Considering the nonsense they'll smear her with, maybe it's worth noting this item from the New York Times way back machine about Gaffe-master Joe Biden. I briefly heard a mention of this from Sean Hannity today and though at first it may have been a current story. But since Biden's running with He Who Shall Not Be Criticized Under Penalty of The Truth Squad, the media obviously is reticent to note his link these days.
A Republican supporter of the nomination of Associate William H. Rehnquist of the Supreme Court to be Chief Justice today disclosed records that showed a home in which Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. lived for three years had a deed barring ownership by blacks.OK, you say, this dates back to the early 70s. Still, do you think for a second if John McCain or Sarah Palin had any such association in the past it wouldn't be newsworthy?
James McClellan, head of the Center for Judicial Studies in Cumberland, Va., said that from August 1971 to October 1974 the home was the legal residence of Mr. Biden, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has been holding hearings on the Rehnquist nomination.
''It suggests perhaps an element of hypocrisy'' for Mr. Biden and other Democratic senators to question similar restrictive deeds on property owned by Justice Rehnquist, he said. Senator Biden could not be reached immediately for comment.
Justice Rehnquist was questioned about deeds to a former home in Phoenix that barred ownership by nonwhites and a vacation home in Vermont that barred ownership by Jews. He has said that the restrictions, although offensive, were unenforceable.
