Well, we do know liberals are born, not bred, so this makes perfect sense. You can have a man lie to your face with impunity and still vote for him. And they don't even sound guilty about it.

He's still a Tricky Dick.

After a supporter told Connecticut Democrat Richard Blumenthal that he was upset that the candidate lied about serving in Vietnam, Blumenthal recast the conversation later to a reporter.

The revisited war fib -- one that nearly derailed the Democrat's Senate campaign -- came up as Blumenthal was shaking hands with the breakfast crowd at a local diner.

"It was not so much about Vietnam, but the negativity of the ads," the candidate later insisted.

That assertion stunned the supporter, Stuart Pattison, who said, no, it really was about Blumenthal's "misstatements" that he was a war veteran.

"You really popped my bubble," Pattison, 50, told The Post, referring to the war-fib story.

Faced with a polarized race for Senate, Pattison nonetheless said, "But I'm going to vote for him anyway."

Good News: CT Senate Race Now a Toss Up; Better News: Obama Campaigns for Lying Dick Blumenthal

First the good news. Considering she wasn't even expected to contend, Linda McMahon is now withing shouting distance of serial fabricator Richard Blumenthal in the Connecticut Senate race to replace Chris Dodd.

So what's a lying sack like Blumenthal to do? Why bring in the golfer-in-chief to do his bidding.

Barack Obama carried Connecticut by an overwhelming majority two years ago when he ran for president. But President Obama's campaign appearances in Connecticut Thursday night holds both risks and rewards for Democrat Richard Blumenthal, who seeks to help Democrats keep retiring Sen. Chris Dodd's Senate seat.

The risks? Obama's popularity has fallen in this reliably Democratic state. It could be a risk for the four-year veteran of Connecticut politics and the state's attorney general to appear side-by-side with the president. Thursday night Obama will hold a fundraising event with Blumenthal in Stamford, and then has a DNC event at a private home in Greenwich.

"President Barack Obama appears to be a drag on Blumenthal, even in Connecticut, where the president's job approval rating is a negative 45 - 52 percent, " said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz, PhD. "For attorney General Blumenthal, an elected official with a 70 percent rating, this race is surprisingly close. "

The Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday shows Blumenthal with a 51 percent to 45 percent lead against Republican former pro-wrestling executive Linda McMahon. Blumenthal is holding on to a lead but the new number is a significant slide for the Democrat, who enjoyed a 17-point lead in July's poll.

For all the Democrat cackling over a potential GOP loss in Delaware (no lock), what does it say when they've also now got to defend another Northeast stronghold that shouldn't even be a concern?

Update: Support my man, Blumenthal, despite his bad lawyering:

"Vote for my friend, Richard Blumenthal! He's wrong on the law, and my Administration is fighting him in the Supreme Court, but otherwise, he's OK by me."

Ouch.

Simmons Ending Connecticut Senate Campaign

How's this for sad irony? An actual decorated Vietnam war hero can't get his party's nomination for Senate in Connecticut while a lying sack of fecal matter like Richard Blumenthal gets his.

Life just isn't fair sometimes.

Former Rep. Rob Simmons has scheduled a campaign announcement for 9 a.m. this morning and multiple Connecticut outlets are reporting he’ll end his campaign for the Republican Senate nomination.

The announcement will follow Simmons defeat for the GOP’s endorsement to run against Democrat Richard Blumenthal.

The Connecticut Mirror reports: ‘Simmons has not notified Republican officials or the GOP’s endorsed candidate, Linda McMahon, of his intentions. He did not answer his cell phone Monday night. ‘He keeps his own counsel these days,’ a former GOP official said. But a source who declined to be identified said that Simmons’ staff was told the campaign was ending, bowing to the difficulties of fighting the best-financed candidate in Connecticut history: McMahon, a co-founder of World Wrestling Entertainment who is seeking office for the first time.’

Peter Schiff is still in the campaign for now, but he'll likely withdraw and leave the GOP nod to Linda McMahon. I've very dubious of McMahon but given the choice between her and a lowlife like Blumenthal the choice is easy.

Lying Dick Busted Again

You get the feeling it'll be another lie exposed every day with this lowlife scumbag.

US Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal has been caught yet again insinuating he served in Vietnam when he never set foot there.

The latest embarrassment to the once-soaring Connecticut Democratic hopeful comes from the archives of the Milford Mirror, a weekly paper.

