that could be voted on as early as Wednesday would raise taxes on tobacco products except cigarettes and charge higher fees for liquor licenses that let bars serve alcohol until 4 a.m. Another bill would freeze or roll back an income tax credit for working low-income residents.

That ought to really please the residents of Detroit.

Free at Last! Kwame Kilpatrick Walks After 99 Days of Hard Labor

Detroit's former thug Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick, has finally emerged from jail after serving a whole 99 days for assaulting a detective and obstruction of justice.

Kwame Kilpatrick regained his freedom early Tuesday morning, emerging from jail after a 99-day sentence and stepping back onto the streets of the city he once ruled as mayor.

The 38-year-old Kilpatrick, about 25 pounds lighter than when he entered jail at the end of October, left the downtown Detroit facility wearing a dark suit just after 12:30 a.m.

On the sidewalk, Kilpatrick stood for a long moment amid bright television camera lights, a crush of awaiting reporters and swirling snowflakes, smiling occasionally to those in the crowd who called his name and shouted: "We love you, Kwame! Detroit loves you, baby!"

Flanked by a number of men, several dressed in fedoras and long coats, Kilpatrick then was rushed to a waiting blue Chevrolet Suburban. The Democrat waved from behind tinted windows as he was whisked away as part of a multi-vehicle caravan.

I'm getting all misty-eyed. This is almost like Nelson Mandela being freed.

"He's not bitter. He said he learned a lot," Gary said during an impromptu sidewalk news conference. "He said this has been an experience he'll never forget, and he thinks because of it he'll be a better person."

Oddly enough, Kwame hasn't got a position inthe Obama administration lined up. It's not as if he isn't qualified. After all, he owes over a million dollars.

Kilpatrick was expected to meet with state probation officials before heading to a job interview Wednesday with an unnamed company at an undisclosed location in Texas. His wife, Carlita, and three young sons, already have left Michigan.

A judge has ordered that he return by Feb. 9.

"The job prospect is very, very, very favorable," Gary told reporters. "We want to make sure he can get, and land, the job. That's his first thing. He wants a job. That's what he is concerned about now. He wants to get with his family, get with his kids so he can start his life again."

The next five years, though, will be spent on probation and paying off the bulk of $1million in restitution to the city. He also has had his law license revoked.

If Kilpatrick lands the job in Texas, he must first get permission to transfer his probation from Michigan to that state.

Thug Mayor Kilpatrick Looks to Cut a Plea Deal to Stay Out of Jail

Barack Obama pal and DNC superdelgate Kwame Kilpatrick is apparently looking to cut himself a sweetheart deal in order to stay out of jail.

Lawyers for Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick have proposed a deal in which he would plead guilty to two felonies, make restitution and serve five years' probation in exchange for avoiding jail time, a newspaper reported Sunday.

The Detroit Free Press quoted "a source familiar with all aspects of the negotiations" as saying Kilpatrick's legal team also said he would give up his law license, not run for office for two years and do 300 hours of community service.

This goon should never again be allowed to run for office, but know Detroit and the Democrats, he'd be elected as soon as he's back on the ballot.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy hadn't yet accepted the offer, the newspaper said.

And she'd be insane to accept it, if you ask me.

A person briefed on the talks told The Associated Press on Sunday that the prosecutor's office would not agree to any type of plea that doesn't involve jail time. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because of not wanting to publicly reveal specifics of the talks.

One Kilpatrick lawyer, James Thomas, told AP on Sunday morning that he had been out of town for a few days and was unaware of the plea deal proposal. He said that even if he had been aware of it he couldn't comment on it.

Kilpatrick, 38 and in his second four-year term as mayor, is charged with 10 felonies in two cases. He also faces removal proceedings set to begin Wednesday before Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

The newspaper said the mayor would turn over his state pension to the city. Kilpatrick is a former member of the state House, where he was leader of the Democratic minority. It said he also would make at least $100,000 in restitution.

The newspaper said that in a letter to Worthy, Kilpatrick's lawyers proposed having a neutral "legal statesman" assess the offer. It didn't identity the lawyers.

