Ms. Plame Wilson's 15 Minutes Nearly Up

May this mercifully be one of the final chapters with this useful idiot.

A federal appeals court has ruled that the Central Intelligence Agency didn't violate the free speech rights of ex-CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson when it refused to allow her to publish details of her possible pre-2002 work for the agency.

In an order Thursday, the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court's ruling that the CIA didn't infringe on Wilson's First Amendment rights when it refused a request by Wilson and her publisher, Simon & Schuster Inc., to publish details of her work with the agency prior to 2002 as part of a memoir.

"Because any information concerning Ms. Wilson's possible pre-2002 agency affiliation remains properly classified, and because Ms. Wilson is obligated by a secrecy agreement with the CIA not to disclose classified information, the district court correctly ruled that plaintiffs cannot demonstrate a First Amendment violation in this case," U.S. Circuit Judge Reena Raggi wrote on behalf of the three-judge panel.

Wilson had argued the CIA "officially disclosed" the dates of her pre-2002 service in a letter sent to her in February 2006 and her pre-2002 dates of service are now a matter of widespread public knowledge and it would be unreasonable to keep them classified.

A lawyer for Wilson didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment Thursday.

She probably wants her (cough cough) privacy.

Of course we can only hope those 15 minutes are near an end. Except we still have this coming down the pike. I'm sure with Sean Penn in it it will be fair and impartial.

OK, Please Go Away Now

The things that wouldn't leave are inched ever closer to the door.

The U.S. Supreme Court will not revive a lawsuit that former CIA operative Valerie Plame brought against former members of the Bush administration.

The court on Monday refused to hear an appeal from Plame and her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson.

A lower court last year threw out the lawsuit in which Plame and Wilson accused former Vice President Dick Cheney and several former high-ranking administration officials of disclosing her identity to reporters in 2003. Plame and Wilson said that violated their constitutional rights.

Of course these two never quite will go away. Even worse, the loathsome Sean Penn will soon be playing that hack Wilson in an upcoming movie, sure to receive critical acclaim and few box-office receipts.

A Bad Day for the Left Gets Worse: Plame Suit Dismissed

First, Michael Mukasey says there will be no prosecutions forthcoming in the Justice Department nonscandal, and now comes the delicious news that non-undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame has her bogus lawsuit against Vice President Cheney dismissed.

A U.S. appeals court on Tuesday dismissed former CIA analyst Valerie Plame's lawsuit against Vice President Dick Cheney and several former Bush administration officials for disclosing her identity to the public.

The Court of Appeals in Washington dealt another setback to the former spy, who has said her career was destroyed when officials blew her cover in 2003 to retaliate against her husband, Iraq war critic Joseph Wilson.

Plame's outing led a lengthy criminal investigation, which resulted in the conviction of Cheney's top aide, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, for perjury and obstruction of justice.

President George W. Bush commuted Libby's 2 1/2-year prison sentence last year.

Plame and Wilson sought money damages from Cheney, Libby, former White House aide Karl Rove and former State Department official Richard Armitage for violating their constitutional free speech, due process and privacy rights.

But a three-judge panel of the appeals court upheld a federal judge's ruling that dismissed the couple's lawsuit.

The court ruled Cheney and the others were acting within their official capacity when they revealed Plame's identity to reporters.

Expect another round of fawning interviews with the usual suspects for this annoying media whore and her two-bit fraud husband.

Talk about being unable to let go. Despite everyone on the planet knowing it was Richard Armitage who "leaked" the name of non-covert CIA employee Valerie Plame, the idiots in Congress plan to have the hapless Scott McClellan up to Congress to testify next week.

Expect gave-to-gavel coverage of this charade on PMSNBC and CNN.

President Bush's former spokesman, Scott McClellan, will testify before a House committee next week about whether Vice President Dick Cheney ordered him to make misleading public statements about the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity.

McClellan will testify publicly and under oath before the House Judiciary Committee on June 20 about the White House's role in the leak and its response, his attorneys, Michael and Jane Tigar, said on Monday.

In his new book, "What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception," McClellan said he was misled by others, possibly including Cheney, about the role of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby in the leak. McClellan has said publicly that Bush and Cheney "directed me to go out there and exonerate Scooter Libby."

The statements prompted House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., to invite McClellan to the hearing "concerning reported attempts to cover up the involvement of White House officials in the leak of" Plame's identity.

Plame's CIA identity was leaked to the news media by several top Bush administration officials in 2003, including Libby and former top White House political adviser Karl Rove. Last July, Bush commuted Libby's 2 1/2-year sentence, sparing him from serving any prison time after being convicted of perjury, obstructing justice and lying to the FBI.

Meanwhile, the certifiably insane Dennis Kucinich is still pushing impeachment. The tin-foil is wrapped a wee bit too tight on his skull.

Former CIA operative Valerie Plame is trying to resurrect a lawsuit against those in the Bush administration she says illegally disclosed her identity.

A federal judge dismissed Plame's lawsuit last year, saying there was no basis to bring a case. Plame's lawyers asked a federal appeals court Friday to send the case back before the judge and force him to consider its merits.

Plame and her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, sued Vice President Dick Cheney; his former chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby; former White House political adviser Karl Rove and former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage.

Plame's CIA position was revealed in a syndicated newspaper column in 2003, during a time when her husband was criticizing the march to war in Iraq. Armitage and Rove were the original sources for that story, which Plame believes was retribution for Wilson's criticism.

