In 2007, he complained that Democratic control of Congress had not ended the war in Iraq, a fact he attributed to the pernicious influence of “big corporations.” In other messages he commented on the writings of Noam Chomsky, the leftist professor at M.I.T., and praised former President Jimmy Carter’s book supporting Palestinian rights.

You may recall bin Laden sounded ominously like a certain former Vice President.

Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda, blamed the United States and developed countries for not halting climate change and said that the global economy should immediately abandon its reliance on the American dollar, according to an audiotape released Friday by the broadcaster Al Jazeera.

“Talk about climate change is not an ideological luxury but a reality,” Mr. bin Laden was quoted as saying in a report on Al Jazeera’s English-language Web site. “All of the industrialized countries, especially the big ones, bear responsibility for the global warming crisis.”

Former President Jimmy Carter called former U.S. ambassador to China Jon Huntsman an "attractive" candidate for president in 2012.

Although the one-term president said President Obama will be his choice in the next election, he said Huntsman, who formed a federal political action committee on Tuesday, is "very attractive to me personally." But he added that his "intention is to vote for the Democratic candidate."

Jimmy Carter Heads to North Korea

Nine years after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to get the North Koreans to dismantle their nuclear program, Jimmy Carter returns for another stab at it.

Ex-U.S. President Jimmy Carter and three other former leaders arrived in Beijing on Sunday en route to North Korea to discuss the revival of nuclear disarmament talks.

Carter and the group of veteran statesmen known as the Elders are to travel to Pyongyang on Tuesday as part of international efforts to restart the negotiations on ending North Korea's nuclear program.

The group, which includes former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari, former Norwegian Prime Minister Gro Brundtland and former Irish President Mary Robinson, said it also plans to discuss North Korea's chronic food shortages.

International disarmament talks with North Korea have been stalled for the past two years amid growing concerns over its nuclear programs.

"At a time when official dialogue with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea appears to be at a standstill, we aim to see how we may be of assistance in reducing tensions and help the parties address key issues including denuclearization," Carter was quoted as saying in a statement.

The Norks have a fondness for the useful idiot.

Carter, a Democrat from Georgia who was president from 1977 to 1981, is well regarded in North Korea despite its longtime animosity with the U.S.

Second Worst President Evah Weighs In On Egypt Mess

I know this will make all of us breathe a little easier. Former president Jimmy Carter is noted saying to his Sunday school class that the events in Egypt right now are the most troubling since he left office in 1981.

Former President Jimmy Carter says the political unrest and rioting in Egypt is an earth-shaking event and that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak probably will have to leave office.

Carter's remarks were made to the Sunday school class he teaches at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains.

The former president, who brokered a peace agreement between Israel and Egypt in 1978, called the unrest the most profound situation in the Middle East since he left office in 1981.

Hmmm, yeah I guess if you don't count the assassination of then Egyptian president Anwar Sadat, which occurred after Carter left office. Mr Carter of course has been granted unofficial immunity from members of the press for many of the idiotic statements he makes. Carter did broker the historic peace agreement between Israel and Egypt in 1978, which led to the assassination of Sadat and the elevation of Mubarak to president.

Billy's brother also is noted as saying that Mubarak had become too politically corrupt over his time in office. Yeah that is really going to help calm things down if it is picked up by the less savory characters participating in the protests in Egypt.

Psst, how many of ya'll knew that Ayam al-Zawahiri, Al Queda's second in command and the Blind Sheik Omar Rahman, who is currently in prison for the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center were arrested, interrogated and subsequently released in connection with the assassination of Sadat.

Seems we keep coming back to the same cast of characters.

As far as being the most profound event in the Middle East since he left office, I guess so if you don't exclude Desert Storm, Hezbollah's growing influence in the region, and that nasty bit of business with the Iranian hostages who languished under your leadership but when that cowboy Reagan took office magically were released.

I guess in Jimmy's senile mind nothing has happened in the 30 something years since he held the reins of power on the other hand in a sense he is right since the Iranian Revolution, which did occur under his time in power is probably the worst thing to happen and has been the genesis for much of the trouble we are experiencing today.

Except for the Cold War with the Soviet Union and all the countries they controlled and that inconvenient hostage crisis with Iran, I guess he's right. We were living in Shangri-la during his presidency. Stagflation, massive unemployment and gas lines were such a fun time here in America as well.

