Disaster for Patriots: Brady Reportedly Done for the Season

Meet Matt Cassel, starting quarterback for the New England Patriots.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the 2008 season with a severe injury to his left knee, according to two sources cited by Yahoo! Sports.

Brady left Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium after being hit by Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard in the first quarter. Matt Cassel replaced Brady, and the Patriots went on to win the game, 17-10.
...
"It's bad," a team source told the website. "We're going to have to play without him."
The Patriots can still be competitive, but this is a huge blow for a team already rattle by losing the Super Bowl last season. No question there are doubts about Cassel, who's never started an NFL or college game.

Suddenly the AFC East looks wide open with the Jets and Bills suddenly in the mix for a division title. And my decision to pick the Patriots to not go to the Super Bowl looks like a good move.

I wonder if Vinny Testaverde has gotten a call yet tonight?

Update: Hmmm. Daunte Culpepper a possibility?
