Updated information regarding Matt Maupin

For those unfamiliar with the name Matt Maupin, he was the American soldier who was kidnapped in Iraq 4 years ago and whose remains were recovered recently. This is from an email I received from the Gathering of Eagles.

Army officials have told the parents of Staff Sgt. Matt Maupin that some of the Iraqis believed to be responsible for their son’s capture four years ago are in custody.

“I know that there are at least two who are supposed to be put on trial, if they haven’t been already,’’ said Keith Maupin, father of the Union Township soldier whose remains were found March 20 in Iraq by U.S. soldiers, nearly four years after he was captured in a convoy attack near the Baghdad airport.

Keith Maupin and the soldier’s mother, Carolyn Maupin, left Cincinnati Wednesday afternoon for Washington, D.C., where they will have a full day of briefings from Pentagon officials on their son’s disappearance.

The soldier’s father said he expects to learn more Thursday about the Iraqi insurgents believed to be responsible for the then-20-year- old Army reservist’s capture; and more about how and when their son died.

They also will have a video conference with soldiers from the 1st battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment who discovered Sgt. Maupin’s remains on March 20 northwest of Baghdad, working on a tip from an Iraqi civilian.

Keith Maupin said he was told by Army officials soon after the remains discovered that some of those believed responsible for their son’s capture and death had been detained. He doesn’t know their status, but believes that if they are found guilty, they will be executed under Iraqi law.

The Maupins plan to return to Cincinnati on Friday to continue with planning for their son’s visitation and funeral. Plans are for the soldier’s remains, now at the Armed Forces Medical Examiners office in Maryland, to be flown into Lunken Airport sometime between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 26. At 8:30, a procession bearing his coffin will depart Lunken and follow State Route 32 to Eastgate, where it will turn on to Glen Este-Withamsville Road and pass the fallen soldier’s high school, Glen Este High School, and the Union Township Veterans Memorial Park before moving on to the Union Township Civic Center on Aicholz Road.

There, a visitation will be held from 11 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday, April 27. From there, the casket will be taken to Great American Ball Park downtown for a 1 p.m. funeral service. A private burial ceremony will take place later that afternoon at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery.

National Heroes Tour at Ft Bragg, NC

The National Heroes Tour made one of its' last stops last night at Ft Bragg, NC, home of the 82nd Airborne and the Special Forces Command, and a very appropriate stop for these heroes. Monday and Tuesday they will in Washington DC to show their support of Gen Petraeus along with members of the Gathering of Eagles, Move America Forward, Vets For Freedom and Vets for Victory.
Here courtesy of Jim Hanson, Uncle Jimbo from Blackfive is the video of that stop.

I know this is a rather lengthy video, 50 minutes in duration, so if you don't want to watch the whole thing fine, it is your loss. You absolutely must set aside time to watch these folks and listen to their stories, but at a very minimum go to the 45 minute mark and listen to LTC Steven Russell sum it up.
I heard one comment about the low turnout again! To me that has been the big national disgrace associated with this tour. Why they are not talking to filled stadiums is beyond me and it is causing me to reconsider where our country is when these heroes can not draw larger crowds then they do and the total lack of any sort of national press coverage this tour has garnered. Maybe David Bellavia has it right, if only somebody on the tour had won 5 golf tournaments in a row like Tiger Woods they would be getting more attention.

Patriots taking a walk

Jonn Lilyea over at This Ain't Hell... has a good round up of the march held today in DC by the folks from Gathering of Eagles and Move America Forward. Unless the sight of the American flags flying in the breeze and the inspiring words of our veterans past and current cause you to go into epileptic fits it is well worth taking the time to check it out.

I've been a little busy with all of the severe weather down here in the Atlanta area today.

Anti-War Propaganda Fest Begins in Washington Today

In an attempt to once again push their agenda into the spotlight, since the surge has not only quieted down the insurgents in Iraq but has also had a devastating effect on the insurgents at home, the group Iraqi Veterans Against the War, whose members include several discredited veterans who have all had their 15 minutes of fame by being used as lackeys of an all too willing press corp and have spun incredible tales mostly uttered by drunken soldiers trying to impress the girls in a bar at 2 AM, is launching their so called Winter Soldiers II conference starting today and running through Sunday March 16.

I don't know of anybody, other then those living in a complete bubble that do not have at least a passing acquaintance of the first Winter Soldiers meeting, that included such luminaries as John F Kerry (D-MA) and included "sworn" testimony by people who had never served or if they did serve were never in Vietnam, and were filled so many stories of crimes and atrocities that it helped to convince the American people that it was better to leave 2 million people to suffer death and torture at the hands of the Viet Cong then to try and finish them off.

