Even Cavemen Now Joining Twitter

I wonder if this semi-retarded troglodyte will be able to get anything coherent out in 140 characters or less. He's certainly not known for his brevity.
Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan President, has announced that he will start using Twitter, the microblogging site which will test his ability to deliver a concise message.

Mr Chavez speaks to the nation for hours every Sunday on his radio and television program but on Twitter he will be limited to much shorter messages of just 140 characters each time.

His use of Twitter also marks a new tactic in his approach to the internet and social networking.

In January Mr Chavez said that using Twitter, the internet and text messaging to criticise his regime was "terrorism."

He has now decided to use the social networking tool for his own purposes.

"Comandante Chavez is going to open his Twitter account soon to wage the battle online," Diosdado Cabello, director of Venezuela's state-run telecommunications agency, said on Venezuelan television, according to Bloomberg News.

"I'm sure he'll break records for numbers of followers."
Uh, doubtful.

I give him a week until he shuts it down after being unmercifully taunted. Comrade Chavez doesn't like dissent.

And how confused will he be to discover Hugo Chavez is already on Twitter?

Hospitality Exec Plans to Crash Boston 'Tea Party Express of Retards'

I wonder if the folks at Gemini Hospitality Management would find it hospitable that one of their honchos calls people he disagrees with retards.
November marked the opening of two Chelsea properties: The GEM Hotel Chelsea and the Wyndham Garden Hotel Manhattan Chelsea. Below are the executive teams who will be at the helm of the newly-opened hotels.

Andrew Hendricks, recently appointed area director of sales for The GEM Hotel brand, will be overseeing sales operations for The GEM Hotel Chelsea. He is also responsible for the new hotel’s sister properties, The GEM Hotel Midtown West and The GEM Hotel SoHo.

Hendricks comes from Hersha Hospitality Management, where he served as senior area sales manager. He began his career more than two decades ago with Ritz-Carlton, as the director of catering and destination management in Naples, Florida. From there he went on to start his own company, Sky’s the Limit Productions, focusing on the incentive market. Hendricks attended the University of Miami, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.
Nothing like telegraphing your punches, retard.

Maybe some retards should boycott The GEM Hotel Midtown West and The GEM Hotel SoHo and let the folks at GEM Hotel properties know why they're doing so.

It should come as no surprise that among the folks this charmer follows on Twitter are Keith Olbermann and David Schuster.

Perhaps our friends in Boston ought to bring along his photo so they can say hello on Wednesday.

In fact, here's an idea: Put his face on a poster, maybe with something catchy like This man is looking for retards.

Update: Heh. His Tweet went down the memory hole. In fact, his Twitter page also went bye-bye. Too late, dickhead. But the Gem Hotel still has a Twitter page.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do, Unless You Tweet It, Of Course

Am I the only one who finds this a little strange?
At 5:38 p.m. this afternoon, actor Jim Carrey tweeted: “Jenny and I have just ended our 5yr relationship. I’m grateful 4 the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best! S’okay! ?;^>”

Given the Carrey is, to say the least, a tad bit of a prankster, Speakeasy weren’t sure if the “Yes Man” actor was being truthful or not about the end of his relationship with actress and autism activist Jenny McCarthy. He could have been pulling the social-media version of a Jack “Post-It” Berger breakup. So we contacted his publicist, who confirmed that Carrey’s (”tweetment”) was legit, telling us via email: “Jim and Jenny have recently decided to end their five year relationship. They are grateful for the many blessings they have shared and wish each other the very best.”
I've found some interesting folks on Twitter, enjoy following it for news and some occasional chatter, but I think the last thing I'd do is announcing intimate personal news or a breakup. Is this what publicists are for?

Frenchman Hacks Obama's Twitter Account

It apparently wasn't too difficult since our genius leader used his dog's name as part of his password. Of course the dog's name also matches Obama's initials. I doubt it's actually Obama doing the tweeting, but then again when you have such sage tweets like this, it probably is. No word whether the French dude was a racist birther and tea party member, but I'm sure the left will find a connection.
A French computer hacker was facing prison today after breaking into the Twitter accounts of Barack Obama and Britney Spears by ‘guessing’ their passwords.

In the U.S. president's case the key word is said to have included the name of his beloved dog, Bo.

The arrested 25-year-old, a Frenchman who lived with his parents and used the pseudonym ‘Hacker Croll’, was tracked down in a trans-Atlantic police operation coordinated by the FBI.

Agents spent six months on his trail after he managed to gain access to Mr Obama’s Twitter account - a micro-blogging site which the president frequently uses to communicate with voters.

The unemployed defendant - whose real name has not yet been released for legal reasons - was held in a police station in central France city of Clermont-Ferrand before being released on bail.

He will appear in court on June 24 when he faces up to two years in prison for hacking into a computer database.

The investigation is being conducted by French prosecutor Jean-Yves Coquillat.
‘He told us how he got into the accounts, but he’s not a genius,’ said a detective involved in the case. ‘He’d managed to get hold of administrator codes, enabling him to create, modify and delete accounts as he wanted.

‘The only really clever thing he did was to guess people’s passwords. He seemed to do this by studying their characters - watching them on TV, reading their blogs, and generally getting to know them. It was apparently a remarkably easy thing to do, especially in the case of international celebrities like Obama and Britney.

‘Obama is fond of the word Bo, the name of his dog, and used it in a number of passwords.’

Blockhead Gibbs Joins Twitter, Solicits Help

Got some really tech savvy folks at the White House. Spokesmoron Robert Gibbs today entered the 21st century by signing on at Twitter.
Count White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs among a growing group of Democratic press operatives who have recently joined the microblogging site Twitter.

