Scenes From Zuccotti Park: 'She Believes Everything Should Be Free'

The New York Post caught up with that dopey mother of the year we noted Friday. She's even stranger than first reported.
The Florida mom who ditched her banker husband and four kids to live in Zuccotti Park squalor is a hippie homemaker whose neighbors are horrified by her latest antics -- but are hardly surprised that she flew the coop.

Stacey Hessler, 38 -- a self-described “vegan freak” who’s into dreadlocks, roller derby and “unschooling” her kids -- acts like a self-obsessed college sophomore who never grew up, said a neighbor in her hometown of DeLand, Fla.

“I’m not disgusted she took off [to protest] -- because I’m not surprised,” seethed one next-door neighbor who asked that her name not be published.

“‘The Man’ she went up there to fight against is the bank where her husband works.

“She believes everything should be free,” the neighbor added.

The middle-aged flower child’s trip to New York to sleep under the stars with the Occupy Wall Street protesters was chronicled in The Post yesterday.

One angry neighbor said yesterday it was hardly surprising that Hessler would leave her kids behind and go radical.

“She’s very bizarre,” the neighbor insisted.

On her Facebook page, Hessler wrote about being a surrogate mom. She also boasted of a panoply of California-style beliefs.

She called herself a “radical unschooling mom of four, midwives assistant, roller-derby queen, rock-star musician, activist, dreadlock princess, African-bee keeper, organic vegan freak and a surrogate for the second time.”

Hessler has gotten even more hippie since she arrived in New York. In Zuccotti Park, she’s been sharing a tarp with a Brooklyn waiter and plans to stay “indefinitely.”

The waiter, Rami Shamir, vehemently declined to comment at his job last night.

While she doesn’t get much love from her neighbor, pals of Hessler clearly support her Occupy Wall Street outing.

One friend in New York called Hessler and her family “one of the most amazing and beautiful and loving families that I’ve ever encountered.”

The friend also explained how Hessler came to be part of the protest.

“She had been following this movement on her own through Facebook and YouTube and whatever, and she decided she wanted to come up to New York. And her family said, ‘Go, mom, go. This is what you want to do,’ ” said Lauren Napoli, 28, a waitress and home health aide.

“This is what she believes in, and she feels she needs to be here,” Napoli said. “She’s not being irresponsible.”

Napoli said Hessler and her tarp mate are not “bunking up in a little tent.”

“It’s not like that -- everyone who’s there, we’re trying to support each other, and when it rains you need to be under a structure.”

“I’ve been right next to her when she’s been on the phone with her kids,” she added. “It was [her youngest daughter’s] birthday recently and she called and said ‘happy birthday.’ ”
Isn't that special. She called her daughter on her birthday. I wonder if she thinks the call was free? No word whether her flight back to Florida will also be free, or the divorce attorney.

Meanwhile, it's reported that a whopping 37% of the public supports these lunatics. That's odd considering they represent 99%, right? Maybe they should start chanting "We are the 37%" for historical accuracy.

Back in Manhattan, some idiot has scaled a 40-foot-high steel art exhibit and vows to not come down until Mayor Bloomberg resigns. Have a nice time up there, pal.

'Without Money We'd All Be Rich'

I've figured out how these occupiers are going to bring us to our knees. We'll be clubbed into submission by clever signage. Looks like the NYPD may have to break out the pepper spray and some nets.
This feels like a mighty, professional union rally. There are thousands upon thousands of people here in Foley Park - and they continue to stream in.

The crowd is more angry and aggressive than any of the other Occupy Wall Street rallies I have been to since September 17th.

This crowd feels for the first time in more than two weeks, like it is united in it's demands: the rich need to pay so "the 99%" can get paid. This crowd wants jobs. They are not asking. They are demanding.

The crowd is now shouting "Shut the country down!" as they prepare to march to Wall Street. Helicopters hover above.
Shut the country down? Do these people have the slightest clue how stupid they sound? Is anyone else getting a mixed message here? They want to shut the country down, but are demanding jobs.

Blockbuster: Christie Had Dinner With Roger Ailes

This was already information known to the public, but apparently some gadflies decided they need attention.