America is no better off now than it was in the late 1970s and early 1980s, says former President Jimmy Carter. From national politics to relationships with other nations, there is a lot of room for improvement.

"We had almost complete harmony with every nation on Earth," the Nobel Peace Prize winner said of his administration. "We not only preserved peace for our country, we never went to war. We never dropped a bomb. We never fired a missile."

Maybe if we fired some missiles that hostage crisis wouldn't have lasted 444 days.

Carter, who will be at the King's English Bookshop in Salt Lake City Thursday morning, spoke with the Deseret News about how things have changed since his presidency, how things have remained the same and what life was like in the White House, during a round of press interviews for his new book, "White House Diary."

Many of the issues that were pertinent during Carter's administration still face American leaders, he said. Some 30 or 40 of those items, including Middle East peace, relations with China and with Iran, and the search for clean, cheap energy, remain high profile.

While the above issues may be similar, today's American political scene is vastly different. Carter says he had wonderful bipartisan cooperation, with Democrats and Republicans in both the House and the Senate supporting him.

That doesn't exist now.

The political environment has become polarized in individual states and among voters, Carter says, caused primarily "by the massive and unprecedented infusion of millions of dollars into the campaign coffers of candidates, which are used mostly just for negative advertising to destroy the reputation or character of your opponents."

Yes, I wish Democrats would stop trying to destroy the reputation or character of people. Has this dunce ever heard the name Sarah Palin?

'Had We Not Had the Hostage Crisis, I Would Have Won'

Poor delusional Jimmy Carter. He's taking a stab at rewriting history as he claims without the Iran hostage crisis he'd have actually beaten Ronald Reagan. He conveniently forget the economy under his "leadership" was in a complete shambles, inflation was out of control and interest rates were obscenely high. Maybe people under 30 might buy this crap but anyone who remembers his administration knows well it was much, much more that finished him off than the hostage situation.

Sadly, he also tries to play make believe and compare himself with Tea Partiers.

Former President Jimmy Carter said Monday he sees parallels between today's tea party and his own campaign for the White House in 1976. But he doesn't think the movement will be much of a factor beyond this fall's elections.

The Georgia Democrat told The Associated Press he rode a wave of voter discontent to the presidency on the heels of the Vietnam War and the Watergate scandal that felled President Richard Nixon, much like tea party conservatives are now earning support by voicing anger at the nation's economic woes.

"I was a candidate that was in some ways like the tea party candidate," Carter said in an interview. "I was a complete outsider. I capitalized legitimately on the dissatisfaction that was permeating our society."

He said the tea party's momentum will likely wear off and they will be co-opted by the Republican Party.

"I think they're going to be quite a major factor in November," he said. "I think there's already a process of absorbing them into the Republican Party. I think they will be much less of a factor in 2012 and in future years."

The comments came the same day the former president's new book, "White House Diary," was released.

In the book, Carter said he pursued an overly aggressive agenda as president that may have confused voters and alienated lawmakers. But he said the tipping points that cost him the 1980 election were the Iran hostage crisis and the primary challenge by U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy.

"Had we not had the hostage crisis, I would have won," he said in the interview of his defeat to Republican Ronald Reagan, adding: "Had I not had Kennedy as my opponent, who sapped away a portion of the Democratic wing, I would have been re-elected."

Carter said in the book that he is proud of his accomplishments during his presidency, but that pushing controversial decisions such as the end of U.S. control of the Panama Canal and working to normalize relations with Communist China cost him political support.

So except for the hostage crisis, Ted Kennedy, runaway inflation, an economic disaster, a military in decline, the Panama Canal, the ChiComs, confused voters and an overall national malaise he'd have cruised to re-election.

Keep believing that, Jimmy.

Hmmm. Seems the failed former president is quick to call criticism of the current failed president racist.

Yet just last year it was Jimmy Carter himself calling Barack Obama a black boy.

JIM LEHRER: And do you think that -- if it happens that he is elected, or even just being nominated, is -- will send positive ripple effects throughout the country on the race issue?

And I think it already has sent a wave of approbation and admiration in many countries around the world, just knowing that this black boy who grew up with just a loving mother and grandparents -- and that was about all he had to start with -- does now have a chance to become the nominee of the Democratic Party for president.

And Rose and I have visited a few more than 125 nations since I left the White House. And we've seen a disillusionment about our country in the last eight years, with a lot of things happening, like torturing of prisoners and that sort of thing. I won't go into detail about that.

