'I Don't Care What Their Background Is'

An astonishing statement from the Mayor of New York City. That's New York, where Muslim terrorists flew planes into buildings and murdered 2800 people one morning eight years ago. Yet the Mayor of this city sees fit to sit down with people who support flying planes into buildings. There's nothing wrong with it, apparently.
Less than a week after the worst Islamist terror attack on American soil since 9/11, Mayor Bloomberg on Wednesday hosted at City Hall an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Astounding.

Brooklyn imam Siraj Wahhaj, who's also called FBI and CIA agents "terrorists" and testified at trial in the defense of convicted terror-plotter Omar Abdel Rahman, was one of several Muslim leaders hosted by Bloomberg to discuss a feared anti-Muslim backlash after the Fort Hood killings last week.

To be sure, Mike said yesterday that, had he known about Wahhaj's background, he wouldn't have invited him.

But he still defended the invitation.

Wahhaj "is the leader of a large mosque," he said. "We're going to reach out to everybody. I don't care what their background is. We do not want to have people in this city who feel that they are so estranged from the community that they start fighting the community."

But if federal prosecutors are to be believed, Wahhaj has been "fighting the community" for decades.
Considering Bloomberg's obsession with what people eat, would he welcome the owners of McDonalds and Burger King so warmly?

Previously.
