President Obama strayed from his prepared remarks at a Labor Day rally to accuse his opponents of talking about him "like a dog."

Obama was in Milwaukee to speak at the Milwaukee Laborfest, attended by Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. He used the speech to promote his $50 billion infrastructure plan and to criticize Republicans ahead of crucial midterm elections.

"Some powerful interests who had been dominating the agenda in Washington for a very long time and they're not always happy with me. They talk about me like a dog. That's not in my prepared remarks, but it's true," he told the union crowd.

Bomb Squad Called After Suspicious Packages Found at Boehner's OH Office

Curiously, this didn't make any national news Sunday. I guess the bomb squad being called out to the House Speaker's office doesn't merit much attention.

A bomb squad was called to House Speaker John Boehner's West Chester office Sunday.

A West Chester officer on patrol spotted three black suitcases at the door of Boehner's office around 11:30 a.m.

West Chester police and fire and the Butler County Bomb Squad responded to the scene.

The bomb squad spent two hours disrupting the packages one-by-one with a robot to ensure the area was safe.

Police said there were no bombs in the suitcases, only papers.

Police blocked off the parking lot around Boehner's office and the adjoining parking lot.

There were messages on each of the briefcases that included the words "jobs and oil."

I blame Nancy Pelosi and the leftwing climate of hate. In fact just the other day Pelosi sent out an email stating:

Let’s stand together for a new direction that chooses creating jobs and protecting Medicare over false attacks and reckless tax breaks for billionaires and Big Oil.

Hmmm.

'The President’s Worried About His Next Election'

What else would he be worried about? Well, other than his next tee time, his birthday party and upcoming vacation on Martha's Vineyard. It's not as if he's the adult in the room or anything.

With his self-imposed deadline for releasing a deficit plan before overseas markets open just a few hours away, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said both sides were “not there yet" and pushed for a two-stage debt-limit vote.

“I would prefer to have a bipartisan approach to solve this problem,” Boehner said on Fox News Sunday. “If that's not possible, I and my Republican colleagues are prepared to do this alone. Today.”

Boehner pushed for a proposed two-stage debt-limit vote.

It is not “physically possible” to get everything done before the Treasury Department’s August 2 deadline for raising the debt ceiling, Boehner said. “There is going to be a two stage process.”

“I don't want to get anywhere close to [default],” he said. “This is about what's doable at the eleventh hour.”

Boehner’s office said late Saturday that a two-vote approach was now necessary in order to raise the debt ceiling immediately while tackling deficit-reduction later.

Boehner also criticized President Obama for recommending a debt ceiling deal be timed to last beyond the next election season.

“The president’s worried about his next election, but my God, shouldn't we be worried about the country?” Boehner said. “I'm not worried about the next election. I told the president months ago: Forget about the next election!”

Good luck with that, Mr. Speaker.

Meanwhile, Dingy Harry says it's time for the GOP to cooperate. Sure, why not?

"Their unwillingness to compromise is pushing us to the brink of a default on the full faith and credit of the United States," Reid said. "We have run out of time for politics. Now is the time for cooperation."

Imagine his demands if he and the Democrats ever offered up their own plan.

Boehner said Sunday during a commencement speech at Ohio Stadium that his own last name has been pronounced to rhyme with the words honor and leaner and even "boner."

Then he said: "Thank God it's not Weiner."

Boehner then resumed crying.

Boehner got emotional several times during his brief speech to thousands of graduates and about 40,000 of their relatives and friends. He encouraged students to work hard, be humble and persevere. He said they should not be afraid to occasionally shed a tear of thanks for the gifts in their lives.

Dingy Harry Abandons Weiner

Even a sleazebag like Harry Reid wants nothing to do with the disgraced Anthony Weiner.

Reid told reporters on Tuesday that he wished there were some way he could defend the New York congressman, but he can't. It was the latest sign of the cool response Weiner is getting from fellow Democrats embarrassed by his online sex scandal.

Asked what he would do if Weiner called him for advice, Reid said he'd tell him to call somebody else.

Meanwhile, John Boehner wisely lays low.

