Remember When News Used To Be Informative?

This is why Fox News beats the pants off of the competition. Today Bret Baier hosted a special on the Medicare issue. In this segment he had Rep Paul Ryan (R) and Rep Chris Van Hollen (D) on to present their sides of the argument and to debate each other. This segment is but 10 minutes out of the 1 hour special but it pretty well sums up how the debate is going to go.

Rep Ryan was as sharp as ever and Van Hollen's arguments always seem to go off on a tangent with references to tax breaks for oil companies, raising taxes on the rich or that Medicare wasn't really in that much trouble and we shouldn't be trying to take action until it is in it's death throes.

Of course more people are probably watching the Weiner spectacle or Casey Anthony trial more closely then they are this important issue which is what allows the Dems to demagogue the hell out it and distort the matter.

Without knowing all that much about either man it is certainly clear that Rep Ryan is the point man when it comes to fiscal matters and if Van Hollen is the best the Dems have to offer, then they very definitely lose the debate, but today it is all about viral You Tube videos and catchy jingles and not so much about substance. To both representative's credit they engaged in a discussion without acrimony, shouting or issuing insults. It is just for me Rep Ryan came with facts and Van Hollen came with a fog machine.

I implore you to spend 10 minutes watching the clip, I am sure Fox will rerun the entire special, or at least I would hope they do, and somehow, someway we could get everybody to watch it and leave your political leanings aside until afterwards. There was a lot of good information presented and Bret did a good job of being a newsman and moderator.

Progressive Goon Squad Displaying New Civility

Ben Smith over at Politico must think this is some sort of revelation, the fact that Media Matters is targeting Fox News but really it is just an affirmation of what we already knew. I guess if there is some new news in the article it is the level of venom and hatred that resides in the hearts and minds of the Media Matters myrmidons. Really this level of obsession is unhealthy and borders on the Andrew Sullivan's degree of craziness associated with all things related to the reproduction abilities of the Palin's.

The liberal group Media Matters has quietly transformed itself in preparation for what its founder, David Brock, described in an interview as an all-out campaign of “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” aimed at the Fox News Channel.

I guess that civility memo just flew right across their desk and into file 13 faster then their writers could generate it.

Media Matters are acting like some sort of Borg collective, running around demanding that everyone assimilate, but in that regard they act no different then any liberal who when confronted with a conservative African American don't immediately start hurling the Uncle Tom references at them. Progressives and liberals despise anybody or anything that will not reside in the designated group that they have assigned them to. Their interpretation of free speech means you are free to have free speech as long as you use our talking points.

There is a reason Fox News is #1 but as an employee of Fox News, regardless of capacity from the secretaries to Rupert Murdoch, knowing that you have a group of unhinged people monitoring your every move and poring over your personal information has got to be a little unnerving and knowing that for this group nothing is beneath them I would be looking to take measures to protect myself.

Don't ever think Media Matters is just an innocent bunch of obsessed bloggers. If they put you in their crosshairs they will stop at nothing to destroy you. They will make the stuff up knowing full well that many traditional media outlets not only have their back but will work with them to promote the storyline regardless of if there is one bit of factual information in it or not.

The on air Fox personalities are one thing, but Media Matters is making it clear they don't care if you are janitor or the night watchman, if you work for Fox News they are coming after you.

“We made a list of every single person who works for Fox and tried to figure out who might be disgruntled and why, and we went out to try to meet them,” he said. “Clearly, somebody in that organization is giving us primary source documents.”

Media Matters, he said, is also conducting “opposition research” on a dozen or so “mid- and senior-level execs and producers,” a campaign style move that he and Brock said would simply involve recording their public appearances and digging into public records associated with them.

My sympathies are with the Fox News employees who are going to have to endure this self declared war and I would think somewhere out there are some lawyers who would be willing to help these folks with the invasion of their privacy and with what will no doubt manifest itself in some physical confrontations with the minions of this progressive organization because that is exactly how they operate. Intimidation, fear, and threats.