Obama Superdelegate Rejects Plea Bargain

The Kwame Kilpatrick farce continues. Do the folks in Detroit realize what a laughingstock they are?

If Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick resigns office by Sept. 3, the Attorney General's office will drop one of the felony charges against him, a representative from that office said this morning at his court arraignment.

But Kilpatrick's attorney James Thomas quickly rejected the offer after the hearing, calling it "gratuitous."

Kilpatrick stood mute and the court entered a not-guilty plea on the two felony charges he faces for an alleged July 24 altercation with investigators assigned to his perjury case.

Kilpatrick would have to plead guilty to the other felony as a part of the deal, the attorney general's office said at the court hearing. That would result in Kilpatrick automatically being booted from office and he would lose his law license.

Kilpatrick was charged by Attorney General Mike Cox with two felony counts of assaulting or obstructing a public officer by. The charges carry a possible two-year prison term and a fine of up to $2,000.

Doug Baker, special assistant attorney general, said the offer was timed to avoid Gov. Jennifer Granholm's removal hearings slated to start Sept. 3. Rusty Hills, a spokesman for the attorney general's office called the offer "a good deal for the people."

As Baker told the court about the offer, Kilpatrick shook his head 'no.'

There will be a court hearing Monday to hear arguments from Kilpatrick's attorneys on his bond restrictions. Kilpatrick is limited to travel within the tri-county area and is wearing an electronic tether. It is not clear if Kilpatrick attorneys are going to argue that he should be allowed to attend the Democratic National Convention, which starts Monday in Denver.

I really hope he goes. His good buddy Barack certainly doesn't want to see him in Denver.

'You Should Be Ashamed of Yourself Being With a Man With the Last Name White'

Really, it's such a shame that an Obama superdelgate would be so racially intolerant.

Not only that, frankly Kwame Kilpatrick sounds a touch insane.

How much longer must this farce continue?

A judge ruled Friday that there's enough evidence for Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to stand trial on two felony assault charges stemming from a confrontation with two investigators.

The investigators testified that an angry Kilpatrick shoved one of them into the other and made racial remarks while they were trying to deliver a subpoena in the mayor's perjury case to one of Kilpatrick's friends last month.

In his ruling in 36th District Court, Judge Ronald Giles said there was no question Kilpatrick was aware that Wayne County sheriff's Detective Brian White and county prosecutor's investigator JoAnn Kinney were at the home where the confrontation took place on official business.

"It's clear Kilpatrick knew who Detective White was. He had previous contact with him through his other case," Giles said in his ruling. "He specifically called him by name in this case."

White said the mayor shoved him into Kinney when he was trying to deliver the subpoena. He and White also testified that Kilpatrick used profanity and made a racial remark during the alleged confrontation.

"You're a black woman," Kinney said the mayor told her. "You should be ashamed of yourself being with a man with the last name white. You should not be a part of this."

The mayor and Kinney are black. White is white.

Detroit's Thug Mayor Freed, Faces Fresh Assault Charges

I really hope he shows up at the Democrat Convention. He'll be the perfect representative of the party of hope, change and weird cult symbols.

It goes without saying this wire item ignores his party affiliation.

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is getting out of jail but now faces assault charges for allegedly interfering with a detective trying to deliver a subpoena to his friend.

Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox announced Friday he'll be bringing charges of assaulting or obstructing a police officer.

The mayor already faces perjury and misconduct charges stemming from his testimony in a civil trial last year.

Kilpatrick was jailed Thursday for violating his bond by traveling to Canada on city business.

Not sure what kind of city business he had in Windsor, but they do have a lot of strip joints over there.

He's going to be wearing an ankle bracelet and supposedly won't be allowed to travel, but hopefully Lord Obama intervenes and has his buddy travel to Denver for his coronation.

The Detroit Free Press says he's charged with two counts of felonious assault.

They also apparently unaware he's a Democrat.

At what point does this guy get the boot from office?

Judge Sends Mayor of Unknown Party Affiliation Directly to Jail

Big Mac Daddy Kwame is heading to the joint. Would have been nice if the story told us what party he belongs to, although we do already know that. The point is if he were with the GOP, the word Republican would have led off the story.

