Former Miss Argentina Dies After Butt Surgery

Call it death by vanity. Whatever happened to exercising to get rid of the excess poundage?
The pageant world is mourning the loss of a queen: Solange Magnano.

The former Miss Argentina, 38, died from complications after undergoing a gluteoplasty – a cosmetic surgery on her buttocks.

She died of a pulmonary embolism Sunday after three days in critical condition following the gluteoplasty, the Associated Press reported.

Magnano won her crown in 1994.

Close friend Roberto Piazza said the procedure involved injections and the liquid "went to her lungs and brain."

Various online definitions describe a gluteoplasty as a procedure to either lift the buttocks, or to enlarge the posterior by inserting synthetic implants.

"A woman who had everything lost her life to have a slightly firmer behind," Piazza said.
There's something to be said for aging gracefully. You've won beauty pageants, you're 38 years old, what's so wrong you must pursue someone's ideal of beauty. Those addicted to plastic surgery should take note: Is it worth risking your life?
