Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez sought to end a diplomatic stand-off with the United States on Tuesday by suggesting it name Bill Clinton, actor Sean Penn or director Oliver Stone as its envoy to Caracas.

In the latest flare-up between the ideological foes, Washington withdrew the visa of Venezuela's ambassador last week in retaliation for Chavez's rejection of President Barack Obama's nominated ambassador to Caracas.

U.S. diplomat Larry Palmer had criticized Venezuela's government, saying morale in its military was low and there were clear ties between members of the Chavez administration and leftist rebels in neighboring Colombia.

In a televised speech late on Tuesday, Venezuela's firebrand president said he had come up with a solution.

"I hope they name Oliver Stone. I'll suggest a candidate ... Sean Penn, or (linguist and philosopher Noam) Chomsky. We have a lot of friends there. Bill Clinton!" Chavez said.

Stone visited Caracas in May for the local premiere of his documentary "South of the Border," which profiles Latin America's leftist leaders. He told reporters he admired Chavez and his record since coming to power in 1999.

Penn, who has been involved in humanitarian efforts following Haiti's earthquake, won best actor Oscars for his roles in the Clint Eastwood-directed drama "Mystic River" and as slain gay activist Harvey Milk in the movie "Milk."

Chavez also recounted how he met U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton briefly on the sidelines of Dilma Rousseff's inauguration ceremony on Saturday in Brazil.

"I said to Senora Clinton 'How is your husband?'" he said. "But I made a mistake because I speak very bad English, and I said 'How is your wife?' She laughed, then I said husband."

What a card that Hugo is, slipping in a little lesbian humor. No word if Huma Abedin was present.

The darling of the left, Oliver Stone, has apologized for his latest
anti-Semitic rant.

Filmmaker Oliver Stone apologized for remarks about the Holocaust and Jewish media influence that were criticized as being anti-Semitic.

“In trying to make a broader historical point about the range of atrocities the Germans committed against many people, I made a clumsy association about the Holocaust, for which I am sorry and I regret,” Stone said today in a statement released by his publicist, Rubenstein Communications.

The apology followed comments Stone made to the Sunday Times of London. In an interview promoting a new documentary, Stone also discussed a project in the works, “Secret History of America.” He told the Times “Hitler was a Frankenstein, but there was also a Dr. Frankenstein. German Industrialists, the Americans and the British. He had a lot of support. Hitler did far more damage to the Russians than the Jewish people.”

Stone also discussed in the article what he called “Jewish domination of the media,” and said Israel “f***** up United States foreign policy for years.

Oliver Stone, a strong supporter of Hugo Chavez and who thinks Joe Stalin was misunderstood, made his latest whacked-out comments while promoting his new documentary that tries to rationalize Hitler's atrocities.

I'm also wondering when the left will say "enough already" with this guy and tell him to take a hike. Probably about the same time that flying pigs divebomb your car on the expressway.

I've noticed a disturbing tolerance on the left these days for nut jobs like Stone. It seems like you can get away with any kind of racist hate filled speech these days as long as you are on the left side of the political spectrum.

Best chuckle in the second clip comes about five minutes in when Stone says Obama is ethical and rational. Ventura is impressed by Obama because he can read a TelePrompter. Then it descends into name-calling from Ventura. Classy.

Great News: Oliver Stone's Hugo Chavez Flick Coming to America

With any luck it'll draw less than Uma Thurman's new flick, if that's actually possible. Though we should never underestimate the stupidity of the American left, and the lemmings will likely line up to see one of their heroes on the big screen.

But now, Americans will have the chance to decide for themselves what to make of the 70-minute documentary, thanks to the efforts of Cinema Libre. On June 25, the distributor will release South of the Border in New York, followed quickly by an L.A. premiere on July 2. “Not only is it a genuine honor to work with one of the greatest American directors, but his insightful documentary shows how these leaders of Latin America are being intentionally villanized by the U.S. mass media,” Cinema Libre’s Philippe Diaz told Reuters. “This unique dialogue needed the eye and the courage of a director like Stone to convince us that these leaders are fighting for a more humane society, which means defending themselves against American corporate interests.”

Stone undertook this project with Chávez after his initial idea to document Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was turned down by the Iranian president. For South of the Border, Stone enlisted the help of British-Pakistani commentator Tariq Ali, who had already worked with Chávez to write the 2006 book Pirates of the Caribbean: Axis of Hope.

