NJ School Superintendant 'Shocked' Female Teacher Sleeping With Student

I understand some of these administrators are a little slow up the draw, but I must wonder if Dr. Simon Bosco has turned on his television in, oh, the past ten years or so? If he did, he might have noticed a rash of female teachers sleeping with teenage boys.

They don't identify the kid, who's already graduated, probably much to his chagrin.
A drama teacher at Old Bridge High School has been arrested on charges that she had sex with a male student.

Lisa Glide, 35, of Howell, was charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison on just one of the charges.

Gilde was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Old Bridge Police Headquarters and is being held at Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick. Bail has yet to be set.

It was not known whether she has hired an attorney.

Christie Bevacqua, assistant Middlesex County prosecutor, said investigators learned of the relationship Nov. 25. She declined to say how they learned about the relationship or how long it lasted.

The boy was from 16 to 18 years old and a student of Glide's, she said, declining to release further details to protect the identity of the victim.

Glide, who is not married, started with the district in September 2004 as a drama teacher at the high school. She also served as an adviser for school plays and productions, directing "Father of the Bride'' this fall.

Before coming to Old Bridge, she worked in the Marlboro School District from 2001 to 2004 and as a teacher in Jersey City from 2000 to 2001, Bevacqua said.

Glide also worked as a substitute teacher with the Weehawken school district from 1999 to 2000.

In a letter sent to parents Thursday, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Simon Bosco said the district was "shocked to learn that a member of the high school staff has been accused of this serious crime.''

The letter said school officials conducted an internal investigation after being told of the charges, but found no evidence any staff member knew of the alleged relationship.
Neighbors were also stunned.

"Are you serious? That's disgusting. I'm appalled," said Charlie Poppiti, who has a child that attends the school.

While some parents didn't want to believe the allegations, others wanted action.

"They need to scrutinize the teaching staff better," said parent Jeff Olwell.

At the apartment where Glide lives alone, neighbors who knew her were stunned.

"Considering I have a daughter, it bothers me a little bit. You can't send your kids to school and let something happen like this, it's a little scary," said Steve Gibb.