“This is right now a problem for Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Steve Israel and Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the focus needs to remain on Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Steve Israel and Debbie Wasserman Schultz,” a GOP leadership aide said of the House minority leader, the head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. “If [Weiner’s] party leaders don’t act, there could be some kind of institutional requirement. But for the time being, I think the contrast in the way the House Democratic leadership is handling it” in contrast to how GOP leaders dealt with similar cases “is pretty telling.”

Well played, Speaker Boehner. Make Weiner the face of the party for as long as they'll have him.

Dems Are Sure To Want Control of Internet Now

At least Speaker Boehner is making an effort to embrace new technologies and use 21st century solutions. Everyone always assumes that conservatives are some how stuck in the past when in fact they have been at the forefront of many inovations especially when it comes to using web based services.


The big example I can think of comes from August of 2008. The Republicans were trying to bring an energy policy bill, which would have addressed many of the problems we are having today and if it had been implemented we wouldn't be having these problems, to the floor for a vote. Nancy Pelosi was not having any of that and with a scheduled break coming up decided to literally turn out the lights, shut off the mics and cameras and post guards at the door and do what has become a staple of Democrat politics ever since, leave town. The Republicans immediately took to Twitter, a service heretofore unknown to me to get out their message. Another congressman fired up a live stream feed using something called Qik. While the Dems tried to shut them up, even posting guards to keep Americans out of the house chambers and visiting these congressmen the message was getting out. Overnight the Tea Party gained even more recognition and as they say the rest is history.

'You Have Me Confused with John Boehner'

Nice to see the new tone firmly taking root on the left. In one corner you have a low-rated, unhinged MSNBC babblehead. In the other, the Speaker of the House. Not too hard to separate the two.

When Keith "Uberdork" Olbermann signed off at MSNBC last week, one of his colleagues burst into tears -- of joy. A network spy said Ed Schultz welled up with happy tears when he learned Olbermann was booted and that he'd be moved to the better 10 p.m. time slot as part of a resulting program shuffle. Schultz, who's known for random outbursts, such as when he yelled at staff, "I'm going to torch this [bleeping] place!" was told to ditch his "psycho-talk" segment in his new time. He said through an MSNBC rep, "You have me confused with John Boehner."

Speaking of Olberdork, we may finally have the reason for his precipitous slide into looneyland.

In the end, it wasn't Keith Olbermann's wacko politics, bipolar tantrums, or the Comcast takeover that set his MSNBC career on a collision course with an iceberg.

It was Ben Affleck.

A source formerly with the cable network said the end began in April 2009, when Rachel Maddow booked Hollywood's darling to appear on her show. Olbermann wanted the star for himself on "Countdown."

It was the first battle Keith didn't win.

"In protest, he refused to go on the air," said the ex-colleague.

It wasn't his first meltdown. A year and a half earlier, MSNBC had moved studios from the Jersey boonies to Rockefeller Center. When Olbermann discovered that his new office door had a built-in window, he went ballistic, phoning network President Phil Griffin and threatening to walk.

"I mean literally, Andrea. Over the door!" said the source. "Keith made such a fit about it. He was ugly and mean. But no one came to his defense.

"Part of me feels sorry for him. He can't blame alcoholism. That was just a normal thing for him to throw tantrums." The door was replaced.

But it begs the question: Can Keith Olbermann be saved? Or, like Norma Desmond, will he fade, screaming, into the sunset?

After he lost Affleck, Olbermann staged a three-day sickout. He later claimed that he vanished from the air to mourn his mother (and attend baseball games). But Olbermann's mom died nearly two weeks earlier, CityFile reported, and he didn't miss a day of work. Until Ben.

Last April, Olbermann went nuts when Donny Deutsch was hired as a guest host on MSNBC. He got Deutsch bumped.

"Donny was p- - -ed," said a source.

Shortly after that, Olbermann first proposed walking away from more than two years on his $7 million-a-year contract, as The Post reported. Then, just as suddenly, he stayed put. In November, he was suspended two days for making political contributions. But he never apologized. He truly believed he was being persecuted.

So earlier this month, when Olbermann again whined that he wasn't happy, MSNBC brass couldn't wait to be rid of him.