Being a big dog lover I might also suggest that Fox employees look into some sort of canine companionship so that when the Media Matters employee who forgets to take his meds that day and shows up on your front lawn can also be given a chance to evaluate their cardio vascular conditioning level.

Hot Air Goes Prime Time

Since I didn't see anything over at Hot Air mentioning this I figured it was fair game to post. Most conservative web surfer political news junkies are familiar with the web site managed by Michelle Malkin called Hot Air and even if politics ain't your thing it is a good site to visit for links to other stories.

Well I guess this this is the big time for them as they got a shout out on an Onion News Network piece last night. It ain't as good as getting mentioned on Bret Baier's show on Fox, but hey baby steps.

A Lie and the Lying Liar Who Told It: "I Didn't Raise Taxes Once"

Before yesterday's Obama-O'Reilly interview inevitably descended into Jeff Zeleny territory about 9 minutes in, the President slipped one of his patented bald-faced lies right past the Fox News host.

But the Wall Street Journal editorial board didn't miss it.

Bill O'Reilly's Fox interview with President Obama on Sunday was fascinating, and not merely because Mr. Obama made clear he's an ardent fan of these pages. What really caught our attention was the President's claim that "I didn't raise taxes once. I lowered taxes over the last two years."

The Presidency is demanding, and with the Egypt mess and his other duties, perhaps Mr. Obama has forgotten some of his tax achievements. Allow us to refresh his memory. In his historic health-care bill, for example, there is the new $27 billion "fee" on drug companies that is already in effect. Next year, device manufacturers will get hit to the tune of $20 billion, and heath insurers will pay $60 billion starting in 2014—all of which are de facto tax increases because these collections will be passed on to consumers as higher costs. Of course, these are merely tax increases on business.

DOJ Arrests State Department Leaker

No not the one who leaked information on anything during the Bush years but rather someone who gave information to James Rosen of Fox News on North Korea's nuclear program. I don't have much yet, just the report that Bret Baier gave on air a few minutes ago.

The Obama administration on Friday accused an analyst who worked at the State Department of leaking top secret information about North Korea to a reporter. He is pleading innocent. It was the latest move in an aggressive campaign to crack down on leaks, even as the administration has supported proposed legislation that would shield reporters from having to identify their sources.

Steven Kim, who worked at State as an employee of a contractor, was named in a federal indictment unsealed Friday. He was charged with illegally disclosing national defense information, which carries a top penalty of 10 years in prison, and with making false statements to the FBI, which has a maximum five-year sentence.

The Justice Department said in June 2009 Kim knowingly passed information about U.S. intelligence concerning a foreign country to a national news organization and in September of that year falsely denied to the FBI having had recent contacts with a reporter from that news organization. The material was classified top secret/sensitive compartmented information because it concerned the military capability of the foreign country and related to U.S. intelligence sources and methods.

It sounds like the DOJ's case is weak since as Mr Kim's lawyers contend it was nothing more then a conversation between the man and the reporter which contained no information not known to anybody who was more then a casual observer and the judge released him with no bail.

Amazing how this Department of Justice works isn't it. After passing on the New Black Panther's voter intimidation case, screwing up who knows how many trials of Gitmo detainees and today turning a blind eye to the USS Cole bomber they have plucked some guy out of thin air who gave information to Fox News.

Talk about sending a message.

I wonder how the left will treat this news. Will they run to his defense like they did the asshat Army private who worked with Julian Assange of Wikileaks or march with pitchforks demanding his head on a pike because he leaked to Fox News instead of one of their favored liberal news sources like the New York Times or Time magazine?

Ever Been Curious About Who Posts at Democratic Underground?

Most people who follow political discussion blogs are familiar with the progressive site Democratic Underground. It is a fetid cesspool where they ridicule everything conservative, often sinking to the lowest level. They agree with the harassment of the military and their families, enjoy inventing new derogatory terms for the objects of their scorn, mostly Sarah Palin and Karl Rove, and of course all things Bush, and are in general a whining bunch of pantywaists. A trip through their message boards will leave you wanting a long, hot shower. Lest you think they are, however, some sort of fringe unit, a lot of Congress critters post there and you will often see the ideas they put forth mentioned in speeches on the floor of the House.

