An ominous television ad commissioned by Mayor Bloomberg will soon blanket the airwaves - warning that Al Qaeda could exploit the so-called "gunshow loophole."

Bloomberg's anti-gun alliance raises the alar [sic] that terror thugs may be trying to buy powerful firearms within the U.S.

The 30-second ad, which debuts Tuesday, uses images from a June 3 video released by Al Qaeda that features its American-born spokesman Azzam Al-Amriki urging would-be jihadists to obtain their guns here.

"This is a golden opportunity," said Al-Amriki. "America is absolutely awash with easily obtainable firearms."

Indeed, especially if you're getting them from the ATF.

You suppose gun-grabber Mike Bloomberg is even aware of Gunwalker? Yet here the little tyrant uses the words of our enemy to score cheap political points. Shameless.

The commercial urges viewers to contact Congress to change the law, but some top Republicans on Capitol Hill have already dismissed the proposal.

"Simply because terrorists abuse our liberties doesn't mean that we should limit the rights of law-abiding Americans," Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, told the congressional newspaper The Hill after Al-Amriki's video first emerged.

Adam Gadahn Makes Final Democrat Campaign Pitch

We figure the flabby freakazoid has already sent in his absentee ballot as part of the Democratic Party early and often voting campaign.

Al Qaeda's American mouthpiece Saturday urged wannabe terrorists in a new video to act alone instead of trying to join cells attempting 9/11-type spectacular strikes.

Californian Adam Gadahn urged individual violent jihad in a 40-minute tape, which endorsed an Al Qaeda ally's call last week for sympathizers to mimic the Ft. Hood killings and attempted bombings over Detroit last Christmas and in Times Square in May.

"My brothers: know that Jihad is your duty," Gadahn ranted in Arabic. "You have an opportunity to strike the leaders of unbelief and retaliate against them on their own soil."

The message is significant because Osama Bin Laden's operational goal has long been to kill hundreds, if not thousands, in simultaneous multiple attacks on U.S. targets with cells of extremists - and Gadahn speaks for Al Qaeda.

Hmmm: Gadahn Not in Custody?

I had such high hopes the tubby terrorist was nabbed in Pakistan. Now CBS is reporting it wasn't him.

An "important Taliban militant" was arrested today in Pakistan. But that is where the confusion started.

Earlier it was reported by Pakistani media that intelligence agents had arrested Adam Gadahn, the American-born spokesman for al Qaeda, in an operation in the southern city of Karachi.

It was further reported by the Associated Press and Reuters that Gadahn had been arrested, sourcing security officials.

CBS News was told by sources in the Pakistan government that it was Gadahn, even after U.S. officials refused to confirm it was the California native for whom a $1 million reward has been posted.

Now, CBS News' Farhan Bokhari in Islamabad writes that earlier reports the detained individual was Gadahn proved false. According to a Pakistan security official who spoke with CBS News on condition of anonymity, the arrested individual is in fact "a Taliban militant leader who is known as Abu Yahya."

The official said evidence compiled from an interrogation of the suspect and information exchanged with U.S. officials verified the man's identify.

The reassessment only added to the confusion surrounding the arrest of a man earlier described by other unnamed Pakistani security officials as Gadahn.

"In the light of our latest information, I can say, this is not looking like Gadahn. But it is still the arrest of an important Taliban militant," said the Pakistani security official who spoke to CBS News late Sunday.

In addition, the FBI says it can't confirm reports of his arrest.

Update: Here's a report of an AQ commander arrested in Pakistan, although it isn't clear if this is Gadahn.

Pakistani security forces along with help of US intelligence arrested Abu Yahya Mujahdeen Al- Adam, who is a close associate of Osama Bin Laden. Abu Yahya was arrested on Sunday from an area surrounding the super highway, on the outskirts of Karachi.

Sources confirmed that the arrested militant commander has been shifted to Islamabad for further investigation.

Pennsylvania-born Abu Yahya is a US citizen and assumed to be a commander of foreign militants fighting in Afghanistan against the US. He was living with Osama Bin Ladin after 9/11 attacks in New York. His name is included in the top ten wanted on the CIA list.

Security agencies on Sunday arrested a close aide of Osama Bin Laden, Abu Yahya Azam. According to sources, the security agencies arrested Abu Yahaya Azam, a close aide and key Al-Qaeda commander during a raid in an area between Sohrab Goth and Noori Abad. Immediately after the arrest, he was shifted to Islamabad for further interrogation, sources added.
Two terrorists, including a key al-Qaeda commander, were arrested from Karachi, sources told Sunday. According to sources, security agencies raided a house located at Super Highway in Karachi, in which two people, including a commander linked with the al-Qaeda network, were arrested.
The arrested men include Commander Abu Yahya Azam, a close accomplice of Usama bin Laden. They were later shifted to some undisclosed location for further interrogation. Security forces during massive search operation in different areas of Hangu have arrested 21 suspected and have recovered arms and ammunition from their custody.