The top White House spokesman set up his Twitter account Saturday, Gibbs confirmed to CNN; Gibbs goes by the Twitter handle @PressSec on the popular service.
He's apparently having problems since all he could churn out has been this so far.
Learning about "the twitter" - easing into this with first tweet - any tips?
Here's some tips. Start acting like an adult and stop lying to our faces every day.

If you're on Twitter, feel free to welcome Gibbs and offer him some kind tips.

Interesting to note he's following, among others, Glenn Greenwald and Kos.

Tweet This!

Via Neal Boortz.

Yesterday the good folks from the Westboro Baptist Church, for reasons only known to them in their fevered little deranged minds, decided to protest the headquarters of Twitter.

Things didn't go exactly has planned however, since they were greeted by a contingent of counter protestors. If nothing else you have to admire the originality of the counter protests signs.

Twitter Finally Serves a Purpose

As someone who uses Twitter, I can declare it's really come through this time. Who needs idle thoughts and chatter when you can have bikini babes?

Hubba hubba.
How Tweet it is!

A Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition employee has put several photos from recent shoots up on her Twitter feed, including a handful of last year's cover model, Bar Refaeli.

The 24-year-old Israeli model looked like she's had no trouble getting over Leonardo DiCaprio.

The shots also include a couple of the issue's rookies, though their faces are obscured before they're unveiled in the magazine. Brooklyn Decker, who married tennis pro Andy Roddick this year, is in another.

The person who posted the photos was identified on the Twitter page as MJ Day, senior associate editor of SI's swimsuit edition.
Seen enough? I didn't think so.

'They're All Stoned on Marijuana'

Living in California and somehow can't get your hands on some weed? Why, just go on Twitter.
Some California pot sellers are living the high life this summer — because high-tech social-networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter are allowing them to legally swap street corners for the Internet.

"Just in! Baby Crunch, Spy Diesel and Critical Mass! Buy a quarter, get a gram," read the "tweets" listing the strains of pot available from the Los Angeles-based non-profit medical-marijuana dispensary Artists Collective, which also promises "free delivery."

Artists Collective has the biggest online presence, with a snazzy Web site, Facebook and MySpace pages and the Twitter feed. San Francisco's more staid The Green Cross has a MySpace page, but like Artists Collective lists its latest arrivals on its own Web site.

"We've been open for six months, and I've been doing this project for 18 [months], and only in the last two weeks with a Twitter account has anybody started paying attention to us," says Dann Halem, director of Artists Collective. "That sends a message — an important one — and it really has been, strangely enough, the fact that we're using Twitter that has opened the door."
Not everyone thinks the open sale of marijuana is a good thing.
"The whole state [of California] seems to be saturated with marijuana farms, and it's a marijuana economy, so if they want to do it, it doesn't bother me," says New Jersey personal-injury lawyer Nicholas Kowalchyn. "It's probably out of control already. That's why the state is in the predicaments it's in. They're all stoned on marijuana."
...
"I don't think medical marijuana serves any medical purpose," he says. "I think it's a scam. I don't think it has any therapeutic effects. I don't think it has much in the way of painkilling effects. I mean, it's just an excuse for people to smoke marijuana. If they want to smoke marijuana then they should just smoke marijuana and not go through a charade of passing some law that permits them to do it on some bogus therapeutic basis. That's just my opinion."

What We've All Been Waiting For: Twitter, the TV Series

How they'll milk a full-length show out of 140 characters is anyone's guess.
Twitter, the Web site that asks what everybody's doing, says it wants to be doing a TV series.

The social-networking service said Monday it has teamed with Reveille productions and Brillstein Entertainment Partners to develop an unscripted series based on the site, which invites 140-character postings from members around the world.

The show would harness Twitter to put players on the trail of celebrities in an interactive, competitive format.

The producers call their proposed series the first to bring the immediacy of Twitter to the TV screen.

"Twitter is transforming the way people communicate, especially celebrities and their fans," said Reveille managing director Howard T. Owens, who expects the new project to "unlock Twitter's potential on TV."

No further details were made available on the show's format or when it might hit the air.

'This Is a Serious Security Blunder By the US Government'

What is it with these politicians and their desire to keep everyone informed of their every move? One of these days it'll get them killed.
A high-ranking member of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee has been criticised after blogging about his 'secret' congressional visit to Iraq on a social networking site.

Peter Hoekstra revealed that he was part of the delegation in numerous updates to his Twitter account.

'Just landed in Baghdad. I believe it may be first time I've had bb [BlackBerry] service in Iraq. 11th trip here,' he wrote.

Hoekstra, 55, continued to post details about the party's itinerary every few hours, despite the fact that none of the delegation were supposed to let anyone know the details of their travels.

His last post read: 'Moved into green zone by helicopter Iraqi flag now over palace.

'Headed to new US embassy. Appears calmer less chaotic than previous here [sic].'

It is not known whether Iraqi insurgents useTwitter - but if any of them do, they would no doubt be interested in the progress of a U.S. House Intelligence Committee, critics pointed out.

"This is a serious security blunder by the US government,' senior technology consultant at security firm Sophos Graham Cluley said.

'The Republican congressman is not only putting himself at risk with his careless Twittering, but also the people tasked with protecting him,' he added.

'Although these sites are evolving into great networking tools, security and common sense is crucial: even more so when you are a high-ranking government official.'
This is a reason why the Secret Service wanted Barack Obama to relinquish his BlackBerry. Maybe this will serve as a lesson.
