Sorry Sarah, But I Need Our Relationship To Move To The Next Level

I am in 100% agreement with Laura and Ann on this matter. These are serious times and most Americans are looking for a serious candidate to be our next president. I recall a while back having some little Twitter discussions about Sarah Palins viability as a candidate, and even back then I expressed my reservations about here actually being able to bring something to the table. I think her role now is best described as a conservative activist who can highlight the issues and prod politicians on both sides to present their ideas for problems that she spotlights, and in that regard I feel like she is more in touch with heartland Americans then most politicians, but that does not mean I consider her presidential material.

The biggest problem with writing about Sarah is that her defenders will immediately leap to her defense and her detractors will quickly point to how even conservatives are deserting her. Just to be clear, nobody is deserting anybody here, it is just I don't feel she is ready for the highest office in the land right now. It will be important for the other candidates to listen to her and her followers, since their allegiance is second only to the Paulians.

Look maybe it is just because I am a guy and don't like getting strung along very long in my relationships. Love you Sarah, mean it, but I need to move on. I would hope that very soon she would make it clear, just like Governor Christie has done, that she is not running and channel all that energy and all those followers into something productive to help Republicans elect a qualified person to the White House who can not only go about reversing the damage done by the current SCOAMF, but getting the ship on the right path once again. I am not even sure how much of a role I want her to play during the primaries in regards to endorsing one candidate over another. In that regard she holds a unique position within conservative circles. I tend to ignore endorsements during primaries anyway since everybody gets them and being the independent sort of cuss that I am I ain't impressed. Let her get behind whoever comes out of the primary, but in the meantime I would ask for her not to suck anymore oxygen out of the room so that the declared candidates can get their message out. Being the center of media attention is not Sarah's fault, it is the media's fault. They are the one's with the obsession, which borders on unhealthy at times.

It takes quite a lot of effort, time, and space to turn an aircraft carrier around in the open waters and it will be the same with our country.

Look on the bright side folks. On the conservative side we have Laura, Ann, and Sarah and the liberals have Debbie Wasshername Schultz, Grandma Nancy, and Mouthy Maxine. I certainly know who I want trying to get my attention.

Liberals Trying To Force the Palin's Into Witness Protection

I came across this video, which I will not embed due to the fact that I don't think it deserves to be spread, which was a compilation of death wishes posted on Twitter against not only Sarah Palin, but her family as well. I know linking to it isn't much different from posting it, but the fewer places it is visible the less chance that unhinged people like Lougher can stumble across it. Remember the same people expressing these vile thoughts are the same ones who decry the rhetoric heard on talk radio. I wonder which gets more attention, an AM talk radio show or a posting on widely used internet service?

I would think that the Palin's could pursue some legal process against these people. I would start first by getting a list of people using whatever legal route is required and then contacting the law enforcement for the area in which these people live pushing to press charges for communicating a threat. I would make a very public showing of doing exactly that, and then any law enforcement agency that refused to cooperate I would then shame publicly. The real simple question for law enforcement is do you want to be the next sheriff Dupnik who chooses to ignore death threats against your citizens? If that did not result in legal proceedings the next step would be to confront these people at home, at work, or anywhere else with video camera in tow and get them on tape responding to my question of here I am, do you want to shoot me?

You shine a very public light on them and not allow them to hide behind screen names and they will soon crawl back under the rock they came out from, but at the same time make a very public showing of naming and shaming them.

But that is just me. The fact is all of the Palin's are going to have to take extra security measures because of the vitriol, which is exactly what the left wants. They tried to bankrupt them with frivolous lawsuits and having failed that they are now trying to force them into what basically amounts to a witness protection program. Anything to get Sarah off the national stage, and it really is getting to a point where I now fear for her children, especially in light of some high profile folks, Kathy Gifford for example, who have declared that the kids are no longer off limits. In fact in some of these 'tweets' reference is made to the children. I don't know how Todd handles it without going off. He is a better man then me is all I can say. Political considerations be damned. You threaten my spouse and my family and you had better be prepared to defend yourself. The first rule of gun safety, which was beat into my head at a young age, was never point a weapon at anything you don't intend to shoot. Using this sort of language is the same as pointing a loaded weapon at somebody and goes beyond any sort of rhetorical flourish.

The left is making it easy for me to vote for Sarah for president, if for no other reason then to get her the Secret Service protection she needs to protect herself from these self identified nuts. The other point they don't seem to get is she may have faded long ago if it wasn't for the lefts obsession with her.

