George Will Notes 121 Democrats are Economic Terrorists

Fomrer White House car czar Steven Rattner, who agreed to a $10 million settlement in a kickback scheme, recently called Republicans economic terrorists. Today on This Week he was gangster-slapped by George Will.
Later Will reminded Rattner that he also compared the Tea Party to suicide bombers, which Rattner denied. Although ABC’s Cokie Roberts settled that mini-debate by confirming “terrorists are suicide bombers.” Not to mention the fact that Rattner’s exact words were that members of the Tea Party were essentially strapping dynamite to their chest as a negotiation strategy. Yet, if the Tea Party members who opposed raising the debt ceiling were “terrorists,” since that was the only way possible to avoid default, then Will had a shocking revelation for Rattner regarding who voted for eventual debt deal that passed:

“You do know that 95 House Democrats voted against raising the debt ceiling as compared to only 66 House Republicans. You do know that 26 Democratic Senators voted against raising the debt ceiling?”

That’s right, by Rattner’s logic then, it’s actually the Democratic party that has more “terrorists” amongst their ranks since more of them voted against raising the debt ceiling at the last crucial moment. What should be embarrassing for Rattner and others who have resorted to such “violent rhetoric” to describe the peaceful and persistent views of the Tea Party is that it’s become clear they would prefer to belittle a viewpoint popular with many, rather than attempt to convince more Americans of the merits of their philosophy.

Peru Revokes Parole for 'Activist' Lori Berenson

Amazing how low media standards have sunk when a convicted leftist terrorist is called an activist.
A court in Peru has revoked parole for American activist Lori Berenson. It orders that she be captured and sent back to prison to finish the last five years of her 20-year prison sentence for aiding leftist rebels.
The BBC refers to her as a 'rebel' in their account.

A Peruvian site accurately calls Berenson what she is, a Marxist.

Previously.

'Go Away, Terrorist!'

Doesn't seem like the Peruvians are exactly thrilled to have convicted terrorist Lori Berenson out living among them. Of course according to the Associated Press this poor misguided naif isn't a terrorist.

She's an activist. The alternate reality of the media really is something to behold. Mainstream Americans of right-of-center persuasion are typically maligned as frothing "extremists" while actual terrorists are known as activists. And they wonder why people hold them in such contempt. At least the Peruvian people know a terrorist when they see one.
Activist Lori Berenson walked out of prison smiling Thursday but got a chilly reception from her new neighbors after serving three-quarters of a 20-year sentence for aiding leftist rebels.

Now 40, the New Yorker spent more than a third of her life behind bars — getting married, giving birth, undergoing back surgery — but never denouncing the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement she was convicted of abetting.

When she was arrested in November 1995 with the wife of the group's leader, prosecutors said Berenson was helping it plot a takeover of Peru's Congress that never happened. The following month, police found a forged ID card bearing her photo in a raid on a rebel safe house.

But Berenson apparently became less strident over the years, many of them spent in frigid prisons in the high Andes. Documents her defense team provided to the judge who granted her parole Tuesday said Berenson had "recognized she committed errors" getting involved with the rebels.
If she's recognized her errors, then why is she going to work for a far-left, America-hating group?
A year after Berenson's arrest, the Tupac Amaru gained notoriety when 13 of its members stormed the Japanese ambassador's residents and seized hostages. Among their demands was Berenson's release. The standoff ended 126 days later with all the rebels killed.

Berenson's release Thursday from Santa Monica women's prison was a tempest in itself. She squeezed through a horde of reporters into a car driven by her husband and attorney, Anibal Apari, to be driven to the Lima apartment where she is to reside.

Two Peruvian reporters jumped into the car, which had a minor collision a block away with a TV channel's vehicle.

Their couple's son, Salvador, who has been living with his mother since his birth a year ago, was taken to the apartment separately by Berenson's parents, who flew in from New York City on Wednesday.

The judge who granted Berenson parole said she must stay in Lima until her sentence ends in November 2015. But Peru's justice minister, Victor Garcia, told the Radioprogramas network Thursday that the Cabinet could decide to commute the sentence and expel Berenson.

"This is a really nasty situation for Peruvians,"
Garcia said, suggesting the government was not necessarily pleased Berenson had been paroled. President Alan Garcia said Tuesday that it was not his place to comment on whether he considered the judge's decision appropriate.

It was unclear whether any other legal problems could complicate Berenson's eventual return to the United States. U.S. Embassy spokesman James Fennell said he could not comment on the case due to privacy laws.

Many Peruvians were unhappy with Berenson's release.

"Go away, terrorist!" shouted 42-year-old Carol Philips as Berenson and Apari pushed their way through a throng of journalists to get into the apartment building in the upscale Miraflores neighborhood where Berenson is to live.

Her parents told The Associated Press they came not just for the joy of their daughter's release but also to help childproof the apartment.

"I don't know whose idea it was to put this terrorist here as a neighbor," said another neighbor, Rene Vela.

Berenson appeared calm, almost bemused, as she sat for some five minutes in the Apari's car outside the apartment. She wore dangling bead earrings, a khaki green button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up and carried a black bag with blue straps.

She did not speak to reporters.

The Miraflores district mayor, Manuel Macias, told reporters Berenson should find a home elsewhere.

"The way out of this perhaps is for her expulsion from the country," he said.

The judge who paroled Berenson said she had "completed re-education, rehabilitation and re-socialization" and demonstrated "positive behavior."

