NYC Finally Safe, Bans Trans Fats

The place that used to be called Fun City before it became a nanny state really knows how to keep their priorities in order.

Forget the threat of terrorism, marauders in the streets, illegals crowding into the city and a tax base fleeing both the city and state. No, they have a laser focus on the important issue of the day: Controlling what you eat.

Whatever happened to choice in this liberal bastion?

Meanwhile, minor, relatively unimportant issues continue to brew on the backburner: World powers fail to reach Iran accord.
PARIS - Six world powers made "substantive progress" but failed to reach an accord on a U.N. resolution to punish Iran for defying U.N. demands to halt its nuclear program, the French Foreign Ministry said after talks in Paris Tuesday.

OK, so there's progress, but they didn't get anywhere. Despite this lack of progress, the Iranians are undeterred.
Tehran made a new threat of retaliation if the powers opted for sanctions.

Laughing at the world "powers" every minute.
We made substantive progress on the scope of the sanctions targeting proliferation-sensitive activities. There remain several outstanding issues, upon which we will reflect over the coming days," the French ministry said in a statement. "We are now close to a conclusion of this process."

If anything, they may either die laughing, or, if they have yet to ban trans fats, from clogged arteries.

I guess the moral for New Yorkers is that if the threat of a nuclear clash with Iran increases, chances are they'll be around to see it now.

Oh, and lately some have urged we open dialogue with Iran. Yet they keep repressing their own people: Iran blocks access to YouTube.com

Rest your New York City arteries, sleep tight.
