'Internationally Recognized Defender of the Earth'

Wow. Fawning drivel nonpareil.

Absolutely embarrassing that a media outlet would actually print this. Then again, it's as if they took the Obama template and replaced his name with that of The Goracle.
Al Gore, long mocked as an exaggerating bore, seems certain to land a lead role at the Democratic National Convention as an internationally recognized defender of the Earth.

Eight years after losing one of the closest White House elections ever, Gore is being embraced by party faithful as the Nobel Peace Prize-winning crusader against global warming, and one of the most successful failed U.S. presidential nominees in history.

While the Democratic Party has yet to announce its lineup of convention speakers, the former vice president is on an anticipated short list of headliners at the four-day gathering in Denver that opens on August 25, party aides say.

"He'll receive a tremendous reception," said Democratic Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa, a convention delegate.

"A lot of us still feel he was cheated" in the 2000 vote, Harkin said. "If he'd been president, we wouldn't have had these (Bush administration) messes the past eight years."

"Also, we admire his tenacity in protecting the environment. Many share his vision on what needs to be done," Harkin said.

In traveling the world to warn against the threat of climate change, Gore, 60, routinely draws packed crowds and has earned rock-star status among young supporters.
Good grief, did Gore author this himself?

It gets worse.
"He's charismatic. He's a strong orator. He has a presence that draws you in," George Chipev, a 20-year-old Georgetown University student, said afterward in listing attributes that even Gore backers admit he lacked in his White House bid.

Added Beth Camphouse, 21, a student at James Madison University: "Al Gore is one of the few public figures challenging my generation to do anything. He's inspirational."
What planet are these people living on?
"You've got to give Al Gore credit," said Shirley Anne Warshaw of the Center for the Study of the Presidency. "He became a star by rising above politics with his passion for the environment. He's now international leader on an issue more and more people care about. There has been no more successful defeated presidential candidate."

Memo to Goracle: It's Now Safe To Have Some 'T' on Your BLT

One of the more absurd statements from the bloated former Vice President when he was endorsing The Messiah Monday night was that because of election outcomes America could no longer enjoy tomatoes on their bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches (watch around the 1:00 mark). Judging by Algore's immense girth, the brief salmonella outbreak affecting tomatoes was a hardship on him, although it probably just allowed him room for more bacon.

Gore also blamed tainted Chinese products on George W. Bush, an outlandish claim coming from a guy who was in an administration up to their necks in ChiCom cash, but I digress.

Anyway, our long national nightmare is over, as tomatoes are going back on fast food menus. Gore, as always, has impeccable timing.
Restaurant companies are rolling tomatoes back into their stores, as health officials investigate an outbreak of salmonella cases, including nine in the Chicago area.

The Food and Drug Administration has linked the outbreak that sickened 277 people across the country to a crop of tomatoes. Restaurant chains had pulled tomatoes from their sandwich topping offerings.

McDonald's Corp. began bringing sliced tomatoes back Tuesday, said Bill Whitman, spokesman for the Oak Brook-based hamburger chain's U.S. operations. None of the McDonald's restaurants were connected to the illnesses, he said.
In other Goracle news, the hypocrisy continues to astound, as the energy consumption for his mansion increased by 10% last year (H/T Hot Air).
NASHVILLE - In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President’s home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

“A man’s commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home,” said Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. “Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption.”

In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month.

In February 2007, An Inconvenient Truth, a film based on a climate change speech developed by Gore, won an Academy Award for best documentary feature. The next day, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research uncovered that Gore’s Nashville home guzzled 20 times more electricity than the average American household.
Big Al gets a rotten tomato for his egregious consumption.

Actually, I welcome this buffoon endorsing Obama. Considering his robust endorsements of Howard Dean and John Kerry in 2004, I'd say his recent track record has proved very successful.

For Republicans.

Perhaps if Gore acted in a more dignified manner befitting his former office his endorsements would have more weight.

The Goracle: Global Warming 'Deniers' are Flat Earthers

Despite mounting evidence contrary to his hysterical proclamations, bloated former politician Al Gore, he of the massive carbon footprint and $30,000 utility bills, is still clinging to his discredited theory of global warming.