Just pathetic.
In apparent reaction to a lawsuit filed by Gawker and the American Civil Liberties Union, the office of the New Jersey governor, Chris Christie, on Monday released a record of a meeting last year between Mr. Christie and Roger Ailes, the chairman of Fox News Channel.

John Cook, a reporter for Gawker, had filed the suit to inquire into Mr. Ailes’s relationship with Mr. Christie as part of a series of stories about the political engagement of Mr. Ailes and his cable news channel. He asserted in an interview that Mr. Ailes, a former Republican strategist, continued to act in that capacity informally and behind the scenes.

The suit came about after Mr. Christie’s office resisted Mr. Cook’s request for public records of any meetings, phone calls or correspondence between the governor and Mr. Ailes. The governor’s office cited “executive privilege,” which Mr. Cook found to be unusual given that Mr. Ailes is the head of a news channel.

The suit was filed Monday morning. Within hours, Mr. Christie’s office sent Mr. Cook a letter that reaffirmed the “executive privilege” defense, but shared the schedule record of one dinner Mr. Christie and Mr. Ailes had on Sept. 11, 2010.

That dinner had previously been reported by New York magazine, which also reported that Mr. Ailes had, at a later date, encouraged Mr. Christie to run for president.
So what was the meaning of this pointless exercise other than a pathetic obsession with Fox News?

'GDP Shrank in the First Quarter and the Bourgeoisie are Having a Party'

The insipid Venezuelan clown Hugo Chavez is living in deep, deep denial. Faced with an economy crumbling under the weight of his failed socialist polices, the nutcase has blamed his problems on ... capitalism.

I guess it's too late for him to get a clue.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said on Wednesday that a recession in his Latin American country marked the death of capitalism and had nothing to do with his government's socialist revolution.

The OPEC member's economy is bucking the global recovery trend, with the central bank posting a 5.8 percent contraction for the first quarter of 2010 on Tuesday.

The increasingly grim macroeconomic environment -- which economists call "stagflation" because the slump has not cooled runaway inflation -- is now a major challenge for Chavez with a legislative election looming in September.

"GDP shrank in the first quarter and the bourgeoisie are having a party," Chavez said, referring to political opponents who blame his policies for the recession.

"They don't realise that the party they are attending is the wake of capitalism ... because the economy that is shrinking is the capitalist economy," he said in a televised speech.
Huh? If he were any more clueless he'd qualify an an Obama economic advisor.
"We are going to bury Venezuelan capitalism," Chavez said, adding that his administration would "take from the bourgeoisie control of the money which belongs to all Venezuelans."

After 11 years in power, he blames the economic woes on a global crisis in capitalism and the impact of a traditional elite who he says are determined to drive him from office.

Critics, however, say his socialist economic policies -- including widespread nationalizations, currency controls and pressure on the private sector -- are ruining what should be one of the continent's richest nations, given its oil wealth.
Meanwhile, apparently unhappy with controlling state media, he's now taken up blogging. Must be a great read.

The guy who locks up political enemies is also joining forces with the Obama administration, Mexico and a small number of American malcontents in attacking Arizona. He might want to clean up his own house before flapping his gums.
Meanwhile, in Venezuela, Chavez's human rights record has been criticized by watchdog groups in several areas, including political discrimination, lack of freedom of expression and freedom of association. The U.S. Department of State's 2009 Human Rights Report on Venezuela also identified other human rights problems in the country of roughly 27 million, including summary executions of criminal suspects, widespread criminal kidnappings for ransom, political prisoners and selective prosecution for political purposes, "considerable corruption" in all levels of government and many others.

The report also notes that Venezuelan law makes "insulting" the president a crime punishable by up to 30 months in prison without bail, with lesser penalties for insulting lower-ranking officials.
...
Jonah Goldberg, a visiting fellow at American Enterprise Institute, a Washington-based conservative think tank, said the recent comments are "standard operating procedure" for politicians in Cuba, as well as Chavez.

"The denunciation of the United States' human rights record comes from the people who have had the most brutal human rights record," he said. "It's the playbook they always go back to. Taking denunciations seriously from places like Cuba and Venezuela is just a colossal waste of time."