How bad is this drivel? According to Time:

South of the Border is a near sibling to the Michael Moore docu-comedy Capitalism: A Love Story, which premiered at Venice last night and which looks like a masterpiece of attitudinal moviemaking next to Stone's slapdash effort.

No doubt it'll win plenty of awards from the Chavez sycophants in Hollywood.

We can't judge people as only bad or good. [Hitler] is the product of a series of actions . . . People in America don't know the connection between WWI and WWII." Boteach countered, "Hitler was evil incarnate, an insatiable, bloodthirsty monster. Stone should be ashamed of himself." The Anti-Defamation League's Abe Foxman said, "This is Oliver Stone doing Oliver Stone, which is to put everything on its head to make an impact and to make money."

Oh brother, here we go. Serial fantasist Oliver Stone is now going to tell the "real story" behind the great mass murderers of the 20th Century. Why do I have the sneaking suspicion America is going to be blamed for their actions?

Director Oliver Stone's upcoming Showtime documentary miniseries "Secret History of America" promises to put mass murderers such as Stalin and Hitler "in context."

"Stalin, Hitler, Mao, McCarthy -- these people have been vilified pretty thoroughly by history," Stone told reporters at the Television Critics Association's semi-annual press tour in Pasadena.

Geez, I know Tailgunner Joe is the great bogeyman to the hard left, but c'mon, Stalin, Hitler, Mao and McCarthy?

"Stalin has a complete other story," Stone said. "Not to paint him as a hero, but to tell a more factual representation. He fought the German war machine more than any single person. We can't judge people as only 'bad' or 'good.' Hitler is an easy scapegoat throughout history and its been used cheaply. He's the product of a series of actions. It's cause and effect ... People in America don't know the connection between WWI and WWII ... I've been able to walk in Stalin's shoes and Hitler's shoes to understand their point of view. We're going to educate our minds and liberalize them and broaden them. We want to move beyond opinions ... Go into the funding of the Nazi party. How many American corporations were involved, from GM through IBM. Hitler is just a man who could have easily been assassinated."

Great, just what we need: to be educated and liberalized by this crackpot, a man who fancies himself some sort of time traveler now that he's walked in the shoes of Hitler.

"Obviously, Rush Limbaugh is not going to like this history and, as usual, we're going to get those kind of ignorant attacks," said Stone, who also also compared the experience of sympathizing with war criminals to making his "W" movie about George W. Bush. "I'm trying to understand somebody I thoroughly despised."

In one breath he claims Hitler has "been used cheaply" then in the next compares Bush with him. But the ignorant Limbaugh won't like this version of "history" from Stone.

U.S. director Oliver Stone fears his documentary about Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, a fierce critic of American foreign policy, will struggle to find a distributor at home.

"South of the Border," which had its world premiere at the Venice film festival this week, portrays Chavez as a champion of the poor, and includes interviews with the leaders of Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay, Ecuador and Cuba.

He focuses on how a generation of leftist leaders is seeking increasing independence from the International Monetary Fund and, by extension, U.S. economic policy, which Stone criticizes in the movie.

South of the Border also seeks to demonstrate how Chavez has been unfairly demonized by the U.S. media which has cast him as a dangerous maverick who is a threat to security.

Stone, 62, told Reuters in an interview that he anticipated a struggle getting the movie to a U.S. audience, noting how previous films made about Central or South America had shared the same fate.

"'Salvador' with Jimmy Woods had a hard distribution path in America and 'Comandante' with Mr. (Fidel) Castro was taken off the air two weeks before it was going to be on cable, HBO," he said in a joint interview with Chavez late on Monday.

"'Looking for Fidel' was shown, but limited. It's always a problem and this is not just me.

"Most films that deal honestly with south of the border issues run into this logjam. It's an American complex about the back yard, the south, it's been going on for a century."

Stone wouldn't know honesty if it crashed on his head. Like most Hollywood elites his smug condescension and hatred for his country blinds him to the obvious: He's far out of the mainstream and people just don't care to pay money to be insulted. Sure, he'll be able to find an audience in America-hating hot spots like Berkeley, Ann Arbor and the White House, but good luck beyond that.

