Thank goodness we've got the Southern Poverty Law Center on the job otherwise we wouldn't have tracked down this wild-eyed extremist, who no doubt honed his hate skills out with the Democrat militia men in the Michigan woods. And if it weren't for those crack investigative reporters at Newsweek uncovering the spike in hate, maniacs like this would still be roaming free uttering lunatic statements like the commander-in-chief "is the anti-Christ and if Allah does not kill him then a brother will."

The alleged leader of a terror plot to bomb Jewish synagogues in Riverdale and shoot down military aircraft upstate is a "hate-filled, anti-Semite" who called Osama bin Laden his "brother," prosecutors allege in court papers filed today.

James Cromitie also told a government informant that he wanted to shoot former President Bush "seven hundred times," saying the 43rd commander-in-chief "is the anti-Christ and if Allah does not kill him then a brother will," the papers charge.

Federal prosecutors in White Plains say Cromitie was repeatedly caught on tape making "lengthy rants" inside a house wired by the FBI after he unwittingly introduced himself to a government informant at the Masjid al-Ikhlas mosque in upstate Newburgh in June 2008.

Responding to Cromitie's claims that he was entrapped, the feds say the informant -- who's been identified by the defense as Shaheed Hussain -- "was actually working on another investigation" at the time and "had no idea who Cromitie was."

But after the informant told Cromitie he was a member of the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed, Cromitie allegedly responded "without hesitation" that he wanted to join up and "do jihad."

Funny how the kook left who called BS on these arrests are quick to link the aformentioned militia members as tea partiers and ominous threats to America.

At least they're consistent. Consistently idiotic.

As it was throughout the Bush years. Whenever a terror plot was disrupted, be it Fort Dix or the Lackawanna Six as a couple of examples, the left reflexively "questioned the timing" and accused Bush and Cheney of "scaring" people. Yet now the slightest inkling of anything "anti-government" and the immediate reaction is to blame tea partiers in a lame attempt to smear and discredit them. They cannot see that there indeed are bad guys who want to do harm
and refuse to see that people voicing their honest distrust of government are not the same as them.

Could Somebody Get These Pesky Reporters Out of Here?

For a guy who seems is on our television every day, he sure is somewhat of a recluse when he doesn't control the crowd, know the questions ahead of time, or have his teleprompter to lean on.

Dana Milbank writing over at the Washington Post has an article up about how the foreign press is less then impressed with the open way that Barry O has of dealing with the press. They are just now finding out what we here in America have been dealing with for over a year in regards to the Democrats. They do their dirty work behind closed doors, late in the night, and away from any scrutiny.

Reporters, many in a "filing center" about a quarter-mile away from the leaders' meetings, relied on dispatches from colleagues allowed in as the press pool. The dispatches, over three days, were uniform: "They were too far away to hear conversation. . . . Again, Obama had nothing to say of substance that pooler heard. . . . We were in for all of 30 seconds. No news; no quotes and again no statements. . . . Same deal folks."

Most open and ethical government evah!

Most telling is that a lot of these reporters are used to dealing with rules imposed on them by their home countries, which have an entirely different definition of what free speech and freedom of the press mean. They didn't expect this kind of treatment in America.

But that is Barry O, being made a fool of by our enemies and alienating our friends. Soon the whole world will hate us.

'Well, I'll Be Your Daddy, But I Won't Be Your Sugar Daddy'

These old guys cruising for some young companionship might want to avoid the psychotic Saudi-mizers.

I'm just a gay gigolo, says the Saudi national now on trial in a horrendous, Upper West Side kidnap and sex torture case.

"It is rough sex for money between two consenting adults who both may have had a little too much to drink," the defense lawyer for Naief Al-mateiry told a Manhattan felony jury this morning.

Al-mateiry, 26, is fighting charges of kidnapping and rape brought by a 70-year-old freelance consultant who says he was beaten, held captive and repeatedly sodomized in his own west 90s apartment during a gay-date rape from hell 14 months ago.

Both sides agree the two men met at the upscale, east side piano bar Townhouse on a winter night in 2009.

"The defendant told [the victim] that he'd like him to be his daddy-o," prosecutor Maxine Rosenthal told the jury in opening statements.

"Well, I'll be your daddy, but I won't be your sugar daddy," the prosecutor said the older man answered.

But once back at the victim's apartment, Al-mateiry allegedly transformed into a sexual terrorist, choking the victim, raping him repeatedly, beating him with a broken hanger and sodomizing him with a three-foot-long shoe-horn, Rosenthal said.

Al-mateiry then forced him to two neighborhood ATMs -- insisting he had a knife -- and had him withdraw a total of $1,200.

Defense lawyer Henry Asbill dismissed any violence as "consensual, routine S&M" and called the victim a flat out liar.

Of course the ratings don't bear out this delusional fantasy, nor does reality.

Meeting with advertisers Tuesday during the midst of a ratings free-fall on its flagship network, CNN's leadership said it is staying the course in emphasizing its journalism.

The reassurance may be necessary. The Nielsen Co. says CNN's weekday, prime time viewership was down 42 percent the first three months of the year from 2009.

CNN U.S. President Jon Klein said that based on a format of credible, nonpartisan news, CNN is "alone in a category of one."

Actually they are in a category of one, alone at the bottom of the ratings heap.

I suppose when Rick Sanchez asks if tea partiers are like al Qaeda and the Taliban, he's being non-biased?

When thousands showed up recently as a rally in Searchlight, Nevada, CNN reported it as dozens.

Is that non-biased?

Special Election in Florida's 19th District

It's flown well under the national radar, but today there's a special election in the heavily-Democratic 19th Congressional District in Florida to fill out the term of the departed Robert Wexler. Expect the Democrats to spin this as a win for ObamaCare if they hold the seat while the GOP will gain huge momentum if their candidate somehow pulls this off.

Polls are open in Florida's 19th Congressional district, where a special election is being held Tuesday to fill former Rep. Robert Wexler's seat. The contest is also the first federal election to be held since the congressional passage of the Democrat's health care plans, and the controversial reforms could play a large role in the election results.

Republican candidate Ed Lynch says he wants to repeal the new law. The 44 year-old contractor is making opposition to President Obama's health care legislation a major part of his campaign. Lynch is also critical of the federal stimulus program, and of the president's handling the war in Iraq. The Democratic candidate, 44 year-old State Sen. Ted Deutch, supports the new health care law.

About four in ten voters in the district are senior citizens, and many national polls indicate that older voters were opposed to the health care reform legislation. Republicans hope to pull off an upset similar to Scott Brown's victory in January in a special election in Massachusetts to fill the seat of the late Sen. Ted Kennedy.

