Michael Reagan May Challenge Feinstein

One thing we can be assured of: If Michael Reagan indeed runs against Dianne Feinstein in 2012, the lamestream media will be trotting out the ballerina to bash him at every opportunity.
Two years ago, two major Republican campaigns swarmed the California GOP fall convention, confident that they could drum up the support to beat three-term incumbent Democrat Sen. Barbara Boxer, who was considered vulnerable because of her low voter-approval ratings.

This year, as 1,000 GOP activists gather today in Los Angeles for their fall convention, things are different, as even the California Republican Party chairman has no idea who will take on 19-year-incumbent Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein next year - and no major candidates have stepped up.

But the landscape may change soon, analysts said, given Feinstein's recent campaign money problems and a Field Poll released today that gives one of California's most consistently popular politicians a 41 percent approval rating, the lowest of her Senate career.

One person considering a run, The Chronicle has learned, is Michael Reagan, a former conservative talk-radio host and the son of former President Ronald Reagan

Republicans may consider a challenge to Feinstein less foreboding after the survey of 1,001 registered voters found that 39 percent disapprove of Feinstein's performance and 20 percent have no opinion.

For the first time since being elected to the Senate in 1992, a plurality - 44 percent - of Field Poll respondents were "not inclined" to vote for her while 41 percent were. The margin of error for the survey is plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
Granted, it's nearly impossible to remove these entrenched Democrat senators in California, although Boxer did sweat it out a bit against Carly Fiorina last year. But keep in mind while Feinstein's numbers are pretty weak, Obama is also under 50% in the state. If he's facing trouble in the state come next November, a very strong possibility, Feinstein could be vulnerable. Having Michael Reagan take her out would be sweet.
Compounding Feinstein's problems is that her longtime campaign treasurer, Kinde Durkee, has been arrested on charges that she stole or misappropriated $670,000 from state Assemblyman Jose Solorio, D-Anaheim. Feinstein's $5.2 million re-election war chest may or may not be "wiped out," said her campaign consultant Bill Carrick.
Longtime GOP Congressman David Dreier, a possible casualty of redistricting, could also be a GOP possibility.
One prominent possible candidate is Rep. David Dreier, R-San Dimas (Los Angeles County), who has served in Congress since 1981. After redistricting put him in a much more competitive district, several GOP insiders suggested he might run for Senate. Dreier had $753,262 cash on hand June 30, according to federal campaign finance reports.

About That Morning Cup of Coffee: None For You, California

Earlier today I found out that Dunkin Donuts was offering K-cups for their coffee products. For those not familiar, K-cups are the individual containers of coffee that go into Keurig coffee makers. They make one cup of coffee with no muss and no fuss. You just pop the little cup into the coffee maker, hit the button and once the process is complete about 30 seconds later you simply lift it out and toss it into garbage. I have had a Keurig coffee maker for a couple of years now and just love it because besides coffee there are also teas and hot chocolate cups available.

Anyway, enough about my coffee maker. When I went to the Dunkin Donuts website to check on the price of the K-cups I was greeted with this little disclaimer at the bottom of their shopping page.
Important Notice: We are temporarily suspending the shipment of orders to California while we work to comply with Proposition 65 with the State of California. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Ooh, sounds scary. So I decided to find out what this Proposition 65 was. It is basically a list of ingredients in products that the loopy liberals in California find to be dangerous for one reason or another.
In 1986, California voters approved an initiative to address their growing concerns about exposure to toxic chemicals. That initiative became the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, better known by its original name of Proposition 65. Proposition 65 requires the State to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm. This list, which must be updated at least once a year, has grown to include approximately 800 chemicals since it was first published in 1987.

Proposition 65 requires businesses to notify Californians about significant amounts of chemicals in the products they purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment. By providing this information, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about protecting themselves from exposure to these chemicals. Proposition 65 also prohibits California businesses from knowingly discharging significant amounts of listed chemicals into sources of drinking water.
That list is currently now 22 pages long and basically includes everything you come into contact with by doing such things as breathing. Among some of the dangerous substances listed are aspirin, caffeic acid, cocaine, various food colorings, marijuana smoke, oral contraceptives, testosterone and the list goes on and on.