Chavez Hits the Red Carpet, Blows Kisses To Obama

So nice to see another of the Hollywood elite kissing the fat tush of Venezuelan thug Hugo Chavez.

Hugo Chavez stole the show at the Venice Film Festival, where he walked the red carpet with director Oliver Stone for the premiere of the documentary "South of the Border."

Hundreds of admirers, some chanting "president, president," gathered outside of the for the leader's arrival. A few held up Venezuelan flags and a banner in Spanish that read "Welcome, president."

Chavez threw a flower into the crowd and touched his heart, and at one point took a photographer's camera to snap a picture himself. Security outside the Casino was tightened in advance of his arrival with military police checking bags

The leftist leader is getting a chance to hob-knob with the Hollywood elite as the central focus of Stone's film "South of the Border" — a look at what Stone calls the "truth" about Chavez's role in the sweeping changes in South America.

Chavez has been an outspoken critic of U.S. policy and often made headlines for likening President George W. Bush to the devil. The film, which is a series of interviews and clips from U.S. media reports, tells the story of Venezuela's so-called "peaceful revolution" since Chavez came to power in 1998. Chavez is portrayed as a hero of the people who refuses to be bullied, Reuters reported.

Stone says the U.S. media — including FOX News — and the government have demonized Chavez and other leftist South American leaders.

"You can't get a fair hearing for Chavez. It's an outrageous caricature they've drawn of him in the Western press," said Stone told Variety.

Yes, such a pity he hasn't been able to shut down our media as he's largely done to any opposition media in Venezuela. I guess Stone will do a sequel covering that.

Meanwhile, Stone's new buddy gushed about Barack Obama, short one Communist buddy since Van Jones departed in the dark of night over the weekend. Maybe the two can pal around and have a beer at the White House.

"With Obama we can talk, we are almost from the same generation, one can't deny that Obama is different (from Bush). He's intelligent, he has good intentions and we have to help him."

Stone's Bush Bash Flick Tanks

What a shocker. Another anti-Bush flick bombs at the box office. Nothing like a "biographical" film about a president while he's still in office.

There's been tremdous [sic] interest by the public in the box office fate of Oliver Stone's W. for its second weekend in release. Well, it ran out of steam. QED International/Lionsgate's Bush biopic sank 58% to No. 8 with $1.5 million Friday from 2,050 dates for what will probably be a $5.2M weekend. The $30M negative cost film should end up with $23M domestic box office gross by the end of its North American run. That means, with a $25M P&A investment and Lionsgate's distribution fees, the film won't recoup.

I wonder how Stone's ChiCom investors feel?

'George Bush Is An Intellectual Compared To Her'

Not a single day can go by without the ritual Palin bashing. Of course this comes from one of those intellectual titans in Hollywood, naturally.

The red carpet was rolled out Tuesday night for the blue state premiere of Oliver Stone's "W." - the controversial biopic of President Bush.

Two big-name politicos - John McCain and Sarah Palin - declined a personal invite from the director, even though they're staying right across the street from the Ziegfeld Theatre at the Hilton.

Stone said he extended invites to the Republican presidential and vice presidential nominees yesterday morning - but they opted for a fund-raiser instead.

That was just fine with the Bush-bashing director, who seems to despise Palin even more.

"I don't think Sarah would understand the picture," Stone said on the red carpet outside the famed W. 54th St. theater.

"It has a lot of complicated dialogue," he zinged.

"George Bush is an intellectual compared to her."

Stone insists "W." is not an attack on the commander in chief.

"It's very fair. It's based on a lot of research. It was not done with malice," Stone said.

Some of the flick's stars actually think that Stone, who also directed "JFK" and "Nixon," wasn't hard enough on Bush.

"It isn't Bush bashing, but it should be," said Richard Dreyfuss, who portrays Vice President Cheney. "He will have a long and healthy life and hopefully spend most of it in depositions. Hopefully, history will be unforgiving."

These are very ugly people.

Shocking, isn't it, that McCain and Palin turned down invitations? I'm sure they'd have been treated kindly.

They'll have the last laugh when this movie tanks at the box office.

Drunken 'Bush' Arrested

No doubt Oliver Stone will conjure up some conspiracy out of this.

Actor Josh Brolin, in Shreveport starring in director-producer Oliver Stone’s “W.,” was arrested early today during a bar fight at a downtown Shreveport nightspot.