Facts are facts and that is exactly what happened when we left Vietnam and something you are not likely to hear about in government schools when being taught the lessons of Vietnam.

I have delayed writing about this because I didn't want to give these unhinged social outcasts any free publicity in the run up to the event. Feelings among that group are running high as evidenced by the threats issued by, now a former member of this group, against the Gathering of Eagles group and Michelle Malkin in particular.

The individuals that these sorry pieces of humanity inspire are all over the web planning to take over recruiting stations and threatening other acts of violence against any who would dare question them or speak out against them.

Here is the IVAW agenda this weekend. Take a few minutes to review it and see if there are any liberal talking points regarding racism or poverty that they left out. These folks align with MoveOn and other such organizations.

In scanning the agenda I saw a lot of our old friends, those who have been debunked on the web but never in the mass market media.

The event kicks off tonight at 7 PM with the first real day being Friday. Follow it if you wish but more importantly follow who reports upon it. Liberals no doubt want to get the news of that politician in New York of an undetermined political party off the front page and out of the evening news.

Thanks to Charles for the link and welcome to all the lizards from LGF.

Moonbat Roundup in DC

It was a motley gathering of anarchists, 60s leftovers, Communist groups and other assorted human debris Saturday in Washington, and up to 150 pieces of scum wound up arrested.

Of course, the ubiquitous Mother Sheehan was on hand.

More than 150 arrested at Iraq protest
WASHINGTON - Thousands of protesters marched Saturday from the White House to the Capitol to demand an end to the Iraq war, leading to the arrests of at least 150 people.

Many of the protesters were arrested without a struggle after they jumped over a barricade near the base of the Capitol. But some grew angry as police attempted to push them back using large black shields and a chemical spray. Protesters responded by throwing signs and chanting: "Shame on you."

Before arriving at the Capitol lawn, the demonstrators marched on Pennsylvania Avenue holding banners and signs and saying, "What do we want? Troops out. When do we want it? Now."

Counterprotesters lined the sidewalks behind metal barricades. There were some heated shouting matches between the two sides.

At the Capitol lawn, some protesters lay down with signs on top of their bodies to represent soldiers killed in Iraq.

The protesters gathered earlier Saturday near the White House in Lafayette Park with signs saying "End the war now" and calling for President Bush's impeachment. The rally was organized by the ANSWER Coalition and other groups.

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan told the crowd is was time to be assertive.

"It's time to lay our bodies on the line and say we've had enough," she said. "It's time to shut this city down."
For sane coverage of the today's event, Michelle Malkin has been with the Gathering of Eagles. Needless to say, it's a much different picture than the one painted by AP.
Update 5:00pm Eastern. Well, they came, they spewed, they cursed. Several thousand Soros marchers descended on the Capitol yelling “Fuck Bush” and “Fuck you” at Gold Star Families. As Capitol Hill police arrested the “die-in” participants, young peaceniks shouted “What does a pig look like? The Capitol police” and “Oink! Oink! Oink.” Others shrieked about “Fascism!” and gleefully performed “Sieg Heil” salutes. We’ll have video from the midst of the moonbats. Across from Taft Park, some anti-American demonstrators waving a large, upside-down American flag and pulling a coffin with Army boots got in a scuffle with Eagles. We’ll have that video of that as well.

The Gathering of Eagles is set to ANSWER MoveOn

By now everybody has heard of the moveon ad, they have seen the antics of the Code Pinko post menopausal hippies and they have heard of the desecration of the Vietnam War Memorial but have you heard about those who are staging their own demonstration to counter these people? The overall event is called a Gathering of Eagles, but it involves several groups, quite a few of them made up of veterans of all stripes and generations. We are fed up with the rabble rousers on the left who continue to spout false statements and act like spoiled 5 year olds in the store when mommy tells them no, who are trying to relive their heydays from the 60's.
Even today they are getting the headlines with no mention of the pro military folks who are descending on Washington DC in an attempt to make their voices heard. Michelle Malkin has posted several times on this, and while the crybabies on the left have 40 years of experience in these types of things, the last time the eagles gathered they managed to severely blunt the actions of these anti American groups using the shield of being anti-war to give themselves credibility.
If you can make it bravo, if not make sure to support those who can. Vets For Freedom has been executing their plan for getting their message to those who live within the Beltway and seem to be so disconnected from the average American on everything from the illegal immigration issue to what is actually happening in Iraq.
Ruck up guys, and give 'em hell!
