The System Worked: Man Carries Shotgun Shells Onto Plane

We'd never have known about it if he didn't fess up and admit he "inadvertently" brought them on. Not quite sure how you pack shotgun shells unwittingly, but we'll play along.
Transportation authorities say a passenger inadvertently carried shotgun shells onto a plane at Milwaukee's Mitchell International Airport.

The Transportation Security Administration said in a statement that the passenger boarded a Republic Airlines flight to Dallas around 8 a.m. Monday.

Another passenger, Doug Bell, of Hales Corners, said as the plane was getting ready for departure, the pilot came on the intercom and said the plane had to return to the gate because a passenger had told a flight attendant he had the shells in his carry-on bag.

Bell says the man got off the plane and TSA agents searched the storage compartment above his seat.
Naturally, TSA is "reviewing" the incident.
Fotenos said the TSA is reviewing how the passenger got the ammunition through pre-boarding security searches. He declined to identify the man or comment further. TSA policy prohibits passengers from having firearms or ammunition in their carryon luggage.
Anwar Al-Awlaki was too busy laughing to comment.
