After spending most of today listening to CSPAN while they covered the debate in the House of Representatives over the Republicans Cut, Cap and Balance bill I must say I couldn't agree with Rep West more.

I am doing some mindnumbing work this week so I am allowed to work from home, which is giving me the opportunity to catch some of the goings-on from our distinguished congress critters. Today the Congressional Black Caucus spent the morning taking to the floor of the house and bemoaning the various photo ID requirement laws that the states are passing in regards to preventing voter fraud, which of course to them is equivalent of Jim Crow laws. After the first half dozen of them got up all saying the same thing it simply became a carnival sideshow act. I wonder how many of those folks in that stampede for Section 8 housing applications in Dallas last week had photo ID? Didn't seem to disenfranchise any of them.

Anyway, the day in a nutshell was the Republicans pointing out the various things the proposed legislation actually contained while the Democrats were sounding warning bells about granny getting thrown out of burning buildings along with her cat food supper by representatives of big oil who were trying to catch their flight out of town on their corporate jet. Or something like that.

It really gets old when the Dems get on their talking points and just won't budge, even when they can't manage to read them off of the note cards prepared for them. There was even one congress critter from California that I had trouble understanding since her command of the English language was almost nonexistent. I am going to assume she gives all her campaign speeches in Spanish.

Anyway, kudos to Rep. West for laying a smack down on ol' DWS; the only question left is which victim card shield is she going to hide behind.

Black Legislatures File Lawsuit To Disband Majority White Cities

No, that headline is not wrong. Now I don't want you folks in New England or the Midwest getting too excited just yet. This sort of thing can only happen in the south because of the most onerous piece of legislation ever passed, which is used until this day to keep whitey in his place, called the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus filed a lawsuit Monday against the state of Georgia seeking to dissolve the city charters of Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Milton and Chattahoochee Hills. Further, the lawmakers, joined by civil rights leader the Rev. Joseph Lowery, aim to dash any hopes of a Milton County.

That particular piece of legislation has been used to stymie southern state governments from doing things like requiring ID to vote to putting mandates on how redistricting is done. The laws only apply to southern states, which to me should make it subject to some sort of constitutional challenge.

You see these cities' crimes are that they are predominately white, and that is not allowed. It doesn't matter that we have several congressional districts carved out specifically to ensure that there will always be black representatives in Congress; that is alright and, in fact, required by that same Voting Rights act. It is for that reason that people like Cynthia "The Cutest Little Communist in Congress" McKinney and her successor, Hank "Guam is Sinking" Johnson, have been sucking up taxpayer dollars for decades. John Lewis, whose sole entry on his resume is he walked across a bridge with Martin Luther King Jr.; for that feat, he has managed to parlay it into a lifetime of congressional service.

Yes, folks, according to the black legislatures in Georgia, living in a majority white town is soon to be forbidden when they get their way.

What is really at the heart of this matter, though, is like so many other things, and that is money. You see, those towns have money, and since they have been allowed to create their own cities, the county, which is home to Atlanta, is hurting since tax dollars are staying in the city and not coming into the county coffers. In the past, the residents of the south side of Fulton County sucked up most of these funds. With that money now gone the county is having to make cuts, and of course the moochers on the south side are none too happy.

These legislatures also have their eye on the redistricting battle, which will be taking place soon, especially since Georgia gained a seat. They fear that these affluent white folks might be put into a new congressional district, and of course we know all rich white people are Republicans. Well, except for those in California, which for some reason nobody seems to notice.

Folks, I don't care how you choose to carve up this state, you are never going to get more then three districts that are Democrat, even if the current crop of Dem reps come from some really gerrymandered districts. You could take a grid, place it over the map of the state and make 14 districts and it probably wouldn't change a thing.

No, you want to repeal something, repeal that Voting Rights Act.

Another Democrat Congressman Funneling Scholarship Money To Family

Yet another example of a Democrat lawmaker drunk on power and who believes the rules and laws only apply to the little people that they claim to represent.

Rep. Sanford Bishop (D-Ga.) awarded three scholarships from the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation to his stepdaughter and wife’s niece between 2003 and 2005, according to records from the non-profit group.

Bishop is the second Democrat found to have funneled Congressional Black Caucus Foundation scholarship funds to relatives, threatening to turn the program into a larger political problem for the party. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas) recently paid back $31,000 to the foundation for scholarships that she improperly awarded to various relatives and children of a top staffer.

I am under no illusions that revelations such as this will endanger his reelection chances. He is in a solidly Democrat district where skin color trumps everything else, including dead hookers or boys in his bed. The good news is that these scholarships do not appear to be funded with taxpayer money, he has very few real taxpayers in his district anyway, which also explains why they vote Democrat.

I may have jumped the gun on his reelection bid. It seems the Cook Political Report has moved this race from Solid Democrat to Leans Democrat, which for this district is a significant development, still the Republican challenger, Mike Keown, has an uphill battle.

Democrat Controlled Congress Denies Black Farmers Settlement

It seems the Democrats in Congress can't find the $1 billion they have been ordered to pay to black farmers as the result of a class action lawsuit that filed claiming racial bias in the granting of loans.