Well, here is a chance to meet one of their members. This weekend Steve Leser appeared on the Fox News show called 'Cashin In', which is a show revolving around business. Mr. Leser apparently had made a bet with Wayne Rogers, yes, the Dr Trapper John from M*A*S*H fame, that unemployment would soon reach 7.5%. The loser would have to wear a dress. Steve was so impressed with himself that he couldn't wait to post an entry on the DU message boards trumpeting his hey, look at me moment. He did, however, forget to mention that soon he would be wearing a dress.



Something tells me that a lot of those who post over DU are waiting in tense anticipation of seeing Steve in dress.

For pure comedy gold, you want to watch this segment in which Steve manages to crack up the entire panel with his downplaying of how the federal government is taking over so much of our day to day lives. There is some pretty sobering comments about the future of healthcare in this country also.


Bear in mind the people comprising this panel are not politicians, but rather people who work on Wall St. or are involved in the private business sector. They deal with facts and figures and not hope and change.

BTW, you just have to love Jonathon Hoening. Anybody who runs an investment firm called Capitalist Pig can't be all bad.

Hmm: Navy Cuts Off Access to Fox News Site

On the upside, if they want, ahem, some real news, they can still access CNN and MSNBC.

Members of the U.S. Navy were blocked Friday from gaining access to Fox News' Web site, a Navy spokesman confirmed to FoxNews.com.

Lt. Justin Cole, a spokesman for the Navy, said that he wasn't able to access that site along with other news sites, including NewYorkTimes.com. But Navy members could still go to MSNBC.com and CNN.com.

"There's got to be some type of issue with NMCI," Cole said, referring to the Navy Marine Corps Internet. Cole said he was looking into the cause.

When members tried to go to FoxNews.com, the following message appeared: "Access to this site has been denied in accordance with Navy policy to safeguard the security posture and/or to maintain the operational integrity of the NMCI."

I'm surprised they don't just reroute the Fox News links to Obama's Organizing for America website.

Update: It appears to have been a technical issue.

A military official who's an expert on these matters told retired Lt. Col. Oliver North, a Fox News contributor, that two issues with the Fox News site would have triggered the outage.

One is the bandwidth -- most of the other news sites don't consume as much bandwidth as Foxnews.com, which is pretty busy, the source told North.

The second, the source said, is the filtering system was triggered by a photo of celebrity Kim Kardashian that was posted to the site that contained the notation: NSFW, which stands for "not safe for work," combined with a slideshow titled "Sexiest Celeb Stepmothers."

The source said the Navy's system is built automatically to filter out and block any sites that are perceived to possibly contain porn.

"What has happened here, the computer saw the NSFW photo and saw the sexiest celeb stepmothers and automatically said it's a porn site and shut if off to the rest of the Navy in the world," North recalled what he was told.

"When people started to call in, they then manually looked at it and then overrode the computer program," he said.

FoxNews.com posts photos with the NSFW notation about three times a week and features a twice-weekly sex column with the words "sex" in the headline.

The guy is on television 24/7 and cries like a little bitch that he can't get a word in. Seemingly an innocuous middle of the road replacement heretofore for Brit Hume, Bret Baier tonight no doubt earned himself a place in the leftwing Hall of Hate for leaving Obama in shambles, quivering, dodging and whining that he's being interrupted.

'She’s Gifted. She Has All the Parts'

Indeed, Megyn Kelly does have all the parts. Beautiful, intelligent and she doesn't suffer fools liberals easily. Surprisingly, the New York Times offers up a very fair portrait of her today, giving us an excuse to post her photo. The writer takes a typical cheap swipe at Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly, but we assume that's part of the style manual at the Old Grey Hag.

First “America’s Newsroom.” Then “America’s Election Headquarters.” And on Monday, Megyn Kelly will begin anchoring a third all-about-America newscast, “America Live.”

“We’re big on America here at Fox,” Ms. Kelly said in an interview last week.