The heavily Democratic district stretches from northern Broward County into Palm Beach county, just miles inland from Florida's Atlantic coastline. The nine-term Wexler, who was very popular in the district, stepped down at the beginning of the year to lead a Middle East think tank.

The district voted 65% for Obama in 2008.

The Democrat outraised opponents by 20 to 1. If she doesn't win it'll be a massive humiliation for Democrats. Believe it or not, weather could play a factor. What, is it going to be under 75 degrees?

Typically, Bucher said, a special election gets 15 percent to 20 percent turnout, Bucher said. "We're hopeful that we get better than the standard, but it's hard to tell," she said.

Snipes said bad weather depresses turnout. If Tuesday is anything like Monday, she said, "that'll be a disaster."

Meanwhile, more grim news for Democrats on the national level.

Army's First Female Bugler Has Passed Away

Being the first at something is always hard. Donna Mae Smith began her career as an Army bugler in 1942, back before women were integrated into the Army as a whole. She was a member of the WAAC, Women's Army Auxillary Corp. She passed away recently at the age of 90, but left behind a profound legacy.

In 1942 while working in a Minnesota plant inspecting .30-caliber cartridges a young 22 year old Donna-Mae Baldenecker –(Burr-Smith) heard the military was accepting recruits for the Woman' Army Auxiliary Corps. She wrote a letter expressing an interest in joining the first W.A.A.C. training center's band. She got a telegram telling her to report for duty as soon as possible!

She was stationed at Des Moines, Iowa and served as both a drum major and the bands only trumpet player for a while. Awakening the troops with reveille and playing taps were an every day duty for the young recruit. Every morning she arose early to start her duty by receiving a wake-up from Cpl. Robert Burr. They were married in 1943.

In those days all of the bugle calls were done by real people, not recordings blared over loudspeakers like they are today.

She continued to play Taps at military funerals until 1996, when health issues forced her to retire. Her life was mixture of tragedy, with her suffering the loss of her 2 sons due to exposure to radiation from the military's bomb testing, back before all of the effects of these type of weapons were known, and triumph.

She and her husband, Robert, had two sons, Craig and Kevin. The family settled in the San Fernando Valley in the 1950's. Tragedy struck while the family was camping in the Utah mountains. They were exposed to a toxic cloud from government bomb testing's. Young Kevin became sick immediately and died within weeks. He was only seven years old. Robert Burr also became sick and later died of cancer in January of 1964.

Finally the visually-impaired can fell the wondrous joys of the male love robot. At last we have equality.

A pornographic magazine for the blind has been launched - complete with explicit text and raised pictures of naked men and women.

The book, the brainchild of Lisa Murphy and called Tactile Minds, is designed to be 'enjoyed' by the blind and visually impaired - and is on sale for £150.

Among the 17 raised images include a naked woman in a 'disco pose', a woman with 'perfect breasts' and a 'male love robot'.

Canadian Lisa says that she made the book to fill a gap in the market, adding: "There are no books of tactile pictures of nudes for adults.

"We're breaking new ground. Playboy has an edition with Braille wording, but there are no pictures."

She said that she made the book after realising that the 'blind have been left out in a culture saturated with sexual images'.

Surprise: U.S. Facing Doctor Shortage

Gee, I wonder why? You suppose working for years to get through medical school just to become a slave to the government isn't as appealing as Democrats would have you believe?

The new federal health-care law has raised the stakes for hospitals and schools already scrambling to train more doctors.

Experts warn there won't be enough doctors to treat the millions of people newly insured under the law. At current graduation and training rates, the nation could face a shortage of as many as 150,000 doctors in the next 15 years, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges.

That shortfall is predicted despite a push by teaching hospitals and medical schools to boost the number of U.S. doctors, which now totals about 954,000.

The greatest demand will be for primary-care physicians. These general practitioners, internists, family physicians and pediatricians will have a larger role under the new law, coordinating care for each patient.

The U.S. has 352,908 primary-care doctors now, and the college association estimates that 45,000 more will be needed by 2020. But the number of medical-school students entering family medicine fell more than a quarter between 2002 and 2007.

Three weeks into the joyous ObamaCare and his approvals are at their lowest level ever, socialized medicine is as unpopular as ever, and those 400,000 jobs Nancy Pelosi proised would magically appear immediately haven't materialized.

Other than that it's been wildly successful.

Instead of our elected Representatives in Congress giving us answers, they regurgitated talking points (if they could be bothered to address us at all). Instead of thoughtful, needed health care reform, they arrogantly forced upon us the largest expansion of government power and largest intrusion into our lives that our nation has ever seen.

Our congressmen like to tell us how this plan will cut deficits, lower costs, increase competition and improve quality of health care. We've heard it all before. But what you haven't heard are the specific provisions this plan "provides."

This is a plan that adds 16,000 new tax collectors but not a single new doctor or nurse. In fact, the New England Journal of Medicine published a survey recently that revealed almost half of practicing physicians would seriously consider leaving medicine if the health care overhaul passed into law. But this didn't stop Congress. Your elected officials are just fine imposing a plan on you that will drive more doctors away from Medicare and leave legions of patients stranded without care.

This is a plan that levies new taxes on everything from tanning salons to tampons, due and payable today, if you please. But many of the health care "benefits" will not be available until years from now. If it seems like your elected Congress members don't seem to care, why should they? They exempted themselves from the law.

This is a plan that, hidden deep within its 2,700 pages, is the very rationing of health care that this Congress and, regrettably, this president has claimed is not there.

Recently, Dennis Moore was finally cornered and made the stunning - though not surprising - confession that he had not read the health care bill before voting for it. On March 24, Mr. Moore was asked one of my own questions by Ellen Schenk of News Radio 980 KMBZ if the scheme to financially penalize family doctors for referring patients to specialists was still in the bill. She reminded him that this scheme raises concern for the very health care rationing that he has said is not there.

His answer exposed just how little he actually knew about the bill: "I don't know. And I will find out. But I don't know if that's in there. This is, as you know, a multi-hundred, several hundred pages of bill, but uh, uh, I'll check with Dr. Wolf directly, too, and talk to him and find out what, what, what his concern is because I don't know that."

Thuggish White Plains Mayor Refuses to Resign

Could you imagine the uproar if a Republican assaulted his wife, was accused of witness tampering and suggested his wife hang herself? The cacophony would be deafening. Needless to say he'd have been driven from office in shame. But not this Democrat.

A Westchester County mayor accused of roughing up his wife is fending off resignation demands.

White Plains Mayor Adam Bradley agreed Monday to be evaluated and to take domestic violence classes if they’re recommended.

