Rick Rescorla was a hero in the battle of the Ia Drang Valley in Vietnam, a battle immortalized in the movie "We Were Soldiers" and on September 11, 2001, while carrying out his duties as the security officer for Morgan Stanley, he was credited with saving approximately 2700 lives by safely evacuating them from the building. He lost his life that day when he went back into the south tower to ensure that everybody was out and the tower collapsed. He was last heard from a 9:03 AM when he made a call to his wife. The building collapsed at 9:59 AM.
