NEW South Wales police are investigating an attack on the Sydney office of the NSW Greens, in which excrement was smeared on the outside of the building and the locks were vandalised.
NSW Greens MP David Shoebridge condemned the attack on the party's unattended office on Eve St, Erskineville, which happened last night or early today.
He said Greens staff were confronted by the vandalism when they arrived for work in the morning, in what he described as a "very unpleasant way to start the week".
The attack was the first on the Greens inner-Sydney office, and came without any threat or warning.
Mr Shoebridge said he did not know who was behind the attack, or why the office had been targeted, but pointed to a highly critical opinion piece in today's Sydney Morning Herald which described the party as evil, hypocritical and "whoring".
"We are seeing a rising level of vitriol and anger in the political discourse here in NSW," Mr Shoebridge said.
"From talkback radio's unrestrained attacks on individual politicians to hateful opinion pieces in our major papers, this state needs to take a good hard look at the way we do politics.

A 'Very Unpleasant Way to Start the Week'
It's not every day you see the word poo in a headline.