The majority of the city’s Common Council then called for him to quit. Bradley said he won’t.

He’s pleaded not guilty to assault, witness tampering and other charges.

Fumiko Bradley accused him of throwing a cup of hot tea at her, and slamming a door on her hand.

She later announced she did not want Bradley prosecuted. Court papers say Bradley suggested she hang herself while pressuring her to recant.

To their credit, the Democrats on the Council have suggested Bradley pack his bags and get out.

"Our concern is that the distractions now have reached the level that the question of his ability to function in the role of mayor is there and so for that reason we're calling on him to resign," Common Council president Tom Roach said.

Bradley, however, stood his ground on Monday, lashing out against the council's demands.

"I would like to make clear from the beginning, I am not resigning as mayor of White Plains," Bradley said Monday. "We are all entitled to our day in court. And we all have the right to put our case before the proper authorities."

Bradley is hanging on -- even though the majority of the Common Council wants him out.

"I think he should resign in good faith and allow new leadership to take control of the situation," Lecouna said.

Many wonder how White Plains can solve a huge budget deficit when the mayor is consumed with a domestic violence case.

Oprah Winfrey embellished her poor upbringing and made up stories about sexual abuse to boost her ratings, her relatives say in Kitty Kelley’s new biography.

Although Winfrey claims she never had any new dresses or dolls, and had to adopt two cockroaches as pets growing up in rural Mississippi, her cousin contends she was actually relatively “spoiled” as a little girl.

“Where Oprah got that nonsense about growing up in filth and roaches I have no idea,” Katherine Carr Esters said. “I’ve confronted her and asked, ‘why do you tell such lies?’ Oprah told me ‘that’s what people want to hear. The truth is boring.’”

In “Oprah,” which goes on sale tomorrow, Kelley also describes how rumors once swirled at ABC about a relationship between Winfrey and Diane Sawyer.

Employees there described “giggly late-night phone calls,” and a series of lavish gifts from Winfrey, including gigantic sprays of orchids and a one-carat diamond toe ring.

Despite such rumors, Kelley concludes that Winfrey is “asexual.”

However, she quotes sources describing how in 1989 Winfrey paid an ex-boyfriend $50,000 to keep quiet about her gay brother and “some lesbian affairs.”

As for her relationship with longtime partner Stedman Graham, according to the book the two do not share a bedroom.

Perhaps the biggest secret of the book is left a secret. Oprah still does not know the true identity of her father. Esters told Kelley who he is, on the condition she not publish the information until Winfrey’s mother comes clean to her daughter.

Vernon Winfrey, the man who raised Oprah, is also frustrated with the way she has played fast and loose with the truth.

“She may be admired by the world, but I know the truth,” he says. “So does god and so does Oprah. Two of us remain ashamed.“

Vernon reserves his harshest words for Winfrey’s best friend, Gayle King, who put the kibosh on a biography he was working on.

Calling her a “dirt hog“ and a “street heifer,“ he blames King for a rift in their relationship.

Ouch.

Somehow I get the impression Oprah won't be promoting this book.

Back in 1991 Kelley wrote an unauthorized biography of Nancy Reagan which was received adoringly by the liberal media. To no surprise Kelley won't exactly be having the red carpet rolled out for this book.

NJEA Refuses to Fire Christie 'Death Wish' Thug

Must be great having protection of the teacher's unions. You can wish for the death of the governor of your state and get to keep your cushy job, paid for by the taxpayers, naturally. Now just imagine a student had wished death upon a union teacher. You think a mere apology would suffice in such a case? Hell, no.

The first face-to-face meeting between Gov. Chris Christie and the president of the state's powerful teachers' union ended in acrimony today, despite the union's apology for a controversial memo alluding to the governor's death.

Christie and Barbara Keshishian, head of the 200,000-member New Jersey Education Association, met for about 15 minutes in the governor's office, where he accepted her apology for the memo sent by union officials in Bergen County last week, Christie spokesman Michael Drewniak said. But Keshishian would not agree to fire Joe Coppola, the president of the Bergen County Education Association who signed the memo, and ended the meeting, Drewniak said.

"The governor expressed that had anybody in this governor's office, on this staff, ever done anything like that, they would be shown the door immediately, and he detected obviously a double standard in that," Drewniak said, adding there was little substantive discussion of the governor's proposed $820 million aid cut to school districts, or Christie's call for teachers to take a wage freeze.

"I just don't see how citizens should want to support a budget where their teachers have not wanted to be part of the shared sacrifice," Christie said at a Princeton news conference highlighting business development incentives.

"If the NJEA can't as an organization accept that this was egregious conduct and take disciplinary action, I don't know how we could move forward without that happening."

These unions are really pushing it. They don't seem to realize how unpopular they are and how fed up taxpayers are with them. Plus their refusal to bargain in good faith with the state facing crushing debt just shows what a bunch of spoiled layabouts they are.

Famous Motorcycle Helmet Spokesman Won't Be Charged

After looking at the upcoming NFL schedule and seeing no games between the Atlanta Falcons and the Pittsburgh Steelers a DA has decided not to charge Big Ben with any criminal charges relating to an alleged sexual assault case.

"The investigation, interviews and report in the Roethlisberger matter have been completed and reviewed," said Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Frederic D. Bright made the announcement today at a news conference. He said prosecutors would not be able to bring a case that he would convince a jury "beyond a reasonable doubt."

Bright emphasized that the accuser did not want the case prosecuted.

There was word from the very begining that Ben Roethlisberger would not be charged and that there was more smoke in this case then fire.

How long till football season starts anyway? I wonder if the NFL will be allowed to continue playing under the Obamacare rules? You know they knowingly engage in practices which result in injuries and that of course drives up the cost for all of us. If I can't eat salt and must be continually warned about the dangers of everything that I eat, drink, breathe, or smell I would expect these wanton displays of personal injury would need to be stopped too.

Where Were You Before This Debacle Was Passed, Johnnie Boy?

John Oxendine is the Georgia Insurance Commissioner and current candidate for governor on the Republican ticket.

In the debate leading up to the passage of ObamaCare I was puzzled by the absence of the various states insurance commissioners in regards to the proposed legislation. There was a dearth of silence from them. These are the same insurance bureaucrats which burden insurance companies with new mandates and can't wait to levy hefty fines on them when they are caught in the wrong, but couldn't bring themselves to speak up in defense of their states.

I am not a fan of Oxendine, for a ton of other reasons, but being the career politician that he is I guess he figures the polls are tilted heavily enough in one direction now that he can come out and appear to make a principled stance.

