Building Bridges: Unindicted Terror Co-Conspirators Call Boehner 'Un-American'

Call a fat slob like Dougie Hooper or any Democrat "un-American" and it's practically the end of the world. Yet the group he heads, an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land case, gets to run around calling the leader of the House GOP un-American and the media doesn't even blink an eye. That's what it's come to, folks. Disagree with the left or an Islamist and you're un-American. Yet they scratch their heads wondering why they're in such a distinct minority and why they'll pay severely at the polls for dividing Americans.

An Islamic organization is urging its supporters to contact House Minority Leader John Boehner's office to object to his stance on the Lower Manhattan mosque, calling his stance "un-American."

The Cincinnati chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said that Boehner's (R-Ohio) opposition of the planned Islamic center two blocks from the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks is "offensive and deeply disturbing," Cincinnati.com reported.

“By stating that building a mosque to accommodate American Muslim worshipers a few blocks away from the site of the 9/11 attacks is somehow wrong Congressman Boehner is implying that American Muslims bear collective guilt for those attacks," the group said in a statement. "This is offensive and disturbing especially in a nation that places so much importance in the rule of law.

"To imply collective guilt on whole groups of people when one or a few members of that group commit crimes is entirely un-American," it added.

Republicans and Democrats have both been put on the defensive ever since the debate over the Islamic center became a national political firestorm.

Boehner drew the ire of CAIR for disapproving of President Obama's comments on the facility ten days ago. Obama said that he backs the rights of the organizers to build the proposed Park51 center, citing religious freedom. But he later clarified he was not commenting on the "wisdom" of its location.

The Ohio Republican responded that the president was out of touch with public opinion on the issue.

The American people certainly don't support it," Boehner said. "The fact that someone has the right to do something doesn't necessarily make it the right thing to do ... This is not an issue of law, whether religious freedom or local zoning. This is a basic issue of respect for a tragic moment in our history."

TIME TO TALK TO OSAMA

Following on from JWF's earlier post, one of the major themes in my forthcoming book "Unionism Decayed" on the Northern Ireland "peace process" is that its depraved model of accommodating terrorists is a toxic template that must not be applied in dealing with other terror groups - if we want to see the values of our democracies preserved. So, that's why it is no big surprise to hear one of those most intimately in the Northern Ireland process, Jonathan Powell, witter that Western governments must talk to terror groups including Hamas, al-Qaida and the Taliban to persuade them to stop their campaigns of violence!

Powell, Tony Blair's chief of staff from 1995 to 2007, said the Northern Ireland peace settlement was made possible through a secret channel the government established with the Irish Republican Army - and that similar lines should now be created with other terror groups. So, secret talks with Al Queda, Hamas, and the Taliban. Concessions to be made, deals to be cut.

Powell's advice represents EVERYTHING that I oppose. I sincerely believe that the best way to deal with terrorists is to terrorise them, kill them where you find them, show them no mercy and relentlessly track them down. If they have the support of local populations, as Hamas has in Gaza for example, then economic sanctions should be applied to punish such depravity. The political apologists for terrorism should be treated with the utmost disrespect, and the entire left-wing notion that appeasement works dismissed for the utter cant it is. Talking of cant, Jonathan Powell is an absolute moral bankrupt whose cheer-leading for talks with the terror group that has murdered thousands of innocents is an affront to all civilised people. He also fails to understand that militant Islam is not interested in having a chat with us, it is much more keen on killing us in sufficient numbers that our leaders submit. Powell's advice is music to their ears.

FROM GALWAY TO GAZA...

Delighted to read that Egypt is not prepared to take any nonsense from an Irishwoman who was found sneaking into Hamas controlled Gaza. Treasa Ni Cheannabhain, her daughter and an Egyptian niece were allowed back into Egypt on Thursday but she was immediately taken in for questioning.

On Saturday, she said she was given a choice by the Egyptian authorities - to come before a military court, or to return to Gaza indefinitely. She has chosen to face the court (!) rather than spend more time with her dear Hamas buddies. She crossed over into Gaza illegally from Egypt last Saturday after being refused legal entry by Egyptian authorities. On Sunday, Egyptian forces resealed the Gaza border, nearly two weeks after its Israeli-built barriers had been blown apart by (sic) militants. Egyptian border officials refused them re-entry, even though Ms Ni Cheannabhain is married to an Egyptian citizen. They had been distributing money to Palestinians collected by the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

Just a few questions. Hamas openly seek the destruction of Israel and engage in continual acts of terror. Yet the BBC report merely indicates that Ms Cheannabhain wanted to dispense "charity aid" amongst the Hamas supporting population of Gaza. To my mind, it is clear to any sensible person what Hamas are, and therefore when we read about this Irishwoman breaking the law in order to get money from Galway to Gaza, is it not reasonable to ask if she is not merely one more fool who seeks to give financial support to the anti-Semites that occupy Gaza? The Irish Government should disown her as her actions bring shame all the way from Gaza back to Galway.

Déjà Vu: Apologists Unfurl Stale Arguments

Moments after the latest terror attack on Britain, television commentators engaged in the usual rhetorical hara-kiri, blaming everyone but its authors: the two Muslim jihadists jumping out of a burning car at Glasgow's international airport ululating "Allah! Allah!" — even as one of them was barbecued — and the European Union's vast Muslim fundamentalist infrastructure, which spawned them.

The initial discussions of the three car bombs — two in central London were defused, unexploded — were déjà vu writ large: Blaming the victims, criticizing British foreign policy offenses that might have "driven" British Muslims to kill their countrymen, highlighting the frustrations of minority communities forced to live in the West, and renewing calls for — yes, indeed — more interreligious dialogue.

It was not much better in America. With live images of the Glasgow International Airport fires blazing away, American networks hosted the so-called experts who, again, explained the "torment" of poor Muslims. Disgracefully, one guest — Michael Scheuer, a former CIA analyst who is a familiar face now whenever instant analysis is needed — droned on about the many reasons Muslims are "so" offended by this or that behavior in the West.

Mr. Scheuer's mindless diatribe, unquestionably motivated by the need to land consulting contracts in Muslim country, pushed a Fox News anchorwoman, Michelle Malkin, to interject something akin to "Let us not blame the victims now." But it was not enough to stop the rant.

But so the story goes: Whenever it comes to Muslims, commentators feel the need for obfuscation. It reaches absurd proportions in Britain, but America is certainly its sideshow.