Classy: WaPo Features Book 'Repuglicans'

They'd sure as heck never show Democrats portrayed this way or, heaven forbid, images goofing on Mohammed.

But Republicans? Hey, they're fair game.
No one, it seems, is safe from a monster mash-up. This publishing sensation took off with “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” in which ultra-violent zombie mayhem was grafted onto the Jane Austen classic. The blood has flowed into many knock-offs: “Wuthering Bites,” "Little Women and Werewolves," "Emma and the Vampires.” Historical political figures are not immune. Witness the recent publication of “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” and “Queen Victoria: Demon Hunter.”

Now the gore has spilled into the monstrous swamp of American politics with “Repuglicans: They Came to Feed on the Body Politic,” a gallery of ghoulish portraits of conservative political figures, including Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney, Mike Huckabee and others.

The art work is the product of Pete Von Sholly who storyboards feature films and draws graphic novels. “I don’t have anything against conservatives or Republicans or “tea partyers” … per se,” he writes in the introduction. “But … some people will say ANYTHING in their frothing frenzy of freak out, no matter how insane.”
Yeah, he has nothing against them, except the fact he obviously hates them.
Steve Tatham, a comedian who describes himself as a recovering Republican, provides commentary on the public personages. He defines the term “Repuglican” thusly: “First of all, it is not synonymous with ‘Republican.’ There are 55 million Republicans in the United States. Most of them are decent, honorable people.” Tatham thinks that the Republican beliefs of limited government, state’s rights, traditional American values and a pro-business philosophy are all reasonable and worthwhile. Real Republicans and real Democrats, in his view, all want the United States to be a better place for everyone. A Repuglican, he says, “is someone who espouses conservative ideology to serve his or her own personal agenda without concern for the greater public good. A Repuglican knowingly manipulates the public, whipping them into a frenzy through not entirely true statements, in order to further his or her own career.”
What's worse, a deranged liberal or someone who pretends to have been a Republican to sell books?

'If I Put This Up Your Butt, You'll Find Out How Effective It Is'

So nice to see Chicago Mayor Richard Daley suggesting he'd like to sodomize a reporter with a gun. Not only that, he also says if Supreme Court justices were attacked with guns they'd come to their senses and agree with his Draconian stance on gun laws.

All this while another Chicago cop was just shot to death in hiw lawless city.

The Chicago Way, I guess. Ignore nthe criminals and go after people looking to protect themselves.
In anti-handgun Chicago, criminals aren't bothered by Mayor Richard Daley's handgun ban. They haven't been bothered for years.

And so another Chicago police officer was shot to death. But it wasn't during a traffic stop or some hunt through an alley after a drug sting.

Thomas Wortham IV, 30, was a victim of a robbery, shot down outside his boyhood home in the staunchly middle-class Chatham neighborhood, his body dragged 100 feet or so by the getaway car.

The thugs were trying to steal his motorcycle, a gift to himself upon his return from a second tour of duty in Iraq as a first lieutenant in the Army National Guard.

Wortham, a patrol officer, was helping his neighbors reclaim a troubled neighborhood park, the scene of several recent shootings.

"He was the best of us. He was a role model. He was 30 years old, a grown man, a police officer, a soldier, a man of service," said Ald. Freddrenna Lyle, 6th, who has known the Wortham family since she was a child.

"It was 'Yes, ma'am' and 'No, sir' from him. He had self-respect. He was teaching these young men how to be men," she said.

I talked to Lyle on a side street in Chatham just after she'd paid a long condolence call to the Wortham family, as neighbors stood out on their sidewalks, agonizing over the loss.

The front lawns were neat and small. Backyard gardens were places of old-fashioned flowers, peonies and phlox and tea-roses. It is a neighborhood carefully tended.

At that moment, Mayor Daley was holding a news conference, another dog-and-pony show at City Hall to demonstrate his tough stance on crime.

He called it to express his concern that the U.S. Supreme Court will overturn the city's handgun ban. There were guns on a table as props, so much eye candy for the cameras.

A reporter asked the obvious question: Given the numbers of shootings in the city, isn't the handgun ban ineffective?