Just saying. Oh, and no, he's not going away for his fashion crimes.

Judge Ronald Giles just sent Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to jail moments after the mayor pleaded for forgiveness and admitted he made an unauthorized trip to Windsor on city business.

"The first day you were before me, I thought I made it clear to you that this court comes first in everything," Giles said. "I do understand that you're under...pressure...but I have to look at how the system should be run and perceived by the public."

"At the beginning of this case you were given every privilege that could be given to you with regard to travel," Giles said, adding that he later imposed restrictions after learning Kilpatrick had been abusing his privileges.

"At that time I made it perfectly clear ... don't come back ... ," he said.

Court officials said Kilpatrick would remain in jail until he either posts the full $75,000 bond or until his lawyers can persuade a Wayne County Circuit Court judge to overturn the decision. But first, Kilpatrick would be taken to the 36th District Court detention area.

Giles’ jailing of Kilpatrick leaves no clear line of authority in who is running the city because there currently is no deputy mayor. Anthony Adams has temporarily relinquished his deputy mayor duties to be the interim director of the Water and Sewerage Department, and Kilpatrick said at the time of that announcement that chief of staff Kandia Milton and chief operating officer Cathy Square would divide up Adams’ deputy mayor duties.

The charter provides that in the “absence or temporary disability” of the mayor that the deputy mayor is the acting mayor.

Giles comments came after Kilpatrick told the judge he had been living under incredible pressure for the past 7 months.

"I don't believe that there is a person that's ever been through this process that respects it more than I do," Kilpatrick said, referring to the legal proceedings stemming from the 8 felonies ranging from conspiracy to perjury to misconduct in office to obstruction of justice filed against him in March.

"Last week was a tremendous wake-up call to me," he said, referring to Giles' rebuke last month after he allegedly assaulted law enforcement officials trying to serve a subpoena.

I just hope he's out in tiem to attend the Democrat Convention.

Detroit City Council to Governor: Uh, Could You Help Us Get Rid of Mayor Mac Daddy?

The comic farce in Detroit continues, as thug Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's future may now rest in the hands of Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

Gov. Jennifer Granholm's office on Tuesday accepted with little fanfare a politically charged request to remove Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick from office.

"The Detroit City Council's request of the governor has been received, and it will be reviewed," spokeswoman Liz Boyd said in a statement.

The Democratic governor faces a tough decision now that the council has formally asked her to remove Kilpatrick, a fellow Democrat, for misconduct in a whistle-blowers' settlement [That and about a thousand other things...--ed.]. State law allows the governor to remove an elected official from office for a number of reasons, including when an officeholder has been guilty of official misconduct.

Granholm so far has said she wants to allow the criminal process to play out. But that could drag on for months, prompting the council to ask the governor to remove the 37-year-old mayor.

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick Tuesday's request is a critical step in the council's actions to force Kilpatrick from office. In March, the council approved a nonbinding resolution asking Kilpatrick to voluntarily step down. Kilpatrick has steadfastly said he will not resign.

Yes, those nonbinding resolutions always hold so much sway on their intended targets. Just ask the UN.

The latest action comes after Kilpatrick tried to muscle in on City Council power by taking over distribution of federal grant money.

“This is outrageous, ridiculous, patently absurd . . . a low down evil attempt to strip council of power,” said Councilwoman JoAnn Watson.

Naturally, the AP omits any mention of Democrats in their dispatch.

Kilpatrick Text Messages Revealed: AP Still in the Dark On His Party Affiliation

The Kwame Kilpatrick saga in Detroit takes an almost comical turn today as the AP obtains a series of explicit text messages between him and his girlfriend (oh, sorry, alleged girlfriend) Christine Beatty.

Naturally, AP omits his party affiliation (hint: he's a Democrat).

A series of often explicit text messages from Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's former chief of staff appear to show she had a long-term romantic relationship with the mayor and that he played a role in the firing of a police officer who sued the city.