Now this embittered clown has the temerity to give an interview to 60 Minutes where he declares those who don't buy his nonsense are akin to those who believe the earth is flat and don't believe man landed on the moon in 1969.
Self-avowed "P.R. agent for the planet" Al Gore says those who still doubt that global warming is caused by man - among them, Vice President Dick Cheney - are acting like the fringe groups who think the 1969 moon landing never really happened, or who once believed the world is flat.

The former vice president and former presidential candidate talks to 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl in an interview to be broadcast this Sunday, March 30, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Confronted by Stahl with the fact some prominent people, including the nation’s vice president, are not convinced that global warming is manmade, Gore responds: "You're talking about Dick Cheney. I think that those people are in such a tiny, tiny minority now with their point of view, they’re almost like the ones who still believe that the moon landing was staged in a movie lot in Arizona and those who believe the world is flat,” says Gore. "That demeans them a little bit, but it's not that far off," he tells Stahl.
What a pious, smug, condescending prick.

The reason people don't believe you is that you have no proven scientific evidence to back up your wild claims. This guy lives in a fantasy world of his own and has become very wealthy peddling misinformation.

Wrecked Cruise Ship Owner Goracle Acolyte

Curious how we didn't get any of this information when this cruise ship wrecked, huh?

Rush Limbaugh led off his program with this today and it's just too funny.

Al Gore buddy owner of sunken ship that left huge carbon footprint on Antarctic Ocean floor
You’d never read this in the mainstream media: The owner of MS Explorer that sank, leaving a huge carbon footprint at the bottom of the Antarctic Ocean Friday is an acolyte of teensy-weensy carbon footprint crusader Al Gore.

G.A.P. Adventures CEO and Explorer owner, Bruce Poon Tip and Gore have similar ideals, “filling their schedules with speaking engagements on environmental change to educate global audiences.” And that’s straight off of www.gapadventures.com. In fact, as recently as last April, both Poon Tip and Gore gave presentations at the Green Living Show in Toronto.

“I expressed my admiration for Mr. Gore’s commitment and leadership which spans more than 20 years,” commented Poon Tip. “I also invited him aboard our legendary polar expedition ship, the MS Explorer to visit the Arctic.”

The legendary polar expedition ship…”had at least five faults at its last inspection,” according to Greenpeace spokeswoman Bunny McDiarmid. “Maritime records show the MV Explorer has completed more than 40 cruises to the ice, but has lately been suffering maintenance and safety problems.”

Maintenance and safety problems never kept the MS Explorer from setting out for the Antarctica two weeks ago.

Good thing Gore was otherwise occupied when 154 passengers and crew had to be rescued at sea when their eco-cruise ship struck ice in the Antarctic Ocean and started to sink early Friday morning. (None of the eco warriors aboard MS Explorer were identified in weekend media coverage).
Here's The Goracle with his buddy.

The story continues.
As the Los Angeles Times described it: “The first cruise ship built to ply the frigid waters of Antarctica became the first to sink there Friday. The red-hulled Explorer struck ice, taking water as 154 passengers and crew members scrambled to safety aboard lifeboats and rafts. The ship later went to the bottom.”

According to one blogger who plans an Antarctica trip, “apparently, most (Explorer passengers) did not have wallets or passports with them,” adding in a Note to Self: “Wear identification belt at all times.”

Passengers and crew were taken to a Chilean military base on King George Island, the largest of the South Shetland Islands, from which they were flown home yesterday.

Meanwhile, Greenpeace believes tourism in Antarctica should be strictly limited because of the fate of MS Explorer, but the silence is deafening from Poon Tip and Gore about the huge carbon footprint left on the ocean floor.
Nobody ever accused these folks of being too bright, and apparently they're too stupid to carry ID.

Idiots.

Gore, the man who never shuts up, was unavailable for comment over this latest moral crisis.

Global Warming Ruining Fall Foliage: Leaf Peepers Fret

It's come to this.

Some folks are just perpetually miserable.
EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. — Every fall, Marilyn Krom tries to make a trip to Vermont to see its famously beautiful fall foliage.

This year, she noticed something different about the autumn leaves.

"They're duller, not as sparkly, if you know what I mean," Krom, 62, a registered nurse from Eastford, Conn., said during a recent visit. "They're less vivid."

Other "leaf peepers" are noticing, too, and some believe climate change could be global warming.