Republican John Oxendine said he does not think Georgia should take part in the creation of a federal insurance pool, backed by $5 billion in federal money, that would offer subsidized premiums to people who have been uninsured for at least six months.

In a letter obtained by The Associated Press, Oxendine tells U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius he has no confidence the program will not be a burden for Georgia taxpayers.

Killer Kennedy Cousin Loses Appeal

Michael C. Skakel, the Kennedy cousin who was convicted in 2002 of the killing of a 15-year-old Greenwich, Conn., neighbor in 1975, lost an appeal Monday in which he had sought a new trial.

The Connecticut Supreme Court affirmed the 2007 decision of a trial judge that had said new evidence developed with the help of Mr. Skakel’s prominent cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would not have brought a different outcome at the trial.

The effort for a new trial was based largely on an account by a former classmate of Mr. Skakel’s, Gitano Bryant, who said that two friends went to Greenwich with him the night of the killing and that he suspected they might have killed the 15-year-old, Martha Moxley.

In its ruling, the Supreme Court said the trial judge had reasonably questioned Mr. Bryant’s credibility. “There is no evidence, independent of Bryant,” Monday’s ruling said, “to corroborate any significant aspect of his account of the events of the night of October 30, 1975, whereas there is a plethora of evidence to contradict his account.”

Skakel's current attorney offers up a unique grounds for yet another appeal, claiming his previous high-priced attorney lacked proper funding.

Skakel attorney Hope Seeley tells The Associated Press that she will file papers in the coming weeks arguing Skakel had ineffective counsel when he was represented by Michael Sherman.

Seeley has said Sherman failed to fully investigate witnesses because he had financial difficulties. Sherman denies that.

NJ Democrat Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Charges

These filthy pols are so fortunate. He gets only five years and time to get his affairs in order.

Former New Jersey Assemblyman Neil Cohen today pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography in a deal that may send him to prison for five years.

Cohen, 59, trudged into the Trenton courthouse this morning for an early hearing and answered the judge's question in a low voice, almost a mumble.

"That is correct, sir," he said when asked if he planned to plead guilty.

The plea agreement will require Cohen to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law and be restricted from using social networking websites. He will also be barred from public employment and may be supervised by the Parole Board for life after release from prison.

Cohen, a lawyer, will also likely be disbarred.

Final sentencing is scheduled for July 12.

"Please get your affairs in order," Judge Gerald Council said to Cohen. "Be prepared."

Cohen sought psychiatric care when the investigation began, and he told the judge today he is on medication.

In pleading guilty, Cohen admitted to using state computer equipment at his Union Township legislative office in July 2008 to view and print photos of underage girls in various stages of nudity. Then he placed the photos in a drawer in a reception desk.

“Not only did Mr. Cohen access, print and distribute child pornography, he did it in his legislative office using equipment paid for by state taxpayers,” Criminal Justice Director Stephen Taylor said in a statement. “He not only betrayed any standard of decency, he betrayed the people of the State of New Jersey.”

A legislative staffer discovered the photos and informed the two Democratic lawmakers, Sen. Ray Lesniak and Assemblyman Joseph Cryan (both D-Union), who shared the office with Cohen. The lawmakers then reported Cohen to authorities.

One week later, Cohen quit the Legislature, ending a 17-year career in the Assembly. Union County Democrats chose Annette Quijano to succeed him.

Naturally, he "championed" legislation to fight child porn.

Scientists are taking a new look at hallucinogens, which became taboo among regulators after enthusiasts like Timothy Leary promoted them in the 1960s with the slogan “Turn on, tune in, drop out.” Now, using rigorous protocols and safeguards, scientists have won permission to study once again the drugs’ potential for treating mental problems and illuminating the nature of consciousness.

After taking the hallucinogen, Dr. Martin put on an eye mask and headphones, and lay on a couch listening to classical music as he contemplated the universe.

“All of a sudden, everything familiar started evaporating,” he recalled. “Imagine you fall off a boat out in the open ocean, and you turn around, and the boat is gone. And then the water’s gone. And then you’re gone.”

PC Pinheads Want to Ban the Word 'Obese' So As Not to Offend Fat Kids

Forget about losing the language. We long ago lost it. But now it's just getting downright stupid. We've gone and used various terms to avoid calling fat people fat and here in America we've got the First Lady running around spending ungodly sums of money on some battle against obesity so we can still use the term here. But over in Britain they've lost all sense of reality and are now afraid of offending the little chubsters and chubettes so they now want to use the term unhealthy weight.

In an age of widespread political correctness almost any term can be deemed to offend someone at some time.

But one council has been condemned after it announced it would consider banning the word 'obese' because it could offend fat children.

Town hall bosses want to want to replace it with the phrase 'unhealthy weight' so children are not stigmatised.

The move has caused fury among parents and anti-obesity campaigners who have branded the scheme 'preposterous and laughable.'

But health campaigners say they are concerned it will lead to the issue of obese children not being taken seriously enough.

The proposal was made by a group of 90 schoolchildren taking part in the Liverpool Schools' Parliament when the council asked them to come up with a variety of ideas as part of its Children and Young People’s Plan (CYPP).

Now Liverpool Council will formally consider the proposal to drop the word from all local authority schemes and strategies aimed at improving the health of children. Tam Fry of the obesity prevention charity the Child Growth Foundation, said: 'If you’re obese you’re obese. 'I can see where the children are coming from and the word carries a stigmatisation but unfortunately some times schoolchildren have to be taught the realities of life.

If these nitwits don't think kids are going to be stigmatized and ridiculed, let them spend 10 minutes on a playground. Ridicule can be a powerful motivator.

Hatch: Hey, How About Supreme Court Justice Hillary?

Doesn't this present an interesting quandary? Do we support getting her out of State, thereby preventing any further bungling incompetence and alienation of our allies? Or is the risk of having her on the Supreme Court for life too much to bear?

Big upside: The robe will prevent us from seeing those hideous pantsuits and believe me, that's a huge plus.

Sen. Orrin Hatch says he's heard Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's name mentioned in connection with the Supreme Court vacancy brought about by the retirement of Justice John Paul Stevens.

Hatch didn't elaborate in an interview Monday. Appearing with Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy on NBC's "Today" show, the Utah Republican said only, "I heard Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's name today and that would be an interesting person in the mix."

Hatch wouldn't say whether he'd support Clinton. But he did say "I like Hillary Rodham Clinton" and said he thinks she's done a good job for Democrats.

Let's face it. She'd breeze through confirmation hearings since she's a known commodity. It would also spare Obama any further political damage rather than going the far left route that's sure to rifle feathers in an already heated atmosphere.

