'The Counterterrorism System Failed'

Another shining moment for Obama on his first anniversary.
Facing heat from lawmakers, the Obama administration's top intelligence and counterterrorism officials acknowledged to Congress on Wednesday morning that there were breakdowns in the failure to prevent a Christmas Day terrorist bombing attempt aboard a U.S. jetliner.

Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair and Michael E. Leiter, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, were appearing together for the first time in public since a 23-year-old al-Qaeda operative from Nigeria allegedly tried and failed to detonate explosives aboard a Dec. 25 flight from Amsterdam to Detroit. The two men were expected to face tough questioning, particularly from Republicans, in the first of several hearings in coming days.

"The counterterrorism system failed," Leiter told the Senate homeland security committee. "We didn't do things well and we didn't do things right."
We wonder why these people, and in particular, Janet Napolitano, still have jobs?