Forested hillsides usually riotous with reds, oranges and yellows have shown their colors only grudgingly in recent years, with many trees going straight from the dull green of late summer to the rust-brown of late fall with barely a stop at a brighter hue.

"It's nothing like it used to be," said University of Vermont plant biologist Tom Vogelmann, a Vermont native.

He says autumn has become too warm to elicit New England's richest colors.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in Burlington have run above the 30-year averages in every September and October for the past four years, save for October 2004, when they were 0.2 degrees below average.
How, pray tell, is this affecting the peepers?
"Leaf peeping" is big business in Vermont, with some 3.4 million visitors spending nearly $364 million in the fall of 2005, according to state estimates.

State tourism officials reject the notion that nature's palette is getting blander. Erica Housekeeper, spokeswoman for the state Department of Tourism and Marketing, said she had heard nothing but positive reports from foresters and visitors alike this year.
This nitwit suggests we should have listened to The Goracle.

But of course.
Which brings us to Al Gore, a guy who nearly became president (and we would have had a hawk for a vice president either way). He goes a little far making his point about global warming in "An Inconvenient Truth" because NO ONE WAS LISTENING.

I think proof of that might be 25 years of wars for oil, SUVs the size of houses and almost no federal support of conservation or alternative energy.

But then Big Boring Al, who arguably shook that label with this film, won the Nobel Peace Prize. And yet the forces of partisanship can't agree on an honor for the town-crier Democrat.

Kos Kid Makes Rational Plea to Goracle

One can envision a monkey pounding on a keyboard composing a more lucid diary.

Then again, we are dealing with Kos Kidz here.

They're deleting our fucking planet, Gore!
Lookit here, Al Gore; it's time to decide whether the planet fries or not.
And there is only one person who keep can it cool and that's you.

A new Canadian study suggests more drastic measures needed to reduce/stabilize global warming: a 90% reduction in greenhouse emissions by 2050.

...

Who's gonna take on the denyers when push comes to shove, Gore? Who's gonna push the polluters? who's gonna lead from the high moral ground? Who's gonna do it, Al?

An Australian study suggests that Sydney is likely to dry up and blow away.

...

It's all about power, Mr. Gore. And while you certainly have some in your present capacity, it ain't squat compared to the transnational corporations in this new world of buying and selling congresscritters and the economic clout of China and India.

The president of the United States is the ONLY person on the planet who can save it. If that isn't you in 2009, what are you going to say to your grandkids? "I liked my life the way it was?"

They''re deleting our fucking planet, Gore !!
He'll probably wish he deleted this post.

Anyway, I think the man who shall save the planet is a bit busy, off in a fuel-guzzling plane to pick up another sham award, which, of course, we knew would happen.

UPDATE: The kook changed the title to "They're deleting our f**king planet, Gore! "

Definitely a bit more nuanced.

Meanwhile, I noticed the inmates are warming to Ron Paul, as I suspected they would. Especially since the Paulians seem to have so much in common with them. But can someone explain to me how the Paul nuts haven't spammed this poll yet?

Goracle: "Polluters" Manipulate Information

Washed-up scaremonger Al Gore, coming out of hiding after his Live Earth event drew 1,981,000,000 fewer people than predicted and tending to his drug-addled son, is over in Singapore making up his own facts once again and suffering from a major case of projection.

Gore: Polluters manipulate climate info
SINGAPORE - Research aimed at disputing the scientific consensus on global warming is part of a huge public misinformation campaign funded by some of the world's largest carbon polluters, former Vice President Al Gore said Tuesday.
Misinformation? Such as what, that the polar ice caps are melting? That we're facing a "crisis" greater than, say, nuclear terrorism because the earth's temperature has gone up half a degree the past 120 years?
"There has been an organized campaign, financed to the tune of about $10 million a year from some of the largest carbon polluters, to create the impression that there is disagreement in the scientific community," Gore said at a forum in Singapore. "In actuality, there is very little disagreement."
And where is the evidence of this? Oh, you don't have any?
"This is one of the strongest of scientific consensus views in the history of science," Gore said. "We live in a world where what used to be called propaganda now has a major role to play in shaping public opinion."
So questioning his propaganda is now considered "propaganda" by this moron.
After the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, made up of the world's top climate scientists, released a report in February that warned that the cause of global warming is "very likely" man-made, "the deniers offered a bounty of $10,000 for each article disputing the consensus that people could crank out and get published somewhere," Gore said.

