54 Democrat Congress Critters Who Stand in Support of the Muslim Brotherhood

The reaction in the Islamic world to the death of Usama bin Laden for the most part is exactly what one should expect from folks who get their panties in a wad over cartoons and book burnings. What should be eye opening is that we have members of our congress who stand in support of them along with members of our Homeland Security.

The Muslim Brotherhood has come out to express outrage at the killing of a mass murderer.

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, a conservative organization with links around the Islamic world, has condemned the killing of Al Qaeda leader Usama bin Laden by U.S. forces as an "assassination."

Or at least they have in the past.

Last month, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and her senior staff privately met in Washington, D.C., with a select group of Muslim, Arab, and Sikh organizations. Among the mix were three organizations directly associated with an outlawed terrorist entity — the Muslim Brotherhood.

Secretary Napolitano spent an hour and a half briefing them on Department of Homeland Security (DHS) counter-radicalization and anti-terrorist programs. The intensive briefings spanned two days (January 27 and 28) and were called by the DHS.

The Muslim Brotherhood has even been so bold as to demand that congress schedule a session to allow them to make their case that they are just warm fuzzy teddy bears.

Oh the 54 congress critters in the title? They are the ones who signed a letter in support of the Free Gaza organization which is a Hamas operated propaganda effort which is in turn supported by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Geez, even the buffoons in the White House felt compelled to intervene as Director of National Intelligence deadpanned that the Muslim Brotherhood is "largely secular".

Yep. And, did you further know that the Village People are "largely straight"? True story!

Let's look at the bright side: At least we know Clapper is aware that something is going on in Egypt - and he didn't even need Diane Sawyer to fill him in this time.

'Mainstream' Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan Calls for Suicide Attacks Against Israel

Reuters isn't even trying to hide the agitprop anymore.

Get a whiff of this non-bylined item.

Crying for revenge with suicide attacks, thousands of Jordanians marched in the capital of the pro-U.S. kingdom on Sunday to protest against Israel's Gaza offensive that had killed more than 100 Palestinians.

About 10,000 protesters, mainly from Jordan's mainstream Muslim Brotherhood and smaller opposition groups, took to the streets in one of the country's most vocal and largest anti-Israeli demonstrations in recent years.

"O Hamas, O Hamas, bring the suicide bombers ... Victory to Hamas and defeat to the Jews and Americans," chanted the crowds, who called on the Islamist militant group to resume suicide attacks and intensify rocket strikes against Israel.

Yup, they really sound pro-U.S. there.

And since when is the Muslim Brotherhood considered mainstream? Maybe in the caves where Osama bin Laden is hanging out, but not in the real world.

Speaking of this mainstream group, I see the lowlife grandson of the founder of the group has been invited to speak at a university in Australia.

THE Swiss Islamic activist Tariq Ramadan has been invited by Griffith University to be the keynote speaker at its conference opening in Brisbane today.

The fact that Australia is allowing Ramadan to enter the country at all will raise eyebrows in security circles elsewhere. Ramadan is the grandson of Hassan al-Banna, founder of the Muslim Brotherhood: the spiritual backers of al-Qa'ida and Hamas and whose goal is to Islamise the world.

While it is, of course, unfair to tar someone with his grandfather's views, there is ample reason to think that in the case of Tariq Ramadan the apple has not fallen far from the tree.

Ramadan has been banned from entering the US because of his alleged association with extremists. The Geneva Islamic Centre, with which he is closely associated, has been linked to terrorists of the Algerian FIS (Islamic Salvation Front) and the GIA (Armed Islamic Group). A Spanish police report claimed that Ahmed Brahim, an al-Qa'ida leader jailed in Spain, was "in frequent contact" with Ramadan, a claim he has denied.

So Reuters considers a groups that are"the spiritual backers of al-Qa'ida and Hamas" to be mainstream?

Bush and His "Brothers"

It appears President Bush has completely lost his mind.

WASHINGTON — The Bush administration is quietly weighing the prospect of reaching out to the party that founded modern political Islam, the Muslim Brotherhood.

Still in its early stages and below the radar, the current American deliberations and diplomacy with the organization, known in Arabic as Ikhwan, take on new significance in light of Hamas's successful coup in Gaza last week. The Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood is widely reported to have helped create Hamas in 1982.

Today the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research will host a meeting with other representatives of the intelligence community to discuss opening more formal channels to the brothers. Earlier this year, the National Intelligence Council received a paper it had commissioned on the history of the Muslim Brotherhood by a scholar at the Nixon Center, Robert Leiken, who is invited to the State Department meeting today to present the case for engagement. On April 7, congressional leaders such as Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the Democratic whip, attended a reception where some representatives of the brothers were present. The reception was hosted at the residence in Cairo of the American ambassador to Egypt, Francis Ricciardone, a decision that indicates a change in policy.

How about we just sign a formal surrender to the Islamofascists?

Islamic Groups Named in Hamas Case

With any luck, this will be a death blow to radical frontgroups such as CAIR.

Of course, most of the media will simply ignore this.