"He has no friends, nobody to go to," said one former pal. "He said, 'I can't take this! This is too much for me!' Well, guess what. Nobody cared."

Hey, Maybe Republicans Are Serious About This Constitution Thing

While all of the attention today has been on the passing of gavel from disgraced and ostracized former speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi to John Boehner, the Republicans held their first vote with a big tip of the hat towards the constitution. They voted to strip full floor voting rights from the delegates which represent our territories and the District of Columbia.

Republicans have long argued that the Constitution, which says the House should be made up of representatives chosen by the "several states," rules out voting by non-state delegates. The office of new House Speaker John Boehner on Tuesday said Boehner "continues to believe . that delegates should not vote in the Committee of the Whole because they constitutionally cannot vote on the House floor."

"It's very apparent to me that we need to focus on the Constitution and (under the Constitution) states are to be represented in the House of Representatives," said House Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier, R-Calif.

There is a lot rules surrounding just what powers these delegates have and what this measure basically boils down to is they can no longer vote on amendments to bills on the floor of the house. They could never vote on the final bills and this simply limits their participation to committees.

Predictably the delegate from DC is taking this extremely hard especially since the Democrats tried in vain to make them a full representative when they controlled congress, which if history is any sort of a teacher will be about 40 years from now before they get their next chance.

Pelosi on Boehner: 'He Is Known to Cry'

Seems to me like she's telling John Boehner to man up.

Incoming Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said incoming Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is "known to cry."

"You know what? He is known to cry. He cries sometimes when we’re having a debate on bills. If I cry, it’s about the personal loss of a friend or something like that. But when it comes to politics — no, I don’t cry. I would never think of crying about any loss of an office, because that’s always a possibility, and if you’re professional, then you deal with it professionally," Pelosi (D-Calif.) told the New York Times magazine.

She noted: "I have deep emotions about the American people. If I were to cry for anything, I would cry for them and the policies that they’re about to face."

How clever.

Then she becomes delusional.

"I was the first woman speaker. It didn’t get that much play. And I’m not a publicity seeker, so it was OK with me. Boehner, before the election, they had him on the cover of Newsweek. Now he’s on the cover of Time, and women are coming to me and saying, 'Is the job less important when a woman holds it?'

She didn't get any attention? Huh? Heck, she even got the special airbrushing treatment from some magazines.

As to her claim she never cries over politics, how does she explain this performance?

Meet John Boehner's Brother

While most politicians on the conservative side have their personal lives gone through with a sort of CSI forensics scrutiny, the presumed next leader of the House of the Representatives John Boehner has avoided a lot of that. Imagine my surprise to find out that he has a brother who lives in Georgia. I was also surprised to find out that the Boehner family was pretty big. There were 12 children, 9 boys and 3 girls.

Greg Boehner is a small business owner and a Tea Party supporter. While not very politically active, choosing to live his life with as little attention as possible like most of us want to.

A tea party flag bearing the National Rifle Association logo hangs next to the serving window at the Front Porch, and Boehner said he shares his brother’s political beliefs. He campaigned for Republican Austin Scott in this year’s 8th District congressional race, but he doesn’t really like controversy.

He prefers a casual chat in local bars or just people-watching, he said.

Boehner has made only one trip to Washington, and that was on a legislative trip with the Licensed Beverage Association, he said. When his brother takes power Jan. 3, he does plan to be on hand, but he’d like to do some sightseeing, too. He wants to look for the name of a family friend on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall.

Greg found his way to Georgia after serving at Ft Benning and has now developed a taste for the life in the south including NASCAR, but some old habits are hard to break. He is still a Cincinnati Reds fan.

House Democrat Runs Ad Comparing Himself With Boehner

Guess that White House campaign to demonize John Boehner isn't working. In fact now you've got a vulnerable Dem.ocrats showing himself in an ad with Boehner.

In perhaps the most striking example of a vulnerable Democrat racing away from the national party as the midterm elections near, Rep. Bobby Bright (D-Ala.) is running a TV ad that features side-by-side photos of him and Minority Leader John Boehner (Ohio). The spot touts that he "votes 80 percent with the Republican leader."