I find it highly ironic that the state which has legalized marijuana sold on every street corner also lists marijuana smoke on their list of dangerous chemicals. Too bad they don't treat dope smokers the same way they treat tobacco smokers. The fact that testosterone is on the list really isn't surprising given the general population in the state. Just sayin' and not that there is anything wrong with that.

So California, instead of getting your morning started with a cup of hot coffee, enjoy your tofu colada or whatever the hell you are allowed to drink while you try to figure out just why businesses are leaving your pathetic little fascist state faster then a NASCAR driver on a qualifying run.

Shock Poll: Extremist Teabagger Californians Want Givebacks From Public Employees

As the state of California crumbles under the weight of massive deficits and uncontrolled spending, a stunning poll reveals these wild-eyed extremists actually think it's time for public employee unions to start giving up some of their lavish benefits. To use Democrat-speak, it's time for them to give their fair share.
California voters want government employees to give up some retirement benefits to help ease the state's financial problems, favoring a cap on pensions and a later age for collecting them, according to a new poll.

Voter support for rolling back benefits available to few outside the public sector comes as Gov. Jerry Brown and Republicans in the Legislature haggle over changes to the pension system as part of state budget negotiations. Such benefits have been a flashpoint of national debate this year, and the poll shows that Californians are among those who perceive public retirement plans to be too costly.

Voters appear ready to embrace changes not just for future hires but also for current employees who have been promised the benefits under contract.

Seventy percent of respondents said they supported a cap on pensions for current and future public employees. Nearly as many, 68%, approved of raising the amount of money government workers should be required to contribute to their retirement. Increasing the age at which government employees may collect pensions was favored by 52%.

Although pension costs today account for just a fraction of the state budget, they are putting local governments under considerable financial strain, and analysts say effects on the state may not be far off.

"It's pretty clear that there's broad support for making changes in the area of pensions," said Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg, who co-directed the bipartisan poll for The Times and the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.
So a Democrat-run poll in a Democrat state says it's time for these greedy unions to give something back.

Go figure.
"It's just gotten way out of hand," said Beverly Marcelja, a 67-year old Democrat and retiree living in Tracy, in the Central Valley.
Let the head-scratching begin.
"It's one thing for Republican governors in Wisconsin and Indiana to support these types of changes, but seeing this type of support from California voters, even California Democrats, is really remarkable," said Dan Schnur, director of the Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics at USC and a former GOP strategist.
Indeed. But let's not get too excited. It appears a majority are OK with tax hikes, or at least a special election to decide on whether to increase taxes.

Japan Nukes West Coast of America

I guess this is their response to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

For our friends on the left coast you have time to flee to one of those red states you hate so much and here is a little more information for you.

Exposure from x-rays or gamma rays is measured in units of roentgens. For example:

* Total body exposure of 100 roentgens (or 1 Gy) causes radiation sickness.
* Total body exposure of 400 roentgens (or 4 Gy) causes radiation sickness and death in half the individuals. Without medical treatment, nearly everyone who receives more than this amount of radiation will die within 30 days.
* 100,000 rads causes almost immediate unconsciousness and death within an hour

Enjoy the weather!

'It's Absolutely Insanity'

As if California didn't have enough money troubles. Now taxpayers are on the hook for love letters from prisoners. To other prisoners. Yes, really.
10News discovered California taxpayers are footing the bill for California inmates to send love letters to other inmates.

"It's absolutely insanity," said Nina Ashord of Crime Victims United of California. "From a crime victim's standpoint, I find it extremely offensive and from a tax payer's standpoint."

Some letters described the sex acts female inmates promised to perform on their pen pals.

If an inmate can't afford an envelope, a stamp or paper to write on, the state will pay for it through the indigent mail program.

"I would tolerate that to have people have more appropriate connections that have them live better lives," said Kent Peters, who has corresponded with a death row inmate for 11 years. "The good it does, I'm sure, far outweighs some inmates playing some word games with their loved ones out there."

