'This May Be the Only Shovel-Ready Project in America'

Leave it to Dick Cheney to get in the best dig at the groundbreaking for the George W. Bush Library. Surely his good friends on the left will appreciate his biting sarcasm by wishing another heart attack on him.

The ceremony featured former vice president Dick Cheney, who made one of his first public appearances since heart surgery this year -- and who, in contrast to his former boss, couldn't resist taking a shot at Obama.

Citing the construction schedule of the library, Cheney said, "This may be the only shovel-ready project in America," using a phrase Obama used to describe stimulus bill items but later discarded.

Cheney, looking thinner, cited some of the positive reviews of Bush's book and said critical assessments of his presidency may be starting to change.

"History is beginning to come around," Cheney said.

Bush joked about the overtime 2000 election with Al Gore. He noted it was just over a decade ago that voters went to the polls -- and, "just under a decade ago, we just figured out the result." He said he's the only candidate "who won the same election five times."

Poor little Mikey Lupica. So heartbroken his hero Obama has turned out to be an empty suit. Still that doesn't deter him from going on some rant about Sarah Palin, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. Frankly, I'm amazed he somehow avoided taking a swipe at Rush Limbaugh for the BP mess. On the upside, even this most strident of Obama Kool-Aid slurpers has noticed the clay feet.

Barack Obama helps nobody, certainly not himself, biting his lip and doing some bad Bill Clinton impression. If he wants to channel a past President in his continuing response to the calamity in the Gulf of Mexico, it ought to be Harry Truman. Obama ought to start giving people hell instead of just talking about doing that.

The people in the gulf sure don't need an acting job from him, and a pretty bad acting job at that. Already over the past couple of months there have been too many times when the vacant look on the President's face has reminded you of a starlet trying to summon up the proper emotion to seeing something very, very sad.

Yesterday, Obama sent out another e-mail to the country, something else that helped him get elected. In it he is still trying to defend his administration's actions, as if somehow he knew from the jump that this explosion would poison the gulf for a generation.

"From the beginning, we have worked to deploy every tool at our disposal ..." the President writes.

No, he has not. This now sounds as pathetic as Bush desperately trying to bring himself back from "Heck of a job, Brownie." That ship has sailed, even as Obama talks about the 1,900 vessels he has in the water down there.

Then it's on to some cheap shots at the real enemies: The Republicans.

It is why the most shameless hypocrites on this thing, led by pep-squad captain Sarah Palin, are those from the "Drill, baby, drill" crowd. Most are hypocrites, anyway. The rest are probably criminals, those who have prospered in the culture of deregulation.

The rest are probably criminals. Nice to see thousands of people publicly indicted by a guy whose knowledge extends about two feet past the last locker room he's just inhabited.

So continue to give BP a much, much worse time, even after having spent too much time looking the other way on drilling like this the way Bush-Cheney did. Go after BP with every resource the government has, not just fines. Tell them that even if there are no criminal charges, they will never be allowed to drill so much as a golf hole in the waters of this country ever again.

Just wondering: How many major oil spills occurred during the evil Bush-Cheney reign?

Then hire a special prosecutor to look at every single step of the deregulation process of the past 20 years, all the way back to Clinton. The compassionate, feel-your-pain lip-biter.

Have that prosecutor finally disclose who participated in the National Energy Policy Development Group that Dick Cheney convened as vice president in 2001. Find out what special interests were represented and what deals were made and who might have gotten rich off them, just because nobody has been able to find out in nearly 10 years. Maybe a subpoena will make Cheney be more forthcoming.

I don't doubt for a second Obama and Holder would love to do just that. Anything to deflect attention from their incompetence.

One thing Lil' Mikey doesn't demand? That Obama give his BP money back. Probably has no clue about that, of course.

'Arrest That War Criminal!'

George W. Bush may be long gone from office, but that hasn't deterred the rag-tag far-left anti-war cranks from having a temper tantrum.

Thousands of protesters - many directing their anger squarely at President Barack Obama - marched through the nation's capital Saturday to urge immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.

At least eight people, including activist Cindy Sheehan, were arrested by U.S. Park Police at the end of the march, after laying coffins at a fence outside the White House. Friday marked the seventh anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

"Arrest that war criminal!" Sheehan shouted outside the White House before her arrest, referring to Obama.

At a rally before the march, Sheehan asked whether "the honeymoon was over with that war criminal in the White House" - an apparent reference to Obama - prompting moderate applause.

An apparent reference?

The protesters defied orders to clear the sidewalk on Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House and park police say they face charges of failure to obey a lawful order.

Others, meanwhile, are still feeling kind of hopey-changey.

Others were more conciliatory toward Obama. Shirley Allan of Silver Spring, Md., carried a sign that read, "President Obama We love you but we need to tell you! Your hands are getting bloody!! Stop it now."

Allan thought it was going too far to call Obama a war criminal but said she is deeply disappointed that the conflicts are continuing.

"He has to know it's unacceptable," Allan said. "I am absolutely disappointed."