And America, or at least a big chunk of it, is big on Fox News, which is coming off its highest-rated year ever. That record is largely attributable to right-wing opinion-mongers like Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly, whose bluster sometimes distracts from the newscasts that make up Fox’s daytime schedule.

But there is no concealing the rise of Ms. Kelly, a 39-year-old lawyer who is becoming a solo anchor for the first time. She seems to be progressing through Fox’s star-making machinery, which has turned news anchors like Shepard Smith into household names.

Ms. Kelly appears weekly on Mr. O’Reilly’s opinion program, often putting her legal background to use. Inside the News Corporation, the owner of Fox, Ms. Kelly has been mentioned as a leading candidate for a prime-time anchor job. Fox’s contract with Greta Van Susteren, the longtime 10 p.m. anchor, is up at the end of the year.

In her new role, Ms. Kelly will lead the 1 and 2 p.m. Eastern hours, reading the day’s news and continuing her trademark “Kelly’s Court” segment, which comes from “America’s Newsroom,” the morning show on which she was paired with Bill Hemmer for the last three years. The afternoon shift, typically busy with breaking news, accentuates what Ms. Kelly calls the “sort of ‘swim, swim!’ nature of live TV.”

“It’s heady,” she said.

Fox executives, who view Mr. Hemmer and Ms. Kelly as rising stars, say they split up the pair to spread their talents across more hours of the day. “She’s gifted. She has all the parts,” Michael Clemente, the senior vice president for news editorial at Fox, said of Ms. Kelly.

The Real Reason Corzine Lost

Maybe the Dems want to rethink that whole avoid Fox News strategy.

And the ratings are in from last nights coverage, proving once again that the judgment exhibited by this administration is highly suspect.

FNC: 4,043,000 in total viewers (1,130,000 in A25-54)

MSNBC: 974,000 in total viewers (308,000 in A25-54)

HLN: 842,000 in total viewers (341,000 in A25-54)

CNN: 826,000 in total viewers (227,000 in A25-54)

The other three cable news channels are dangerously close to having what used to be called a cult following. You know, like those who never missed an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 or The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Neil seems to take some of the comments made by the most recent darling of the Democrat party, Rep Alan Grayson, a little personal. In this wrap up of his show today he replayed comments that have been made by Grayson as well as an interview he had with the congressman earlier in the year. All of this is coming on the heels of an attempt by Griff Jenkins of Fox News, working at the behest of Bill O'Reilly, to get an interview with good congressman.

Enjoy watching Neil Cavuto rip this guy apart and send him crying like a little baby back to the friendly confines of MSNBC, whom the White House assures us isn't partisan.

Glenn Was Right Again

Yesterday on Glenn Beck's television show he received a call on what is called the Refounders Line. Not to be confused with the special line he installed that would allow Anita Dunn to call his show anytime she saw something wrong and have Glenn correct it immediately. A phone that has never rang, by the way. Anyway, after hanging up he alluded to some big news that was coming concerning White House communications director Dunn's husband. Granted, he played it for all it was worth, but lo and behold, look what is breaking today from Fox News.

White House Communications Director Anita Dunn's husband is emerging as the top candidate to replace Greg Craig as White House counsel, Fox News has learned.

Dunn's husband, Bob Bauer, is President Obama's personal lawyer and a former counsel to his campaign, as well as the top lawyer for the Democratic National Committee.

Media Matters Goes All In Against Fox News

Media Matters, the organization which promoted and spread the fake quotes about Rush Limbaugh, and the self -ppointed monitor of all things related to Fox News has decided to go all in in their attempt to further marginalize and discredit Fox News.

Yes, Media Matters is a blatantly far-leftwing arm of all things liberal. They like to call themselves progressive, if by progressive you mean the good old days of Stalin ruling Russia.

Fox has declared war on this White House, the majority in the United States Congress, and progressive organizations and activists.

Hmm, this organization which purports to have numerous levels of fact-checking needs to go back and look at the video. On further review they will find that it is the White House Communications office which fired the first shots in this war. It was the weasels in the administration that decided it would be better to not appear on Fox rather then Fox not giving them a venue to state their side of issues.