The article touched of a lengthy criminal investigation. Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald never charged anyone with the leak but convicted Libby of obstruction and lying to investigators.

For someone who allagedly was so guarded about her privacy, it's curious how she now goes out of her way to get attention.

I'm Valerie Plame Wilson and I'm excited to be here and blog about my book Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House, which goes on sale Monday, Oct 22. When my publisher sent me the finished copy earlier this week, it was thrilling. It felt like a new chapter (forgive the pun) has begun on the journey that has taken some incredible twists and turns since July 14, 2003, when my covert identity was exposed and ended a career that I loved. I've written honestly about my life: why I went to work for the CIA, my paramilitary training, the sort of operations we developed and ran to find intelligence on Iraq's alleged WMD programs in the run up to the war, as well as personal information, such as my battle with postpartum depression and the difficulties I had going from a private to a public persona literally overnight.

Finally telling your story? As if we've never heard this pathetic tale before?

Watching myself on 60 Minutes was surreal -- who can ever get used to seeing themselves on TV? I guess the book tour has really started and it will be a crazy week ahead. After four and a half years and everyone else in world talking about me, it feels good to finally be able to tell my story myself. It's a story about the consequences of speaking truth to power and the critical importance of holding our government to account for its words and deeds. I don't like to play the paranoia card, but with Cheney and the CIA in this game, I had a chill go down my spine when, during the "60 Minutes" piece last night, at precisely the moment you began to talk of Cheney et al, at that moment until the end of the program, my screen went blank....a blank screen in a kind of pink color. I have Dish Network satellite delivery in the Los Angeles Area. Did anyone else experience such a problem ? Do I dare ask the obvious....did the Prince of Darkness censor this interview ?

Judge Backs C.I.A. in Suit on Memoir

Valerie Wilson may be the best known former intelligence operative in recent history, but a federal judge in New York ruled Wednesday that she was not allowed to say how long she worked for the Central Intelligence Agency in the memoir she plans to publish this fall.

Valerie Wilson? I though her name was Plame?

Although the fact that Ms. Wilson worked for the C.I.A. from 1985 to 2006 has been published in the Congressional Record and elsewhere, the judge, Barbara S. Jones of Federal District Court in Manhattan, said Ms. Wilson was not free to say so.

?The information at issue was properly classified, was never declassified and has not been officially acknowledged by the C.I.A.,? Judge Jones wrote.

Asked whether the ruling would affect the book?s scheduled publication date in October, Adam Rothberg, a spokesman for Ms. Wilson?s publisher, Simon & Schuster, said only that the book would appear ?this fall,? suggesting that revisions required by the decision may cause a slight delay. David B. Smallman, a lawyer who represented Ms. Wilson and Simon & Schuster in the suit they had filed to include the information, said his clients had not decided whether to appeal.

C.I.A. employees sign agreements requiring them to submit manuscripts to the agency for permission before they are published. The C.I.A. has publicly acknowledged only that Ms. Wilson worked there from 2002 to January 2006, when she resigned.

Yawn.

Meanwhile, over at the Home Office of Hate, bloated psychopath and Father of the Year Alec Baldwin calls for prosecution of those who leaked Mrs. Plame Wilson's name. I don't know, maybe he's been on a long bender or coking up with his drugged-out brother Daniel, but somehow he missed the railroading of Scooter Libby.

The fifth thing that I would do is to prosecute whoever is responsible for outing Valerie Plame as a CIA agent.

Yes, there are a number of other issues that would seem to be equally as important, if not more so, than the Plame case. Infrastructure, taxes, agriculture, clean water, trade deficits, election protection and on and on. But the Valerie Plame issue strikes at the very heart of what is most wrong with our current government and creates an inescapable mandate for Bush's successor. Lying is one matter. Destroying the career and good name of an intelligence officer of this country for the purposes of some sick political retribution is another. The issue is one of morality on the deepest level and it is this government's betrayal of Plame that reveals how corrupt and immoral this administration truly is.

I see how the left has latched onto infrastructure as a big concern now. Never mentioned it before the Minneapolis bridge collapse, for some odd reason.

Curiously omitted from his rant is the name Richard Armitage, the mean who "leaked" Plamewilson's name.

The Disgrace of Patrick Fitzgerald

Mark Steyn lays waste to Fitzgerald, who has really earned it.

As for Scooter Libby, he faces up to 25 years in jail for the crime of failing to remember when he first heard the name of Valerie Plame -- whether by accident or intent no one can ever say for sure. But we also know that Joe Wilson failed to remember that his original briefing to the CIA after getting back from Niger was significantly different from the way he characterized it in his op-ed in the New York Times. We do know that the contemptible Armitage failed to come forward and clear the air as his colleagues were smeared for months on end. We do know that his boss Colin Powell sat by as the very character of the administration was corroded.

And we know that Patrick Fitzgerald knew all this and more as he frittered away the years, and the ''political blood lust'' (as National Review's Rich Lowry calls it) grew ever more disconnected from humdrum reality. The cloud over the White House is Fitzgerald's, and his closing remarks to the jury were highly revealing. If he dislikes Bush and Cheney and the Iraq war, whoopee: Run against them, or donate to the Democrats, or get a talk-radio show. Instead, he chose in full knowledge of the truth to maintain artificially a three-year cloud over the White House while the anti-Bush left frantically mistook its salivating for the first drops of a downpour. The result is the disgrace of Scooter Libby. Big deal. Patrick Fitzgerald's disgrace is the greater, and a huge victory not for justice or the law but for the criminalization of politics.