"Obamacare is Now in Jeopardy of Repeal Because of Her"

That is Sarah Palin's lawyer Thomas Van Flein, as quoted in an in-depth profile of the 'Cuda in this Sunday's New York Times Magazine.

Lisa Murkowski could not be reached for comment.
Van Flein, a boyish-looking 46-year-old employment-law specialist who majored in political science at the University of Alaska, receives a $10,000 monthly retainer from SarahPAC. In return, he dispenses more than just legal advice. Van Flein contributes research to some of Palin’s Facebook posts and speeches and is a staunch political advocate. (“Regardless of whoever else does or doesn’t say it, I’m saying that Obamacare is now in jeopardy of repeal because of her,” Van Flein proclaimed to me.)
Read the whole thing.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is undoubtedly one of the single most egregious, odious, and ironically-named bills ever to be passed in Washington, D.C. It's not even accurate to call it 'sausage' - it's more like mystery meat, and the more we find out about it, the worse it gets.

Nearly 6 out of 10 Americans continue to favor full repeal of the bill, 8 months after its passage.

Translation: If you want to get elected President in 2012, you better favor full-on, unequivocal repeal of this heinous piece of legislation.

Europeans Taking Bets on Sarah Palin

There is a reason why the phrase "drunken Irishman" has become a staple of our culture, not all of the reasons are linked to Teddy Kennedy either.

Seems an Irish bookmaking company, Paddy Power, is now taking bets on which group Sarahcuda will offend first. It seems to me they are setting the bar kind of low by including Muslims on it. The very presence of Ms Palin not wearing a hefty bag is enough to offend a large swath of the Muslim community.

Here are the current odds:
4/1 Gay/Lesbian/Bi-sexual
6/1 African American
6/1 Muslims
8/1 Single parents
10/1 Senior Citizens
10/1 The Poor
12/1 Arab Americans
14/1 Jews
16/1 Native Americans
16/1 Third World countries
18/1 Christians
20/1 Irish
20/1 The infirm

Like I said some of the perpetually outraged included on the list seem like no brainers, but then again the competition is for the first group to be offended.

You Stay Classy, DNC

Well, since Just a Grunt already noted Sarah Palin's resignation as Alaska governor, there isn't much more to cover than the reaction.

As always, the Democrats lead the pack in snide smugness.
Following Palin's announcement, the Democratic National Committee blasted what it called her "bizarre behavior."

"Either Sarah Palin is leaving the people of Alaska high and dry to pursue her long shot national political ambitions or she simply can't handle the job now that her popularity has dimmed and oil revenues are down," DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse said.

"Either way, her decision to abandon her post and the people of Alaska who elected her continues a pattern of bizarre behavior that more than anything else may explain the decision she made today."
Classy.

Amazingly, Palin's uterine stalker fails to mention Trig.

Much more reaction here.

So, is this a move with an eye on a 2012 run?

Update: Doug Ross notes an item from one of the web's true bottom feeders (via Dan Riehl).

Also, ten theories why Palin may have resigned.

Having noted bottom feeders earlier, get a load of this:

Palin Will Run In '12 On More Retardation Platform

Via Allahpundit on Twitter.

Unreal.

In case they try to toss this one down the memory hole, here it is.

Update
: Sure enough, the disgusting item from the Huffington Post went down the memory hole.

Oops.

Don't forget, the president thinks so much of those folks he singles them out for questions at press conferences.

Of Questions And Answers

Because Jim Lehrer is a boring old fool and loathe to offend anybody, we know a question that won't be asked tonight:

Yo 'Bama -- doooooood!

PALIN STILL GOT YOUR GOAT?

Palin Hacker Sought to 'Derail Her Campaign'

So let's see. Someone wanted to derail Sarah Palin, and criminally hacked into her email.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest this person was a Demmocrat. Just a hunch.
A person taking credit for hacking into Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's personal Yahoo account claims to have read the Republican vice-presidential candidate's e-mails to find something that "would derail her campaign" after using publicly available biographical data to reset her password, according to a posting on the Internet.

"There was nothing there, nothing incriminating — all I saw was personal stuff, some clerical stuff from when she was governor," the person wrote in a message on 4chan.org that was later erased, according to Wired.com, which copied the account on its Web site.
Put nothing past the dirty trick Democrats. When you have their presidential nominee openly slandering citizens, it's no stretch to think they wouldn't resort to criminal tactics to get what they want.