The truth is Media Matters and their like-minded Soros-funded organizations realize that a very strong voice has arisen to halt their control of the news. They don't want both sides presented, they just want their side.

This group has been wrong more then they have been right in their pursuit of the truth. They have become masters at clipping videos to leave out pertinent portions or fail to provide context for comments which peg their outrage meter. They are nothing more then propaganda editors with an Orwellian dictionary at the ready to tell you what somebody meant when they said something. They can find a evil conservative plot behind colored M&M's.

No, Mr, Brock, you are not as important as you think in your self-deluded, self-absorbed mind. Your credibility is gone because of your playing hard and loose with the facts in the past.

And unlike your organization, if Fox News does make an error they acknowledge it on air and correct the story.

Welcome To Mao's, er, Obama's America

At this point in time posting this video about the attempted blackballing of Fox News from interviewing the administration's Pay Czar, Ken Feinberg, is obligatory, but deserves the widest dissemination. It isn't often we have much to say positive about the other networks news coverage, but at least in this case they told the White House there is a line that can't be crossed and they deserve credit for taking that stand, whatever their motivations are.

This entire attempt by those in the administration to try an marginalize Fox News has been a total disaster for them, and is only fueling the sentiment in large portions of the country that there has never been an administration so hell bent on ignoring and indeed destroying the Constitution in the history of this country. Instead of giving themselves some level of plausible deniability and at least the appearance of being a benign presence they are instead reinforcing the idea that those in power are no better then some South American banana republic.

It is not in the nature of either Rahm Emanuel or David Axelrod to apologize for anything they have done, and I do think they are playing a big part in the attempt to isolate Fox News, so I wouldn't expect anything in that regard. This White House will just move on and try to minimize any mention of this incident and instead count on the short attention span of the average American and move on to their next target, whether it be the financial community, health insurance companies or any other non union business in the country.

White House Amps Up Jihad Against Fox News

I guess having 99% of the media slobbering over you isn't enough. All media must be subservient or you lash out like whiny babies.

Just pathetic.

In the past few months, Fox News' critical coverage of the Obama administration has been the subject of scornful scrutiny by left-leaning pundits and political satirists. But now the White House appears to be willing to get dirt on its own hands, jumping into the fray by blasting the network's "disregard for facts" in a post on the official White House blog.

Written by White House Online Programs Director Jesse Lee, the post takes issue with Fox News' coverage of the president's attempts to help the city of Chicago secure the 2016 Olympics, saying that Rupert Murdoch's cable news juggernaut, which famously bills itself as being "fair and balanced," has "continued its disregard for the facts in an attempt to smear the Administration's efforts" to convince the International Olympic Committee that the U.S. should host the games.

Lee specifically takes issue with Glenn Beck, who in July accused the president of being a "racist" with "a deep-seated hatred for white people or white culture," for showing that "nothing is worthy of respect if it can be used as part of a partisan attack to boost ratings." Lee then goes on to "reality check" a number of assertions recently made by Beck on his afternoon program, in addition to directing readers to the St. Petersburg Times' Politifact site, which rebuts accusations made by Fox News' Steve Doocy against Patrick Gaspard, the director of the White House Office of Political Affairs.

The move by the Obama White House sets a new watermark in its seemingly escalating war with Fox News. Back in June, President Obama gave an interview to CNBC in which he criticized the network for being "entirely devoted to attacking my administration," and later promised to "call out" anyone who misrepresents him when he delivered his address on health care reform to a joint session of Congress. Taking it a step further, Obama slighted Fox News during the White House's recent pro-health care reform PR blitz, appearing on five Sunday news shows, not to mention Late Night with David Letterman, while declining to grant an interview to a single Fox News program, a move that led Chris Wallace, host of the network's Fox News Sunday, to label the Obama White House as the "biggest bunch of cry-babies I've ever seen." Some objective observers of politics and the media feel that the ire expressed by Wallace is somewhat understandable. After all, the Obama administration's frustrations stem not from non-partisan hosts like Wallace, but from Fox News' roster of unabashedly partisan hosts like Beck and Sean Hannity, who've both gone so far as to compare the Obama White House to Hitler's Germany and the communist Soviet Union.

