Obamas in 2009: 'Hey, Give the Kids Some Privacy'; Obamas in 2010: 'Hey, Our Kids Have Braces, Dance to Hip-Hop and Want to Save the Tigers!'

After parading their kids all over the place during the election in 2008, the Obamas lamented their lack of privacy once they got to Washington.
During the interview, a candid Malia talked about decorating her new bedroom and giving her father advice on greeting her friends. Afterwards, Obama said the publicity hadn't been "healthy."
Well, forget that. Bet you didn't know their television and computer time and every other intimate detail of Malia and Sasha.
Twelve-year-old Malia Obama wears braces, toots a flute and is after her father to save the tigers. Younger sister Sasha, who is 9, shoots hoops like her basketball-loving dad and dances hip-hop.

Both girls get up at 6 a.m. to get ready for school.

Barack and Michelle Obama put their girls off-limits to the news media after they moved to the White House, saying they wanted to keep their daughters' lives as normal as possible. But tidbits about the private doings of the youngest children to live in the White House since the Kennedy family do dribble out. Often they come from a surprising source: Mom and Dad.
So as with everything they do, it's do as we say and forget what we said last year. Oh, and if you look at us cross-eyed, it's racist or you're picking on our kids.
The first lady is also guilty of breaching the privacy wall she and her husband put up around the girls.

"Malia's one issue for her father is saving the tigers," Mrs. Obama told an audience of young children visiting the White House. "So we talk about the tigers at least once a week and what he's doing to save the tigers." Tigers apparently are Malia's favorite creature.

Mrs. Obama also has revealed that:

_Both girls play the piano; Malia also plays the flute.

_Sasha likes to dance hip-hop. The girls also are working on their tennis game.

_They are not allowed to watch TV during the week, and weekend viewing is limited.

_The girls can only use the computer during the week if they need to for school assignments.

The White House says the Obamas are just behaving like, well, parents when they talk about Malia and Sasha.
That's all well and good, but don't go around using your kids as political pawns to drum up sympathy for dreadful public approval.

Random thought: How long until we see Save the Tigers legislation?

Obamas Play Miniature Golf, AP Gushes

Remember how the Obamas lectured us on leaving their kids alone, except for when they want to exploit them? Well, they're back to using their younger daughter for shameless photo ops.
Sasha Obama is proving that the president isn't the only golfer in the family.

On a family trip to a miniature golf course, 9-year-old Sasha hit a hole-in-one in front of the watchful eye of the media, and much to the delight of her father, an avid golfer. The president gave Sasha a high-five, and declared her stroke, "unbelievable."

The president followed up by making par with his two shots on the first hole.
Unprecedented! Why, has any kid ever in history gotten a hole-in-one playing mini-golf?

Check out the hops on Michelle Obama. She must get up at least an inch off the ground.

Tale of Two Obamas: Who's Telling the Truth About Sasha's Meningitis?

Geez, we hate to be so cynical here, but when you have these two fabricating tales and exploiting their children, we just have to ask the question.

Earlier today Michelle Obama gave us the heart-wrenching story about Sasha Obama at four months old and the fear she had meningitis, only to find out she didn't have meningitis. According to the New York Times, certainly not a racist right-wing organ:
In her speech, Mrs. Obama also told the story of how her daughter Sasha would not stop crying when she was 4 months old. A doctor’s visit revealed she might have meningitis; she ultimately did not, but the illness produced a scare.
Obviously a good thing the kid didn't have meningitis.

However, as an sharp-eyed Just a Grunt alerted me to, just last Thursday, Mrs. Obama's husband told a completely different story. Pay attention at the 2:40 mark.

He clearly says "when our youngest daughter Sasha was diagnosed with meningitis at three months old".

OK now, so today Mrs. Obama says she was four months old but fortunately did not have meningitis. Yet just eight days ago her husband said she was three months old and was diagnosed with meningitis.

Who are we to believe? I know the Obamas detest our medical profession, but can they please provide us with the medical diagnosis so we can sort out the truth? I know, I know, this is racist for me to ask, but since this was only seven or eight years ago, I'm sure these records are still on file, so we ask the Obamas to please provide the public with the medical records so we can get to the bottom of this mystery. It's pretty simple. Your daughter either was diagnosed with meningitis or she wasn't. If she was, one of you are lying. If she wasn't, one of you are lying.