Most of the media seems curiously disinterested in pursuing this case. Had Barack Obama's email been hacked it would be 24/7 coverage on every network, there would be thousands of reporters hunting down the perpetrator and the GOP would be blamed even in the absence of evidence.

But when it's a Republican being violated, hey, that's fine.

Meanwhile, the Tennessee Democrat whose son is the focus of the investigation is playing dumb.
When asked whether his son is involved in the case in any way, Mr. Kernell said: "I can't talk about my son. I can just tell you no one has contacted him or I about this."

The breach came to light Wednesday after several screen shots revealing e-mails and personal photos from Mrs. Palin's account were found circulating on the Web. The FBI and the U.S. Secret Service are investigating.

The McCain campaign verified the hack on Wednesday, calling it a "shocking invasion of the governor's privacy and a violation of the law."

Drunken Hollywood Trash Rips Palin

Another rousing endorsement for Barack Obama. I'm surprised this drug-addled skank is even aware of who Sarah Palin is.
Lindsay Lohan and her all-but-confirmed girlfriend Samantha Ronson are the latest Hollywood celebrities to take aim at Republican vice presidential hopeful Gov. Sarah Palin, bashing the candidate on homosexuality and other issues Sunday on Lohan's MySpace blog.

"I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin," Lohan writes, urging people to vote for Sen. Barack Obama. "Is it a sin to be gay? Should it be a sin to be straight? Or to use birth control? Or to have sex before marriage? Or even to have a child out of wedlock?"

Lohan included a portion of an Associated Press story stating that Palin's Wasilla, Alaska, church was promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer.

"Is our country so divided that the Republicans' best hope is a narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe?" she asks.

Lohan also blasts Palin on abortion (Palin is pro-life).

"Women have come a long way in the fight to have the choice over what we do with our bodies ... and it's frightening to see that a woman in 2008 would negate all of that," she writes.

Lohan also urges Palin to know her place — "Don't pose for anymore tabloid covers, you're not a celebrity" — and even quotes Pamela Anderson:

"In the words of Pamela Anderson, 'She can suck it,'' she writes.
Isn't that special?

This lowlife then went on to attack a photographer last night.

So nice to see the lovely folks in Hollywood doing their part to unite the country.

SC Dem Chair: Palin Only Qualified Because She Didn't Abort Trig

What would you expect from a woman married to a guy who hoped for a monster hurricane in order to disrupt the GOP convention?

Well, this thing named Carol Fowler deals from the bottom of the deck today on two fronts.
South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler sharply attacked Sarah Palin today, saying John McCain had chosen a running mate "whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.”

Palin is an opponent of abortion rights and gave birth to her fifth child, Trig, earlier this year after finding out during her pregnancy that the baby had Down syndrome.
As if that's not enough, she also not-so-subtly plays the race card.
“Among Democratic women and even among independent women, I don’t think it helped him,” she said.

Told of McCain's boost in the new ABC/Washington Post among white women following the Palin pick, Fowler said: "Just anecdotally, I believe that those white women are Republican women anyway."
Huh?

Jake Tapper is incredulous.
South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Katon Dawson today called Fowler’s statement "offensive, outrageous and - most importantly – dead wrong. Governor Sarah Palin is a strong pro-life, pro-family reform-minded conservative with meaningful experience whose message has resonated in South Carolina. Fowler's statement is born out of desperation from a campaign that is sputtering across the South. Carol Fowler should immediately apologize. Her remarks are unbecoming of a party leader and demonstrate poor judgment."

My stars.
I guess this gives the community organizer something to whine about tomorrow after the inevitable fallout from this outlandish and grossly offensive statement.

See also Dems in Meltdown.

More from Hot Air.

Don Surber observes:
Stay classy, Obama. Show that Ivy League education, the dreams of your father, and that audacity of hope. Your followers have taken their cue.
Update: As Obama runs for cover, the dimwit Fowler offers this lame apology, managing to squeeze in the requisite Obama talking points..
"I personally admire and respect the difficult choices that women make everyday, and I apologize to anyone who finds my comment offensive. I clumsily was making a point about people in South Carolina who may vote based on a single issue. Whether it’s the environment, the economy, the war or a woman’s right to choose, there are people who will cast their vote based on a single issue. That was the only point I was attempting to make."
Sorry. Too late. You meant what you said and you said what you meant. Such a shame her mama didn't abort her, some might argue.

Lindsay Graham demands a condemnation from Obama. Good luck with that.
