This town has been a summer haven for generations of African-Americans, from writers like Dorothy West to civil rights leader the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.I guess that nonsense from Obama about wanting privacy was BS.
But none have caused quite as much commotion as President Obama, whose dinner out here Tuesday night had residents flooding into the streets - and bursting with pride.
"I just wanted to come and breathe the same air as them," said Gloria Rayburn, 75, who joined some 800-plus others along Oak Bluffs' main drag, where they had gathered in hopes of catching a glimpse of America's first black President.