Several House Democrats have run ads that speak out against Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) by name, but Bright appears to be the first incumbent to feature Boehner, her chief rival in Congress and the man who would be speaker if Republicans win control of the House.

Bright, a freshman in a tight reelection race, has broken with Pelosi on major legislation more than any other Democrat. He voted against the stimulus bill, healthcare reform, cap-and-trade climate legislation and the financial regulatory overhaul. He has refused to endorse Pelosi for another term as speaker, and in August he made national headlines by joking that she "might get sick and die" after he was asked whether he would support her again in January.

I suspect we may well see any surviving conservative Democrats switching parties come January. A delusional Democrat Koolaid slurper responds.

A House leadership aide backed that up on Friday. Responding to the Bright ad, the aide said: "That's a darn good ad. It's because of independent members like Bright that we'll keep the House."

Coping with reality is clearly not his strong suit.

They already brought us the earth-shattering news that future House Speaker John Boehner actually knows Washington lobbyists, a stunning development in political circles considering he lives and works in Washington. Now the fair and impartial arbiters of truthiness at the New York Times plan another smear attack on Boehner set for later in October so they can try and influence the midterm elections.

They have no idea how badly this will backfire with an already angry public and likely will lead to even more defeats for Democrats in tight races. Aren't these the same people who whine about "negative campaigning" and the "politics of personal destruction" every election cycle? Even worse, they're hopping into bed with the discredited smear merchants from Daily Kos.

Pathetic.

The heat is on Republican leader John Boehner.

Liberal media outlets are trying to smear the highest-ranking Republican in the House just weeks before the midterm elections with a deal-breaking scandal before he has a chance to take the speaker's chair from Nancy Pelosi.

A blogger from liberal Web site The Daily Kos pierced through Boehner's security detail at yesterday's unveiling of his leadership policy "Pledge to America" to ask if he was sleeping with a lobbyist from the Printing Industries of America.

The congressman ignored the pesky blogger with a flip camera and kept moving to his fleet of black Suburbans.

The lobbyist who was named in the confrontation and then was contacted by he Daily Kos blogger Lisbeth Lyons denied the accusations. "As you can imagine, I was stunned by such a question," Lyons said. "I found it to be highly insulting, particularly as a female political professional, as well as unfounded. Beyond that, I have no further comment on the matter."

Insiders on Capitol Hill are buzzing about an upcoming New York Times exposé that will detail an alleged Boehner affair. Sources say the Times is looking for the right time to drop the story in October to sway the election, similar to how the Times reported during the 2008 presidential campaign on an alleged John McCain affair that supposedly had taken place many years before and that was flatly denied by the woman in question.

"Catching Boehner with a mistress is the only way to destroy him politically before the election," a source said.

If the Times wants to play games I have two words for them: Vera Baker.

You'll never guess. Can't wait for the New York Times hit team to unveil their investigation of Queen Nancy.

If you read this weekend’s New York Times’ hit job on would-be Speaker John Boehner and his “lobbyist friends,” you might think, as the reporter clearly thinks, that John Boehner is cozier with lobbyists than most powerful politicians are.

But did you know:

* Nancy Pelosi has raised almost twice as much money from lobbyists this election as Boehner has?
* At least 18 House Democrats have raised more lobbyist cash this election than Boehner has.
* Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid have pocketed more lobbyist cash in the past 18 months than Boehner has raised in the past 6 elections, combined?

Heck, it's been almost two years and has the Times even mentioned Schumer was up to his eyeballs in Bernie Madoff cash?

Building Bridges: Unindicted Terror Co-Conspirators Call Boehner 'Un-American'

Call a fat slob like Dougie Hooper or any Democrat "un-American" and it's practically the end of the world. Yet the group he heads, an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land case, gets to run around calling the leader of the House GOP un-American and the media doesn't even blink an eye. That's what it's come to, folks. Disagree with the left or an Islamist and you're un-American. Yet they scratch their heads wondering why they're in such a distinct minority and why they'll pay severely at the polls for dividing Americans.

An Islamic organization is urging its supporters to contact House Minority Leader John Boehner's office to object to his stance on the Lower Manhattan mosque, calling his stance "un-American."

