But alas, it was not meant to be. This week's winner of the Democratic sex scandal award is the Attorney General of Ohio. He also gets to be the first Dem involved in a home-wrecking, tawdy affair for the month of May. They had me worried, but asking the Dems to go a week without one of their high-ranking elected officials being involved in a scandal is like asking a Daily Kos diarist to vote Republican. It just ain't gonna happen.
Ohio's attorney general admitted an extramarital affair with an employee Friday, soon after three of his aides were fired or forced out after an investigation found evidence of sexual harassment and other misconduct.Of course the best part about being a Democrat is that last part: promised not to step down. Why should he? It ain't like he was in a bathroom stall in a airport or making a speech to a group and lauding the life of a conservative.
Leaders of both parties were critical of Attorney General Marc Dann, one of several Democrats swept into office in 2006 after a scandal over state investments sullied Republicans. He apologized to his wife and supporters but promised not to step down.
He appears to be a regular profile in professionalism too.
Dann's scheduler, Jessica Utovich, with whom he had a close relationship in which they often used profanity, nicknames and teasing when e-mailing each other, resigned voluntarily, said Tom Winters, first assistant attorney general. He did not give a reason. It doesn't appear that the good attorney general is a fan of Rush Limbaugh and Operation Chaos either.
"We have no intention of prosecuting Rush Limbaugh because lying through your teeth and being stupid isn't a crime," said Leo Jennings, a spokesman for Democratic Attorney General Marc Dann.Oh, and the SUV pictured above with the slogan "Sunshine Express" on it, you guessed it, belongs to the guy who managed the attorney general's fleet, Anthony Guiterrez, who is under investigation for charges of sexual harassment and, apparently, while driving it drunk, crashed into a guardrail, damaging it.
Quite a bunch of classy Democrats they got in Ohio.