Black farmers hoping for government settlement money in a racial bias case better not bet the crop this Spring, until Congress finds a way to pay for the $1 billion deal. A meeting Wednesday at the White House may not have provided much encouragement.

Litigation known as "The Pigford Case" established a longstanding pattern of discrimination at the U.S. Agriculture Department against black farmers who had applied for farm loans and support from federal programs.

Under the terms of a process overseen by a federal judge and dating to 1999, qualified farmers could receive $50,000 each to settle claims of racial bias. In addition, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has said those farmers may pursue a claim for actual damages from the bias and potentially receive up to $250,000.

The Democrat-controlled Congress can seem to find all kinds of money for all kinds of sweetheart deals, but when it comes to their core constituency, the African-American community, they just can't to seem to find it.

The simple fact is they don't have to buy their votes. The Dems take it for granted. They flutter into town all the time, to great fanfare, promise unicorns and lollipops to everybody and once they have the assurances that like good little zombies the African-Americans will vote for the person with a (D) behind their name, they blow town and forget about them until the next election cycle.

I have great respect for farmers, and while I am not a fan of subsidies, I think the whole program needs to be scrapped and then if certain ones of them are truly necessary allow them, but this is not a subsidy, rather the result of a case of court ruling and the Dems in Congress have no business ignoring it.

Nancy could probably find the money for this in her flower fund. Maybe if the Congressional Black Caucus could get their heads out from under Nancy's skirt and making scurrilous claims of racism at every turn they could come to the aid of these farmers.

Joe Wilson Derangement Syndrome: Racist Democrats Becoming Hysterical

Actually, I shouldn't say they're becoming hysterical. They're been that way far too long.

But get a load of this drivel.

Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst last week is drawing new recriminations from his colleagues, with a member of the Congressional Black Caucus suggesting that a failure to rebuke the South Carolina Republican is tantamount to supporting the most blatant form of organized racism in American history.

In an obvious reference to the Ku Klux Klan, Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., said Tuesday that people will be putting on "white hoods and white uniforms again and riding through the countryside" if emerging racist attitudes, which he says were subtly supported by Wilson, are not rebuked. He said Wilson must be disciplined as an example.

Do the words "overplaying your hand" mean anything to this tool?

I guess there's no other pressing business for Congress to tend to this week.

I'm so glad to see we've moved on to a post-racial era where absurd charges of racism every five minutes turned into absurd charges of racism every three minutes.

Seems to me this inane obsession with Wilson is a convenient distraction from the criminal enterprise known as ACORN. Speaking of which, stay tuned to Big Government around 4 pm this afternoon as they unveil yet another damaging video tape.

Blackballing the Black Caucus

The Opinion Journal editorial today smacks down the Democrat Party for pandering to the far-left fringe over debates on Fox News Channel.

The Internet vigilantes would like to drum Fox News out of polite society, but it's clear from the Black Caucus episode that this isn't really about Fox. This is about who runs the Democratic Party. Ever since they came close to nominating Howard Dean for President in 2004, left-wing Web activists have tried to punish any Democrat who dares to step out of line. They tried to run Joe Lieberman out of the Party for his views on Iraq, and they want to banish California Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher because she's voted for free trade agreements.

The pitchfork carriers now want to tell elected Democratic officials which journalists they can appear in public with. Messrs. Edwards and Obama are bowing to those orders because they've decided they can only defeat Hillary Clinton by running to her left. Of course if by some miracle one of them wins the nomination, he'll be known as the candidate from MoveOn.org in the general election too. Republicans will have fun with that one.

As I noted here, this cowardly behavior is only detrimental to the party, and such childish behavior does not auger well when you consider the fear and loathing the Democrats have for a television network, while at the same time pandering to our enemies (see Pelosi, Nancy). Fox truly is a fair and balanced network when compared to the other cable outlets, and this pathetic obsession the left has with them borders on psychotic. Organized attempts at smearing and marginalizing news outlets because you don't like their coverage is rather ominous in a free country, and the remaining adults in the Democrat Party ought to think twice about what they are doing.

Edwards Worms Out of Debate

What is John Edwards so afraid of?

Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards on Friday pulled out of a second debate co-hosted by Fox News Channel, saying the cable network has a conservative slant.

The Edwards campaign said it will not attend the Sept. 23 debate hosted by Fox News and the Congressional Black Caucus Institute, but officials added that Edwards will participate in a different debate hosted by the institute and CNN.

"We believe there's just no reason for Democrats to give Fox a platform to advance the right-wing agenda while pretending they're objective," said Jonathan Prince, Edwards' deputy campaign manager.

It's the second time Edwards has decided to skip a debate because of its affiliation with Fox News. Edwards decided in March that he would pass on an Aug. 14 debate in Reno, Nev., co-hosted by Fox News and the Nevada Democratic Party.

Jonathan Prince sure comes off as smug and arrogant as his boss. You know these twits would whine like babies if FNC ignored them and didn't cover their campaign, which is what they should do.