The protest drew a smaller crowd than the tens of thousands who marched in 2006 and 2007.

Protesters stopped at the offices of military contractor Halliburton - where they tore apart an effigy of former Vice President and Halliburton Chief Executive Dick Cheney - the Mortgage Bankers Association and The Washington Post offices.

'Dick Cheney Wants to be Prosecuted'

Boy, do the loons come out of the woodwork every time Dick Cheney appears on television. And I'm not just talking about Joe Biden. Get a load of this insightful job of mindreading by some kook at Harper's.

Cheney told Jonathan Karl that he used his position within the National Security Council to advocate for the use of waterboarding and other torture techniques. Former CIA agent John Kiriakou and others have confirmed that when waterboarding was administered, it was only after receiving NSC clearance. Hence, Cheney was not speaking hypothetically but admitting his involvement in the process that led to decisions to waterboard in at least three cases.

What prosecutor can look away when a perpetrator mocks the law itself and revels in his role in violating it? Such cases cry out for prosecution. Dick Cheney wants to be prosecuted. And prosecutors should give him what he wants.

Prosecuting Cheney is sure to be a political winner. Speaking of kooks, this one calls Cheney a war criminal.

The fever swamps are salivating.

Cheney Visits Baghdad; HuffPost Ghouls Unhinged

Vice President Dick Cheney made an unannounced visit to Iraq today marking the five-year anniversary of the war in Iraq.

Vice President Cheney made an unannounced visit to Baghdad this morning, just two days before the five-year anniversary of the start of the war, to push Iraqi leaders to do more to resolve the political disputes still driving the conflict.

In his first trip to Iraq since the deployment of additional U.S. forces last summer began to turn the security situation around, Cheney arrived aboard a C-17 military transport about 12:45 a.m. Monday Washington time and headed immediately to a series of meetings with U.S. commanders and Iraqi leaders.

A senior official traveling with Cheney told reporters aboard his plane that the vice president was going to meet with Iraqi leaders to "thank them for the hard work they've done" and urge them to move ahead with "the rest of the hard work necessary to consolidate Iraq's democracy," according to a pool report filed once they arrived in Baghdad. Cheney also will discuss a long-term security agreement intended to outlive the Bush presidency, the official said.

The previously undisclosed stop in Baghdad opened what will be a week-long trip to the Middle East. The vice president will visit Israel and the West Bank to try to get a fractured peace process back on track, and travel to Saudi Arabia, where he likely will urge the kingdom's leaders to increase oil production now that crude is selling for as much as $110 a barrel. He also has stops scheduled in Oman and Turkey.

Naturally, news of this visit has the maniacs at the Huffington Post wishing him ill.

Isn"t it said that a criminal returns to the scene of his crime? Now this particular criminal, our snarling civilian warrior Cheney, will have to do a lot of traveling to take in all the scenes of his crimes in Iraq. I wonder if he"ll be visiting any of the graves of the thousands of dead children he insisted on killing, or is that being needlessly unfair of me, because they were, after all, merely unintended collateral damage? I"ve heard that this snarling civilian warrior of ours loves hunting ducks and such beasts - for some people, dead things are quite pleasurable - and so he must be overflowing with orgasmic pleasure at the thought of all the dead he, yes, he, insisted on making that way - that is, dead - tens of thousands of them. And just think, these dead aren"t ducks, they"re people, so how much keener his pleasure must be. The only sad thing for him - and of course I"m only speculating - is that he"ll have to share his necrophilia with people like Rumsfeld and his putative boss Bush and all those neocons and such. Well, perhaps that isn"t so bad since there are so many dead to go around, and this above all must be remembered - the one thing thicker than blood is oil, and in Iraq there"s lots of it, believe me!

Lets see..Cheney says its good to be back in Iraq and Bush says if he wasn't President..he'd love to be on the front lines in Afghanistan...fighting the Taliban because its, well, it seems almost romantic. I wonder how romantic it would seem to Bush without his legs, without his arms..condemned to a wheel chair for life... .....My dream for Bush and Cheney is to see them both in FEDERAL PRISON...rotting away in obscurity. Gruel to eat.

I am not sure exactly what happened to McCain during his 5 years as a prisoner at the Hanoi Hilton but he definitely seems psychologically unbalanced.

I realize he was pretty much a mindless advocate for war before he got shot down over Vietnam but his singing of the Beach Boys song Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran is very, very telling.

He appears to be a dangerous warmonger who has no interest in diplomacy except maybe bully diplomacy where countries do exactly what America demands or face the wrath of our Shock and Awe.

Either McCain is a senile old man who does not know right from wrong or he is the most vicious, conniving, ruthless barbarian America has ever produced, since G. W. Bush.

This is just what America needs, another 8 years of going backwards into the Stone Age, a treacherous bigoted advocate of war occupying the white house, a foreign policy that terrorizes the world and domestic policies that favor a small portion of our population.

Obama please help return America to a voice of reason and Hope, and take this country back from the maniacal war faction advocates that have dominated our foreign policy and are helping to destroy our great country.