The question was more than fair. In Chicago, the only people who are confident in their 2nd Amendment rights to bear arms are the criminals, the cops and the politicians.

Law-abiding citizens can't own handguns. They don't have an army of bodyguards, as does Daley. Political hacks have guns. They get out the vote for his machine.

And the retired neighbor who's never been arrested in his life? Oh, no. If he has a gun, it would be anarchy in the streets, according to Daley.

Confronted with a logical question, here's what the mayor did: He picked up a rifle from the prop table of guns, raised it and began to babble.

"It's been very effective," said Daley of the handgun ban. "If I put this up your butt, you'll find out how effective it is. Let me put a round up your, you know."

The mayor of Chicago then went on to say if the justices were attacked by thugs with guns, they'd see things his way.

"Maybe they'll see the light of day," Daley said. "Maybe one of them will have an incident, and they'll change their mind overnight, going to and from work."
This is your brain on liberalism.
Daley has been a bully his entire life, a child of muscle and privilege, and now he's terrified at the prospect that his citizens might think he's lost control of the streets.

The police despise him. Their department is terribly understaffed and overworked. Taxpayers want more cops. But there's no money for additional police because Daley wasted it all, hundreds of millions of dollars year after year after year on deals for his cronies.

While Daley spent his life pushing weaker people around, Thomas Wortham spent his life as a man of service. Now he's cold at the funeral home, waiting for burial.
I blame Daley.

American Flag Drawing = Bad; Obama Drawing = Good

It's come to this.
The battle over the American flag has reached a middle school art class in California’s Santa Rita School District where a student was told not to draw Old Glory because it was “offensive,” while another student was praised for drawing a picture of President Obama.

Tracy Hathaway, of Salinas, CA, told FOX News Radio her 13-year-old daughter was ordered to stop drawing the American flag and start another project at Gavilan View Middle School.

“She had drawn the flag and was sketching the letters, ‘God bless America,’ when the teacher confronted her,” Hathaway told FOX. “She said, ‘You can’t draw that – that’s offensive.’”

Even more striking, another student in the same art class drew a picture of President Obama and was praised by the teacher.

“The picture of Barack Obama was in red, white and blue hues,” Hathaway said. “ The teacher said it was great. But when it comes to the flag – all of a sudden it was offensive?”

Hathaway said she took her concerns to the principal – and he was “floored” and apologized for what happened. He arranged a meeting with the Hathaways and the teacher.

“My husband point-blank asked her what she found offensive about the picture – the American flag or the words, ‘God Bless America,’” she said. “The teacher didn’t say a word.”

Hathaway said she was especially concerned that a picture of President Obama was praised yet a picture of the American flag was deemed offensive.

“That showed where she stood in the political spectrum,” she said “But this was not a political class. This was not a religious class. This was an art class.“
Just disgusting. Video at the link.

A huge backlash is coming, folks, and these wacked-out teachers isn't going to know what hit them.

'This is What Happened in Nazi Germany. This is Exactly What Happened'

It'c come to this in the debate over Arizona's illegal alien legislation. Obscure Canadian musicians chiming in with their keen politcal insights.
Arizona music lovers won't be seeing Stars anytime soon.

The Canadian indie-popsters are boycotting the state over its controversial new immigration law allowing police to ask anyone for proof of U.S. citizenship — a situation that frontman Torquil Campbell likens to Nazi Germany.

"This law is the thin end of an extremely frightening wedge," he charged. "Anybody who can't see that, I think, isn't looking closely enough."

"This specific law is the turning point in a growing sense of underlying racism — anger at there being a black president, anger at minorities beginning to become a part of the economic life in America. There are some scary forces in that country, and they are starting to be legitimized by the media, and it is important that right now, people start to take extremely strong stands against those people. Because this is what happened in Nazi Germany. This is exactly what happened.

"If we don't stop this s--- right now, I really fear for North America in general," he said. "I think it's terrifying."

Torquil revealed the band's stand via their Twitter account earlier this week. In the days since, he's been bombarded with reaction from people on both sides of the issue.

