Michael Garcia of Yonkers apparently hasn't made it to far up the food chain.
YONKERS - A would-be robber was surprised when he tried to rob two people in a car and discovered they were plainclothes police officers.
Police said the two 3rd Precinct officers were on special surveillance in an unmarked car at 2 a.m. yesterday in the area of Landscape and Saratoga avenues when Michael Garcia, 19, of 144 Waverly St., Yonkers, walked up to the driver's side door and tried to open it.
Garcia then reached into the side window, grabbed the officer in the driver's seat and demanded money.
Both officers got out of the car and a violent fight erupted. Garcia struck the officers several times, but they subdued him, police said.
Hopefully not until they beat him senseless.
Garcia was charged with second-degree attempted robbery and two counts of second-degree assault, felonies. He was also charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.