According to Shreveport Police patrol report, officers were called to the Stray Cat bar in the 200 block of Travis Street just after 2 a.m. to deal with a rowdy patron.

As more officers arrived, several other patrons at the bar, including Brolin and fellow actor Jeffrey Wright, 42, tried to impede the officers, the report said. In all, the report named 10 officers called to the ruckus.

Brolin, Wright and four other people were charged with interfering with police, a misdemeanor. Brolin was booked into the city jail, and posted $334 cash bond to be released.

Detective Rod Demery, working as Shreveport Police Department public information officer over the weekend, said sending officers to handle unruly bar patrons isn’t unusual.

“It’s a common call we receive quite often,” he said. And as for celebrity of the patrons involved, “it doesn’t play any role in decision making.”

Arrested on the same charge as Brolin, 40, of Los Angeles, and Wright, 42, of who plays General Colin Powell in “W.,” were Evan C. Bates, 26, of Torrance, Calif.; Cherilyn Young, 36, of Austin, Texas; Amy Draughn, 33; and Ismael Martinez, 28, of El Paso, Texas. Bates, Martinez and Young also were booked into the city jail with bonds also set at $334 each.

Future Bomb: Oliver Stone to Make Bush Film

These people never learn. Other than some diehard BDS sufferers, who in their right mind is going to pay to see an Oliver Stone depiction of George W. Bush? Fair or not, the president suffers from low poll numbers and we've heard for some time that America suffers from Bush fatigue, so it's curious why any studio would greenlight such a project and begin filming while he's still in office.

Hollywood apparently has learned nothing with the seemingly endless string of antiwar flicks bombing, so now we'll get the moonbat look at Bush. One can only imagine how Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and the nefarious cabal of neocons will be portrayed.

Bush has been the most scrutinized president in modern times thanks to the explosion of the blogosphere, so it's not as if Stone would be able to shed any new light on his life or presidency. You can be sure, however, he will be taking creative license.

Shreveport has lured another major feature film production.

"W." is in preproduction and will begin shooting April 21 and likely wrap June 20, according to Louisiana's Office of Entertainment Industry Development.

"W." will star Josh Brolin as President George W. Bush and will be directed by Oliver Stone, according to the Internet Movie Database.

Brolin earned acclaim in 2007 for his roles in "No Country for Old Men," "In the Valley of Elah" and "American Gangster."

Stone, a Hollywood icon, directed "Platoon," "Nixon," "JFK," "Wall Street," "World Trade Center" and "Alexander."

In January, Stone spoke about the project to Daily Variety.

"It's a behind-the-scenes approach, similar to 'Nixon,' to give a sense of what it's like to be in his skin," he told the trade publication. "But if 'Nixon' was a symphony, this is more like a chamber piece and not as dark in tone."

You had to figure were the Iranian psychopath, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, allowed down at Ground Zero, he was probably planning an after-party in Tribeca to celebrate his propaganda victory with adoring fans such as Michael Moore and the Loose Change morons.

Well, those plans are on hold, but he's still making the media rounds and reaching out to one of Hollywood's most useful idiots.

Iran extends hand to Hollywood legend

Iran has invited American director Oliver Stone to visit the country to discuss production of his documentary about President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad after initially rejecting the project.

Ahmadinejad's cultural adviser has suggested the Oscar-winning director visit Iran to see the different aspects of the country for himself, the Iranian Students News Agency reported yesterday.

"What they present from Iran and its culture in Western countries is far away from the reality and it will be interesting for Stone to see the reality with his own eyes and get to know Iran's beauties and its kind nation," said the cultural adviser.

The move comes after Ahmadinejad in July branded the director "part of the Great Satan" - a term coined by Ayatollah Khomeini for the US after the 1979 Revolution - and rejected a request to make the film, despite Stone's film credentials which include documentaries about Fidel Castro and the Israeli-Palestine conflict.

However the Iranian president changed his mind last month saying he had no objection to Stone making the film about him as long as he is informed of the film's "frameworks".

Ahmadinejad adviser Javan Shamghadri had earlier said Stone's request could be reconsidered if Iranian filmmakers were given the right to make an unimpeded documentary about US president George Bush and the CIA, according to reports.

Whatever these Iranians put out couldn't be any worse than the dreck Stone, Moore et al. offer to the great unwashed.