"I'm getting a lot of letters from the Latino community in Arizona and they are in support of what we're doing almost unanimously," he said. "And I've also had a lot of abuse from closet racists disguised as hipsters."
Closet hipsters. Can there be a more nefarious, terrifying force?

Meanwhile, NYC Comptroller John Liu of the Working Families Party compares Arizona to apartheid South Africa. I wish these people would corrdinate their message a little betetr. Is it Nazi Germany or South Africa? Can someone maybe work in a Pol Pot or Stalin analogy?
Nearly two dozen New York City Council members and other city officials gathered on the steps of City Hall Thursday to announce a resolution to condemn the law.

"This is the ugly head of apartheid rearing its head in Arizona," city controller John Liu said. "And for the same reason that New York boycotted South Africa more than 20 years ago, some kind of boycott needs to take place now to send a message."

Diminutive Jocksniffer Wants MLB to Blackmail Arizona

Why not just recommend Major League Baseball to revoke the charter of the Arizona Diamondbacks? While we're at it, why not urge the NFL to cancel any games scheduled in Arizona this fall and make the Cardinals play all their games on the road?

I don't think the miniature sportswriter turned political analyst thought this one out too well. Probably just an emotional reaction to not getting his way, like most petulant children. Buffoons like Lupica are quick to call people racist and idiotic, but what should we call someone who urges blackmail in order to get his own way? Is he even aware an overwhelming majority of Arizona residents and Americans support this law?
Arizona's idiotic new immigration law does not officially go into effect until August, 90 days after the current legislative session ends in that state. That means for the next three months, a big new sport in this country will be watching big politicians try to run away from this issue, starting with the President of the United States. Maybe all of them are waiting for the whole thing to end up in front of the Supreme Court.

In the short run, however, the only way to stop a political hustler like Ariz. Gov. Jan Brewer is for other politicians in her state - and that ought to start with Sen. John McCain - to come to their senses about a bad law that invites racial profiling even though Brewer insists it will not.
So no matter how many times Brewer reminds people that the law will prevent profiling, a closed mind like Lupica just refuses to believe her. Barack Obama could tell him the moon is made of green cheese and he'd believe it, but anything out of a Republican's mouth is to be ignored. When did this myth about liberals being open-minded start?
There is nothing that needs to be done in the moment, other than issue the warning. But if both Democrats and Republicans really are going to run from this until after the November elections, trying to appease the white voters who love Gov. Jan Brewer and somehow not scare off the Hispanic vote at the same time, Commissioner Bud Selig - who owns a home in Arizona - has a chance to be better than all of them.

Selig has a perfect right to say that if the law stands, then the All-Star Game goes somewhere else.
I'm going out on a limb and suggesting Lil' Mikey hasn't read the law. If he did he might learn something.
The law will allow police to engage in racial profiling. Actually, Section 2 provides that a law enforcement official “may not solely consider race, color or national origin” in making any stops or determining immigration status. In addition, all normal Fourth Amendment protections against profiling will continue to apply. In fact, the Arizona law actually reduces the likelihood of race-based harassment by compelling police officers to contact the federal government as soon as is practicable when they suspect a person is an illegal alien, as opposed to letting them make arrests on their own assessment.
But hey, why pay attention to the guy who actually wrote the law when you've got your mind made up already?

Now suppose Mikey Lilliputian gets his way. Where would he like the 2011 All-Star game to be held? Maybe St. Louis? Atlanta? Cleveland? Cincinnati? Houston? Arlington? Kansas City? Baltimore? Denver?

Well, I've got some disturbing news for him and the rest of the boycott blackmailers. Those cities are all in states that may soon be passing laws similar to those of Arizona. So that'll make ten MLB cities ineligible to host an All-Star game if this punk is to get his way.

Now since the Super Bowl is scheduled for Dallas next February, I suppose we'll have to blackmail the NFL into moving it out of there so as not to offend Mike Lupica.

In fact, this is such a slippery slope, we may as well just stop playing sports altogether since every city may have laws on the books that offend someone.

Killjoy California Buzzards Want to Ban Happy Meal Toys

The end of happiness

To borrow one of the left's most cherished cliches: How mean-spirited! So under the guise of "protecting the children" they'll just create a bunch of unhappy ones.