Unless he's really itching for a fight, it would be a safe pick. Whether her legal acumen is up to snuff we'll let the lawyers out there decide that. Any thoughts?

Chuckie Schumer Tackling the Important Issues

It's Sunday, so obviously it's time for another of Chuckie's shameless publicity grabs. He's getting down to the big issues now.

Spirit Airlines' $45 charge for carry-on luggage is the last straw for put-upon air travelers, said Sen. Chuck Schumer.

He's demanding that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner close a loophole that makes the fee extra profitable for the carrier.

"Passengers have hit a breaking point on fees that are being imposed," Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Sunday.

Yes, and American have reached a breaking points on taxes voted in by Democrats, but that doesn't seem to bother Chuckie. He happily voted for the trillion-dollar boondoggle known as ObamaCare, yet is upset that a company decides they want to charge for carry-on bags? Is he for real? Or, more likely, is Chuckie looking out for No. 1 here?

"Peanuts may not be a necessity, but the ability to carry on a bag is," said Schumer, who totes carry-on luggage on his frequent flights to Washington, D.C.

He hopes for a preliminary answer from the Treasury Department by the end of the week. If the Feds don't put a stop to carry-on bag fees, he said he'd introduce legislation that will.

Great, just what we need: The Senate taking up carry-on bag legislation. Of course if the idiot gets his way and airlines are forced to charge what Chuckie tells them to, they'll just increase their fares.

Which will lead us to another Sunday press conference by this man of the people...

Paterson: Hey, Let's Give Client No. 9 a Second Chance

This coming from a guy who boasts about putting a former drug dealer into a position of power only to see it blow up in his face when his aide was accused of beating his girlfriend. With such a track record of sound judgment, who are we to argue with him?

Gov. Paterson said his hooker-happy predecessor Eliot Spitzer deserves a shot at a comeback, just like the aides with checkered pasts Paterson prides himself on hiring.

"I've dedicated myself to hiring people who have had infractions when they were younger but had talent," Paterson said Sunday on Kiss-FM's "The Open Line" when asked about a possible Spitzer political return.

"I hope the same standard will be extended to Gov. Spitzer, who had tremendous talent and I hope will be able to exercise it."

Paterson famously gave a second chance to ex-aide David Johnson, who rose to become one of the governor's most trusted advisers despite arrests on felony drug charges as a teenager.

Paterson was forced to abandon his election campaign over accusations he interfered in a case involving Johnson's alleged assault of his girlfriend last October. Paterson has acknowledged speaking with the woman by phone.

Of course if Spitzer doesn't re-enter politics, he's always got a budding career at MSNBC ready to roll. Let's face it, he couldn't possible do any worse than any of their current lineup over there.

Climate Clowns Meet, Schedule More Meetings, Spend More Money

In another colossal waste of money, representatives from 175 countries got together this weekend devising more schemes to get a hold of your money. Nothing was accomplished except plans to have more meetings and spend vast sums of money doing it.

Haven't these jokers every heard of conference calls?

Climate negotiators renewed their skirmishes this weekend at their first conference since the acrimonious summit in Copenhagen, split over how to continue efforts to reach an all-encompassing agreement to control greenhouse gases and help poor countries deal with global warming.

After the letdown of Copenhagen, delegates and officials appeared determine to dampen expectations of a final deal this year, and said negotiations are almost certain to stretch past the next major conference at Cancun, Mexico, in December.

"We should not be striving to get answers to each and every question in Cancun," Yvo de Boer, head of the U.N. climate secretariat, said Sunday. "The quest to address climate change is a long journey, and achieving perfection takes practice."

The unusual three-day meeting attended by 175 countries was called to plot out a course of negotiation up to the Cancun conference. It was likely to approve two unscheduled meetings at a cost of $7 million to $15 million, depending on where they are held.

But procedural questions quickly spawned divisions on issues touching nerves among rich countries, led by the United States, and developing countries.

At the rate we're going under Obama we won't be a "rich" country much longer, so maybe we'll be off the hook for a few billion.

Nice to see a supposedly objective news story leap to such a conclusion that everyone attending the Southern Republican Leadership Conference "hates" Obama.

In no small irony nowhere in the story is anyone identified as "hating" Obama. In fact, there's hardly any mention whatsoever of Obama, yet the "reporter" or whoever wrote the headline declares everyone attending the conference "hates" him.

'This Is Disgusting'

Looks like the NBA didn't do their homework when welcoming this Russian into the fold.

A New Jersey congressman says he will demand a government inquiry into Mikhail Prokhorov, the Russian billionaire poised to buy the New Jersey Nets, for his extensive business dealings in Zimbabwe -- a bombshell that could blow up the $200 million team deal and threaten the future of Brooklyn's Atlantic Yards, The Post has learned.

Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr., a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee, wants to know if companies controlled by Prokhorov in Zimbabwe violate federal rules that forbid American citizens and companies, and subsidiaries set up in the United States, from doing business with brutal strongman Robert Mugabe, his regime or associates.

"This is disgusting," Pascrell said. "Obviously, the Board of Governors of the NBA didn't do their job properly when they vetted this deal."

He said the project received tax-exempt bonds.

"It's being financed partly by the taxpayer, and the public has a right to know," he said.

Prokhorov's Renaissance Capital investment bank has interests in the Zimbabwean stock exchange, banks, a cellphone company, mining and a swanky, private big-game reserve. The company is intertwined with Onexim, the $25 billion Prokhorov-controlled investment fund behind the deal to bring the struggling NBA team to Brooklyn.

Pascrell said he will ask the Treasury Department, which oversees the sanctions, to investigate Onexim. In 2008, Onexim became a 50 percent owner of Renaissance Capital, which has been actively investing in Zimbabwe since 2007.

According to its Web site, Renaissance Capital has offices in Manhattan and was the financial sponsor of an economic forum in the Zimbabwean capital of Harare that provided foreign investors special access to government ministers in June 2009 -- which experts say is a violation of the sanctions.

In February, the company's Africa-based CEO, Andrew Lowe, participated in a business panel with a Zimbabwean official banned from entering the United States.

"Looks like sanctions-busting to me," said Usha Haley, an expert on US sanctions at the Economic Policy Institute.

She said companies find administrative loopholes, which include setting up a web of corporations, to get around the sanctions.

"It looks like this company is setting up administrative layers that are obfuscating the effects of the sanctions. It's done all the time," she said.

'No One I’ve Met is Looking for a Handout'

Obama wants you to believe he's never met any of his core supporters, apparently. While he's playing make believe, he also thinks you're dumb enough to think you've gotten a tax cut. The guy had run up mind-boggling deficits in the trillions but we're supposed to believe he's handing out tax cuts?

