Thursday, little Kommandante Markos, in another classic example of self-gratification, posted the results of an absolutely meaningless poll.

As noted in our earlier post, the Kooky Kult Kommandante wet his panties because Sen. Lieberman wouldn't waste his time commenting about the poll being furiously waved by the Grand Ayatollah of Koslamistan.

So, after twice singing Koslam über Alles and donning our brand new Comrade Che beret, we gleefully went to Koslamistan and cherry-picked some comments made about the little kommandante soothing his po' widdle wuffled feathers and Joe Lieberman's deliberate dissing of the New Face of the Democrat Party.


And the requisite shot because Lieberman is a Jooooooo.

Modern political coverage is all about storylines, and once created, the media merely reinforces those storylines. And lo and behold, the vast majority of those storylines just so happen to be set by Republicans thanks to their massive media machine.

ROTFLMAO!!!

That's why Kerry -- a war hero -- can suddenly be "anti-troop" when that toady Boehner (who washed out of the navy in eight weeks because of a "bad back") can't possibly be brushing aside the deaths of 4,000 and the injuries of 30,000!

At least the little kommandante is consistent in the manner in which he shows his support of those who serve.

Czech president new face of US media campaign

Czech president Vaclav Klaus has become the face of a media campaign questioning the impact of global warming. The campaign is run by the free-market think-tank Heartland Institute. It features pictures of Vaclav Klaus and former US vice-president Al Gore under the headline "Global Warming Is No Crisis". It also draws attention to Mr Klaus' speech that is to take place in two week's time at the UN conference on global warming. I spoke to Tom Swiss of the Heartland Institute and started by asking about the campaign's aim.

"The ad campaign is focused around the central idea that global warming is not a crisis. We acknowledge that global warming exists and it exists at about one degree per century. Al Gores movie An Inconvenient Truth created a lot of fear and hysteria and we are challenging Al Gore to a debate on a science because his science is very weak."

Why did you choose the Czech president to feature in your campaign?

"President Klaus has been a big defender of freedom. He understands the idea that the big government oppression destroys communities. When government gets in to control something, the entrepreneurial spirit is just killed. President Klaus has understood for a long time that this debate on global warming is bringing the big government back in. We feel that he is a great spokesperson and a real hero. I think the Czech Republic should be really proud to have him as a president."

How many Americans do you think know who Vaclav Klaus is?

"Well the newspaper campaign runs in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and the Washington Times and they are all for the business leaders of America. So these are the people that are the most highly educated; the upper level executives. I think a significant percentage of them know who Vaclav Klaus is."

Do you think the campaign can affect Americans' view of the Czech Republic?

I hope so. President Klaus is demonstrating some significant leadership on this issue. And in politics, when someone does that, they open themselves up to an amazing amount criticism. I think the American spirit is entrepreneurial and I think they respect a leader that actually stands up for a position and speaks clearly on it. So I think the United States will see that president Klaus is a leader in the position and have a lot of respect for the Czech Republic because of that."

The Czech environmental group Hnuti Duha said earlier this week that the Heartland Institute is sponsored by Exxon Mobile. Is that right?

"No, I don't know where they got that. The ad campaign is supported by business leaders. We have 1,500 individuals that support us. There is no energy producer money spent. In fact all of our donations that come from energy producers are less than a four percent. I would like to challenge them and ask them where they came up with that information because that's not accurate."

We're wondering if Heartland received the same discount from the NY Times that was provided to the Stalinistas?

If Dems won't stand for what they believe in, on an issue in which they have 60 percent of the American people, what will they stand for?

A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken Friday and Saturday finds that a White House push to spotlight progress in Iraq, including President Bush's surprise stop in Anbar province last week, hasn't fundamentally changed attitudes toward the war.

While a third of those surveyed say the "surge" of U.S. troops this year has made them more confident the United States will accomplish its goals, a majority calls the invasion a mistake and predicts the war will be lost.

A record 60% say the United States should set a timetable to withdraw forces "and stick to that timetable regardless of what is going on in Iraq."

Hear that Congress? That's not "ask Bush to perhaps make plans if he feels like it".

That's not "maybe we'll set a start deadline, but not worry about an end one."

That's not "give Bush his $200 billion and lots more war because if we don't, Republicans and David Broder might criticize us!"

That's not, "let's compromise on the issue and find 'common ground' were none exists."

That's not, "pass a bill, any bill, so long as it gets some Republican support."

That's not, "what can we do, the president will just veto it!"

That's not, "but the Washington Post might say something mean about us!"

That's not, "let's give them another Friedman Unit and another 600 dead G.I.s and another $100 billion down the tube" to see if maybe this time everyone gets their ponies.

That's not, "but 'supporting the troops' means keeping them in the Iraq meat grinder, rather than home, safe and sound with their families!"

MORE people, not less, think we need to get the f' out of Iraq even after the PR offensive they've waged to change public perception. Yet Democrats are acting defeated before Petreaus even gives his report. (And btw, where the heck is Obama? Still AWOL?)

Maybe the Chicago-born Salvadoran Oligarch should stick to voicing his support for gays in the military.

In February 2003, a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously agreed with an assertion by FOX News that there is no rule against distorting or falsifying the news in the United States.

Well, there they go again. There is a rule, it's settled law; and unless the US Supreme Court reverses itself, it's the Law of the Land.

How could a Kosling, the intellectual stalwarts of the Parallel Universe, overlook such an important - but inconvenient - truth?

A reasonable presumption would be that in 1964, a rather very progressive-dominated Supreme Court said that it was cool to distort the truth when it ruled in favor of The New York Times in the landmark decision, Times v. Sullivan 376 U.S. 254 (1964), from which existing defamation laws in tort have evolved.

Respondent, an elected official in Montgomery, Alabama, brought suit in a state court alleging that he had been libeled by an advertisement in corporate petitioner's newspaper, the text of which appeared over the names of the four individual petitioners and many others. The advertisement included statements, some of which were false, about police action allegedly directed against students who participated in a civil rights demonstration and against a leader of the civil rights movement; respondent claimed the statements referred to him because his duties included supervision of the police department. The trial judge instructed the jury that such statements were "libelous per se," legal injury being implied without proof of actual damages, and that for the purpose of compensatory damages malice was presumed, so that such damages could be awarded against petitioners if the statements were found to have been published by them and to have related to respondent. As to punitive damages, the judge instructed that mere negligence was not evidence of actual malice and would not justify an award of punitive damages; he refused to instruct that actual intent to harm or recklessness had to be found before punitive damages could be awarded, or that a verdict for respondent should differentiate between compensatory and punitive damages. Human Debris Riot in Rome

Wherever George W. Bush goes, the infantile left will follow.

ROME, June 9 (Reuters) - Police in riot gear charged and fired tear gas at demonstrators protesting against U.S. President George W. Bush's visit to Rome on Saturday.

Dozens of demonstrators threw bottles at police and overturned tables in the centre of the Italian capital.

The protesters, some wearing motorcycle helmets and bandanas to cover their faces, also shattered a window of a bank.

At least two policeman were injured by glass and at least one marcher was reported injured in a clash with police.

Tear gas wafted into Rome's famous Piazza Navona, which had been the scene of a demonstration that was for the most part peaceful.

Organisers of the march, some of them using loudspeakers mounted on trucks, urged the violent demonstrators to stop and later invited peaceful marchers to leave the area.

Police were seen taking away some of the protestors and local media reports said some were arrested for covering their faces in demonstrations, which is illegal in Italy.
