Assemblywoman Cleopatra Tucker (D-Essex) has withdrawn her proposal for a bill that would have required bicycles to be registered. As if having to go to DMV every four years to update a driver's license isn't enough fun, imagine the nightmare of registering every bicycle in your household annually. You really have to wonder if this woman is smoking crack.
“My intention was never to impose a burden or additional costs," Tucker said in a statement. "My goal was to at least begin a discussion of how best to protect elderly pedestrians. No idea is perfect, but protecting elderly pedestrians deserves attention."
If the proposed bill had been enacted, riders or their parents would plunk down up to $10 a year to register them with the Division of Motor Vehicles. And anyone caught riding a bicycle without a license plate on public property could face a fine of up to $100 for each offense.

When I was a kid, so very long long ago, I had to license my bike with the city. I would imagine that there are a good number of cities like that. State, No.
Why not have income taxes on kids' allowances too.
Cleopatra? Uh huh
You had to license it, or you had to register it? There's a huge difference.
WTF! The demorats aren't even being creative anymore in their attempts at reaching into our pockets and ROBBING US BLIND! They're just being stupid and blatant pigs and thieves these days and don't give a shit who calls them out on their crap.
And after doing a double take on the name and a little research on this sorry-ass cow I can see my pre-concieved notions were correct. Oh - she wouldn't be a progressive would she?
Cleopatra? - now just where the fuck is a poisonous Asp when you really need one?