A top al-Qaida operative was captured in Pakistan, Pakistani newspapers reported Sunday, citing local sources.

An intelligence source later confirmed the report to NBC News, adding that the man arrested was Adam Yahiye Gadahn, a U.S.-born spokesman for the group. Photographs supplied to NBC of the detained suspect corroborated the source's account.

Gadahn was detained in Sohrab Goth, a suburb of Karachi, and was later moved to the capital Islamabad, the source added.

Adam Gadahn, the treasonous Californian Al Qaeda leader who has long been on Washington's Most Wanted list, was nabbed in Pakistan Sunday - a huge victory.

After some confusion in the intial reports, the Associated Press quoted Pakistani officials confirming the arrest.

Gadahn was bagged just hours after releasing a new internet video urging American Muslims to go on shooting sprees like Maj. Nidal Hasan's at Fort Hood last year.

He is the first American to be charged with treason since World War II.

If convicted, he faces the death penalty.

The arrest of Gadahn is a major victory in the U.S.-led battle against al-Qaida and will be taken as a sign that Pakistan is cooperating more fully with Washington. It follows the recent detentions of several Afghan Taliban commanders in Karachi.

Gadahn was arrested in the sprawling southern metropolis in recent days, two officers who took part in the operation said. A senior government official also confirmed the arrest.

The purpose of this video is to feed information to the western media that it is not Al Queda or Taliban that are killing innocent Muslims but rather those evil crusaders. This is part of the coordinated propaganda effort going on right now to get the masses riled up in Afghanistan. It is no coincidence that in the last few days you have seen stories blaming NATO and ISAF forces for the deaths of villagers recently in Afghanistan. In fact today there was a slew of articles repeating the notion that there was massive outrage over the killing of three civilians recently.

In the last couple of days there have been stories about soldiers dragging students out of a school and executing them and various other attacks. All of these type stories are fed to a willing media to spread and still the editors at places like the AP and Reuters never catch on to the game.

It is always the same. Spread the stories in the media, release a video tape or audio tape backing up the allegations, that while targeted to western audiences, are actually for consumption by the home crowd and then wait to see which ambulance chasing lawyer will take up their case and try to prosecute some soldiers.

This tactic has worked very well for them in the past. They have managed to get a Marine Special Forces unit removed from the theater without firing a shot. It has resulted in the restriction on the use of our firepower in certain areas resulting in increased causalities on our side while giving them more latitude to operate. Don't forget the pending case of the Navy SEAL's who are accused of roughing up a most wanted terrorist in Iraq. It is almost to the point where we have more service members and civilian contractors pending charges then we have prisoners at Gitmo.

I so want this guy to eat a Predator launched cruise missile or wind up on the receiving end of a .30 caliber appetizer.

Intelligence Sources Believe Adam Gadahn is Dead

We figured as much some time ago and this report seems to reinforce the notion that the lispy puke known as Adam Gadahn is worm food.

Months of attacks by unmanned US predator aircraft have caused carnage among the middle ranks of terrorist leaders in the lawless lands along the border with Afghanistan, where al-Qa'eda remains dangerous despite suffering a serious defeat in Iraq.

Their victims have included experienced Arab leaders and, it is now thought, Adam Gadahn, a former heavy-metal fan and so-called "killer computer nerd" originally from California. Nothing has been heard from him for months, leading intelligence experts to conclude that he may be dead.

Mr Gadahn has been credited with helping transform al-Qa'eda's al-Sahab propaganda wing into a slick operation which communicates in fluent English and produces professional quality DVDs, including one for Osama bin Laden last year.

But he may have fallen victim to an expanded programme of predator assassinations which in the last year has targeted and killed many of al-Qa'eda's military commanders, terrorist trainers and facilitators.

Jihadists around the world will be watching as closely as intelligence officials this week to see whether Mr Gadahn - also known as Azzam al-Ameriki - produces a new video message to mark September 11, as he has done every year since 2003.

If there is no message it will be taken as near certain confirmation that he is dead – killed either in a strike by Hellfire missiles, or perhaps by jihadi colleagues who have grown jealous of his success.

Mr Gadahn is now thought to have been killed in an attack launched from a remotely piloted aircraft in January which killed al-Qaeda's then military commander, Abu Laith al-Libi, in Mir Ali, Waziristan.