How special.
The latest target in the battle over fast food is something you shouldn't even put in your mouth.

Convinced that Happy Meals and other food promotions aimed at children could make kids fat as well as happy, county officials in Silicon Valley are poised to outlaw the little toys that often come with high-calorie offerings.

The proposed ban is the latest in a growing string of efforts to change the types of foods aimed at youngsters and the way they are cooked and sold. Across the nation, cities, states and school boards have taken aim at excessive sugar, salt and certain types of fats.

Believed to be the first of its kind in the nation, the proposal would forbid the inclusion of a toy in any restaurant meal that has more than 485 calories, more than 600 mg of salt or high amounts of sugar or fat. In the case of McDonald's, the limits would include all of the chain's Happy Meals — even those that include apple sticks instead of French fries.

Supporters say the ban would encourage restaurants to offer more-nutritious foods to kids and would make unhealthful items less appealing. But opponents believe it amounts to government meddling in parental decisions. The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors will consider the proposal Tuesday.

Even though it's largely symbolic — the proposed ban would apply only to the dozen fast-food restaurants within the jurisdiction of the board — the proposal has caused a bit of an uproar on the Internet, where comments on YouTube and other sites say it is another example of the "nanny state" gone wild.
No kidding. What a bunch of miserable cretins.
The California Restaurant Assn. has taken out full-page newspaper advertisements against the proposed ordinance in local newspapers. One shows a little girl with her hands cuffed behind her back as she holds a stuffed animal.

Another opponent wrote in a YouTube posting, "I want to know when the pitchforks and torches and rope is going to come out.... We need to run these Frankenstein politician monsters the hell out of town!"

Can't Stop Laughing: Tea Party Saboteur Under Investigation

How's that party crashing working out, douchebag?
A middle school teacher in Oregon who announced his intention "to dismantle and demolish the Tea Party" on his "Crash the Tea Party" Web site is under investigation by his state's Teacher Standards & Practices Commission.

The investigation by Oregon's teacher licensing agency comes in response to a public outcry over Jason Levin's public statements that he'll do anything short of throwing rocks to bring down the Tea Party.

Levin, the media teacher at Conestoga Middle School in Beaverton, is the leader of a group that says it wants to infiltrate and bring down the loosely organized anti-big-government Tea Party movement.

He has said he would seek to embarrass Tea Partiers by attending their rallies dressed as Adolf Hitler, carrying signs bearing racist, sexist and anti-gay epithets, and acting as offensively as possible — anything short of throwing punches.

His school district is defending his right to free speech, but it's investigating whether he used district computers to spread his political message or worked on his Web site during school hours.

In a recent interview with Talking Points Memo, Levin said of his plans, “Our goal is that whenever a Tea Partier says 'Barack Obama was not born in America,' we're going be right there next to them saying, 'Yeah, in fact he wasn't born on Earth! He's an alien!'"

In a now deleted post on his “Crash the Tea Party” Web site, Levin called on his supporters to collect the Social Security numbers — among other personal identifying information — about as many Tea Party supporters as possible at the numerous rallies scheduled to take place on Thursday – Tax Day.

“Some other thoughts are to ask people at the rally to sign a petition renouncing socialism. See just how much info you can get from these folks (name address, DOB, Social Security #). The more data we can mine from the Tea Partiers, the more mayhem we can cause with it!!!!” he wrote.

The state agency is investigating whether this is a hint at identity theft, and whether it is appropriate behavior for a public school teacher. It also will investigate charges that Levin used school computers during school hours to work on his Web site. Levin works at Conestoga Middle School's media lab and teaches 6th, 7th and 8th graders about computers and technology.

According to the school district laws regulating teacher conduct, which are posted online: “The Beavertown School District rules involving teacher use of the district’s electronic system clearly state: The district's electronic communications system shall be used for educational purposes consistent with the district's mission, priorities and beliefs. Educational purposes do not include commercial use, use for personal financial gain or political advocacy.”
Now it appears this tool will have plenty of free time on his hands.
Jason Levin, the Conestoga Middle School teacher who created the "Crash the Tea Party" Web site, has been placed on paid administrative leave while Beaverton school officials investigate whether he inappropriately used school equipment or time to work on his Web site.