According to California's Department Of Corrections, Donovan State Prison in San Diego spends about $16,000 per year on the indigent mail program.

Although the Department of Corrections would not give 10News numbers for every prison in the state, sources inside the prison system said on average, the state's 33 prisons spend a total of $330,000 every year on indigent mail.

8th Wonder of the World: How Jerry Brown Polls Anywhere North of LOL

I know, I know. It's California.

Still.

Is the state so far-gone, so reflexively blue that a majority of voters can always be counted on to pull the lever for any bozo who happens to win the Democratic nomination?

Even a misogynist bozo who just comes right out and admits he's a lying sack of crap?

Support Meg Whitman. She's not a lying sack of crap.

California Pols Want to Ban State Rock

Only in the land of fruits and nuts would they come up with such idiocy. Of course it's wrapped int he cloak of health concerns but what we're looking at here is an attempt at a giant payday for greedy trial lawyers and politicians.
Empirically speaking, geologists are not a particularly irascible group. But those who make their living studying rocks, minerals and gems in California — and increasingly those scientists beyond the state’s borders — are enraged over a bill in Sacramento that would knock serpentine, the official state rock, off its mantel.

The lawmaker and others who would like to see serpentine stripped of its title say the olive green rock found all over the state is a grim symbol of the deadly cancers associated with asbestos, which can be found in the rock. Geologists, who have taken to Twitter on behalf of the rock, assert that serpentine is harmless and is being demonized by advocates for people with asbestos-related diseases and possibly their trial lawyers, too.

The bill to defrock the rock — which recently passed the full State Senate and is awaiting a vote in the Assembly — is sponsored by Senator Gloria Romero, a Los Angeles Democrat, with the strong support of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization.

Declaring that serpentine “has known health effects,” the bill would leave California — one of roughly half the states in the nation with an official rock or mineral — without an official rock. (According to the bill, California was the first state, in 1965, to name an official rock.) Asbestos occurs naturally in many minerals, and indeed some serpentine rocks do serve as a host for chrysotile, a form of asbestos. But geologists say chrysotile is less harmful than some other forms of asbestos, and would be a danger — like scores of other rocks — only if a person were to breathe its dust repeatedly.

“There is no way anyone is going to get bothered by casual exposure to that kind of rock,” said Malcolm Ross, a geologist who retired from the United States Geological Survey in 1995. “Unless they were breaking it up with a sledgehammer year after year.”

Dr. Ross and other opponents of the bill are concerned that removing serpentine, which is occasionally used in jewelry, as the state’s rock would demonize it and thus inspire litigation against museums, property owners and other sites where the rocks sit; they cite the inclusion of a letter of support from the Consumer Attorneys of California with the bill as evidence.

“If they keep the asbestos issue bubbling,” Dr. Ross said, “it means money for politicians, more money for lawyers and money for scientists to investigate.”
And that's what it's all about. How idiotic is this? Even the folks at the San Francisco Chronicle wonder why there aren't better things to do in a state withering under a massive budget deficit.
Serpentine won its status in 1965 in an era when asbestos was promoted for insulation and heat resistance. Its backers were promoting a nascent industry by pushing it as the state rock.

But a serpentine rock undisturbed in the wild is harmless. So is an official state rock that no one knows about. Meanwhile, the fiscal year began this week without a state budget, and state workers have been knocked back to minimum wage as a result. Our elected officials have more important work to do.

American Flag 'Graffiti' Reappears in Bay Area

American patriots mark Independence Day by undoing a monumental case of the stupids.
The flag is still there. Or, rather, it's back.

After an absence of a few days, a mural of an American flag has returned to a hillside above Interstate 680 in Sunol — just in time for the Fourth of July.

Caltrans had obliterated the previous mural, but thanks to two patriots, the colors of Old Glory are once again visible.

On Saturday, the two men climbed the steep hill above the highway near the Sunol Grade and painted a bold new red, white and blue flag to replace the mural that a Caltrans crew painted over earlier in the week, news reports said.

"I thought it was kind of rude for them to cover it a couple days before Fourth of July," Steve Giordano told a CBS 5 reporter.