But I don't think there's any doubt that there's a spirit and a bright, new hope for America within this country and around the world. And if Obama is elected, which I think he is going to be, then I think that will be the transforming race for the end of racism, and prejudice, and hatred between races in this country.

JIM LEHRER: That's quite a statement.

JIMMY CARTER: I believe it's true.

I guess Carter no longer believes it's true.

OK, taken in context, Carter calling Obama a black boy in that instance was relatively innocuous.

So why do critics of ObamaCare not get the same benefit of the doubt now that we have a mere policy difference with the president? Carter can call Obama a black boy and gets a pass, yet those who disagree with Obama now are racist according to Carter.

Surprise! Jimmy Carter on bin Laden's Reading List

This reminds me of when the feds raided the Unabomber's hovel in Montana they found a highlighted version of Al Gore's Earth in the Balance, a very inconvenient truth quickly hushed up by the liberal media. Oh, if we only had blogs back then, the fun we could have had.

Anyway, it should come as no shock that the world's No. 1 terrorist finds solace and comfort in the incoherent ramblings of the disgraced failed former president Jimmy Carter, among other rank anti-semitic creeps like Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer.

Published in 2007, the book argues that uncritical American support for Israel, shaped by powerful lobbying organizations like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, does grave harm to both American and Israeli interests. The voice on the tape gives the title of the book as “The Israeli Lobby in the United States,” according to the SITE translation.

The book develops themes first explored by the authors in an essay published in 2006 by the London Review of Books, which generated a strong reaction from some Jewish groups. Tony Judt defended the authors against charges of anti-Semitism on the Op-Ed page of The New York Times the following month. Later that year, The London Review hosted a panel discussion in New York on the questions raised by the essay. 2. “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid,” in which former President Jimmy Carter gives his views about how best to end the Arab-Israeli conflict, and criticizes Israeli treatment of Palestinians in the territories. While the voice on the tape does not mention this book by name, it calls on Americans to “read what your former president, Carter, wrote regarding Israeli racism against our people in Palestine,” in a characterization of the book that goes beyond Mr. Carter’s own language.

Maybe Carter can update the jacket of the book noting such acclaim. I'm astonished this was even noted by the Times, although the rest of the antique media seems to have ignored this. Just imagine if bin Laden recommended a book by a conservative author.

Remember this little incident from about a year ago.

Fourteen members of a leadership group under former President Carter's think tank resigned Thursday over concerns that Carter's book on the Middle East does not represent "the Jimmy Carter we came to respect and support."

The members of the 200-member Board of Councilors, a leadership advisory group founded in 1987, join a longtime Carter aide, Jewish groups and lawmakers who have publicly criticized the former president's best-selling book "Palestine: Peace, Not Apartheid" for inaccuracies and distorting history.

Carter has never been a friend of Israel and there is certainly a certain level of anti-semitism that taints his perspective.

Of course, traveling to the Middle East to negotiate with Hamas doesn't help either.

The resolution, sponsored by Reps. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., and Shelley Berkley, D-Nev., was intended as a warning shot at Carter and follows letters from more than 50 congressmen urging the former president to abandon his visit to the Hamas head, who lives in exile in Syria.

In the face of such criticism, Carter traveled to Cairo to meet with Mahmoud Zahar, who controls Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip. Zahar wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post Thursday decrying the "hideous straitjacket of apartheid" in Gaza and compared Israel to Nazi Germany.

I would also like to thank the goober farmer for once again furthering the stereotype of southerners as nothing but toothless, tobacco-spitting bigots. Everyone, it seems, but himself. Having a native of Georgia going around reassuring the slobbering masses who are pushing the theme that anyone who is opposed to the socialism of America are racists, and using the hook of how he is one of us so you can believe him, is despicable.

So tell me, Jimmy, how did you escape the bigotry of growing up in the south? Are you the only one who managed to escape the taint of racism? Why are charges of racism against those from the south any more credible then saying those same things about somebody from New England or the midwest?

My advice to Mr. Carter: Shut up. You have a golden opportunity to shed the title of Worst President Ever, unless that's something you are proud of.

In the last couple of days we have had a few of the elected elite class from Georgia running around throwing the racism tag around, and call me a conspiracy nut or whatever, but it is almost as if a memo went out asking for southern Democrats to push the racism theme. I eagerly await the soundbite from Cynthia McKinney. My representative, David Scott, used his racism card earlier when he got challenged at his health care town hall, which is why I guess it fell to Hank Johnson to play it this time.