Federal prosecutors have named three prominent Islamic organizations in America as participants in an alleged criminal conspiracy to support a Palestinian Arab terrorist group, Hamas.

Prosecutors applied the label of "unindicted co-conspirator" to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the Islamic Society of North America, and the North American Islamic Trust in connection with a trial planned in Texas next month for five officials of a defunct charity, the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development.

While the foundation was charged in the case, which was filed in 2004, none of the other groups was. However, the co-conspirator designation could be a blow to the credibility of the national Islamic organizations, which often work hand-in-hand with government officials engaged in outreach to the Muslim community.

A court filing by the government last week listed the three prominent groups among about 300 individuals or entities named as co-conspirators. The document gave scant details, but prosecutors described CAIR as a present or past member of "the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood's Palestine Committee and/or its organizations." The government listed the Islamic Society of North America and the North American Islamic Trust as "entities who are and/or were members of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood."

It's well past time these groups were outlawed.

Jordanians Arrest Islamist Activists

Don't worry, though. They're mainstream Islamists.

AMMAN, May 22 (Reuters) - Jordanian security forces have arrested three members of the country's mainstream Islamist party for engaging in acts threatening national security, a senior official said on Tuesday.

The activists from the Islamic Action Front (IAF), which is the country's strongest opposition group, were from the impoverished city of Zarqa, east of the capital, government spokesman Nasser Joudeh told reporters.

"The Islamists were engaged in activities that targeted the security of Jordan and investigations are ongoing," he said.

Zaki Bani Rusheid, head of the IAF, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, said the activists were promoting the party's candidates ahead of next July's municipal elections, in which the Islamists were fielding candidates.

What Were Pelosi and Hoyer Doing?

My guess is that Nancy and Steny gave this message to the terror bosses:

"Hang on. Don't do another 9/11 in the United States before we get into the White House in January, 2009. Then we'll get out of Iraq, we will let Tehran have its nukes and missiles, and we'll sell out our allies so fast it will make Saigon look like a day on the beach. The American people have practically forgotten all about 9/11. Just don't attack the US to remind them, so we can be elected in 2008. We own the US media. Play along with us, and we'll get out of the Middle East."

I don't know if it's true. Call me suspicious or even paranoid. But would you be surprised? Isn't it at least a possibility worth considering?

The Growing Leftist-Islamist Convergence

A rather disturbing look in the New York Sun today on the increasing unity between the left and Islamists (via Captain's Quarters).

Over the past year, multiple international conferences have featured leaders of the anti-global left and Islamist groups working together. Go to any anti-war or anti-globalization demonstration in the West and chances are you will see the flags of Hezbollah and Hamas waved by people wearing Che Guevara T-shirts. And at some of these meetings, members of such radical Islamist groups as the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, and Hezbollah have enjoyed starring roles.

The roster of Islamist-left alliances quietly grows every day: Massachusetts Institute of Technology linguistics professor Noam Chomsky praises Hamas and denounces America on Hezbollah's Al-Manar television. London Mayor Ken Livingstone invites a leading Islamist, Sheikh Yosef Al-Qaradawi, who is known for supporting suicide attacks, to visit his city. Iranian President Ahmadinejad calls for a world without America even as he plays host to a Tehran peace conference attended by American Mennonites, Quakers, Episcopalians, Methodists, and leaders of the National Council of Churches.

The left wonders why their patriotism, or lack theroef, is always in question.

Egypt Arrests 80 Radicals

Another one of those good news, bad news deals. The good news is they know who these guys are. The bad news is they'll probably be out in no time.

Egyptian security forces detained 80 members of the banned Muslim Brotherhood on Thursday in sweeps at dawn, intensifying a clampdown against the government's most powerful political rival.

The government focused its arrests in Cairo and the Nile Delta, where the Islamist movement has a strong popular base, and the group said those detained included the office managers of three Brotherhood members of parliament.

Security sources said the men were arrested on charges of belonging to an outlawed group and possessing anti-government literature. The Brotherhood, which operates openly despite being officially banned, is Egypt's most powerful opposition group.

The Brotherhood condemned the sweeps as an attempt to reduce its clout ahead of elections for the upper house of parliament in April, in which it is widely expected to take part. The group won a fifth of the seats in the lower house in 2005.

I wonder what these guys have to worry about? They have useful idiots from this country agitating on their behalf.

The new arrests came as U.S.-based Human Rights Watch called on Egypt to free hundreds of Brotherhood members it said were detained "solely for exercising their rights to freedom of expression and association."

In an escalation against the Brotherhood, Egypt referred 40 members of the group including third-in-command Khairat el-Shatir a week ago for trial in military courts, where verdicts are often issued quickly and cannot be appealed.

Those men, who face terrorism and money-laundering charges, will be the first Brotherhood members to face military trials since 2001. The Islamist group, which says it rejects violence, has said it was preparing for a tough legal fight.

"By trying to crush Egypt's largest opposition movement, the government has shown once again that it cannot tolerate any criticism," Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East director at Human Rights Watch, said in a statement.