"They're trying to manipulate opinion and they are taking us for fools," he said.
You know, I'm getting tired of people impugning fools. What have I done to deserve such scorn?

Anyway, the thought that some mythical $10 million campaign could compete with the daily onslaught of global warming nonsense churned out by the left is just ridiculous, and Gore knows it.

He's clearly becoming more alarmist the more he's ignored and it won't be long until he goes into a full meltdown, no pun intended.

Speaking of manipulation, judging by these photos, Gore may need to manipulate a scale to get it to read under 300 pounds.

Meanwhile, there's going to be a huge price to pay for all the hysteria.

Climate bill shaves $533 bln off economy
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Senate bill to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions would raise energy prices and also reduce American economic output by more than half a trillion dollars over two decades, according to a government report released on Monday.

Congress is expected to consider climate legislation this fall that would fight global warming. Many businesses worry the U.S. economy would suffer under a measure to impose tough mandatory cuts in emissions.
Wonderful. Let's wreck the economy on behalf of junk science.

Spawn of Goracle Cops Guilty Plea

Man, it must be great to be a spoiled child of privilege.

Any one of us who were careening down I-5 in a mobile pharmacy, stoned out of our mind at 2 am, would probably be looking at serious jail time.

But I guess when you're the offspring of the mysteriously quiet Algore, you can do as you please and get a cushy spot in a celebrity rehab joint in Malibu.

Al Gore III sentenced to drug program this morning
LAGUNA NIGUEL – Albert Gore III, the son of former Vice President Al Gore Jr., pleaded guilty in Orange County Superior Court this morning to unlawful possession of prescription drugs and marijuana, and was allowed to enter a drug diversion program.

If Gore successfully completes a 90-day residential drug program in Malibu his convictions will be stricken from his record.

Defense attorney Al Stokke said Gore, 24, received no more or no less than anybody else charged with similar crimes.
Bulls**t. If you had several priors, then were caught with no less than five different kinds of drugs while doing 100 mph in a Prius, you'd be facing time, even if it's a meager few weeks, Paris Hilton-style.

This punk no doubt was forced by his family to get this out of the way, not that the media wasn't complying by dropping this story from the radar as quickly as possible.

Being a Democrat always has its privileges. A 90-day stretch in Malibu, and then this offense vanishes from history.

Hat tip: Radical Ron.

Spawn of Goracle Charged With Drug Possession

Another inconvenient truth. Next thing you know, The Goracle and Tipper will be lecturing us about drug abuse.

Gore's son charged with drug possession
LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. - Al Gore's son was charged Friday with possessing marijuana and other drugs that authorities say were discovered in his car after he was pulled over this month for speeding.

Al Gore III, 24, is free on $20,000 bail and scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 1 in Superior Court in Laguna Niguel.

He faces two felony counts of drug possession, two misdemeanor counts of drug possession without a prescription and one misdemeanor count of marijuana possession, the district attorney's office said in a statement. Gore also was charged with a traffic infraction for allegedly driving faster than 100 miles per hour.

Prosecutors said he could be sentenced to a maximum of three years and eight months in prison if convicted on all counts, though he might be eligible for a drug treatment program instead of prison.

Kalee Kreider, a spokeswoman for Gore's parents, said the family had no comment.

The charges stem from July 4, when Orange County sheriff's deputies say they pulled Gore over for speeding.

Gore was allegedly driving a 2006 blue Toyota Prius at about 100 mph. Upon searching the car, deputies say they discovered less than an ounce of marijuana and a variety of medications — including Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall. Authorities said Gore did not have a prescription for any of those medications.
I still can't figure how he got a hunk of junk like a Prius to go 100 mph.

Nonetheless, don't expect this spoiled punk to ever do a minute of jailtime. He's the son of an elitist leftist, and they have special privileges.

Insensitive Goracle Offends Humane Society

I guess now that Live Earth was a total bomb, the Goracle can go back to his usual slothful ways, wrecking the environment, consuming colossal amounts of energy in his mansions, jetting around the globe and now consuming endangered species.

The inconvenient truths just keep mounting.

Gore's message loses bite
ONLY one week after Live Earth, Al Gore's green credentials slipped while hosting his daughter's wedding in Beverly Hills.