That was on Thursday. The day before, February 11, the guest of honor on the program Democracy Now was none other that the esteemed former President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, spewing his usual pro-Palestinian bilge.

Hugs for Thugs: Carter Meets With Hamas Leader in Syria

Failed president Jimmy Carter hits the daily double: He meets with the leader of a terrorist organization in a terrorist state. I guess if you asked Carter if there's a terrorist leader he wouldn't meet with, I suspect he might say it's George Bush.

Former President Jimmy Carter met with the leader of Hamas in Damascus on Sunday, the same day the Palestinian terrorist group marked its 21st anniversary and signaled its intention to end an erratically-upheld ceasefire.

It was Carter’s second meeting in the Syrian capital with Khaled Meshaal, whose group has been designated a foreign terrorist organization by the United States. Carter's previous visit to Damascus, last April, drew criticism from the State Department and Israel.

Carter said then, and since, that the search for peace requires dialogue with all sides.

Carter also held talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad, who praised his peace-making efforts, according to the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

Of couse the chinless ophthalmologist would praise Carter. Without him, these terror states and organizations wouldn't be nearly as strong as they are.

Amazingly, one group of terrorists refuse to meet with the feckless Carter.

The former president’s visit to Damascus followed one to Lebanon, where he met with a number of political leaders and parties but was rebuffed by the Shi’ite terrorist group, Hezbollah.

Officials from the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah have refused to meet with former U.S. president Jimmy Carter, who is in Lebanon, Carter's spokesman Rick Jafculca said Wednesday.

Carter requested the meeting with the Iran-backed movement - which is recognized as a terrorist group by the United States - as part of a two-day visit to Lebanon to assess whether his Atlanta-based Carter Center will monitor parliamentary elections, which are scheduled to take place by May 2009.

Jafculca confirmed a meeting had been requested with Hezbollah, but added that the group "were not able to meet" Carter.

They're probably holding out for some face time with Obama, who plans to reach out to Muslims.

On This Day In 1980, Carter Led Reagan By Eight Points

Cheer up, all you poll watchers.

This isn't over yet.

There have been only 2 instances in the past 14 elections, from 1952 to 2004, when the presidential candidate ahead in Gallup polling a week or so before the election did not win the national popular vote: in 2000 (George W. Bush) and 1980 (Jimmy Carter). And in only one of these, in 1980, did the candidate who was behind (Ronald Reagan) pull ahead in both the popular vote and the Electoral College and thus win the election.

Scroll down at the link for results dating back to 1952. While Reagan trailed Carter by eight points among registered voters in the Gallup survey on October 26, 1980, he won going away by 10 points.

Is the same likely to occur this year? Probably not, but keep in mind things are very volatile right now and plenty of embarrassing revelations are making people take notice of what's going on. Granted, while the media was also biased in 1980, it wasn't nearly as bad as the pro-Obama media has been this year. Plus, as inept as Carter was, he didn't have nearly as much baggage as Obama does.

McCain has plenty of work to do, as he trails in a number of battleground states, but despite the efforts of the media to declare the race over, there are still eight days to go.

Is John McCain the next Ronald Reagan? Far from it. But Barack Obama shapes up as being far more to the left than Jimmy Carter, truly a frightening scenario.

For what it's worth, the IBD/TIPP poll has Obama up 46.5-43.3% with 10.1% still undecided. The RCP average has Obama up 7.3 average, but that's skewed by dubious NY Times and Newsweek polls. Today's Rasmussen poll has Obama up by five. Not insurmountable, but very little time to work with.

Maybe if Obama's friends at the Los Angeles Times release that potentially explosive video they're sitting on, things could shift.

Al Qaeda 'Mata Hari' Wanted to Kill Jimmy Carter, Bush 41

Maybe a little light bulb will go off in Jimmy Carter's head. Yes, these monsters want to kill us all, even groveling appeasers like you.

Before she turned her attention to blowing up New York landmarks, the alleged al Qaeda "Mata Hari" had wild dreams of murdering former Presidents Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush, federal law-enforcement sources said yesterday.

MIT-educated neuroscientist Aafia Siddiqui's outlandish terror schemes included plans to get Carter by poisoning the 39th president's water supply, the sources told ABC News.