Giordano and another man, Jim Gallagher, decided to restore the flag mural Caltrans painted over, proving that good, old-fashioned American ingenuity and the can-do spirit are not dead.

News of Caltrans' action touched off a furor nationwide and prompted an apology Friday from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

East Bay residents R.J. Waldron, Eric Noda and Thomas Hanley painted the 35-foot mural on Sept. 24, 2001, to honor those who died in the Sept. 11 terror attacks. The giant flag, which covered a giant concrete siding, was on state property.

Caltrans spokesman Allyn Amsk told Bay Area News Group Wednesday that it had recently come to his department's attention that the flag was on state land without permission.

"We don't allow graffiti on state property," Amsk said. "No matter what kind of graffiti it is, we don't show favoritism."
Motorists along 680 weren't as offended as Amsk.
Regular 680 commuters said they were upset.

"I don't know why they would consider it graffiti. We live in America. It should be a patriotic symbol that everybody should enjoy,"
said Joseph Gross of Tri-Valley Towing.

Sandy Kraft said, "I drive this every day and to not see it up there waving at me, even though it doesn't wave, it's still waving at you."
H/T Jedi.

'Undocumented Migrants' Lead Border Patrol on 100-Mile Chase

Considering what an awful country this is you have to wonder why these 'undocumented' people are so desperate to get in here? Instead of deporting these miscreants, I say we drop them off at the White House and let them live there.
Border Patrol agents chased a Ford Expedition 100 miles from the Mexico border to Irvine early Saturday morning before taking the driver and six undocumented passengers into custody, authorities said.

About 1:25 a.m. in Otay Mesa, a border town, an agent noticed several people suspected of being illegal immigrants jump into the Expedition, said Border Patrol spokesman Michael Jimenez.

The Border Patrol and other agencies gave chase by car and by helicopter as the SUV sped north, at times exceeding 100 miles per hour, Jimenez said. The SUV raced up the 805 Freeway to the 5 Freeway, and finally came to a stop -- almost an hour after the chase began -- on the shoulder of I-5 near the Culver Drive exit in Irvine, he said.
So we're wasting taxpayer dollars on these criminals and are just supposed to suck it up and take it. If we complain we're raaaaacist!
Jimenez said the driver, a 38-year-old Mexican citizen whose name he declined to release, is being held pending possible charges. He said the six occupants did not appear to have significant criminal records. “They were processed and will be returned to Mexico,” he said.
Possible charges? Huh? Nice to see the undocumenteds didn't have significant records, but I guess they still have records.

So we have some illegal maniacs endangering the lives of motorists along a 100-mile stretch of the interstate and it's just "ho hum" business as usual.

But don't forget, it's the GOP risking alienating Hispanic voters if we dare to complain about this behavior, so shut up all you bigots.

The Desperation of the Democrats is Almost Laughable

I say almost laughable, but Ms. Whitman might want to look at getting some backup for her intern spokesperson.

When asked for a response to a Socialist Democrat front group supporting gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown she had this to say.
Asked about the new Web page, Whitman's campaign deferred to its intern, Marcheta Marshall, who said, "Looks like these guys are pretty worried about Meg.

"Just like Wikipedia, I'm sure my professors won't even allow me to use it as a source for my term papers. So why does Jerry Brown's silly front group think it's good enough for voters? I know reporters won't be fooled into promoting made-up information on a gossip site."
Honey, I've got news for you. First, this is California and second, fooling the media with made up stories is easier then pulling a prank on an eighth-grader. People actually read blogs to get all the background information that the dinosaur media leaves out, so in that respect, while your professors won't allow them to be used as a source, a whole lot of people swear by them and are more likely to believe something written on a wiki site then they are the New York Times.
The site discloses that "the structure of the project allows anyone with an Internet connection to alter its content," so its creators can't guarantee that what is posted is accurate. Users are asked to cite their sources or identify themselves if they are contributing first-hand information.
Meg might want to check with Sarah Palin to see how not responding to all these outlandish rumors works out.

Well, come to think of it, a lot of those stories about Sarah are started by established media.

