Schumer and Durbin Admit Democrats Won't Vote for Obama's Tax Increases

Left unmentioned for the most part by the media is the fact Democrats have to defend 23 Senate seats in 2012, and with Barack Obama at the top of the ticket many of them realize they're going down with the sinking ship. So if any of them are to survive they understand one thing: Do not, under any circumstances, commit political suicide by voting for a massive, job-killing tax increase.

New York's senior senator said even the Democratic-controlled U.S. Senate was balking at paying for President Obama's jobs bill.

"The main hangup is not the jobs bill itself," Sen. Charles Schumer said Sunday. Obama has been calling on lawmakers to pass his $447 billion jobs bill in nearly every speech for almost a month and proposed paying for it with spending cuts, tax hikes on the wealthy and closing corporate tax loopholes.

"After [Obama] announced the jobs bill ... he proposed ways of paying for it that are probably not the best way to garner the votes," Schumer said.

But like a schmuck, you stood there and cheered him on, Chuckie.

Republican leaders in the House had been vocal arguing that now was not the time to raise any taxes. And Senate Majority Whip Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) has said that Democratic senators standing for election won't vote for a tax increase - "even on the wealthiest people."

So there's no hope Obama's tax increases pass and Democrats won't even bring it up for a vote. But the clown in the White House is still running around to daily fundraisers demanding it be passed.

Be assured it won't.

Dick Durbin's Fuzzy Math

The Democrats can't even get their math right when they're having a temper tantrum.

The second most powerful Democrat in the Senate warned Republicans Sunday that they are toying with a fragile economy and would take the blame for any fallout from a debt default.

On Sunday, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said he had six words of warning for House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio): “If you break it, you own it.”

Um, isn't that seven words, Dick?

Delusional Democrats: Spending Cuts Will Cause Higher Gas Prices or Something

These are the people who've spent trillions the past few years and delivered, well, nothing. The GOP tries to whack a few bucks off the budget and there's panic in the Senate. Now it's just getting stupid.

Senate Democrats are accusing Republicans of pushing spending cuts that will lead to higher energy prices.

In a letter Tuesday to House and Senate GOP leaders, the bulk of the caucus, including its leaders, take aim at House-passed spending legislation that would cut funding for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which polices oil futures markets.

“As we work toward a long-term budget compromise to keep the government running through this year, we urge you to abandon the reckless energy proposals in the House-passed Continuing Resolution (H.R 1) that will condemn our country to continued reliance on foreign oil and allow market manipulation that could lead to gas prices rising unchecked,” states the letter from 48 Democrats, including Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and other Democratic leaders.

Of course we could drill for our own oil here in America and reduce gas prices, but the Democrats won't allow that.

In 2008, President Bush called for increased offshore drilling. Said Harry Reid at the time:

Democratic leaders in Congress said the plan is going nowhere. "President Bush and John McCain are not serious about addressing gas prices," said Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.). "If they were, they would stop offering the same old ideas meant to pad the pockets of Big Oil and work with Democrats to reduce our dependence on oil."

Dick 'Our Troops Are Nazis' Durbin: Hey, Let's Tone Down the Political Rhetoric

Sure, Dick, by all means, let's tone it down. It's not like as if you're the kid of guy who compares our troops to Nazis and Pol Pot. Oh, wait...

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) called for a ratcheting down of political rhetoric following the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) in Tucson, Ariz., Saturday.

"We live in a world of violent images and violent words, but those of us in public life ... should be thoughtful in response to this," the Senate majority whip said on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday. "We owe it to our own in both political parties to at least have the good sense and common decency ... to say, 'Wait a minute that just goes too far,' whether it's from the right or the left."

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) responded by saying there shouldn't be a rush to assign political motives to a "deranged individual."

"He read Karl Marx, he read Hitler," the chairman of the Senate Republican Conference said. "That's not the profile of a typical Tea Party member, that's the inference that's being made."

Yeah, why let facts get in the way of a conservative-bashing orgy.

Dick Durbin to Make Hollywood Debut

Appropriately, the unctuous senior senator from Illinois will make his big screen debut in a Matt Damon film involving an air-borne virus. They should name the movie Liberalism.

Coming soon to a movie theater near you: Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who makes his Hollywood debut on Tuesday in Chicago.

According to the Associated Press, Durbin will play himself in the film "Contagion," directed by Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh. The film is about a deadly air-borne virus.

Alongside Durbin are a cast of A-list actors, including Matt Damon, Jude Law, Laurence Fishburne, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet.

Durbin will film his scene with Fishburne in a mock Senate hearing room, and the lawmaker will have one line of dialogue.

Durbin and Lugar Spit On Legal Immigrants

Might as well keep the Durbin bashing up. While researching the previous post about Durbin being subpoenaed in the Blagojevich trial I came across a story where he along with REPUBLICAN senator Richard Lugar of Indiana are asking Janet Nimconcoop to grant amnesty to illegal foreign students. What I found odd, besides the obvious, in their requests was the conditions they gave for granting this immunity.