The Cincinnati chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said that Boehner's (R-Ohio) opposition of the planned Islamic center two blocks from the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks is "offensive and deeply disturbing," Cincinnati.com reported.

“By stating that building a mosque to accommodate American Muslim worshipers a few blocks away from the site of the 9/11 attacks is somehow wrong Congressman Boehner is implying that American Muslims bear collective guilt for those attacks," the group said in a statement. "This is offensive and disturbing especially in a nation that places so much importance in the rule of law.

"To imply collective guilt on whole groups of people when one or a few members of that group commit crimes is entirely un-American," it added.

Republicans and Democrats have both been put on the defensive ever since the debate over the Islamic center became a national political firestorm.

Boehner drew the ire of CAIR for disapproving of President Obama's comments on the facility ten days ago. Obama said that he backs the rights of the organizers to build the proposed Park51 center, citing religious freedom. But he later clarified he was not commenting on the "wisdom" of its location.

The Ohio Republican responded that the president was out of touch with public opinion on the issue.

The American people certainly don't support it," Boehner said. "The fact that someone has the right to do something doesn't necessarily make it the right thing to do ... This is not an issue of law, whether religious freedom or local zoning. This is a basic issue of respect for a tragic moment in our history."

Ohio Woman Dies of Swine Flu, Ghoulish Blogger Exploits It to Score Cheap Political Points

It's bad enough the discourse in this country has sunk so low we have the left doing a touchdown dance over the death of a census worker in Kentucky, so all-consuming is their hatred for all things conservative. That's bad enough. Now we have some ghoul at Think Progress (Motto: If We think, It Would Be Progress!) taking a fantastic leap forward to use the death of a young Ohio woman to take a cheapshot at GOP Congressman John Boehner because Boehner has the audacity to oppose the government takeover of the health care industry.

A 22-year-old woman from Oxford, Ohio, died from swine flu on Wednesday. Kimberly Young graduated from Miami University in December and continued to live in Oxford, Ohio, within Minority Leader John Boehner’s congressional distrct [sic]. Reports now indicate that after initially getting sick, Young put off treatment because she was uninsured.

That appears to be the case according to this news report.

So the young lady eschewed carrying insurance and now paid a tragic price for it. Yet left unmentioned is the fact she apparently didn't have a job with health benefits and there is also no mention of her parents or other family members. I'm not blaming them, obviously, but did she not have anyone to turn to for financial help if she was concerned she didn't have money for treatment?

How is any of this Boehner's fault?

So yet again we have a tragic case and the left immediately exploits it to score cheap political points. It really doesn't get any sicker than this.

The tragic irony in all this is let's say ObamaCare was enacted into law already. From most accounts I've seen it would be going into effect for several years at least, so in all likelihood this girl would still not have had coverage. Would Boehner still be to blame or would the Democrats who passed it but did not yet enact it be taking the hit for it?

We can have a public debate over policy in this country but we just cannot seem to escape the juvenile antics of these bloggers shamefully exploiting tragedies for some partisan gain. Taking this sad case and using it to bash her Congressman over the head with it just further drags the debate into the gutter, which is apparently where these people enjoy being.

It's worth noting that the young lady was apparently very liberal in her political beliefs. It's not a stretch to think is she were a conservative the thugs at Think Progress would probably be celebrating her death and saying she got what she deserved.

Update: This report now says she did not die of swine flu. I guess Boehner's still the blame anyway.

What a dick, this Victor Zapanta, fellow is. Identified as a “researcher” for CAP, Zapanta is a blooded political activist having worked for both Clinton and Obama in 2008. The idea that Boehner’s opposition to health care reform - or that anything Boehner has ever said or done - is in any way responsible for this young girl’s death is unbelievably calumnious and so off base as to be beyond the pale of rationality, of reason, and logic. The notion that Think Progress is connected in any way to an organization - The Center for American Progress - that is supposed to be a serious place for the study and promotion of public policy is a disgrace to intellectual honesty, a blot on our public discourse, and an affront to the decency of our democracy.

