Liberal Democrats are stepping up their attacks on President Obama for his plan to extend a payroll tax break by a year.Put four million people to work? This guy's a regular comedian. If $110 billion would put four million people to work, Obama's failed stimulus should have eliminated unemployment entirely.
Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) blasted Obama last week for his “stupid Social Security tax holiday,” arguing that money would be better used on more stimulative spending.
He and other liberal lawmakers fear the extended tax holiday might make a permanent cut more likely, thus slashing Social Security’s primary funding stream and threatening future benefits.
“It’s a unique tax break. You don’t just give away money, you have to borrow money to give away money, to restore the Social Security trust fund,” DeFazio said Friday. “If you’re going to borrow $110 billion, spend it on infrastructure [and] put 4 million people to work instead of pissing away 25 bucks a week, which is what we’re doing now.”

Racist Liberals Blast Obama's 'Stupid Social Security Tax Holiday'
As we all know, any criticism of Barack Obama is racist. Now not only are House Democrats racist, they're calling Obama's plans stupid. A few more insults and they'll be honorary Klansmen.

Dem Congressman: Obama Should 'Act Like a Democrat'
Yes, believe it or not, there are still some people who think Obama isn't far enough to the left.
President Obama needs to start acting like a Democrat by not caving for a second time and allowing the Bush-era tax rates on the wealthy to expire, according to a founding member of the House Progressive Caucus.Heck, at this point I'd prefer he act like Bill Clinton, who in hindsight almost seems like a rightwinger next to this current abomination. How out of touch with reality is DeFazio?
Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) said he and other liberal Democrats are hoping to apply enough pressure on Obama to make him “act like a Democrat.”
He also said the last Democratic-controlled Congress made a mistake in not pushing Obama more.Pretty soon some of these extremist Democrats will start questioning where Obama was born or will be goofing on all the golf he's playing.
“Well in my opinion that’s what the House did wrong in the last Congress and in part why we lost is we never pushed back no matter how wrong he was or how off-base he was, we never pushed back,” he said.

'Don’t Think We’re Not Keeping Score, Brother'
Aw, isn't this cute? The President of the United States is channeling his inner gangster. Hey, how about another story on what a nice guy he is?
DeFazio's constituents won't have any need to wonder why nostimulus payoff money is coming to their district. Maybe DeFazio should switch parties before the GOP tsunami hits next year.
Update: So much for the calm, smooth veneer Obama has displayed. Now we get another taste of a street thug.
Looks like Hopenchangen in Copenhagen may have failed miserably.
Hot Air links. Thanks!
Judging by the comments over there it seems a lot of people are keeping score on Obama.
Rep. Peter DeFazio’s phone rang. On the other end was Rahm Emanuel.Hmm. If I didn't know any better I'd consider that a threat.
The White House chief of staff last month expressed frustration with DeFazio’s resignation calls for President Barack Obama’s top two economic aides — Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and White House chief economist Larry Summers — and appealed for cooperation, according to DeFazio.
But Emanuel, known for his blunt manner and ability to bend members of his party to his will, did not raise his voice with the Oregon Democrat.
“Rahm does not yell at me,” DeFazio said, “because he knows that I yell back.”
Others are learning that DeFazio, who has served in the House since 1987 and describes himself as a “progressive populist,” is not easily intimidated. He has emerged in recent months as one of the most vocal liberal critics of the Obama administration, blasting the president’s team for not getting tough enough with Wall Street. He’s also taken on his own party for failing to move left-leaning legislation through the Congress.
Personal calls from Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and former Vice President Al Gore couldn’t persuade him to vote for the Speaker’s climate change bill. He also opposed the $787 billion stimulus, citing concerns that only 7 percent was devoted to infrastructure spending.
DeFazio was one of only two Democrats to vote against those measures and the $700 billion bank bailout. (The other was Rep. Gene Taylor (D-Miss.) a Blue Dog conservative.)
Yet he’s also a pro-gun Democrat who has a B rating from the National Rifle Association.
“I would have less of a voice and I would have less respect if I voted for things I didn’t believe in because of pressure from the leadership,” DeFazio told The Hill in an interview.
Obama himself has taken notice.
“Don’t think we’re not keeping score, brother,” Obama told DeFazio during a closed-door meeting of the House Democratic Caucus, according to members afterward.
DeFazio's constituents won't have any need to wonder why no
Update: So much for the calm, smooth veneer Obama has displayed. Now we get another taste of a street thug.
A visibly angry Barack Obama threw down the gauntlet at China and other developing nations Friday, declaring that the time has come "not to talk but to act" on climate change. No small irony he was talking at the time.
Looks like Hopenchangen in Copenhagen may have failed miserably.

Saddam's Democrat 'Spy' Fit to Stand Trial
A former Democrat Senate and Congressional staffer has been ruled mentally fit to stand trial for spying for Saddam Hussein.
In case you're unaware of Lindauer, here's the complaint against her from back in 2004.
This NY Times article describes her as "committed yet erratic."
An ex-congressional staffer busted for allegedly acting as a spy for Saddam Hussein might be a bit paranoid, but that doesn't mean she's not fit to stand trial, a shrink testified yesterday.Shocking, isn't it, that a Democrat would aid and abet the enemy?
Psychiatrist Richard Ratner told a Manhattan federal judge that he examined Susan Lindauer several times at her request despite her previously being declared mentally incompetent by other mental-health experts.
"I concluded that she was mentally competent," Ratner said.
Lindauer, 45, is fighting to have her day in court, claiming she wants to prove that everything she did was under the supervision of US authorities.
In case you're unaware of Lindauer, here's the complaint against her from back in 2004.
A former Democratic congressional aide was arrested today on charges that she worked as an Iraqi spy. Susan Lindauer, 41, has been charged with conspiring to work with the Iraqi Intelligence Service and engaging in prohibited financial transactions with Saddam Hussein's government, according to the below indictment unsealed today by federal prosecutors in New York. Lindauer, arrested this morning at her Maryland home, allegedly met with Iraqi agents during several visits to the country's U.N. mission, where she "accepted various payments" in return "for services provided to the IIS in the course of her ongoing intelligence relationship with them." Lindauer, who also allegedly traveled to Iraq in early-2002 to meet with IIS agents, has previously worked as a press spokesperson for several elected officials, including former Senator Carol Moseley-Braun and congressmen Ron Wyden and Peter DeFazio. The Wikipedia page for this alleged spy claims she's an anti-war activist and journalist.
Lindauer faces up to 10 years in prison on the most serious charge and five years on the lesser charge if she is convicted. Her case is currently active. At the time of this writing, after a very long period with almost no news coverage, her case may be going to court if it is determined that she is competent to stand trial. She's also a second cousing to former Bush chief of staff Andy Card.
This NY Times article describes her as "committed yet erratic."