Please clear this up for us. No doubt on one of the five news shows Barack is appearing on Sunday someone will ask for a clarification, right?

I distinctly recall the Obamas begging the media to not exploit their children all the while they were exploiting their children. Well, now that they've clearly been caught in contradictory tales, we ask that they please clarify for the public their latest tale told while exploiting their daughter.

Otherwise I might get to thinking they're making things up while exploiting their child.

Michelle Obama: Hey, Only I Can Cash In On My Kids

Oh, the indignity of it all. After a year of allowing the kids on Access Hollywood, magazine photo shoots, parading her girls front and center wherever she goes, now Michelle Obama is upset with a doll manufacturer for cashing in on the kids.
They’ve been in the White House less than a week, but the first daughters have already been co-opted by marketers — and Michelle Obama isn’t happy about it.

Ty, the toy company responsible for the popular Beanie Babies dolls, is now marketing “Sweet Sasha” and “Marvelous Malia” dolls.

The first lady’s office said Friday Ty was out of line. “We feel it is inappropriate to use young private citizens for marketing purposes,” said a spokeswoman for Michelle Obama in a statement.
You can bet she wouldn't be whining if she was getting a cut of the action.

I have news for Mrs. Obama. The kids aren't private citizens, whether you like it or not. You made the choice to exploit them and now someone else is cashing in.

Deal with it.

Meanwhile, even heroin dealers are swept up by Obamamania.
Sheriff's deputies and investigators have broken a heroin distribution ring that dished out narcotics across more than half of Sullivan County.

A total of five men and women were arrested Wednesday night following a three-month investigation, during which undercover police purchased decks of heroin from street dealers. Undersheriff Eric Chaboty said the dealers were selling heroin in towns that stretched from Monticello to Livingston Manor.

The alleged dealers were pushing a variety of heroin that they called "Obama." Chaboty said dealers are known to stamp the glassine wax paper that carries the heroin with brand names — like "Black Death" or "Blue Sunshine" — so that users can identify their preferred brands. This drug ring's stamp happened to carry the new president's surname.

Obamas Once Again Exploit Their Kids

A couple of weeks ago, the Obamas claimed they had second thoughts about pimping out their kids for a four-part Access Hollywood interview.

Apparently, that hasn't stopped them from exploiting the kids for a People Magazine spread. Get a load of this drivel.
"When some folks were attacking Michelle, Malia just asked, 'What was that all about?' and we talked it through," Barack Obama said, adding that it was fortunate that "she's completely confident about her mommy's wonderfulness."

"They have a wonderful life in Chicago," Barack Obama said. "So I'm sure there's a part of them that won't be heartbroken if things don't work out."

The Obamas rarely allow their daughters to be interviewed. After the television show "Access Hollywood" aired a report on the Obama children earlier this month, their father expressed regret for having agreed to it. "I don't think it's healthy and it's something that we'll be avoiding in the future," he later said.
Really?

So quoting Michelle Obama is now considered attacking her?

Man, these people have such thin skin.

Obamas Pimp Out the Kids for Access Hollywood

Next time you hear Barack or Michelle Obama whine about their kids not having any privacy, just remember they're willing to pimp them out to Access Hollywood.
In an Access Hollywood exclusive interview, Senator Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, along with daughters Malia, 10 and Sasha, 7 open up about rules, what it is like for friends to meet dad, communicating on the trail, potential plans for moving into the White House and more.

The four-part interview will air on Access Hollywood, Tuesday, July 8th,Wednesday, July 9th and Thursday, July 10th.

Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos caught up with the Obama family on the campaign trail in Butte, Montana to celebrate Malia’s 10th birthday and Independence Day.

Now that the Primary is over, the Obamas manage to get more family time together explains Michelle. “Barack is home at least once a week. We’re really doing family stuff. We are going on bike rides, going swimming and playing tennis.”
To be sure, it's all fluff and mindless drivel, but now that these two are eager to exploit their kids for television, I don't want to hear any crying from them when they can't get any privacy.
The Obamas have kept the girls out of the media spotlight, but Associated Press reports that they allowed "Access Hollywood" to talk with Malia and Sasha. Perhaps it's because interviewer Maria Menounos is no Tim Russert. If the excerpts sent out by the show are any guide, forget any talk of troop drawdowns or sky-high gas prices. Instead, think fashion and fun and Barack's old slacks.
