Actor Frank Vincent isn't happy that his humorous Miller Lite "protection" ads have been pulled after MillerCoors caved to complaints from the Chicago-based Italian American Human Relations Foundation. "I don't understand it. They're out of their minds," says Vincent, who played "Sopranos" mob boss Phil Leotardo. "It doesn't make much sense to me. How far do we go with this stuff?"Tolerance! Looks like another group of Chicago thugs get their way.
In one spot, an ominous-looking Vincent and his goon sidekick walk into a bar. "We're here to offer you protection," Vincent's tough says to the young bartender, who declines because of Miller Lite's "taste-protector cap" -- but points to a nervous-looking guy sitting alone at the end of the bar. "Speaking of protection, that guy down there is in the witness protection," he says. "Really?" says Vincent's character, cracking his knuckles expectantly.
Here's a web link for this crew of petty whiners. Instead of moaning about stereotypes, maybe they ought to learn how to spell.
Chicago native Joe Mantegna is the celebrity abassador for the Italian American Human Relations Foundation of Chicago.
