One would think a guy like Harrison Ford would be content to sit at home collecting royalties and nailing Calista Flockhart. But no, why do that when you can indulge in some heavy doses of moral preening and exhort the great unwashed to save the planet? Coming on the heels of this latest global warming climate change scam being pulled off at the UN confab of thugs, despots and dictators this week, we found this gem in our in-box tonight.

President Obama‘s inspiring call for collaborative action by all governments to tackle climate change and poverty should be praised, but the US must also support protection of tropical forests if there is to be a meaningful climate agreement in Copenhagen, actor Harrison Ford said today.

Mr. Ford, speaking for Team Earth, a new organization that brings businesses, NGOs, governments and individuals together, to tackle environmental issues, said that Mr. Obama’s maiden speech to the UN was proof that the president understands that collaborative action – the central element of Team Earth’s strategy – is the key to solving the climate crisis. But he added that without forest conservation, emission cuts would be too small and would come too late.

President Obama told the UN General Assembly: “The danger posed by climate change cannot be denied, and our responsibility to meet it must not be deferred. If we continue down our current course, every member of this Assembly will see irreversible changes within their borders. Our efforts to end conflicts will be eclipsed by wars over refugees and resources. Development will be devastated by drought and famine. Land that human beings have lived on for millennia will disappear. Future generations will look back and wonder why we refused to act – why we failed to pass on intact the environment that was our inheritance.“

The president added that America alone could not solve the crises, but that the world must collaborate. This message mirrors the message of Team Earth: Unless we work together we cannot hope to succeed against the magnitude of the problems we face. Mr. Obama’s commitment to ensuring that America plays its part was also welcome, but must be supported by action.

Mr. Ford said: “The President is showing excellent leadership and making it clear that this is a problem that every nation must play its part in resolving, but without an explicit mention of forest protection in his speech to the UN, he has ignored the quickest and most effective means of reducing emissions. It is critical that the overall agreement at Copenhagen includes deep cuts in emissions from industry, but also that it recognizes that 20 per cent of the world’s emissions come from deforestation, and creates incentives to stop nations felling their forests."

Uh, yes it cn be denied, because it's a hoax, TelePrompterman. Claiming it cannot be denied doesn't make it a fact. It's disputed by scientists across the globe. Of course, using children to make the case might convince the gullible such as Harrison Ford, but it doesn't make it true.

Actor Harrison Ford, a Conservation International board member best known as the star of the "Indiana Jones" films, is supporting the effort, and told Reuters that large-scale cooperation was best.

"Our individual efforts have been fruitful but history shows that real change is not accomplished through individual efforts but through movements," Ford said, noting that governments and corporations must also be involved.

Team Earth will use social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter, along with its own site, to gather support for its causes, which also include climate change, water conservation and health.

Kooky Commies: Cate Blanchett a 'Running Dog of the CIA'

Seems like Cold War paranoia and delusions never quite ended on the Russian side. Apparently, these knuckleheads are having a difficult time distinguishing between reality and fiction. As in Cate Blanchett is an actress (by the way, from Australia, morons) and she's playing a role in a movie.

Come to think of it, these guys might have a future in comedy.

LEADERS of Russia's Communist party have condemned Australia's Cate Blanchett as a "second-rate actor" and a "running dog of the CIA", for her role in the new Indiana Jones film.

They say the movie is crude anti-Soviet propaganda that distorts history and have called for it to be banned from Russian screens.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull stars Harrison Ford as an archeologist in 1957 competing with an evil KGB agent, played by Cate Blanchett, to find a skull endowed with mystic powers.

"What galls is how together with America we defeated Hitler, and how we sympathised when Bin Laden hit them. But they go ahead and scare kids with Communists. These people have no shame," said Viktor Perov, a Communist Party member in Russia's second city of St Petersburg.

The comments were made at a local Communist party meeting and posted on its internet site www.kplo.ru.

The film, the fourth in the hugely successful Indiana Jones series, went on release in Russian cinemas yesterday. Russian media said it was being shown on 808 screens, the widest ever release for a Hollywood movie.

In past episodes Indiana Jones has escaped from Nazi soldiers, an Egyptian snake pit, a Bedouin swordsman and a child-enslaving Indian demigod.

"Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett (are) second-rate actors, serving as the running dogs of the CIA. We need to deprive these people of the right of entering the country," said another party member, Andrei Gindos.

Though the ranks of the once all-powerful Communist Party have dwindled since Soviet times, its members see themselves as the defenders of the achievements of the old Soviet Union.

Other communists said the generation born after the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union were being fed revisionist, Hollywood history. They advocated banning the Indiana Jones outright to prevent "ideological sabotage."

"Our movie-goers are teenagers who are completely unaware of what happened in 1957," St Peterburg Communist Party chief Sergei Malinkovich told Reuters.

"They will go to the cinema and will be sure that in 1957 we made trouble for the United States and almost started a nuclear war."

"It's rubbish ... In 1957 the communists did not run with crystal skulls throughout the US. Why should we agree to that sort of lie and let the West trick our youth?"