More Good News: California Funemployment Rate Hits 12.5%

Since Dingy Harry and the Democrats are today celebrating the loss of 36,000 jobs, they'll be so ecstatic at this news they may need plastic surgery to wipe the smiles off their faces.
California employers added 32,500 to their payrolls in January, a sign that the state's moribund labor market might finally be stirring to life.

The gains came as sectors throughout the economy, including construction and manufacturing, started to hire workers, according to numbers released Friday by the Employment Development Department.

The state's unemployment rate increased slight to 12.5% in January, up from a revised 12.3% the previous month, as formerly discouraged workers who had dropped out of the labor force began job-hunting again.

California's unemployment rate remains well above the national rate of 9.7%. But it's not likely to climb much higher, said Sung Won Sohn, an economist at Cal State Channel Islands.

"In California, I think we are probably nearing the peak in the unemployment rate," he said. "It's very easy to be gloomy about overall picture, but I see some strengths."
Yes, it's easy to be gloomy, especially when you live in the real world, where funemployment isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Prince von Ahole To Announce Campaign for Governor of California

Just when you think things can't get any more bizarre from the looney left coast, word is now coming out that the guy dubbed by TMZ as Prince von Ahole is set to announce a run for governor.

I have seen this guy featured on more then a few episodes of TMZ and he is as looney as they get, which means he is a perfect match for California, and his accent is as bad as Ahnold's.
What the world already knows of Prince Frederic von Anhalt reads like a tabloid writer's dream: eighth husband of Zsa Zsa Gabor, lover (never confirmed) of Anna Nicole Smith, self-proclaimed member of European royalty.

The 65-year-old flamboyant socialite says he'll add a new title on Wednesday: California gubernatorial candidate.

Von Anhalt and his attorney said they will file his candidate papers in late morning at the secretary of state's office in Sacramento.

One bit of advice for Mr von Anhalt, I would avoid San Francisco. It seems he ain't a big fan of gay marriage.

Idaho, Nevada Prepare For Rush of Wealthy Refugees

This sounds like more good news for Nevada, which is already experiencing an increase of businesses and individuals fleeing the bankrupt socialist utopia known as California.
With a surge of last-minute votes expected, Oregon will decide Tuesday whether to impose higher taxes on businesses and people whose income is well into six figures
Liberals only know one policy when it comes to getting money. They love to use the force of law to seize from it one group of citizens--whoever happens to be on their enemies list at the moment--to give to another group. They lack any sort of intellectual power to come up different ways to try and generate revenue or, heaven forbid, they should even think for one moment to maybe, you know, cut spending.

Air America failed because they could not seize money and lacked the product or ingenuity to develop some other way of generating money.

What seems so oxymoronic about the two provisions is that one proposal is to tax wealthy individuals and the other is to tax businesses. Now correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the wealthy individuals the same people who own the businesses that, like, hire the other folks to work so that they can pay taxes?

The only ingenious thing liberals can come up with is Orwellian names to give to these new taxes, that are all too often cloaked behind some sort of really feel good, be kind to puppies, type of title.

It's for the children.....

Obama's New BFF Seeking Bailout for California

Is it any wonder this stooge gave Obama an 'A' grade the other day? Talk about the punchy telegraphing their punches.
Facing a budget deficit of more than $20 billion, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to call for deep reductions in already suffering local mass transit programs, renew his push to expand oil drilling off the Santa Barbara coast and appeal to Washington for billions of dollars in federal help, according to state officials and lobbyists familiar with the plan.

If Washington does not provide roughly $8 billion in new aid for the state, the governor threatens to severely cut back -- if not eliminate -- CalWORKS, the state's main welfare program; the In-Home Health Care Services program for the disabled and elderly poor, and two tax breaks for large corporations recently approved by the Legislature, the officials said.

Schwarzenegger also will propose extending a cut in the state payroll that is scheduled to expire this summer. That cut has translated into 200,000 state workers being furloughed three days a month, the equivalent of a 14% pay cut. Lawmakers would have the option of extending the furloughs, imposing layoffs or some combination of the two.
I'm all for drilling off the coast, but that'll never happen, especially if his boss Obama bails them out. In fact it'll never happen so long as the obstructionist Democrats are running California (into the ground) and Washington. Why have energy independence while we can be submissive to the eco-nuts from the EPA? Eliminating CalWORKS is also a fantastic idea, but that's also a total fantasy.