Beaverton School District made the decision in light of the widespread attention the case has sparked, spokeswoman Maureen Wheeler said this afternoon. Today was Levin's first day on leave since word broke earlier this week of his Web site.

"We just think at this point it would be a good choice to do that with all the attention that this has drawn," Wheeler said.
Doesn't look like his efforts paid off.

'She Is Absolutely Obsessed With Painting the Tea Party People as Racists'

Is this the best you Democrats can do? If you think about it for a second, if Tea Partiers were the racists they're being portrayed as, then why would these sneaky Democrats have to bus people in to pretend to be racist Tea Partiers? Taken further, why would Democrats know how to be "racist"? Does it just come natural to them?

Do they think this pathetic behavior is going to win them votes in November?
New Hampshire Democrats are engaged in a statewide search for liberal activists willing to attend so-called tea parties on Thursday and carry signs expressing racist or fringe sentiments, a Democratic source with knowledge of the effort tells NowHampshire.com.

According to the source, who sought anonymity for fear of reprisals, the Dems’ last minute scramble reflects a growing obsession among party leaders that they need to discredit the tea party movement soon or it will overwhelm them come the November election.

Former Democratic State Party Chairman Kathy Sullivan is heading up the search, the source said. Sullivan has been calling and e-mailing liberal activists trying to get them to attend tea parties in different parts of the state and hold signs denying the authenticity of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate and make racially disparaging comments to reporters.

“This is Kathy’s [Sullivan] project,” the source told NowHampshire.com. “She is absolutely obsessed with painting the tea party people as racists.”

Similar “crash the tea party” efforts are taking place throughout the country on Tax Day.

If she pulls it off, this won’t be the first time Sullivan has endeavored to manufacture a racist controversy regarding the tea party movement. Last month Sullivan and other Democratic leaders attempted to portray a “white pride” rally in Concord held by a Massachusetts-based white supremacist organization as a tea party. Sullivan was forced to retract her bogus accusation.

Green Police Coming to Cambridge

Here you thought that Audi commercial from Super Sunday was just a gag. Well, the folks in Cambridge, Massachusetts will soon be under the jurisdiction of the Green Police.
Going green will not be optional in Cambridge, Mass., if the Cambridge Climate Congress has its way. It will be mandatory.

There will be congestion pricing to reduce car travel. Curbside parking will be eliminated. There will be a carbon tax "of some kind," not to mention taxes on plastic and paper bags. And the Massachusetts city, home of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will advocate vegetarianism and veganism, complete with "Meatless or Vegan Mondays."
So now you'll have these liberal Nazis coming into your home to see what you're eating every Monday? Good grief. Where does this lunacy end?
"This emergency is created by the growth of local greenhouse gas emissions despite the urgent warnings of climate scientists that substantial reductions are needed in order to reduce the risk of disastrous changes to our climate," the Climate Congress reported in proposals issued on Jan. 23. "This proposal is made in the belief that an effective local response is, if anything, made more urgent by so far inadequate global agreements and federal policies for emissions reductions. It is made in the belief that our City should lead by example."
Does anyone have the heart to tell these wackos that this mythical "climate change" is a hoax?
While the group's proposals remain a work in a progress, some experts say the potential measures it advocates are "heavy-handed" and incongruous. But others say the city just might be onto something, particularly if the taxes associated with the plan are used to make buildings and transportation more efficient.

Dr. Ken Green, a resident scholar on environment and energy at the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative Washington-based think tank, said he found an "overall redundancy" in the proposals, specifically regarding a carbon-based tax coupled with congestion pricing, increased parking meter rates and parking tickets.

"That's just a revenue-raiser for the city," said Green. "There's an overall incoherence of having a carbon tax and three or four indirect taxes."
Thanks to Hot Air for the link. A commenter there pointed to an item in the American Thinker. Get a load of this nonsense.
The veneration of all things "local" continues: "Cambridge should move in the direction of economic change, creating a locally based economy." (Notes 8.) We might "[c]onsider a local currency." (Notes 76.) And "[e]ncourage businesses to hire local people who will not have to commute." (Notes 77.) Wow, trade barriers with Somerville?

