Hopefully whoever this is will show herself in public soon so we can judge how bad her "offense" was.

A British holidaymaker has been charged with indecency in Dubai after walking through the world's largest shopping centre in a bikini.

The woman was buying clothes and gifts in the Dubai Mall, fully dressed but in a low-cut top, when she was accosted by an Arabic woman and criticised for wearing 'revealing clothing'.

The pair then became embroiled in a heated row in front of hundreds of bemused shoppers.

Incensed by the Arabic woman's comments, the British woman told her to 'mind her own business' before stripping out of her clothes and 'taunting' the locals by walking around in only her bikini, it is alleged.

The mall's security team then intervened and called the police, who arrested the British holidaymaker.

The woman, whose identity is unknown, was still being questioned by officers in Bur Dubai police station last night.

A source within Dubai police said: 'The British woman was wearing a very low top and most of her legs were on display.

'The Arabic woman stopped to criticise her and that's when she stripped off. That's when things started to get out of hand.

'We ended up questioning both women after receiving a call from the mall security staff.'

There are numerous signs around the Dubai Mall urging women to 'wear respectful clothing-Similar messages are flashed up on LCD screens in most shopping malls across the United Arab Emirates.

Dubai, which attracts more than one million British tourists a year, tends to operate a more lenient policy than other Arab states.

Dubai Says Airport Body Scanners 'Contradict Islam'

I guess Islam doesn't contradict terrorism or mass murder. Well, as far as I'm concerned this gives us the green light to ban all flights going through Dubai, although it's doubtful that'll ever happen with the buffoons in charge of Homeland Security these days.

We wouldn't want to offend anyone.

Forget about London and France -- in Dubai, airport screeners won't be able to see your underpants.

Dubai police said full-body security scanners will not be used at the airports because the devices do not correspond with national customs and ethics, according to local press reports on Tuesday.

The scanners "contradict Islam," said Ahmad Mohammad Bin Thani, head of airport security. He said the idea was scrapped "out of respect for the privacy of individuals and their personal freedom."

The scanners will be replaced with other inspection systems that protect passengers' privacy, Thani said. He told the Gulf News that police are considering the use of face-recognition cameras.

Of course that will violate the "rights" of those wearing burqas, right?

Saudi Judge Busted for Drug Possession in Dubai

How amusing is this? I wonder if he can sentence himself to some lashes, or perhaps even the death penalty?

A SAUDI judge who served as head of an Islamic court has reportedly been arrested in the Gulf emirate of Dubai on charges of possessing and using drugs.

Hamad Salim bin Naif, who served as head of a sharia court in Saudi Arabia, was arrested along with his Moroccan wife after police raided their room in a Dubai hotel on Friday and found four grams of hashish in his possession, the Khaleej Times reported.

The judge confessed that he and his wife take drugs and said he brought the confiscated hashish from Saudi Arabia for their personal use, the English-language newspaper reported, citing a Dubai police source.

Sharia courts in Saudi Arabia impose tough penalties for drug-related charges, and drug trafficking is punishable by death in the ultra-conservative kingdom.

The United Arab Emirates, of which Dubai is a member, also imposes severe penalties for all drug-related offences.

It'll be curious to see if as a judge he's treater harsher than usual or with more leniency.

He'll probably have his wife take the fall for him.

Coming to Dubai: The Mo Museum

In a stunning display of tolerance and diversity, they'll be exhibiting the dreaded cartoons of blasphemy.

The Gulf emirate of Dubai has said it is to set up the world's first museum dedicated to the Prophet Muhammad.

It aims to shed light on his life in 7th Century Arabia, as well as his legacy for the world's 1.3bn Muslims.

There will also be a wing explaining the Muslim pilgrimage, or Hajj, and another for the other pillars of Islam.

No doubt there will be wings dedicated to the horrors of Abu Ghraib and Club Gitmo, and film exhibits by Geert Wilders.

Dubai, more usually known for its burgeoning commerce and tourism, is hoping to provide a bridge between the Islamic world and other countries.

The Prophet Muhammad Museum will be the first project undertaken by the Dubai Authority for Culture and Arts, which was established last week by the emirate in an attempt to widen its global appeal.

Those behind the plans for the new museum say it aims to shed light on the life and legacy of the man Muslims believe is the last messenger of God, as well as introducing the message of eternal love and peace they he [sic] gave the world.

Of course, that eternal love and peace is responsible for daily carnage on a global scale, but we won't mention that.

A father-of-three who was found with a microscopic speck of cannabis stuck to the bottom of one of his shoes has been sentenced to four years in a Dubai prison.

Keith Brown, a council youth development officer, was travelling through the United Arab Emirates on his way back to England when he was stopped as he walked through Dubai's main airport.

A search by customs officials uncovered a speck of cannabis weighing just 0.003g - so small it would be invisible to the naked eye and weighing less than a grain of sugar - on the tread of one of his shoes.

Dubai International Airport is a major hub for the Middle East and thousands of Britons pass through it every year to holiday in the glamorous beach and shopping haven.

But many of those tourists and business travellers are likely to be unaware of the strict zero-tolerance drugs policy in the UAE.

One man has even been jailed for possession of three poppy seeds left over from a bread roll he ate at Heathrow Airport. Painkiller codeine is also banned.

If suspicious of a traveller, customs officials can use high-tech equipment to uncover even the slightest trace of drugs.

Mr Brown was detained and arrested in September last year and has been held in a cell with three other men in the city prison ever since.

This week the youth worker, who has two young children and a partner at home in Smethwick, West Midlands, was sentenced to four years in prison.

A 25-year-old Briton who was found with a similar speck in one pocket as he arrived on holiday has been awaiting sentence since November.

Meanwhile a Big Brother TV executive has so far been held without charge for five days after being arrested for possessing the health supplement melatonin.