Is he for real?

So far, Americans who have filed their taxes have discovered that the average refund is up nearly ten percent this year – to an all-time high of about $3,000. This is due in large part to the Recovery Act. In fact, one-third of the Recovery Act was made up of tax cuts – tax cuts that have already provided more than $160 billion in relief for families and businesses, and nearly $100 billion of that directly into the pockets of working Americans.

No one I’ve met is looking for a handout. And that’s not what these tax cuts are. Instead, they’re targeted relief to help middle class families weather the storm, to jumpstart our economy, and to bring the fundamentals of the American Dream – making an honest living, earning an education, owning a home, and raising a family – back within reach for millions of Americans.

First, because folks who work hard should be able to make a decent living, I kept a promise I made when I campaigned for this office and cut taxes for 95 percent of working Americans. For most Americans, this Making Work Pay tax credit began showing up in your paychecks last April. And it continues this year, for a total of $400 per individual and $800 per couple, per year.

Gee, we're livin' large!

RIP, Bob Franks

Some sad news this afternoon for those who follow New Jersey politics. Former GOP Congressman Bob Franks has died after a brief illness.

Former Rep. Bob Franks, a well-respected Republican who led the state GOP but lost races for governor and U.S. Senate, died late Friday night after a brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer, a family spokesman said this morning.

Franks, 58, was widely credited for the resurgence of the state Republican Party after the election of Gov. Jim Florio in 1989. He went on to represent Central Jersey's 7th Congressional District in Washington, which includes large parts of Somersert, Hunterdon andUnion and a small part of Middlesex County.

He has most recently led the Health Care Institute of New Jersey.

"Bob's love of New Jersey and of our country resulted in a meaningful life dedicated to public service, as a state assemblyman, United States congressman, state party chairman and finally as an advocate for affordable quality health care for all," said Mike DuHaime, a former aide to Franks who is acting as family spokesman. "His generosity of time, care for others and boundless spirit inspired a generation of those in public life. While his passing deeply saddens all who knew him, we have been so enriched by having had him in our lives."

DuHaime said Franks' wife was at the former congressman's side when he died at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan.

“Bob Franks was an American patriot," said Gov. Chris Christie in a statement. "Not only was Bob a great Assemblyman and Congressman, but he was also an outstanding political leader for the Republican party. He provided tireless leadership to our party and our state and, as a result, trained his successors — the next generation of New Jersey’s and America’s public servants. He saw that as part of his duty as a leader and it was truly one of the joys of his life."

Franks' two stints as Republican state committee chairman were successful for his party. In his second one, he capitalized on voter anger over Gov. Jim Florio's tax increases and the GOP grabbed veto-proof majorities in both houses of the Legislature after the 1991 elections.

The victory was the most dramatic shift in Trenton since Watergate had swept Democrats into office two decades earlier, and the veto-proof power allowed Republicans to reduce the 7 percent sales tax to 6 percent over the Democratic governor's objections.

He served in the Assembly from 1991 to 1993, when he left Trenton to begin an eight year stint as a U.S Representative.

Franks won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 2000. Vastly outspent against Corzine, who plowed a record $63 million into his effort, Franks ran a smart campaign and kept the race surprisingly close. He lost by only three percentage points, impressing Republicans who regularly lost New Jersey Senate races by wider margins.

In 2000, The Star-Ledger editorial board endorsed Corzine in his race against Franks. But the newspaper lauded Franks' and his track record, saying Franks was "a man of integrity who has fought a clean campaign."

Political insiders believe that Franks would have beaten Corzine in 2000 if the race had lasted just a little longer. Franks orchestrated a strategy of using Corzine's own money and self-financing against him.

Somali Pirates Take On U.S. Warship With Predictable Results

I realize these clowns are brazen but are they so stupid to think they can take on a warship?

A U.S. warship captured six suspected pirates Saturday after a battle off the Horn of Africa — the Navy's third direct encounter with seafaring bandits in less than two weeks.

The Navy has taken at least 21 suspected pirates since March 31 in the violence-plagued waters off Somalia and nearby regions, where U.S. warships are part of an international anti-piracy flotilla.

A statement by the U.S. Navy said the suspected pirates began shooting at the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland just before dawn about 380 miles (610 kilometers) off Djibouti, a small nation facing Yemen across the mouth of the Red Sea.

The Navy said the Ashland returned fire and the suspected pirate skiff was destroyed. All six people on board were rescued and taken aboard the Ashland.

Should have let them drown.

The Ashland suffered no injuries or damage in the second recent attack on a U.S. warship by suspected pirates.

On March 31, the frigate USS Nicholas exchanged fire with a suspected pirate vessel west of the Seychelles, sinking their skiff and confiscating a mother ship. Five suspected pirates were captured.

On Monday, the destroyer USS McFaul responded to the distress call from a merchant vessel and captured 10 other suspected pirates.

The Navy said it was reviewing "multiple options" on the suspects' fates.

Let's hope heavy weights around their ankles and dropping them into the sea is one of them.

Whoa! Doctors Remove Live Explosive From Afghan Soldier's Head

Talk about having a steady hand.

US military doctors in Afghanistan -- decked out in full body armor and surrounded by a bomb squad -- surgically removed a live explosive device that had become lodged in a soldier's scalp after an attack.

The risky operation at Bagram Airfield took five hours to complete and is believed to be the first of its kind in the Afghanistan war, according to the Air Force News Service.

When the injured soldier was initially brought into the emergency room, the medical staff thought the 2.5-inch-long, unexploded ordnance was just scrap metal. But after peering at the CAT scan, Lt. Col. Anthony Terreri realized he was looking at something far from normal.

I then looked at the scout image and could see there was an air gap on one end, and what looked almost like the tip of a tube of lipstick at the end, and decided this didn't look quite right," he said.

Once they figured out they were dealing with an explosive-packed device, all unnecessary personnel were evacuated, and an explosive-ordnance disposal team was called in.

The solider has been left with traumatic brain injury.

Polish President Killed in Plane Crash

Awful news.

Polish President Lech Kaczynski and dozens of others in a high-level delegation were killed Saturday when their plane crashed on landing outside the western Russian city of Smolensk, officials said.

Russian state television reported that the Tu-154 jet crashed about a kilometer short of the runway on its fourth attempt to land in heavy fog at the Smolensk-Severnyi military airport, shortly before 11 a.m. Moscow time.

Reports of the number killed in the crash varied. Polish officials put the figure at 88, while Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations said 96 had died and Russia's Investigative Committee said the total was 132.

