Occupy Portland Photo of the Day

From the same outfit that gave up the "Up Twinkles" comedy gold, now we've got some toothless moron showing his voter ID registration listing an encampment as a residence.
"We are here in hopes of creating an environment for change," said Jeff Billings, 57, who moved from a homeless camp in the Gateway neighborhood to the Occupy Portland camp soon after it went up. Last week, he registered to vote and listed "Southwest Fourth and Madison" as his address. "I like to say that we are a social experiment in chaos, and it's working."
Here's some of that chaos creating an environment for change.

What these freaks should be occupying is a dentist's chair.

Meth does that to teeth.

Yeah...it's working because of all of the goods and services the non-chatic society provides you on a daily basis.

That is a particularly cheap shot. Attack his politics. Fine. They stink. But his teeth? Maybe he couldn't afford to get them fixed. And obviously he declined welfare for the purpose. Which ought to be counted in his favor.

Sometimes I think my allies are hardly better than my enemies.

BTW I had to go without teeth for a while because I didn't have the money for plastic replacements. So it is a sore subject for me. And I paid for them myself. Thank you very much.

And you know he was on meth because? Maybe he had a "wife" who took him for everything he owned and 50% of his future gross.

The "encampment" as an address for voter registration? Can you say "voter fraud"?

That's meth.  No wife would ever let that happen in the first place.

His broken teeth do not point to meth, it points to tooth decay, and/or teeth knocked out. Crystal meth users are paranoid, they get bugged-out eyeballs, lot of them see bugs on their skin or they will pick at their own skin causing sores on their body.

An old man, homeless with no teeth isn't really that funny to me.   It's like I'm back in high school listening to the cheerleaders pick on the ugly girl that dresses badly.   The OWS crowd has plenty of 20 or 30 something, clueless morons to laugh out.  Pick on the able-bodied, iPad carrying hipsters.  Most of them have warm beds in their parent's basement.  Old homeless man doesn't.

No... I can't. I'm not at all nostalgic for the days when property ownership was required to vote.

You apparantly don't understand the reason why property ownership was required to vote.  In the early days of the US, virtually all taxes were property taxes of one kind or another.  Given that the American Revolution was against Taxation Without Representation, it was both rational and fair that voters---who choose those who set tax rates---be taxpayers.

There was---and is---nothing morally wrong with limiting voting on matters of taxation to those who pay taxes.

Some advocate a change in our system that allows a special vote each year on a flat tax rate that is proportionate to the amount of taxes paid---those who pay 10 times as much in taxes as the average person have a vote with ten times as much weight.  Once the tax rate were determined, our normal system would be used to determine how tax revenues were spent.

In this way, ALL would share in determining what the government did, but only those who pay taxes would determine how much would be paid.  This system is thought to be more compatible with the ideals of the American Revolution.

There IS something morally wrong with those who DON'T pay taxes electing those who will tax somebody else and send money to the non-taxpaying voters.  This is clearly a prescription for corruption.

What part of morality is it that you don't understand?

As a Southerner I took offence to the teeth remark...I had work done in Sicily in 1990 and because of shoddy work and my jaw becoming severly infected they had to pulll a number of teeth to drain the infection, am I sensitive to the subject, hell no, it is what it is. We sometimes cannot help our situations, and to immediately profile someone because of their teeth is a low shot and bad reporting. I'm a fiscal Conservative survivalist so I'm no whiny Liberal either....As far as the registration goes, it's good to see people taking advantage of their God gifted rights. And the reason we should have a residential address to vote is beause of the rampant voting fraud, or in the very least a picture ID which he may have had, we don't know that he doesn't? By the way meth users do not always have tooth decay, that can be asperated from poor dental hygene as well.

His bulbus nose and watery eyes DO point to alcoholism. If you are sick of Sammy and our elected city official not enforcing the laws we entrust them with, join this cite and let's show the mayor that shit-show does not represent the 99% in Portland!