If you were to peruse the archives of this uber-partisan rag, you would find literally hundreds of similar off the wall headlines that are not meant to inform, or even to attack based on facts, but rather to simply smear in the most vile and distorted manner. It is the worst of politics, and given their connection to a supposedly august think tank, beneath contempt.

Bizarro World: Tax Cheat Rangel Seeks to Punish Tax Cheats

If you needed any further evidence how crooked and corrupt these liberal Democrats are, look no further than the outrageous chutzpah of New York's Charles Rangel. The man is neck deep in tax woes, recently "discovered" millions in unreported income and now has the audacity to sneakily slip new legal punishments into the proposed ObamaCare health bill.

Even as he fends off accusations about his own failure to pay taxes and fully disclose his financial dealings, Rep. Charles Rangel had quietly slipped into the health-care bill broad new provisions cracking down on taxpayers in proceedings with the IRS, The Post has learned.

The changes approved by the House Ways and Means Committee that Rangel chairs would strip away legal defenses and pile higher penalties on corporate and individual taxpayers facing IRS proceedings for what they claim are unintentional mistakes, experts said.

Rangel's bill would:

* Punish those who fail to alert the IRS to potentially questionable tax exemptions.

* Bar the IRS from waiving penalties against taxpayers who clearly erred in good faith.

* Double fines in certain circumstances.

"The bill raises penalties and eliminates many of the reasonable defenses that taxpayers have always been able to use when honest mistakes are uncovered," one lawyer told The Post.

In fact, the bill increases fines "in some cases even for honest mistakes," the expert added.

Republicans yesterday ripped Rangel's attempt to go after taxpayers, given his own failure to pay taxes on rental income from his villa in the Dominican Republic and his extensive reporting problems with his financial-disclosure statements to Congress.

"It is highly ironic that Chairman Rangel continues to work to crack down on American taxpayers who make honest mistakes on their tax forms when he himself has failed to pay his own staggering tax bills," said Michael Steel, spokesman for Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio).

In addition to $75,000 in rental income he failed to report to the IRS a few years ago, Rangel recently filed new papers revealing he neglected to disclose to Congress more than $1.3 million in income and $3 million in business deals between 2002 and 2006.

The Post reported last week that he also failed to pay taxes on property in New Jersey that he neglected for years to disclose he owned.

His office maintains he is now up to date on all his taxes.

I guess we're supposed to believe him.

Yo know it's time to go when even the ultra-liberal editorial pages are calling for his dismissal.

This bum could be dead ten years and he'd still be voted back into office, although if the GOP is wise he's going to be the poster boy for all things corrupt as we roll into the 2010 midterms.

Of course any ad that features him will be called racist, but we've come to expect that weak defense.

Rangel Lied, 'Most Ethical Congress Ever' Died

The hits just keep coming for New York's corrupt Congressman Charlie Rangel. He's probably privately giving thanks this is the week Ted Kennedy died since most of these reports of his sudden windfall seem to be flying under the national radar.

Rep. Charles Rangel claimed on mortgage papers that a Harlem brownstone was his principal residence -- even though he was living elsewhere at the time, The Post has learned.

When the Democrat -- who is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee -- took out the mortgage in 1990, he said the property on West 132nd Street was his "principal residence," records show.

But Rangel has been living since the 1970s in Harlem's Lenox Terrace apartment complex, where he improperly amassed four rent-stabilized properties.

State law requires that rent-regulated apartments be the tenant's residence.

"I will reside in the Property (on 132nd Street) for at least six (6) months of every calendar year," read Rangel's mortgage contract with Citibank, which is on file with the city.

The terms of the $60,000 loan appear to be normal for that time, but lenders say claiming principal residency when you live elsewhere is a serious breach.

"It's fraud or a mistake," said David Reed, an author of several popular books about mortgage lending.

I lean toward the former considering we're dealing with one of the greatest frauds to ever sit in Congress.

Despite overwhelming evidence this guy has skirted numerous laws, he still keeps his sense of humor.

Meanwhile, Rangel again refused to answer any questions yesterday.

"My only concern is just to see how is the press going to handle the mistakes that clearly they've made after the investigations have been completed and the Ethics Committee has worked its will," he said.

It's not as if the Post is the only local paper covering his shenanigans. Things are so bad even the NY Times isn't giving him a pass.