The embarrassing messages between Kilpatrick and Christine Beatty from 2002 and 2003 appear in an 18-page document released Tuesday on the orders of Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Robert J. Colombo Jr. in response to a lawsuit by the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News.

The document was obtained from the computer of Michael Stefani, an attorney who represented three police officers in whistle-blowers' lawsuits against the city that were settled last year for $8.4 million. The text messages were taken from Beatty's city-issued pagers.

The messages could prove damaging to Kilpatrick and Beatty, who are accused of lying under oath in one of the lawsuits by denying they had an intimate relationship. They are charged with perjury, misconduct and obstruction of justice. Both have denied wrongdoing.

Could prove damaging? Sure, if there was a literacy requirement to hold office.

The document released Tuesday includes descriptions of sexual trysts, the frequent use of the N-word by the mayor and Beatty as a term of endearment, and discussions of marriage.

On Sept. 15, 2002, Beatty described a sex act she wanted to perform on the mayor but said she didn't know how to approach him about it. He replied: "Next time, just tell me to sit down, shut up and do your thing!"

Later that month, the pair appeared to arrange a sexual encounter in Beatty's office. On Sept. 19, 2002, Beatty wrote to Kilpatrick: "I have wanted to hold you so badly all day, but I was trying to stay focused on work. So, I promise, not to keep you longer than 15 minutes."

Kilpatrick replied: "Don't promise (N-word.)"

Beatty said: "I'm in my office. Do you want me to come to yours or you coming to mine?"

Kilpatrick said: "I'm coming down there ... LOL ditto. Freaky Chris!"

It gets better.

On April 8, 2003, Beatty wrote: "You told me that you would be my boyfriend everyday until I was your wife. Are you renigging?"

Kilpatrick replied: "Hell no! Don't start none. Won't be none ...! LOL".

Detroit City Council Asks Mayor of Unknown Party Affiliation to Resign

Poor Kwame. Maybe he should move to New York and get his 2010 gubernatorial campaign started.

A defiant Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick quickly rejected the City Council's call Tuesday for him to resign because of accusations that he lied under oath about not having an affair.

"You take a whole day to discuss an issue like this," he said. "My reaction is: This is over. It has no effect. It's not binding. Let's get back to work."

Funny how Democrats always want to get back to work after they've been busted with their pants down while they were supposed to be working.

The resolution, passed 7-1, amounted to a "no-confidence" vote because the council lacks the power to force Kilpatrick to step down.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy is investigating whether the mayor and former Chief of Staff Christine Beatty lied under oath when they testified in a whistle-blowers' lawsuit that they had not had a physical relationship.

Kilpatrick has been dogged by media reports about steamy text messages the two exchanged that suggest a romantic relationship.

The mayor said he could not comment on the text messages on Beatty's pager. Beatty resigned from her post in February.

City Council President Ken Cockrel Jr. would like Kilpatrick to do the same. "The message is, it's time to call it quits," he said.

The lone vote against the resolution was cast by President Pro Tem Monica Conyers, the wife of U.S. Rep. John Conyers. One councilwoman was absent because of illness.

Did I mention he's a Democrat? May as well, since the story doesn't.

The New York Times actually does mention the word Democrat, but not to describe Kilpatrick.

The only Council member to vote against the resolution was Monica Conyers, the wife of Representative John Conyers Jr., a Michigan Democrat; Ms. Conyers said the Council should have waited until it had more information before voting on such a statement.

Mayor of Unknown Party Affiliation Drops the N-Word on Live Television

We noted this thug the other day and the media's reticence to mention the name of the political party he belongs to.

It appears they still refuse to note he's a Democrat, with (gasp!) a sex scandal plaguing him.

I guess using the n-word on live television is OK if you have that protective armor of the D after your name.

And finally tonight, and this may be the most talked about part of the speech after laying out all of that. But I feel that I cannot leave this auditorium with my wife and my sons sitting there without addressing this issue.

In the past 30 days, I've been called a n----- more than any time in my entire life. In the past three days I have received more death threats than I have in my entire administration. I've heard these words before, but I've never heard people say them about my wife and children.