Illinois Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin and Indiana Republican Sen. Richard Lugar, who made the request in a letter to Napolitano Wednesday, are pushing a bill that would grant legal status to students who came to the U.S. before the age of 15, have no criminal records, and completed schooling or military service. It would not extend protection to illegal immigrant parents.

Yo, idiots. Illegal immigrants can not serve in the military. A background check is done during the enlistment process to verify citizenship. You must be in the country legally.

You know for a guy who compared our troops to Nazi Stormtroopers and members of the Pol Pot regime he seems to think these are just the qualifications you need now to be granted amnesty. Talk about political expediency.

It is just wrong to grant a special status to people who come to this country illegally while thousands of others try to abide by the rules and wait years to be given citizenship so that they can pursue what previously used to be known as the American dream. I am not quite sure what that dream is nowadays.

We are in the best of hands. Oh and Indiana, you have a problem.

Dick "The Turban" Durbin Subpoenaed In Blagojevich Trial

And the hits just keep on coming for the Democrats.

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin says he's been subpoenaed by Rod Blagojevich's defense attorneys to testify at the ousted Illinois governor's upcoming corruption trial.

Durbin discussed the subpoena during an appearance in Chicago on Friday — a day after Blagojevich's lawyers asked a federal judge to issue a subpoena to force President Barack Obama to testify.

Now Obama needs to get worried. Durbin is spineless wonder and if the prosecutors get on the right train of questioning Barack could find himself on the same side of the bus he has thrown so many others under.

Hey Barry, starting to feel a little heat? Durbin was one of the first to beg Obama to run for president. If you played real close attention to that url of the petition you have seen it was from George Washington University in Washington D.C.

Dick also took some heat when he called for the resignation of Roland Burris, whom Blagojevich appointed to take over the empty seat of Obama in the Senate. It is a sordid and tangled web of deceit and corruption in Illinois politics and this trial could prove to be an interesting sideshow to the upcoming rerun season on television.

Durbin Suffering Memory Loss

This is precious. Dick "The Turban" Durbin is criticizing Republican lawmakers for the coarsening language in the debate. Durbin of course is a victim of some sort of memory loss. Let's jut refresh the senators memory by replaying the speech he made on the floor of the Senate in 2007 comparing our troops to Nazi storm troopers and enforcers from the Pol Pot regime.



Maybe Mr Durbin's real issue is with somebody praying.

One last question for Mr Durbin. Under the Democrat healthcare bill, IF senators had to abide by the same rules it contains for the rest of America, would Mr Byrd be allowed access to the current level of medical care he is receiving now, or would his doctor be giving him end of life counseling and appraising of him of his options?

Durbin: Club Gitmo Detainees in Illinois 'A Dream Come True'

We realize Illinois Senator Dick Durbin has to somehow spin this as a positive for his state, but isn't it just a wee bit of a stretch to call importing hundreds of terrorists into your state as a dream come true? Somehow I suspect a lot of folks in Illinois think it's a nightmare.

An Illinois prison that may house terrorism suspects now at Guantanamo will be inspected by a federal team today, a day after Gov. Quinn and Sen. Dick Durbin stumped for the plan -- calling it "a dream come true."

Quinn and Durbin, who have been working quietly with the White House on the proposal to sell the nearly vacant Thomson Correctional Center to the federal government, held news conferences in Chicago, Moline and Rockford. They argued that a revived Thomson could bring in $1 billion in development and up to 3,000 jobs to the economically strapped northwest part of the state.

The proposal calls for about 100 Guantanamo detainees to be transferred to the 1,600-inmate prison, with federal prisons accounting for the rest of the population.

The Quinn and Durbin news conferences were coordinated with the White House in advance of the site visit, part of a public relations blitz to sell the public on President Obama's plan to relocate the detainees in the United States. Thomson is one of several sites under consideration. Obama has vowed to close the Cuban prison.

Durbin said opponents -- mainly Republicans -- are "unfortunately sowing the seeds of fear among people, and it's totally wrong.

Yes, sowing the seeds of fear, like calling guards at Club Gitmo Nazis and invoking images of Pol Pot and Soviet gulags.

Meanwhile, it seems like Obama's "public relations blitz," especially when it comes to holding 9/11 trials in Manhattan, isn't exactly winning over even his most strident supporters.

Major Democrat Fundraiser Charged With Fraud

Democrats and fraud, perfect together. And in what should be considered a stunning development, the word Democrat actually appears in the Reuters headline.

The U.S. attorney in New York on Tuesday charged a New York investor and major Democratic fund-raiser with a $74 million scheme to defraud Citigroup Inc (C.N).

Hassan Nemazee, 59, was charged with one count of bank fraud, and faces up to 30 years in prison plus a fine. His lawyer Marc Mukasey, a former federal prosecutor, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Nemazee was a national finance chair of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign, and a supporter of John Kerry's run for the White House in 2004.

He typically donates more than $100,000 annually to Democratic political candidates, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senator Charles Schumer, and sits on the board of the Iranian American Political Action Committee .

Bill Clinton, when he was president, nominated Nemazee to be U.S. ambassador to Argentina.