Berenson has long maintained she was a political prisoner and not a terrorist. She shouted to reporters in her first public appearance after her November 1995 arrest: "There are no criminal terrorists in the MRTA. It is a revolutionary movement."
No doubt when this maggot returns to America she'll be feted on the talk-show and lecture circuits and will be eagerly courted by publishers.

They should have executed her 15 years ago.

Anthrax Killer: 'I'm Voting for Obama!'

I blame, in no particular order: Frank Rich, Jonathan Capeheart, Keith Olbermann, the leftwing blogosphere, anti-war organizers, Paul Begala, James Carville, the Democratic Party, Arianna Huffington, Kos and the climate of hate fostered by the angry left all these years.
The FBI records show that some Ivins acquaintances shared with the FBI e-mail and instant message communications exchanged with the scientist. In a July 2008 e-mail, Ivins wrote that "Dick Cheney scares me. The Patriot Act is so unconstitutional it's not even funny." He added, "I'm voting for Obama!"
Let see: Hates Cheney: Check. Whines about the Patriot Act: Check. Voted for Obama. Check.

It's official. Using the finely-tuned journalistic standards of the left, we can only conclude Ivins was spurred to murder due to the violent rhetoric and hate speech of those named above.

Can't blame Cheney. Can't blame Palin. Can't blame "teabaggers" for any of this.

Even worse, Ivins hated the Yankees.
A laboratory co-worker reported that Ivins hated the New York Yankees and thought New Yorkers were "elitist."
Funny, but as a Bronx native and Yankees fan I don't think I've ever been called an elitist.

I wonder if anyone of the above suspects want to take a crack at linking Ivins to tea parties? Please, just for fun?

Glenn Reynolds wonders:
I wonder if he and Amy Bishop ever met?

Radical Left Terror Group Creates More Green Jobs

Probably won't be long before we find Van Jones is a member of ELF. Just think how many "green jobs" will be created to repair the damage.
Two radio station towers near Seattle that have generated intense local opposition were toppled early Friday in an act of sabotage that bore the initials of the radical Earth Liberation Front.

An e-mail from the North American ELF Press Office, which has represented the shadowy group in the past, says the towers for KRKO-AM were torn down because of health and environmental concerns. Authorities say a banner that bore the initials of the ELF was left at the scene.

Lora Lee, a spokeswoman for KRKO owner and general manager Andy Skotdal, says Skotdal doesn't have an immediate damage estimate.

Skotdal says KRKO remains on the air and will continue to broadcast using a back-up transmitter until the original towers are once again operational.
Yes, indeed, these leftwing terrorists actually have a press office.

Maybe the FBI ought to call that number.

Paroled SLA Terrorist Turned Professor to Land In Illinois

This maggot winds up serving a mere six years for the murder of a mother of four children and gets to move to Illinois despite the objection of police organizations. Who said crime didn't pay for these leftwing radicals?
The last imprisoned member of the 1970s-era Symbionese Liberation Army has been cleared to serve his parole in Illinois after his release next month from a California prison, corrections officials said Tuesday.

James Kilgore, 61, is completing a six-year sentence at High Desert State Prison in Susanville for his role in the murder of Myrna Opsahl, a mother of four who was killed during a 1975 bank robbery in Carmichael, a Sacramento suburb.

California corrections spokeswoman Terry Thornton said Illinois authorities have agreed to supervise Kilgore for a year. Federal authorities have approved his transfer to Illinois, where he will be supervised as part of a federal term he completed after being convicted of charges related to his years with the SLA and fleeing the country.

Another SLA fugitive, Sara Jane Olson, was released from prison last month and allowed to return to her home in St. Paul, Minn.

The Symbionese Liberation Army was a band of radicals from mostly middle-class backgrounds that sought to foment revolution and overthrow the government. Best known for the 1974 kidnapping of newspaper heiress Patricia Hearst, it claimed responsibility for assassinating Oakland Schools Superintendent Marcus Foster and was involved in a shootout with Los Angeles police officers that killed five SLA members.

Kilgore's wife moved to Illinois after her husband was arrested in 2002 in South Africa after nearly three decades on the run. She teaches at the University of Illinois in Champaign. While on the lam, Kilgore became a University of Cape Town professor under the alias of Charles William Pape.

He served his state prison term after completing a 4 1/2-year federal prison sentence for using a deceased baby's birth certificate to obtain a passport and for possession of a pipe bomb that federal authorities said they found in his Daly City apartment in 1975.
Sounds like a swell guy. I'm sure he'll be warmly welcomed in Champaign.

More here.
Kilgore disappeared from San Francisco on Sept. 18, 1975, the day FBI agents arrested Hearst and four other SLA members.

He went with Olson, known then as Kathy Soliah, first to Minneapolis, then to Zimbabwe. Olson returned to the United States, while he remained in Africa until his arrest.

Freeman, his attorney, said Kilgore has served his prison time like he lived his life after he fled the country: teaching.

He taught other inmates Spanish and English as a second language, and learned sign language himself. Both Freeman and a 2003 probation report refer to Kilgore as a "model inmate" with no disciplinary problems.

"He's just the kind of person who makes the best of every situation," said Freeman. "He's not somebody who grouses or complains or can't wait to get out."

He expects Kilgore will return to teaching and writing, following the mold of former '60s radicals Angela Davis and Bill Ayers.