Gore and his guests at the weekend ceremony dined on Chilean sea bass - arguably one of the world's most threatened fish species.

Also known as Patagonian toothfish, the species is under pressure from illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing activities in the Southern Ocean, jeopardising the sustainability of remaining stocks.

The species is currently managed by the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Living Marine Resources, the body which introduced a catch and trade documentation scheme as an attempt to tackle illegal poaching of this species.

Working with non-government organisations, the Humane Society International's focus is now on pursuit of illegal fishing operators who, in the rush to cash in on the highly valued species, plunder stocks with no regard for sustainability.
For shame, fatboy, for shame.

C'mon, lecture me some more on how to live my life.

Wooden Indian Praises Indians

So much for Live Earth being nonpolitical. This bloated oaf just can't help but take a swipe at those who dare question his idiocy. As an aside, he really needs to mix in a few salads.

Former US vice president Al Gore took a swipe at global warming doubters Saturday as he opened the Washington leg of the worldwide Live Earth concerts that he helped organize.

Washington was a last-minute addition to the global event months after organizers failed to find a space on the US capital's National Mall, a sprawling green space featuring monuments including the Congress building.

Other events had reportedly already booked spaces for the same day on the Mall, while a subsequent bid by some lawmakers to bring the show to the doorsteps of the US Capitol was blocked by some Republican lawmakers.

But the National Museum of the American Indian finally offered its venue on the Mall for the show, which featured the Native American band Blues Nation and an acoustic performance from country music stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood.

"Some who don't understand what is now at stake tried to stop this event on the Mall," the former Democratic presidential candidate said in a thinly veiled hit on members of President George W. Bush's Republican party.

"But here we are," he said as an image of a bright Earth shined behind him. "And it wasn't the cavalry who came to our rescue, it was the American Indian."

A few hundred spectators turned out for the concert, which began at 10:30 am (1430 GMT).
Wow, what a turnout.

Goracle Claims Son's Drug Bust 'Private'

No doubt the blockheaded blowhard would like everyone to ignore the fact his son is a public menace, even though he was driving an allegedly environmentally-friendly piece of junk like the Prius.

Still, I'd be remiss if I didn't remind the Keeper of the Planet that when the Spawn of Goracle is careening down I-5 in a mobile pharmacy, it's everyone's business, especially law enforcement.

Gore: Son's pot bust 'private'
NEW YORK -- Former Vice President Al Gore said today he's glad his son is safe and getting treatment a day after the 24-year-old was arrested in California on suspicion of illegally possessing marijuana and prescription drugs.

"We love him very much," Gore told NBC's Today show, adding, "We are going to leave it as a private matter."
Well, I'm not. Maybe when your son was getting in trouble with the law as a minor back in the days before blogs, you had a willingly compliant media always willing to sweep it under the rug. Those days are over. You, your family and your son clearly have larger issues to deal with, and wouldn't it be perhaps a better idea that you spent time with them rather than traipsing around the globe preaching endless doom and gloom while inflating your ego, wallet and waistline?

Some trans-fat-free food for thought.
Gore, who appeared on NBC to publicize this weekend's Live Earth concerts, also briefly discussed politics.

He called President Bush's decision to commute the perjury and obstruction of justice sentence of former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby "disappointing" and reiterated that he has no plans to run for president, saying: "I don't expect to be a candidate again ever."

"I've kind of fallen out of love with politics," Gore said. He said the best use of his experience is to bring awareness and a sense of urgency to the issue of climate change.
Sure. I see his emotional grief hasn't diluted his ability to parse words in mealy-mouthed fashion.
Gore laughed when asked if he was ready to endorse a candidate for president. He said his evaluation would be based on what each decides to do about climate change.

"Some of them have made good, positive statements, but it's still treated as a side issue. I will predict for you that within the next 500 days that this issue will be the Number One issue on the agenda," he said.
It may be his Number One issue, but the rest of us have larger priorities, like staving off Islamofascist terrorists who want to murder us all.

It speaks volumes of a man who sat by as Vice President and did nothing to fight terrorism while pushing an environmental hoax on children and gullible adults.

UPDATE: Fishwrap links, with other assorted reaction as well.

Seemingly, the overwhelming response to this story is the revelation the Prius can get it up to 100 mph.