California's problem is onerous taxation and overzealous regulation have driven many of the producers out of the state leaving everyone else footing the tab. When you have a massive welfare state it eventually collapses. They have no choice but to beg Washington for a bailout but with the current public mood and backlash to Washington growing by the day, can the Democrats afford that? No, they can't afford anything they're doing but since they're spending us into oblivion, bailing out California is chump change compared to where we're heading.

More Dog Gone Problems For California

Uhmm I think they are overlooking the obvious solution to their problem.
The Chihuahua glut has become so severe that representatives from half a dozen San Francisco Bay Area shelters, surrounded by 50 yipping, shivering Chihuahuas, begged animal lovers today to help them find homes for the petite pooches.

In Los Angeles, only pit bulls outnumber Chihuahuas in the city's shelters. At the Peninsula Humane Society in San Mateo, 60% of the dogs awaiting adoption are pure or mixed-breed Chihuahuas. At the San Francisco Animal Care and Control shelter, Chihuahuas are 30% of the canine population and rising. At the East Bay SPCA, it's 50%.

Yeah, yeah, I know tasteless, but what fun is it if I can't make the canine killing PETA types all upset. Too bad Michael Vick didn't know about this "problem".

Chuck Devore Welcomes Carly Fiorina To The Senate Race

Ms Fiorina announced her entry into the race for the senate seat currently held by Barbara Boxer yesterday and in the spirit of the moment Mr Devore, another Republican candidate, already has a video out welcoming her to the contest.

Shut up Mr Gingrich and Steele.

Failed SF Mayor Drops Out of California Governor's Race

He's too busy with a young family or trying to control his lawless city that's been overrun by the homeless hordes. Or something like that. The fact he had no statewide support and was already trailing Jerry Brown by a mile may have also entered into the equation.
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who has been seen as a leading contender to be the next governor of California, announced today that he is quitting the race.

Newsom is withdrawing from the Democratic primary amid lackluster poll numbers and meager fund-raising receipts. His withdrawal leaves state Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown, who is expected to run even though he has not officially entered the race, with little opposition in the Democratic primary.

“It is with great regret I announce today that I am withdrawing from the race for governor of California,” Newsom said in a statement. “With a young family and responsibilities at City Hall, I have found it impossible to commit the time required to complete this effort the way it needs to — and should be — done. This is not an easy decision. But it is one made with the best intentions for my wife, my daughter, the residents of the city and county of San Francisco, and California Democrats.”

Although Newsom had been effectively running for more than a year, his campaign never gained much traction. Even in his hometown, which Newsom touted as a model of cutting-edge policies, his candidacy was widely derided among civic insiders.
Cutting edge policies, like allowing vagrants to set up shop where they please.

The fact the guy wan an alcoholic and slept with his friend's wife may have also contributed to his lack of support. From a comment at the link:
Got news for you, Newsom. Maybe there is such a thing as being too liberal. And sleeping with your bud's wife isn't cool either.
An even more harsh reaction (language warning):
Newsom dropped the word "young" into his exit speech, a move that helps remind people he's a rising political star who in all likelihood plans to try again for higher office, just once he tackles some of those festering homelessness and crime problems he promised to attack when first elected mayor six years ago.

Though losing an alcoholic wife-fucker like Newsom will take some fun out of the gubernatorial race, the contest still features Democratic hopeful Brown, who proposed a state space academy last time he was governor, and Republican contender Meg Whitman, the former eBay CEO whose personal voting record is "unacceptable," according to one Meg Whitman.
In case you forgot about his sordid affair, here's a refresher.

Even the Democrat heavyweights couldn't help.
For Newsom - who reported having just $1.2 million on hand as of June - the task of raising enough money to challenge Brown was daunting. Recent spending reports show that even a big Los Angeles fundraiser with former President Bill Clinton pulled in just 13 individual contributions over $5,000 - hardly the kind of cash haul to signal Newsom would be able to mount a serious challenge.

