26,000 Tons Of Hurt

The Navy's latest combat assault ship, the USS New York, is in New York City this week for it's commissioning on Saturday and the crew from Fox and Friends spent a very chilly morning out on the ship this morning giving us an overview of the ship and it's capabilities.

In summary it is a 26,000 ton ship with 7 1/2 tons of steel built into the bow that came from the World Trade Center. The ship was constructed in a shipyard in New Orleans, and the construction was interrupted by hurricane Katrina. It has a crew of 400 Navy personnel and can carry about 800 Marines anywhere in the world to deliver them to the fight. It has the capability to carry the latest Osprey aircraft as well as helicopters along with all the equipment the Marines would need to fight with, up to and including tanks.

In other words if this bad ass shows up in your neighborhood, I hope you have been good or else the Marines on board will be sure to punish the naughty.