It wasn't clear how she supposedly schemed to kill Bush.

Naturally, some knee-jerk lawyer, who she'd probably kill given the chance, rushes to her aid and starts reciting the usual talking points.

Lawyers for the scientist now accused of being a terrorist insist federal charges are completely bogus and said yesterday their client has been mistreated by US interrogators.

"This woman has been tortured and she needs help," said defense lawyer Elizabeth Fink.

Siddiqui's lawyers declined to elaborate on the nature of her alleged suffering, but insisted the woman - who also attended Brandeis University - has been roughed up at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan for several years.

"Everything she has said is consistent with her being in Bagram for five years or more. Everything she says is consistent with being tortured in Bagram," said Elaine Whitfield Sharp, a defense lawyer hired by Siddiqui's family.

But the feds have said they picked up Siddiqui, 36, only on July 17, when she was acting suspiciously near the headquarters of the Afghanistan National Police in Ghazni province.

They found maps and plans on Siddiqui targeting Times Square, the Statue of Liberty and the New York subway system.

The FBI has been on Siddiqui's trail since shortly after Sept. 11, 2001, when the brainy mom of three fell off the map.

Authorities had been chasing her through information gleaned from interviews with admitted 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed. She was once married to the convicted terrorist's nephew.

Brzezinski: McCain Would Start World War IV

Always nice to see one of Jimmy Carter's hacks saying something stupid for international consumption. As an added bonus, he's being quoted by the Iranians.

Former US President Jimmy Carter's national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski criticized US officials in Senator McCain's camp for pushing the presumptive Republican nominee toward a radical foreign policy on issues such as Iran.

Brzezinski described McCain's presidency as an 'appalling concept' as it would lead to the World War IV, arguing that from the viewpoint of figures surrounding the Arizona senator the Cold War counted as World War III.

"Well, if McCain is president and if his Secretary of State is Joe Lieberman and his Secretary of Defense is [Rudolph] Giuliani, we will be moving towards the World War IV that they have been both favoring and predicting," Brzezinski cautioned.

What an idiot.

Naturally, he's a top Obama foreign policy adviser.

Senator Obama is standing by one of his top foreign policy advisers, Zbigniew Brzezinski, despite concerns that aligning with the former aide to President Carter will undermine Mr. Obama's support with the pro-Israel community.

Mr. Brzezinski, who served as national security adviser in the Carter administration, introduced Mr. Obama before a major policy speech on Iraq yesterday in Iowa, where the Illinois senator praised his work on the Camp David Accords and called him "one of our most outstanding thinkers."

Last year he was hailed as Obama's new brain.

Carter Unhinged: Gaza a 'Human Rights Crime'

The crime should be newspapers giving America's worst ever President space to once again publicly immolate in such embarrassing fashion.

If you ever had any doubt Carter hates Israel, and his own country for that matter, just absorb this.

The world is witnessing a terrible human rights crime in Gaza, where a million and a half human beings are being imprisoned with almost no access to the outside world. An entire population is being brutally punished.

This gross mistreatment of the Palestinians in Gaza was escalated dramatically by Israel, with United States backing, after political candidates representing Hamas won a majority of seats in the Palestinian Authority parliament in 2006. The election was unanimously judged to be honest and fair by all international observers.

It gets worse. A lot worse.

Nigerian Terrorists Roll Obama, Carter Up Next

We noted Sunday how Nigerian terrorists were holding Barack Obama in such high esteem and were curious why Obama was already engaging in foreign policy.

Well, according to the Politico, Obama hadn't intervened. Yet. But he has now.

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta said it was mulling "a temporary ceasefire appeal by Senator Barack Obama. Obama is someone we respect and hold in high esteem."

But an Obama aide said this morning that Obama had not made such a call before today.

Anyway, the Nigerians apparently know how to roll gullible politicians. Now they've gone and roped in--you guessed it--Jimmy Carter.

The main militant group in Nigeria's oil-rich southern region said Tuesday it is willing to cease hostilities if the federal government allows conflict mediation by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter.

The militants of The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta said Carter had accepted their invitation to help negotiate and end to the long-running crisis that has contributed to the sharp rise in oil prices.

Militants say they received Carter's acceptance from John Stremlau, an official of Carter's organization. But Stremlau told The Associated Press only that the ex-U.S. president was generally ready to be "helpful in the quest for peace."

We know well how successful Carter is at that game.