Prosecutors said Nemazee, the chairman and chief executive of Nemazee Capital Corp, sought to induce Citigroup's banking unit to lend up to $74 million based on fraudulent and forged documents suggesting that he had hundreds of millions of dollars of accounts available as collateral.

They said Nemazee also provided Citigroup with fake references so that when the bank would try to confirm details about his accounts, it would actually be contacting him. The scheme lasted from December 2006 to this month, the prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said federal agents stopped him on Sunday at Newark Liberty International Airport as he prepared to board a flight to Rome, and that he repaid a more than $74 million loan to Citigroup the following day.

Sounds like he was going to abscond like another Clinton pal, Marc Rich.

Chuckie Schumer ought to be pleased to find out another of his major fundraisers now faces prison, just like his pal Bernie Madoff.

In addition to Nemazee and the now-imprisoned Norman Hsu, I wonder how many other criminal fundraisers were helping Hillary Clinton?

Desperate Dingy Harry: GOP 'run by a talk show host'

The unraveling continues. Dingy Harry Reid, the Dim Bulb from Searchlight, has never gotten over Rush Limbaugh handing him his lunch back in 2007 and today sinks into the gutter of sewage enveloping the Democrats as they watch all their grandiose plans evaporate before their eyes. When all else is failing, play the Limbaugh card.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid launched his harshest attack on the Republican Party in months, claiming the GOP is "being run by a talk show host."

Reid, armed with a patch of Astroturf, slammed Republicans for sponsoring town hall attacks on Democrats and accused the party of waging a barricade on Democratic efforts to pass health care reform legislation.

"I just want to show you what Astroturf really is," Reid said to laughter. "They're taking their cues from talk show hosts, internet rumor mongers, and insurance rackets."

"I just think, as I've said before, it's not often that you try to blow yourself up, but that's obviously what they're trying to do with all this vexatious stuff they're doing with these meetings, the birthers. It's a party being run by a talk show host," Reid said.

"These guys don't care about you," Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin said of the town hall protesters. "They care about YouTube."

"We can spot a winger," Durbin said.

We can also spots frauds, Dick. Funny, the guy who compared our soldiers to Nazis and Pol Pot saying Republicans don't care about people.

Burris Likely To Be Seated

As the Roland Burris fiasco continues to spiral into a huge embarrassment for Democrats, it appears opposition is crumbling and he'll be accepted.

Former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris is closer to taking President-elect Barack Obama's seat in the Senate, say knowledgeable officials in both parties, despite Democratic leaders' vows to reject any appointee of Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

After being rejected Tuesday when he tried to join the class of incoming freshmen senators, Burris is finding new support on Capitol Hill as Democratic leaders scramble for a way to defuse the standoff with growing racial, political and legal complications.

The likelihood that Burris, a Democrat, will eventually prevail and become the Senate's only black member after Obama's resignation from the seat, increased Tuesday evening when a key chairwoman got behind him, cracking what had been united public front by Senate Democrats against a Blagojevich appointee.

Burris was scheduled to meet with the Senate's top two Democrats — Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and assistant leader Dick Durbin of Illinois — on Wednesday, a day after his paperwork was rejected at the opening of the 111th Congress.

For all the bluster, bravado and photo ops shown blocking Burris, this demonstrate conclusively the buffoonish ineptitude of Senate Democrats and Dingy Harry Reid in particular.

CHICAGO -- Sen. Dick Durbin, Illinois Democrat had to skip his planned remarks here at the Yearly Kos convention because he was stuck in Washington for votes.

But he sent some video love -- complete with red meat -- to the crowd.

"I wish I could be with you," he said. "You're really changing the Democratic party and you're changing America for the better.

He joked that Karl Rove's nickname for columnist Bob Novak is "speed dial No. 3."

Organizers said the convention, inspired by prominent liberal blog Daily Kos, boasts 1,400 attendees.

Durbin lauded the "brave bloggers" in the crowd for helping force John Bolton to resign and exposing the White House's role in the Valerie Plame scandal.

"If it weren't for the progressive netroots I wouldn't be assistant majority leader," he added, and the crowd whooped.

Air America host Sam Seder riled up the Kossacks by poking at Fox's Bill O'Reilly.

"I'm going to have to disagree with Bill O'Reilly -- you don't look hateful or crazy and thank god you're not the Ku Klux Klan," he said, to big cheers, going on to ridicule the sexual harassment claims against O'Reilly.

Little Dick Wants to Hush Rush

All you need to know about the absurd notion of reinstating the Fairness Doctrine is this disingenuous line from Little Dick Durbin (D-Caracas).

“It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine,” said Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.). “I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they’re in a better position to make a decision.”

Well sorry, Dick, but I have an old-fashioned attitude that when Americans seek to silence other Americans, it's very un-American.

It's pretty clear that all they want to do is shut down talk radio because they don't control it. The left overwhelmingly controls television, newspapers, academia and has made inroads on the Internet, where virtually anything goes.

They are unable to compete in talk radio because their ideas have failed, they're boring, and have no sense of humor.

So because a whiny puke like Little Dick Durbin thinks we're not hearing "both sides" (really, what planet is he living on?), we're supposed to shut down an industry?
