Ralph Nader Doesn't Want Your Kid To Go To College

Yeah Ralph, college athletic scholarships are the single most important and pressing problem facing this country. Granted anybody attending an SEC school on an athletic scholarship is probably dumber then a box of rocks but c'mon it at least provides a chance for some of our youth to claw their way out of conditions which would probably lead them down the path to just becoming another wannabee rap artist with a longer criminal rap sheet then they do hit rap songs.
"As we near the exciting conclusion of 'March Madness' — which would more accurately be described as the 2011 NCAA Professional Basketball Championships — it's time we step back and finally address the myth of amateurism surrounding big-time college football and basketball in this country," said Nader, whose League of Fans is proposing that the scholarships be replaced with need-based financial aid. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the proposal Thursday, ahead of its official release.

I don't know how much more needs based you can get then offering a kid living in what may be pretty poor economic conditions or from less then ideal social situation with a chance to attend college even if it merely as a stepping stone to become a professional athlete.

Why does Ralph hate black people? Isn't that the implied undercurrent here? I know if I can see it all of the whiny bleeding heart liberals can see it.

If he wants to get riled up at somebody get pissed at the stupid NCAA rules committee which makes recruiting these athletes an Olympic event all unto itself with all of their stupid rules.

March Madness: Now Congressional Democrats Getting Involved

The embarrassing spectacle of the president making picks on ESPN during the calamity in Japan and his ongoing humiliation dealing with (rather, not dealing with) Libya isn't enough. Now we have a Democrat from Connnecticut writing letters to CBS executives demanding greater access to UConn's game against Bucknell tomorrow night.

Seriously.

Since when has it become an all-consuming obsession of Democats to ignore their jobs in lieu of basketball? Do they have the slightest clue how the optics look here?
Dear Dr. Emmert and Mr. Moonves,

It has come to my attention that as many as 150,000 households in Connecticut will not be able to watch Thursday's first round NCAA Tournament game between the University of Connecticut and Bucknell University. This news is extremely disappointing, and I ask for your assistance in remedying this situation.

The 7:20 p.m. game is currently scheduled to air on TNT, which is available only to cable and satellite subscribers. WFSB, the local CBS affiliate in Connecticut, is scheduled to air the Wofford vs. Brigham Young game instead, leaving many Husky fans in the dark. To this end, I ask that WFSB be given the license rights to carry the Connecticut game in place of the currently scheduled game.

NCAA's new contract with four television channels is a significant departure from previous years. As multiple games have been televised simultaneously in the past, the NCAA and CBS has respectfully adjusted their coverage by region to ensure local fans had the opportunity to watch the hometown team. I hope that the NCAA and CBS can continue that commitment.

The NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball Championship is one of the strongest uniting threads in Connecticut. Husky basketball is a source of pride for just about everyone you will meet, and interest in the NCAA championship tournament can be found in every corner of the state. It is my hope you will make every effort to continue that relationship with the people of Connecticut, and permit not only Thursday night's game but all the games played by Connecticut in the tournament to be broadcasted by the local CBS affiliate.

Thank you for your consideration of this request. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

JOE COURTNEY
Member of Congress
The obvious solution here: Free cable and free access to every channel for everybody!

March Sadness: Obama's NCAA Picks Bomb Badly

Well, they've pretty much turned out like the first two months of his presidency: Epic fail.
Another brutal day for President Obama's NCAA Tournament bracket. He was just 8-for-16 on the day and he would be pretty much eliminated from contention in most pools.

The biggest hits he took were Cleveland State's win over Wake Forest and Wisconsin's win over Florida State, which eliminated two of his Sweet 16 teams.

He's in pretty good shape in the West Region, where he's only missed one game. His Midwest Region is a disaster with five incorrect first-round picks.

Overall, Obama picked 19 of 32 first-round games correctly.
Now that's he's on the road to oblivion ESPN can stop talking about this moron.

Special Olympians are laughing at him.

Obama Has His Priorities

The president took some time off from his manufactured outrage over AIG to focus like a laser beam on the important issues facing America. Like who he's picking in the NCAA tournament.
In an exclusive interview, airing on Wednesday’s Noon ET SportsCenter, with ESPN.com senior college basketball writer Andy Katz, President Barack Obama filled out his bracket predictions for the 2009 NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament. President Obama’s bracket will be posted on ESPN.com Wednesday, and will appear alongside the millions of fans expected to play ESPN.com’s Tournament Challenge games. Last year, the ESPN Men’s Tournament Challenge set a record with 3.65 million entries. Katz’s interview will also be available on ESPN.com and on ESPN Mobile platforms.

The President is predicting a Final Four of Louisville, North Carolina, Memphis and Pittsburgh to meet April 4-6 at Ford Field in Detroit.
Used to be sports was a diversion from politics. Now you can't even watch ESPN without having to see this guy every day.

Obama really goes out on a limb by picking three No. 1 seeds and a No. 2. Daring guy.