"We still cannot fully understand the scope of this tragedy and what it means for us in the future," said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Piotr Paszkowski. "Nothing like this has ever happened in Poland."

"We can assume with great certainty that all persons on board have been killed."

Passengers included the president and his wife as well as other top officials. Slawomir Skrzypek, president of the National Bank of Poland, was also on board. Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Piotr Pszkowski said that the army chief of staff and Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Kremer were also on board the plane.

Former Polish president Lech Walesa, who headed the Solidarity movement, called the crash "inconceivable".

"The Soviets killed Polish elites in Katyn 70 years ago. Today, the Polish elite died there while getting ready to pay homage to the Poles killed there," a shaken Walesa told AFP.

Aviation expert Vladmimir Putin will personally head the investigation. Color me suspicious.

We already have a cable news network that does that. We don't need another unfair, unbalanced channel

Good grief, people, get a grip. A couple hours of programming on a Saturday afternoon in the spring isn't likely to get many viewers to begin with. But these loons flip out because of one guy in the program while overlooking the fact you have a former Democrat presidential contender along with a slew of CNN personalities. And they make the fantastic leap of saying CNN is becoming a clone of Fox News? How childish.

These people won't be content until they control 100% of the programming on every television channel. There's no room for differing opinions, only rigid thought, one-way programming and conformity. They claim we're "the midst of a great debate" yet want to silence people in the debate.

Here's a suggestion for these twits: Don't watch.

MSNBC Colleagues Laugh at Dimwit Norah O'Donnell

MSNBC laughingstock Norah O'Donnell broke out the racial radar this morning by making some lame assertions that Newt Gingrich's criticism of Barack Obama was somehow racist. Yes, it's come to this in America. Criticizing a half-black man for doing a lousy job is racist in the eyes of far-left TV babbleheads.

MSNBC’s Norah O’Donnell on Friday went too far for even her colleagues at the liberal cable channel, receiving mockery for her assertion that Newt Gingrich made racially charged remarks about Barack Obama. At the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, Thursday, the former GOP leader commented that “shooting three-point shots may be clever.”

Speaking of the President’s basketball skills, Gingrich added, “But it doesn’t put anybody to work. And what we need is a president, not an athlete. We need somebody who actually focuses on getting people back to work.” After the clip was played, Morning Joe guest host O’Donnell lobbed her accusation at Gingrich.

“But I’m not sure what he means by this particular sound bite,” said O’Donnell. “And I think it’s open to some criticism because it suggests that the president is an athlete and some people may suggest, you know, because all black people are good athletes. I mean that’s what it sort of sounds like to me.”

Tiger-Taunting Plane Banned by the FAA

Good grief, can they coddle this guy any more?

An airplane that towed banners poking fun at Tiger Woods' sex scandal during the Masters has been ordered to stop until it undergoes minor repairs.

Kathleen Bergen, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, said Friday that FAA flight safety inspectors issued the order after meeting with the plane's pilot.

The single-engine Cessna made two flights near Augusta National Golf Club as Woods played Thursday in the first round of the Masters, close enough that the banners taunting Woods could be seen from the course.

Bergen said the plane was flying for a company called Air America Aerial Ads based in Genoa, Ohio. She said inspectors were responding to a request by FAA air traffic managers in Augusta.

Unions Planning March On Wall Street

Either the writer at the Huffington Post is clueless or the unions are. My vote is both of them are.

Let's start with the obvious. The Tea Party is not so much anti-Wall Street as it is anti big government. I haven't seen a lot tea partiers holding signs or making speeches excoriating Wall Street. That has all been done by the unions. Like when they gave bus tours of AIG executives homes in an attempt to intimidate them.

Next, the unions might want to check who it is their members work for. It may surprise them to find out that a lot of those companies are publicly traded on Wall Street. You know, companies like GM and Chrysler.

While on the subject of GM, until recently GM had it's own financial arm known as GMAC, which sort of engaged in the same sort of practices they say they are heading to New York to protest and draw attention too.

But y'all go on with your silly ol' selves. If you think demonizing the very people and organizations who supply the jobs in this country is a winning strategy then go ahead and make New Yorkers angry with more traffic gridlock and expenditure of their tax dollars to pay for the security and clean-up of your little march, which will no doubt leave a path of destruction in it's wake, because that is just the way your side rolls.

This is a really dumb idea, but what do you expect from organizations who are attempting to divert attention from how they have become destructive to this country and are little more then organized crime bosses with labels sewn on their shirts.

MSNBC Really Hard Up for Talent

After years of being interviewed about his political successes - and glaring failures - Eliot Spitzer was on the other side of the microphone on Thursday.

Spitzer surprised regular MSNBC viewers who tuned into "The Dylan Ratigan Show" - and instead saw the former governor filling in as the guest host.

"Eliot has been a frequent guest on Dylan's show and has provided our viewers with terrific insight into the financial crisis. With Dylan off today, it was the perfect opportunity to have him co-host the hour," said MSNBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines.

Spitzer was forced out of office by a prostitution scandal less than two years after taking office.

The Democrat who won the 2006 governor's race in a landslide said in a recent interview he feels "unceasing agony" about not being "where [he] would like to be" - that being finishing up his first term as governor.

Spitzer quizzed his guests on everything from the Wall Street bailouts to the future of the Republican party.

Some addressed Spitzer, who wore a pinstriped suit and blue tie, as "Eliot," while others stuck with "Governor."

Posing a question about the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, Spitzer asked, "Isn't this just the minor leagues showing up at this thing? You know, the big guns are holding their fire, saying, 'We don't want to go near the crazies that the Tea Party represents anymore?"

That got a laugh out of the Washington Post's Jonathan Capeheart: "That's an interesting way to put that question," he chuckled.

Spitzer obviously fits right in with the far-left kooks over there with his sneering condescension towards tea partiers.

Mentally Unstable Alan Grayson Interrupts Republican Gathering

This dude is totally unhinged.

On Thursday, April 8th, 2010, Congressman Alan Grayson, Democrat in Florida’s 8th district, interrupted a district meeting of the local Orange County Republican Executive Committee. The meeting was being held at Perkins, a family restaurant.

Unanswered question: How did Alan Grayson know about this meeting? Who informed him? Was this staged?

Matthew Falconer, candidate for Orange County Mayor, quickly challenged Alan’s rudeness. Grayson demanded not to be interrupted, but Falconer quickly reminded the congressman that he is in fact interrupting their meeting.

Linda O’Keefe, member of the Orange County Republican Executive Committee and extraordinary patriot volunteer with the Orlando Tea Party said, “I’m wondering if Grayson realizes that we do still, for now, have the right to assemble! But can’t we have a meeting without being interrupted by our congressman?”