Since automobiles generate greenhouse gases, numerous ideas were put forth to limit or eliminate cars from Cambridge. My favorite is the dictum: "Cars should be shared rather than privately owned." (Notes 75.) Pol Pot would be on board with that one.

Elsewhere we read: "Eliminate streetside parking in the city." (Proposal 15.) And: "To decrease the number of Cambridge residents or employees who depend on cars, we could decrease the number of on‐street parking spaces." (Notes 76.)

Got that? If you depend on your car to buy groceries, then the city will solve your dependence problem by taking away your on-street parking. If you're elderly or have teenage sons who drink milk by the half-gallon, then the problem would be solved by immediately moving to Belmont -- that is, if you could still sell a house without a driveway in mid-Cambridge.

Kosling Conspiracy Theory No.___

It should be an interesting weekend.
Modern political coverage is all about storylines, and once created, the media merely reinforces those storylines. And lo and behold, the vast majority of those storylines just so happen to be set by Republicans thanks to their massive media machine.
ROTFLMAO!!!
That's why Kerry -- a war hero -- can suddenly be "anti-troop" when that toady Boehner (who washed out of the navy in eight weeks because of a "bad back") can't possibly be brushing aside the deaths of 4,000 and the injuries of 30,000!
At least the little kommandante is consistent in the manner in which he shows his support of those who serve.

If It's Good Enough For The New York Times . . .

Having the eyes of a kestrel, it was easy to find Kosling Conspiracy Theory No.___: Court Says FoxNews Can Subvert The Truth floating in the Web's premier cesspool of progressive group-think.

As Zwoof screeches
In February 2003, a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously agreed with an assertion by FOX News that there is no rule against distorting or falsifying the news in the United States.
Well, there they go again. There is a rule, it's settled law; and unless the US Supreme Court reverses itself, it's the Law of the Land.

How could a Kosling, the intellectual stalwarts of the Parallel Universe, overlook such an important - but inconvenient - truth?

A reasonable presumption would be that in 1964, a rather very progressive-dominated Supreme Court said that it was cool to distort the truth when it ruled in favor of The New York Times in the landmark decision, Times v. Sullivan 376 U.S. 254 (1964), from which existing defamation laws in tort have evolved.
Respondent, an elected official in Montgomery, Alabama, brought suit in a state court alleging that he had been libeled by an advertisement in corporate petitioner's newspaper, the text of which appeared over the names of the four individual petitioners and many others. The advertisement included statements, some of which were false, about police action allegedly directed against students who participated in a civil rights demonstration and against a leader of the civil rights movement; respondent claimed the statements referred to him because his duties included supervision of the police department. The trial judge instructed the jury that such statements were "libelous per se," legal injury being implied without proof of actual damages, and that for the purpose of compensatory damages malice was presumed, so that such damages could be awarded against petitioners if the statements were found to have been published by them and to have related to respondent. As to punitive damages, the judge instructed that mere negligence was not evidence of actual malice and would not justify an award of punitive damages; he refused to instruct that actual intent to harm or recklessness had to be found before punitive damages could be awarded, or that a verdict for respondent should differentiate between compensatory and punitive damages. The jury found for respondent and the State Supreme Court affirmed. Held: A State cannot under the First and Fourteenth Amendments award damages to a public official for defamatory falsehood relating to his official conduct unless he proves "actual malice" - that the statement was made with knowledge of its falsity or with reckless disregard of whether it was true or false.
Who woulda thunk it? The Koslings are actually attacking the Warren Court.

UPDATE: Serendipity strikes again. Here's the perfect theme song for the Kooky Kult Kiddyz. Such mishegas, just in time for Daughter of COMINTERN, too.

The Chimpeachers

If you're looking for intelligent discourse, the Leftisphere has w-a-a-a-y more than its fair share of intellectuals.

One again, Orlando over at Ft. Hard Knox was inspired by the intelligentsia stinking up Digg.

Enjoy.