While addressing a crowd at a 2007 Memorial Day parade -- which included the family of a Marine killed in Iraq -- Blumenthal said, "In Vietnam, we had to endure taunts and insults, and no one said, welcome home."

The Democrat added, "I say, welcome home."

In fact, Blumenthal had never served in Vietnam.

So naturally the Democrats last night endorsed this pathological liar.

Despite the revelations, state Democrats gave Blumenthal their endorsement last night to run for the seat vacated by Chris Dodd, who is retiring.

The White House also never met a serial fantasist they wouldn't embrace. After all, there's one playing the role of president these days. We'll be sure to remind them of this when eventually Blumenthal becomes a liability and is thrown under the bus.

The White House is standing by Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who admitted this week to having misstated his military service on some occasions, but insisted he never intentionally meant to claim he had served in Vietnam.

The controversy had threatened to derail Blumenthal’s campaign for U.S. Senate to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd.

When asked about Blumenthal today, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Blumenthal had “our continued support.’’

Lying Lowlife Blumenthal's Lead in Senate Race Vanishes Overnight

It appears the sane people of Connecticut aren't buying the drivel offered up by serial liar Dick Blumenthal. What was a 13-point lead over Linda McMahon the other day has disappeared and is now just a three-point edge, withing the margin of error. His once formidable lead over Rob Simmons and Peter Schiff has already drastically shrunk since news came out he is a serial fabricator who's been lying his ass off the past 30 years.

Following a New York Times report that he exaggerated his military record, Democratic Senate hopeful Richard Blumenthal has lost ground in match-ups against all his potential Republican challengers in Connecticut.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Connecticut finds Blumenthal with just a three-point advantage over Linda McMahon, 48% to 45%. Two weeks ago, he led the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment by 13 percentage points. The New York Times story broke late Monday; the survey was taken Tuesday evening.

Since Democrats apparently don't mind having liars in their midst, for now they're sticking by him, but once Blumenthal is trailing Republicans they'll surely jettison him out of political expediency. Every statement of his in the public eye will now be pored over and you can almost be assured more "misplace words" (a/k/a lies) are sure to surface.

It's time for this windbag to go.

In a press conference yesterday, Blumenthal bravely and selflessly took "full responsibility" for "a few misplaced words" that caused him to repeatedly lie about his own military service.

You see, a lifetime of talking incessantly -- often about yourself -- in return for applause and a good paycheck leads to another grave malady that strikes many politicians.

They become delusional and start actually thinking that they did brilliantly serve in Vietnam. And that their service manning a stapler -- a dangerous object in untrained hands, you know -- really does give them the right to claim valiant service alongside America's soldiers.

Well, the time now has come for Blumenthal to finally serve his nation honorably. And for real. He should quit the race.

Attempts at damage control are already underway for the disgraced Connecticut Attorney General Richard (Dick) Blumenthal. But there's just no ambiguity here. He says he served in Vietnam and he didn't. Some things you just can't spin, try as hard as you might.

Previewing a campaign event tomorrow, Myers wrote that "Dick has a long record of standing up for veterans. Tomorrow, veterans will be standing up with Dick."

Dick may have a long record, but how will we know those standing up for Dick are actual veterans? Can we get a check of their records, Dick?

While the Linda McMahon campaign is taking credit for feeding the info to the Times, it's worth noting GOP contender Rob Simmons actually served in Vietnam.

Rob’s public service career began when he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1965 as a Private, and spent 19 months in Vietnam where he earned two Bronze Star Medals. Rob continued his military service in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Military Intelligence Officer, retiring as a Colonel in 2003 with over 37 years of active and reserve service.

He is past commander of the 434th Military Intelligence (MI) Detachment New Haven, CT, which won the Reserve Officers Association’s Outstanding Small Unit Award in 1996. In 1998, Rob was recognized by for his contributions to the Military Intelligence Corps with the Knowlton Award for "Integrity, Moral Character, Professional Competence and Selflessness.”

Replacement candidates for Blumenthal are already being mentioned.

A New York Times report Monday night that Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal had lied about serving in Vietnam had pundits and pollsters across the nation speculating about the impact that it will have on an already tough mid-season election for Democrats.

Speculation immediately turned to Northwest Connecticut’s local congressman, 5th District U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy, as a possible “replacement” candidate should this revelation be a death blow for the Blumenthal campaign.