Pay attention at the 3:00 mark of the video. The woman taping him should have punched the asshole in face.

ESPN orangutan boxing expert Barack Obama picked the one in the red shorts to win. Naturally, he was knocked out.

Dressed in garish shorts and boxing gloves, orangutans trade punches and spin-kick each other in a boxing ring.

Horrifying footage shows cheering tourists drawn to the barbaric sport at a theme park called Safari World on the outskirts of Bangkok in Thailand.

The same company was banned from doing exactly the same thing just six years ago.

While an orangutan pretends to be knocked out of the boxing ring, others, dressed in bikinis are trained as round card girls and bell ringers.

The apes kickbox each other as a spectacle for tourists in a show lasting more than 30 minutes, before being returned to their dark cages. It is not known how many orangutans have been captured and trained by Safari World.

Animal campaigners say the apes - weighing up to 250lbs - could do themselves serious damage in the boxing ring.

They warn it is hastening the end of the orangutan, which experts claim could be extinct in the wild in several years.

Dr Grainne McEntee, head of operations at Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS), said: 'It is heartbreaking that such practices still go on.

'Increasing awareness of the impact of deforestation in the Western world is crucial to helping bring this trade to an end.'

He said the continued devastation of the Bornean rainforest fuels this illegal trade in orangutans, both as pets and for use in entertainment.

Violent Extremist Teabaggers Threaten Chris Christie

Oh, wait, it's just a joke, right? Besides, is was some friends of the common man at the teacher's union hinting at his death. Move along, nothing to see here.

NJEA President Barbara Keshishian issued the following statement Friday morning:

"NJEA condemns the inappropriate 'prayer' contained in a letter sent by the NJEA Bergen County regional offices and our Bergen County affiliate. Language such as that has no place in civil discourse. It was intended as humor, but it is not funny. Our ongoing discussion with Gov. Christie is centered on serious issues of significant importance to the state, and that must be the focus of all our conversation. We deeply regret that the 'prayer' reference was included in the letter, and we apologize to Gov. Christie for both the content of the 'prayer' and the lack of respect it demonstrated. I will be reaching out to Gov. Christie's office to apologize personally on behalf of all NJEA members."

Here's what these cut-ups had to say.

"Dear Lord this year you have taken away my favorite actor, Patrick Swayze, my favorite actress, Farrah Fawcett, my favorite singer, Michael Jackson, and my favorite salesman, Billy Mays. I just wanted to let you know that Chris Christie is my favorite governor."

Association president Joe Coppola says the "prayer" was a joke and was never meant to be made public.

"There is nothing professional about this 'professional' group," Christie's spokesman Michael Drewniak said, referring to the NJEA. "These tactics come from the same people who in public Web postings wish the governor would die. How do they explain themselves to the children?"

The prayer was posted on the Union’s Facebook page, which has 67,000 followers.

Move Over Tea Partiers, Here Come The Whigs

It looks like everybody wants a piece of the political pie this year, so I was surprised when I saw in various other sources, stories about the Modern Whig Party.

While they trace their roots back to the original Whig party, they have come up with a few issues relevant to today and are establishing chapters in all of the states.

While I perused their national website, I haven't done any in depth looking into this emerging political party. For the most part they seem to be fiscally conservative, although in reading their stance on issues, they take a broad brush approach, they do have a few specific issues, while at the same time being libertarian leaning as far as social issues.

In light of the little bit of information I have read they don't seem as much a political party as they do a special interest group. They have a few items that they are very specific on and most others are only given a nod.

Anyway, check them out if so inclined, and I guess welcome them to the political discussion going on in this country as more and more people are feeling ignored and alienated by the current two major parties in the country.

There is one common thread among most of the groups clamoring for attention on the political landscape. They all have a conservative bent, whether they be Libertarians, Whigs, or the non party Tea Party folks. Maybe that is why SEIU was getting jealous and decided to try and start their own party.

Good Grief: Is Ben Smith Really This Stupid?

To think I used to like this guy. Has he guzzled so much Democrat Kool-aid that he still has to whine about Hurricane Katrina five years later? Hey Ben, in case you don't remember, everyone was told to get out of New Orleans and many people didn't listen. It wasn't George Bush's fault that Ray Nagin was so stupid and thousands of others didn't pay attention to the forecasters.

Seriously, is there a statute of limitations on blaming natural disasters on one man?

Five years after President Bush's failed response to a natural disaster in New Orleans deeply damaged his party's credibility and helped sweep them from power, top Republicans speaking to supporters in New Orleans tonight made no mention of Hurricane Katrina.

The series of speakers to the Southern Republican Leadership Conference at a Hilton conference center on the Mississippi River paid passing tribute to New Orleans' food, its culture, and its championship football team, but made no reference to the disaster still shadowing what Mary Matalin called a "vibrant city."

New Orleans has rebounded, with a tourist industry and elements of its infrastructure rebuilt, but the Census Bureau estimates that its population is only 75% of what it was ten years ago. And the city is still working its way through some of the storm's horrors: The Times Picayune this evening is leading its website with the story of the guilty plea of one of several police officers accused of firing on unarmed civilians during Katrina.

Maybe New Orlenas has rebounded in part thanks to the Republican Governor, Bobby Jindal.

What a Shame: Stupak Retiring

Aw, c'mon Bart, man up and take your beating come November. Well, if you're going to run off like a coward, mayb eyou can convince a couple hundred of your lowlife Democrat pals to join you in retirement.

Michigan Democratic Rep. Bart Stupak will not seek reelection this fall, a decision that comes hard on his front-and-center (and controversial) role in the recent passage of President Barack Obama's health-care legislation.

Stupak is expected to formalize it at a press conference at 12:30 pm in Marquette, Mich.

Sources familiar with Stupak's thinking describe him as exhausted and burned out from the long fight over health care in which he emerged as the leading voice of pro-life Democrats wary about the possibility that the legislation would allow federal funds to be spent on abortions.

Stupak eventually voted for the final bill after Obama signed an executive order re-affirming the idea that no funds from the legislation would go toward abortions. In the wake of that vote he was treated as a hero within the Democratic caucus, but the reaction toward him from activists on the right and left was significantly more vitriolic. Former Charlevoix County Commissioner Connie Saltonstall has announced she will take on Stupak in the state's Aug. 3 primary.

Stupak's seat, which takes in much of northern Michigan's Upper Peninsula, will be a major takeover target for Republicans. Obama carried it with 50 percent in 2008, but George W. Bush won the district in 2000 and 2004.
