The State Department says the passport files of the three presidential candidates—Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton and John McCain—have been breached.I guess nobody bothered with Ron Paul's file.
State Department spokesman Sean McCormack says the individual who accessed Obama's files also reviewed McCain's file. This contract employee has been reprimanded, but not fired.
McCormack says the department is still reviewing options for dealing with that person.
More here.
McCain issued a statement saying: “The U.S. government has a responsibility to respect the privacy of all Americans. It appears that privacy was breached and I expect a thorough review and a change in procedures as necessary to ensure the privacy of all passport files.”ABC News is treating the story as if it's a threat to national security.
Just imagine if the media mustered up such angst when the Clintons had their paws on hundreds of FBI files.