An organization called Public Policy Polling tested Murphy against potential Republican nominees Linda McMahon and Rob Simmons in early January. He led both by 7 points, but the organization said the poll basically functioned as “generic Democrat” against McMahon or Simmons since Murphy has “low name recognition” statewide.

'We Have Learned Something Important Since the Days That I Served in Vietnam'

Surprise! Another phony Democrat soldier. This one is basically a shoo-in to inherit Chris Dodd's seat in Connecticut.

Well, maybe not.

At a ceremony honoring veterans and senior citizens who sent presents to soldiers overseas, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut rose and spoke of an earlier time in his life.

“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008. “And you exemplify it. Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it — Afghanistan or Iraq — we owe our military men and women unconditional support.”

There was one problem: Mr. Blumenthal, a Democrat who is now running for the United States Senate, never served in Vietnam. He obtained at least five military deferments from 1965 to 1970 and took repeated steps that enabled him to avoid going to war, according to records.

The deferments allowed Mr. Blumenthal to complete his studies at Harvard; pursue a graduate fellowship in England; serve as a special assistant to The Washington Post’s publisher, Katharine Graham; and ultimately take a job in the Nixon White House.

In 1970, with his last deferment in jeopardy, he enlisted in the Marine Reserve, landing a coveted spot in a unit in Washington, D.C., which virtually guaranteed that he would not be sent to Vietnam. The unit conducted part-time drills and other exercises and focused on local projects, like fixing a campground and organizing a Toys for Tots drive.

Many politicians have faced questions over their decisions during the Vietnam War, and Mr. Blumenthal, who is seeking the seat being vacated by Senator Christopher J. Dodd, is not alone in staying out of the war.

But what is striking about Mr. Blumenthal’s record is the contrast between the many steps he took that allowed him to avoid Vietnam, and the misleading way he often speaks about that period of his life now, especially when he is speaking at veterans’ ceremonies or other patriotic events.

Sometimes his remarks have been plainly untrue, as in his speech to the group in Norwalk. At other times, he has used more ambiguous language, but the impression left on audiences can be similar.

In an interview on Monday, the attorney general said that he had misspoken about his service during the Norwalk event and might have misspoken on other occasions.

“My intention has always been to be completely clear and accurate and straightforward, out of respect to the veterans who served in Vietnam,” he said.

Except for that part about lying about your service.

Bye-bye, Dick.

At a 2008 ceremony in front of the Veterans War Memorial Building in Shelton, he praised the audience for paying tribute to troops fighting abroad, noting that America had not always done so. “I served during the Vietnam era,” he said. “I remember the taunts, the insults, sometimes even physical abuse.”

Mr. Blumenthal, 64, is known as a brilliant lawyer who likes to argue cases in court and uses language with power and precision. He is also savvy about the news media, and attentive to how he is portrayed in the press.

We'll see about that tomorrow.

If he's got the slightest shred of decency he resigns from office and terminates his campaign.

Ready for More Feigned Outrage? AIG Actually Paid $218 Million in Bonuses

That figure is now $53 million more than originally reported. The Democrats ought to be able to milk a few more days of rage out of this now.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Connecticut's attorney general says documents turned over to his office by American International Group Inc. shows the company paid out $218 million in bonuses, higher than the $165 million previously disclosed.

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal's office received the documents late Friday after issuing a subpoena.

Blumenthal says the documents show that 73 people received at least $1 million apiece, and five of those got bonuses of more than $4 million. The financially ailing insurance giant has been under fire for giving bonuses after receiving more than $182.5 billion in federal bailout money.

AIG spokesman Mark Herr declined to comment Saturday.

Yeah, he's probably in hiding now that the bus tours of AIG homeowners is under way.

Meanwhile, in a comic turn of events, one of the architects of this fiasco is now playing the victim. Poor thing.

On-the-ropes Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd swung back at his critics yesterday, claiming he was misled over the hefty taxpayer-funded bonuses for AIG executives.

Dodd made the comments amid fury over the $165 million in bonuses the troubled insurer gave executives.

"No one's angrier than I am to watch something I thought was worthwhile, that I put in the bill," altered in a way that led to the AIG bonuses, Dodd said.

He said he was wrongly held up as the sole person responsible.

"Now everyone's getting religion on the issue," said Dodd.

I'm praying the voters give him the boot next year.