Mr. Rangel declined to discuss the latest revelations about his finances, which were reported on Friday by The New York Post.

Republicans said Friday that Mr. Rangel’s lapses in fully disclosing his finances were part of a long list of transgressions and renewed a demand that he be replaced as chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, which writes the tax code and is involved in shaping major policy, from the financial bailout to the health care plan.

“The ball is in Speaker Pelosi’s court,” said Bill Steel, a spokesman for the House minority leader, John A. Boehner of Ohio. Referring to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California, he added, “How much longer will she allow Representative Rangel to keep such a powerful and influential position, given the staggering array of ethical allegations he faces?”

Republicans also pressed Mr. Rangel to prove that he paid taxes on the previously unreported rental income. Last year, Mr. Rangel acknowledged that he owed more than $10,000 in back taxes because he had failed to report more than $70,000 in rental income from a villa in the Dominican Republic. “Obviously we need a full accounting of assets, the income on them and the tax implications,” Mr. Steel said.

Obviously we need the Obama Justice Department to investigate this fraud, but they're too busy investigating the people who keep us safe.

Boehner Aptly Describes 'Climate Change' Scam

You can't say you haven't been warned.

Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) had a few choice words about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) landmark climate-change bill after its passage Friday.

When asked why he read portions of the cap-and-trade bill on the floor Friday night, Boehner told The Hill, "Hey, people deserve to know what's in this pile of s--t."

Using his privilege as leader to speak for an unlimited time on the House floor, Boehner spent an hour reading from the 1200-plus page bill that was amended 20 hours before the lower chamber voted 219-212 to approve it.

Eight Republicans voted with Democrats to pass the bill; 44 House Democrats voted against it.

This is what I like from GOP leadership, some thinking outside the box. Of course moving these innocent naifs into Nancy Pelosi's district is outright rejected. She's all for shutting down Guantanamo Bay but doesn't want the terrorists in her backyard.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday shrugged off Republican suggestions that the federal government reopen Alcatraz prison in her San Francisco district to house detainees from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

President Obama this week signed an executive order calling for the closure of the prison at Guantanamo within the year. Republican Rep. Bill Young then suggested to White House counsel Greg Craig that the prisoners who could not be released back to their home countries or sent to a third country be put up in "the Rock," the famous military installation and prison that closed down in 1963 and is now part of the National Park Service.

Asked whether that was a serious proposal, Pelosi said, "It is -- no."

"Perhaps he's not visited Alcatraz," Pelosi said of Young while displaying little sense of humor. "Alcatraz is a tourist attraction. It's a prison that is now sort of like a -- it's a national park."

That explanation didn't stop House Minority Leader John Boehner from repeating the suggestion on Sunday, making that point that closing down Guantanamo by year's end may not be the best plan considering the recidivism rate of terrorist detainees is about 12 percent.

"If liberals believe they ought to go, maybe we ought to open Alcatraz," Boehner, R-Ohio, told NBC "Meet the Press." Being reminded that Alcatraz is a national park, Boehner responded, "It's very secure."

Murtha: Hey, Send the Club Gitmo Monsters to My District

The idiots keep voting for the guy, so I'm all for it.

Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Pa., says he'd be willing to house prisoners from Guantanamo Bay in his congressional district if President Obama makes good on a plan to close the U.S. prison there.

As one of his first acts in office, the president circulated a draft Wednesday that would shut down Guantanamo Bay within a year.

Murtha only has a minimum security prison in his district. But he says he'd have no reservations about holding detainees there in a maximum security prison.

"Sure, I'd take 'em," said Murtha, an outspoken critic of the Iraq war. "They're no more dangerous in my district than in Guantanamo."

Except, of course, for the fact that now makes his district a target for terrorists. Outside of that, what could go wrong?

Murtha added that there was "no reason not to put 'em in prisons in the United States and handle them the way they would handle any other prisoners."

But that idea disturbs House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio.

"Most communities around America don't want dangerous terrorists imported into their neighborhoods," Boehner said in a statement.

"The key question is where do you put these terrorists?" Boehner asked.

How about keeping them where they are?