Funny, but I don't recall the Bush administration acting like children when they were bashed nonstop by the alleged journalists at MSNBC.

Man up and grow a pair, Bambi.

It should come as no surprise this Jesse Lee came to prominence by being a hard left blogger. He should know plenty about being partisan.

We Can't Get Enough of Miss California

As you know, we're already quite fond of the lovely Miss Prejean.

Well, she's too good to be true.

A couple of things I noticed. She starts out stressing people have the right to choose, and hasn't it been the left who's all about choice?

Second, that freak Hilton was fundamentally dishonest in his question. He claims four states have legalized gay marriage, although only Vermont has passed legislation. Judges made it the law in three other states.

Tea Party Protests a Boom for Fox Ratings

Is it any wonder the jealous morons at CNN and MessNBC are reduced to babbling incoherently about teabagging jokes?

Brent Bozell, president of the conservative Media Research Center, said the media coverage was "insulting," reacting specifically to CNN reporter Susan Roesgen's combative interviews with Illinois demonstrators in which she declared that the protests were "anti-CNN" and supported by FOX News. She left the teabagging jokes to her colleagues, though.

"I've never seen anything like it," Bozell said. "The oral sex jokes on (CNN) and particularly MSNBC on teabagging ... they had them by the dozens. That's how insulting they were toward people who believe they're being taxed too highly."

Max Pappas, public policy vice president at FreedomWorks -- a small-government group which promoted the tea parties -- said it's a "shame" media outlets cracked jokes at a genuine "grassroots uprising."

"I think what that reveals is how worried they are that this might actually be something serious. You make fun of things you're afraid of, I'd say," Pappas said.

If anyone thinks the orally charged remarks on mainstream cable were just a coincidence, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow's segments over the past week with guest, Air America's Ana Marie Cox, would dissolve all doubt. Their on-air gymnastics, dancing around the double entendre of the week, looked like live-action Beavis and Butthead.

By one count, the two of them used the word "teabag" more than 50 times on one show. And on Monday, Cox even let the viewers in on their joke -- referencing Urbandictionary.com, a site which offers a number of colorful definitions for the term "teabagging."

"Well, there is a lot of love in teabagging," Cox said. "It is curious, though, as you point out, they do not use the verb 'teabag.' It might be because they're less enthusiastic about teabagging than some of the more corporate conservatives who seem to have taken to it quite easily."

Classy.

Expect these losers to really ratchet it up now.

President in Training Apologizes to Nancy Reagan

Really slick move insulting the ailing former First Lady while holding your first softball, Twinkie-munch session with the fawning press.

Sorry, but this weak apology isn't quite cutting it.

President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan this afternoon to apologize for a joke about her having heald [sic] "séances" in the White House, an Obama aide said.

“President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan today to apologize for the careless and off handed remark he made during today’s press conference," said transition spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter. "The President-elect expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share and they had a warm conversation."

Obama was asked at his press conference today if he'd spoken to all the "living" presidents.

"I have spoken to all of them who are living," he responded. "I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any séances."

Warm admiration, my ass.

Ironic, isn't it, how he lamely invoked Ronald Reagan's name wherever he could during his campaign, then goes out of his way to throw a cheap shot at a woman who just broke her hip.

Meanwhile, the petty trainee avoided Fox News during this "press conference," giving his press secretary Nedra Pickler the first question.

This childish obsession over Fox News is really beneath the dignity of the White House. George W. Bush has been mercilessly pummelled by most of the media during his term but has never acted so petulantly about any media outlets.

Obama needs to grow up before he actually assumes office. If he's going to whine and snivel like a little bitch about Fox, then he just doesn't have the chops to be a credible leader.

Joe the Biden claimed Obama has a spine of steel. He might want to try demonstrating that.