Al-Libi was the most prominent of a series of terrorist leaders to be killed in recent months. Abu Saeed al-Masri, who was implicated in attacks on Britain, was killed in July. Syrians, Somalis and Kuwaitis have also been killed.

Evan Kohlmann, an investigator with the Nine Eleven Finding Answers (Nefa) foundation which monitors terrorist groups, said: "Al-Qaeda acknowledges that several of its leaders have been taken out. There aren't that many experienced leaders left in the middle ranks and they are being replaced by younger guys with no credentials but lots of enthusiasm."

Adam Gadahn, the former Californian heavy-metal headbanger turned al-Qaida mouthpiece, has vexed American officials for four years with his bombastic, and sometimes threatening, video taunts. But now U.S. officials have launched an aggressive new media campaign to try to smoke him out. In ads that have been running on more than 30 radio stations in Afghanistan, the FBI and State Department ask for the public’s help in locating Gadahn--and in the process seem to taunt the 29-year-old.

The radio spots, obtained by NBC News, begin by stating: “Being a man means fighting for what is right, defending your family, your community and your country. Adam Yahiye Gadahn is not a man.”

Produced in Dari and Pashtu, languages spoken along the border with Pakistan, the ads continue: “Born American, he betrayed not only his family and his community but also his country. There is no way to trust someone who is willing to betray the very land they were born on. Now he is committing more atrocities against Afghanistan. Bring a traitor to justice; stop his atrocities from reaching you and your family."

The radio ads, complete with music, end by asking locals with information on Gadahn’s whereabouts to contact the U.S. Embassy’s Rewards for Justice office in Kabul. “If the information you provide leads to his capture, you may be entitled to a reward. For your safety, your call will be confidential,” the ads state.

Mike Darmiento is the Assistant Director of the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service, and oversees the Rewards for Justice program. NBC News spoke to Darmiento in his spacious office in Rosslyn, Va. He explained that, with all the rumors swirling around that Gadahn may have been killed by a Predator attack in February in North Waziristan, it was time to ferret out the truth.

"We had heard information that possibly he had been killed back in February. And we just decided it's time to really push this some more to see if we can develop some additional information and try to locate him once and for all," Darmiento said.

The U.S. Rewards for Justice program also has released wanted posters of Gadahn, and matchbooks emblazoned with his face that are being distributed in Afghanistan. Federal prosecutors indicted Gadahn for treason and for providing material support to al-Qaida in 2006, and the Rewards for Justice program is offering a reward of $1 million for information that leads to his arrest.

The State Department along with the Department of Diplomatic Security announced the beginning of a publicity campaign in Afghanistan urging locals to provide any information on Gadahn's whereabouts, with a reward if the information leads to his capture.

Radio advertisements with information concerning the $1 million reward have already begun airing. Additionally, printed materials including matchbooks, handbills and posters will be distributed throughout the region in the coming weeks in attempts to elicit cooperation from members of the Afghan community.

Is American al Qaeda member and indicted traitor Adam Gadahn dead? Shortly after a U.S. Predator drone attack killed Abu Laith al-Libi last month rumors began to circulate on Islamic message board that Gadahn had been one of those killed in the raid. Later, a Pakistani newspaper quoted "sources" saying Gadahn was killed.

NBC News also claimed that it had a source in Pakistan who was friends with Adam Gadahn and that Gadahn had disappeared after the Predator strike. Gadahn's friends, said the story, were worried about him.

Let's hope that's disappear. As in vaporized.

American Al Qaeda leader Adam Gadahn told his followers to welcome Bush "with bombs and traps" upon his upcoming visit to the Middle East this week.

"The occupied territories are awaiting their first visit by the crusader Bush and the mujahideen are also waiting for him," said Gadahn, a California native and now an Al Qaeda spokesman.

Gadahn is the star of the latest al Qaeda propaganda video to be posted online by the group's media wing, As Sahab.

In his newest dramatic gesture, Gadahn tore up his U.S. passport in protest of the imprisonment of fellow al Qaeda followers Abu Zubaydah, John Walker Lindh and Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman.

"I don't need it to travel anyway," he said afterwards.

Gadahn made reference to November's Annapolis conference of Middle Eastern leaders, saying it was a gathering of Bush's "loyal puppets." He said the United States has been "unmistakably defeated" in Iraq in Afghanistan and has lost the battle for hearts and minds "in spectacular fashion."

A wanted US member of Al Qaeda has warned in a new video that American interests and diplomatic missions are legitimate targets.

The warning posted on an American website that monitors terrorist groups says Al Qaeda will continue to target the US at home and abroad just as it targets at home and abroad.

Adam Gadahn, a convert to Islam who has been indicted for treason in the United States, says in the video that the Americans and their crusader allies must leave Muslims alone.