That effort was made more difficult by the fact that Democratic Party officials had pressured the mayor to refrain from attacking Brown and perhaps damaging him in the general election.

Head East Young Man, Head East

Looks like a new war is breaking out in the wild, wild, west between California and Nevada. Now if Nevada could just promise to put Harry Reid on the unemployment rolls I could really get behind this campaign.

I don't blame Nevada at all for taking advantage of California's woes. I would however warn them to make sure they only go after the businesses and make sure all of the other fruit loops in California stay there, or they will take your state and turn it into what ruined their state in the first place.

And no the irony of the fact that I got this from a British news source (BBC), has not escaped me. Our news here in the states is all about dead celebrities, soon to be dead celebrities and the latest reality show update.

'They're All Stoned on Marijuana'

Living in California and somehow can't get your hands on some weed? Why, just go on Twitter.
Some California pot sellers are living the high life this summer — because high-tech social-networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter are allowing them to legally swap street corners for the Internet.

"Just in! Baby Crunch, Spy Diesel and Critical Mass! Buy a quarter, get a gram," read the "tweets" listing the strains of pot available from the Los Angeles-based non-profit medical-marijuana dispensary Artists Collective, which also promises "free delivery."

Artists Collective has the biggest online presence, with a snazzy Web site, Facebook and MySpace pages and the Twitter feed. San Francisco's more staid The Green Cross has a MySpace page, but like Artists Collective lists its latest arrivals on its own Web site.

"We've been open for six months, and I've been doing this project for 18 [months], and only in the last two weeks with a Twitter account has anybody started paying attention to us," says Dann Halem, director of Artists Collective. "That sends a message — an important one — and it really has been, strangely enough, the fact that we're using Twitter that has opened the door."
Not everyone thinks the open sale of marijuana is a good thing.
"The whole state [of California] seems to be saturated with marijuana farms, and it's a marijuana economy, so if they want to do it, it doesn't bother me," says New Jersey personal-injury lawyer Nicholas Kowalchyn. "It's probably out of control already. That's why the state is in the predicaments it's in. They're all stoned on marijuana."
...
"I don't think medical marijuana serves any medical purpose," he says. "I think it's a scam. I don't think it has any therapeutic effects. I don't think it has much in the way of painkilling effects. I mean, it's just an excuse for people to smoke marijuana. If they want to smoke marijuana then they should just smoke marijuana and not go through a charade of passing some law that permits them to do it on some bogus therapeutic basis. That's just my opinion."

Kooky Columnist on Prop 8: Hey, Imaginary Kids Support Us, So We Won!

Trying to pretend everything's coming out swell, hate-filled San Francisco columnist Mark Morford deludes himself into thinking he's on the winning team.

His evidence? Some mythical kids conjured up in his imagination, of course.

Why, it's just a matter of time until Alabama and Mississippi ratify gay marriage as well. I guess he still refuses to believe the overwhelming majority of black voters do not support the radical gay agenda.
Head on down to your local high school -- hell, make it a junior high or even an elementary -- and take yourself an informal survey. Ask the various wary, bepimpled youth of Generation Tweet what they think about those scary gay people getting married.

Ask them, in your most panicky, alarmist, Mormonified voice: Aren't they horrified at the very idea? Aren't they shocked at the very thought of two people in love having their union officially recognized and validated by the state?

Don't they know the musty ol' Bible mutters some barely coherent, mistranslated silliness about it in a single word or two written 1,500 years ago in a long dead language by acidic church elders with powermad political agendas and violently repressed libidos who nevertheless wish to instruct us all how to live and love and screw?

Please note the response. Please observe how the kids merely look at you as though you're more than a little bit deranged and prehistoric, so out of touch you might as well be Dick Cheney talking up the diesel-powered rectal thermometers he so loved back in World War I.
Classy.

Read the rest and pity this pathetic soul. Can't wait to see what he has to say when the next proposition ballot loses by an even greater number as voters rejects the even more strident, in-your-face radicalism of the militant gay left.
